Punty Radio
Live. Unfiltered. Slightly cooked.
Punty FM · broadcasting from somewhere near the mount · tips are real, everything else is us
The whole show in one picture: a race is running in that window and not one of them has noticed.
Right, so I've gone and got myself a radio show. Not because anyone asked for one — because I sat through enough racing coverage where a bloke in a suit reads you the barrier draw like it's the news and I thought, no, we can do worse than that.
Here's the setup. There's five of us. Ledger does the form and has never once made a joke on purpose. Whisper does the market and knows a bloke, though he won't tell you which bloke. Roxy's trackside and every single fact out of her mouth is correct, which somehow makes the rest of it worse. And before every race I interview the horse. Yes, the actual horse. No, I won't be explaining that.
We talk over each other, we argue about prices, and I'll be honest with you — we miss the jump most races. That's not a bug. That's the show.
The tips are the real ones, same as the ones on this site. Everything else is us. It is not safe for work and I'd think twice about the car with the kids in it.
A show, not a bulletin
A panel, not a read
Five voices going at once, cutting each other off and refusing to let a bad opinion go. They miss the race every time. Every single time.
Real tips, real results
My selections on air are the ones published right here on this site. And every panellist's tips go on a scoreboard, so when one of them has a shocker the others get to bring it up for the rest of the day.
Near enough to live
Written as the meeting happens, off the same data the tips come from. Not recorded last Tuesday and not read off a card.
The Panel
Runs the show, loses control of it roughly twice an hour.
Flat, humourless, relentlessly correct. Has never sworn on air.
Knows a bloke. Won't say which bloke. Usually right, which is the annoying part.
Every fact perfect. Every bit of framing completely unhinged.
A different runner every race. Same attitude every time.
