Rightio Loose Units, Sha Tin with the rain in the air and the track playing just slippery enough to make mugs look clever before they hit the wall—let's get stuck in. This is one of those meetings where the leaders aren’t just “in it”, they’re usually the whole story, especially at the short trips where one bad spot turns a hero into a spectator. I’m building around pace edges and the horses that look like they’ll get a soft run rather than a “go-go-go and pray” run.

The wet-weather vibe is real—GOOD with weather doing rain things and a C+3 rail that can reward the right path. Translation: you want horses who can either hold position (no getting shuffled), or who have the speed to work up early without expending their lungs. And yes, we’re still hunting value—just not the kind that gets you punched in the wallet and left on read.

Big picture spine: I like backing place where possible, and I’m treating the open races like chaos bowls—cover the danger, but don’t go full cartwheel with a $2k quaddie ticket.

Quick link reminder: if you want the full card breakdown, it’s all up at https://punty.ai/tips/sha-tin-2026-07-04

MEET SNAPSHOT

Track: GOOD, 1200m-1800m range card
Rail: C+3 (Soil 21.1%)
Official going: GOOD (expected to play with leaders + “can handle it” types)
Weather: Rain, 28.2°C, wind 9km/h SW (watch for wet-ground holding up and kickback)
Early lane guess: Pace lanes strong early, then a running-on finish if the leaders don’t go mad
Tempo profile: Short races = moderate flow but with enough pace pressure to set up mid-run savers
Jockeys to follow:
Joao Moreira — clean hands on pace types; knows how to nurse a position through the traffic
Zac Purton — tends to land in the right spot when others get cute and lose momentum
Karis Teetan — if there’s a lane to slot in, he’ll find it (especially mid-pack)
Stables to respect:
C Fownes (2 runners) — tends to have their horses ready to roll and not do the “tough watch” thing
D A Hayes (2 runners) — has a habit of turning wet-race scenarios into controlled speed
K L Man (2 runners) — often sneaky for place chances when the market locks onto the wrong story

Punty's take: Sha Tin on GOOD with rain in the air is a “where’s the kickback?” sort of day. The leaders don’t get to stroll—there’s enough tempo to keep everyone honest, but it’s not always the wild sprint-fest where anyone from last turns up as a hero. That means if you’re stuck wide or checked early, you’re paying a tax to make up ground.

I’m laser-focused on horses that either (a) map to the front end, or (b) sit just behind it with enough speed to hold their spot. In Race 1, the leader profile is so clean it’s basically a freight train with a steering wheel. In the quads (R8-11), it’s the usual Sha Tin deal: open legs where one unlucky stumble costs you the whole diary.

What it means for you: Don’t overthink the early races. Back the horses that look like they’ll get the position with confidence, then protect with place when the field is active. Where the model says “No Bet”, treat it like a dodgy schnitty at 2am—could be fine, but you’re not buying it.

In the later quaddie lanes (R8-11), keep it tight where it’s tight and embrace width where it’s wide. This isn’t the day for hero punts in every race—this is the day for a smart spine and letting the chaos do its job.

PUNTY'S BIG 3 + MULTI

CRITICAL: These are the three bets the day leans on (Big 3 spine) — as requested, copied straight from the model’s lean.

1 - Jedi Spurs (Race 1, No.1) — $1.50
Why Barrier 1 leader type—this is the “straight to the front, keep rolling” storyline.
2 - Supreme Winner (Race 2, No.10) — $8.00
Why Value place/win profile with a live midfield-to-forward trip—won’t be stuck too far away.
3 - Superb Spirit (Race 10, No.6) — $3.00
Why Pace is genuine and he’s the sort that can dictate without needing miracles.

Multi (all three to win): $10 × ~9.00 = ~$90 collect

Race 1 – The Purves Quaich Griffin Plate

Race type: Griffin, 1200m
Map & tempo: Moderate Pace, with Jedi Spurs + Ever Wealth driving
Punty read: Jedi Spurs has the map you dream about—barrier 1, clear leader intent, and that “I’m not stopping” vibe. Ever Wealth is the classic stalker/pressure runner who can pop up if the front end slows at all. The danger is the “held up / bumped / unlucky” tag carriers—if they get clear early, they’ll look like they were waiting to happen. But for mine: this race is about who controls the first 400m, and Jedi Spurs does.

Top 3 + Roughie ($10 pool)

1. Jedi Spurs (No.1) — $1.50 / $1.10
Bet $4.50 Win, return $6.75
Prob 44.5% | Place: 47.0% | Value: 0.82x
Why Barrier 1 leader, clean early speed picture, and the market still treats him like the obvious train.
2. Almighty Warrior (No.2) — $7.70 / $1.70
Bet $5.50 Place, return $9.35
Prob 9.6% | Place: 19.9% | Value: 0.91x
Why Pace-capable and can be sitting closer than you’d think—place money is the job here.
3. Ever Wealth (No.8) — $10.00 / $2.10
Bet Tracked
Prob 8.8% | Place: 18.6% | Value: 1.08x
Why If she gets a dream run she can fill a spot, but she’s not the kind of place-div risk worth taking.

Roughie: Chancheng Sparkle (No.3) — $17.00 / $3.00
Bet Tracked
Prob 7.8% | Place: 16.3% | Value: 1.63x
Win path: If she clears up from the hold-up/traffic story, she can sprint home and take a slice of the chaos.

Race 2 – The Swaine Cup (C5)

Race type: C5, 1200m
Map & tempo: Moderate Pace, Peridot/Money Tycoon listed as pace-disadvantaged
Punty read: This is a C5 where the market’s probably pointing at Verbier for a reason—but the way the race shapes up, you want the live chance to run into the money without needing to lead them all the way. Supreme Winner is the one I’m circling: she can press without wrecking herself, and the value sits in the places as well as the win.

Top 3 + Roughie ($10 pool)

1. Verbier (No.5) — $2.40 / $1.10
Bet $4.50 Win, return $10.80
Prob 18.2% | Place: 24.6% | Value: 0.54x
Why On pace, draws in well for a 1200m effort, and if the tempo cooperates he’s the sort to stick.
2. Supreme Winner (No.10) — $8.00 / $2.10
Bet $5.50 Place, return $11.55
Prob 10.8% | Place: 19.6% | Value: 1.06x
Why The value is in the middle distance run style—she doesn’t need to be first, just in the right lane.
3. Peridot (No.2) — $9.60 / $2.80
Bet Tracked
Prob 9.5% | Place: 17.5% | Value: 1.12x
Why Solid runner but she’s got to jump hurdles to get the place dividends.

Roughie: Groovy Feeling (No.3) — $18.00 / $4.50
Bet Tracked
Prob 10.1% | Place: 18.4% | Value: 2.24x
Win path: If the pace collapses even a touch, she’s right there to swoop into the top end.

Race 3 – The Wong Cup (C5)

Race type: C5, 1200m
Map & tempo: Moderate Pace, leaders moving around (Gimme Five + Macanese Master)
Punty read: Wide-open chaos, but with a clear theme: several of these are the “sitting close enough to sprint” types. Robot Knight and Macanese Master are the backbone—if they land a decent spot they’ll be finishing like it’s payday. Daily Trophy is the one who can get overlooked because the price says “nah”, but the track profile and rider/trainer combos keep him live.

Top 3 + Roughie ($0 pool — Watch Only style in data)

1. Robot Knight (No.4) — $10.00 / $2.50
Bet $15.00 Each Way ($7.50W + $7.50P), return $75.00 (wins) / $18.75 (places)
Prob 12.8% | Place: 20.1% | Value: 1.57x
Why Maps like he’ll sit handy and then turn the screws late.
2. Macanese Master (No.11) — $8.50 / $2.20
Bet Tracked
Prob 12.4% | Place: 22.0% | Value: 1.30x
Why Big place threat, just outside the saver sweet spot.
3. Daily Trophy (No.1) — $4.00 / $2.30
Bet Tracked
Prob 11.5% | Place: 20.6% | Value: 0.57x
Why Not totally dead—just not the model’s place target today.

Roughie: Noble Deluxe (No.3) — $14.00 / $4.90
Bet Tracked
Prob 10.9% | Place: 19.7% | Value: 1.87x
Win path: If the traffic clears, he can run on through the line like a proper nuisance.

Race 4 – The Li Cup (C2)

Race type: C2, 1200m
Map & tempo: Moderate Pace, Rising Force vs Turquoise Velocity on the speed
Punty read: This is the “don’t get cute” race. Turquoise Velocity has the tempo advantage—he’s the sort to be in control early, especially on a track where being in front saves ground and keeps options open. Rising Force is the pressure. Young Champion is the value runner who can slot into the right trip and hit the line hard.

Top 3 + Roughie ($15 pool)

1. Turquoise Velocity (No.5) — $3.00 / $1.20
Bet $15.00 Win, return $45.00
Prob 22.6% | Place: 23.2% | Value: 0.83x
Why Real pace map, likely to lead or stalk with zero drama, and he can carry it late.
2. Rising Force (No.4) — $2.90 / $1.10
Bet Tracked
Prob 20.0% | Place: 21.8% | Value: 0.71x
Why Too short for a place saver angle in a tight field.
3. Young Champion (No.3) — $6.40 / $2.30
Bet Tracked
Prob 14.9% | Place: 16.9% | Value: 1.17x
Why Needs the run, and the day’s money is going elsewhere.

Roughie: Pakistan Legacy (No.6) — $17.00 / $3.80
Bet Tracked
Prob 12.8% | Place: 14.7% | Value: 2.68x
Win path: If the leaders soften and he’s not trapped wide, he’s the “value ceiling” runner.

Race 5 – The Arculli Trophy (C4)

Race type: C4, 1400m
Map & tempo: Slow Pace, chaos risk from the lack of pressure
Punty read: When pace is slow at 1400m, it turns into a timing contest. Decision Link looks like he can be in the right spot without getting run to death; Robot Star has the momentum profile; and Golden Empire is the long-odds talent that can be a nightmare if he gets clear late. For me, this one is about who finds a lane rather than who “looks good on paper”.

Top 3 + Roughie ($0 pool — Locked selections with no-bet logic in data)

1. Decision Link (No.8) — $9.10 / $3.40
Bet $15.00 Each Way ($7.50W + $7.50P), return $68.25 (wins) / $25.50 (places)
Prob 13.2% | Place: 25.9% | Value: 1.48x
Why The lane-and-lift type—place chances are huge when this tempo goes walkies.
2. Robot Star (No.1) — $11.00 / $3.20
Bet Tracked
Prob 11.0% | Place: 23.7% | Value: 1.49x
Why Would’ve been a place bet if the div was in range—big danger late.
3. Golden Empire (No.9) — $26.00 / $6.40
Bet Tracked
Prob 10.3% | Place: 22.5% | Value: 3.32x
Why High value, low place certainty—must win clean.

Roughie: Sunday's Serenade (No.4) — $12.00 / $4.20
Bet Tracked
Prob 7.7% | Place: 17.1% | Value: 1.14x
Win path: If he times it right and the leaders start thinning, he’ll go bang at the line.

Race 6 – The Chan Trophy (C4)

Race type: C4, 1200m
Map & tempo: Moderate Pace, “on-pace” horses generally advantaged
Punty read: This is a race where the right position is everything. Pejibaye has the “on pace, can keep going” look, while Good Chap is the value place threat—he’s the sort to slot forward and keep finding. Bright Mortar is the spicy danger if it all goes right in the second half.

Top 3 + Roughie ($8.50 pool)

1. Pejibaye (No.1) — $3.70 / $1.50
Bet $8.50 Each Way ($4.25W + $4.25P), return $15.73 (wins) / $6.38 (places)
Prob 15.7% | Place: 21.2% | Value: 0.71x
Why Strong on pace profile; if he gets a smooth trip, he’s in the finish every time.
2. Good Chap (No.4) — $9.60 / $3.40
Bet Tracked
Prob 13.2% | Place: 23.3% | Value: 1.55x
Why He’s right there—just the ticket type is already covered by Pejibaye.
3. Speedy Smartie (No.2) — $7.90 / $2.30
Bet Tracked
Prob 12.3% | Place: 22.0% | Value: 1.19x
Why Too much pressure needed to crack the top here.

Roughie: Bright Mortar (No.6) — $15.00 / $4.90
Bet Tracked
Prob 10.8% | Place: 19.6% | Value: 2.00x
Win path: If the leaders stagger, he’s the sort to take advantage and sprint through.

Race 7 – The Stevenson Cup (C4)

Race type: C4, 1200m
Map & tempo: Moderate Pace, leaders listed but market’s nervous
Punty read: This is chaos, but with real structure: Run Run Sunrise and Oneshot both look like they can sit in the right areas and not get cooked. Grouper is a short-priced speed threat, and Healthy Healthy is the value keeper. If the race turns into a traffic jam, the ones with the clean lane will get paid.

Top 3 + Roughie ($0 pool — Locked selections with no-bet logic in data)

1. Run Run Sunrise (No.1) — $15.00 / $5.40
Bet $15.00 Each Way ($7.50W + $7.50P), return $112.50 (wins) / $40.50 (places)
Prob 14.8% | Place: 20.1% | Value: 2.72x
Why Roughie value with place confidence—sheer chaos upside.
2. Oneshot (No.2) — $14.00 / $3.20
Bet Tracked
Prob 13.4% | Place: 23.7% | Value: 2.30x
Why Big place danger, but the divs aren’t playing ball.
3. Grouper (No.6) — $2.60 / $1.60
Bet Tracked
Prob 12.5% | Place: 22.4% | Value: 0.40x
Why Too short in the win/place mix for this model’s approach.

Roughie: One More (No.3) — $17.00 / $5.60
Bet Tracked
Prob 6.2% | Place: 12.0% | Value: 1.30x
Win path: Needs everything to fall his way—pace helps and he gets a clear run late.

Race 8 – The Ip Jug Hcp (C4)

Race type: C4, 1800m
Map & tempo: Genuine Pace, more room for rhythm
Punty read: This is where “staying power” turns into “best-position power”. Mr Cool looks like the type who can track and then run at the right time. Smart Fat Cat adds late pace danger, and Firefoot is the classic “he’ll be there” sort if the tempo holds together. In a genuine pace race, you don’t want to be too far back unless you’re a monster.

Top 3 + Roughie ($8.50 pool)

1. Mr Cool (No.2) — $6.90 / $2.30
Bet $8.50 Each Way ($4.25W + $4.25P), return $29.33 (wins) / $9.77 (places)
Prob 13.9% | Place: 13.3% | Value: 1.18x
Why Genuine pace suits his running style—place plus is the sweet spot.
2. Smart Fat Cat (No.10) — $8.00 / $3.00
Bet Tracked
Prob 10.4% | Place: 14.1% | Value: 1.03x
Why Covers the late threat, but you already paid for it via Mr Cool.
3. Firefoot (No.9) — $9.90 / $3.20
Bet Tracked
Prob 9.5% | Place: 13.0% | Value: 1.16x
Why Can run into it, but place certainty isn’t there.

Roughie: Inno Super (No.3) — $30.00 / $6.70
Bet Tracked
Prob 9.0% | Place: 12.2% | Value: 3.32x
Win path: Big upside if the tempo helps him late—he’s the ceiling for trifecta dreamers.

Race 9 – The Chow Silver Plate (C4)

Race type: C4, 1200m
Map & tempo: Hot Pace, leader pressure and speed over 1200m
Punty read: 1200m with a hot tempo is basically a survival trial. Lucrative Eight and Leading Dragon want to be prominent, and Island Buddy is the “don’t ignore me” type with the ability to keep up the grind. Mabubu is the danger if he finds a lane and doesn’t get trapped at the wrong time—he can be a value grenade.

Top 3 + Roughie ($10.50 pool)

1. Lucrative Eight (No.3) — $2.20 / $1.10
Bet $10.50 Win, return $23.10
Prob 18.2% | Place: 23.5% | Value: 0.49x
Why Fast enough to lead and strong enough to go again—hot pace is his friend.
2. Leading Dragon (No.5) — $6.90 / $2.20
Bet Tracked
Prob 17.0% | Place: 28.8% | Value: 1.44x
Why Place threat, but the odds band says “not today”.
3. Island Buddy (No.1) — $12.00 / $3.60
Bet Tracked
Prob 11.4% | Place: 21.1% | Value: 1.69x
Why Value win type, but place target isn’t convinced.

Roughie: Mabubu (No.4) — $17.00 / $4.50
Bet Tracked
Prob 12.3% | Place: 21.7% | Value: 2.56x
Win path: If the leaders’ petrol drops, he swoops through the gaps.

Race 10 – The Philip Chen Trophy (C3)

Race type: C3, 1200m
Map & tempo: Genuine Pace, speed carries the day
Punty read: This is about control. Superb Spirit is the one with the “keep going, don’t panic” profile, and Perfect General is right there as the main pressure. Spicy Standard adds pace presence but you can see why the model doesn’t treat him as the primary place option. Grand Eagle is the roughie ceiling runner if the right chaos unfolds late.

Top 3 + Roughie ($10.50 pool)

1. Superb Spirit (No.6) — $3.00 / $1.40
Bet $10.50 Win, return $31.50
Prob 28.4% | Place: 45.0% | Value: 1.05x
Why Genuine pace scenario lines up for him—he can hit the front or sit outside it and grind.
2. Perfect General (No.1) — $7.40 / $3.10
Bet Tracked
Prob 14.2% | Place: 26.1% | Value: 1.29x
Why Big place risk, but divs don’t fit the saver maths.
3. Spicy Standard (No.12) — $6.60 / $2.40
Bet Tracked
Prob 10.7% | Place: 20.8% | Value: 0.87x
Why Needs to win; place isn’t the plan.

Roughie: Grand Eagle (No.3) — $23.00 / $6.20
Bet Tracked
Prob 4.3% | Place: 9.8% | Value: 1.22x
Win path: If the pace sharpens and others fade, he’s the value late pick.

Race 11 – The Lee Trophy (C3)

Race type: C3, 1400m
Map & tempo: Slow Pace, tactical positioning matters
Punty read: Slow tempo at 1400m means the kick needs to be timed like you’re aiming a dart on a Tuesday. Greater Bae and Savvy Brilliant are the class-up types for the model, while Chill Easy adds a lane-and-lift threat early. Endeared is the roughie value if the race opens up late.

Top 3 + Roughie ($15 pool)

1. Greater Bae (No.3) — $8.50 / $2.80
Bet $15.00 Each Way ($7.50W + $7.50P), return $63.75 (wins) / $21.00 (places)
Prob 12.0% | Place: 25.2% | Value: 1.25x
Why Roughie guard because he’s both value and live—he can win if the run goes his way.
2. Savvy Brilliant (No.4) — $9.00 / $2.10
Bet $15.00 Place, return $31.50
Prob 11.7% | Place: 25.1% | Value: 1.28x
Why Place target with the right “show up late” profile when things slow down.
3. Chill Easy (No.1) — $6.70 / $2.40
Bet Tracked
Prob 10.7% | Place: 23.2% | Value: 0.87x
Why Solid but not a high-confidence place angle.

Roughie: Endeared (No.5) — $12.00 / $3.50
Bet Tracked
Prob 8.3% | Place: 18.6% | Value: 1.22x
Win path: If the pace collapses and he’s not blocked, he can pick them off down the centre.

SEQUENCE LANES — SINGLE OPTIMISED TICKET

Quaddie (R8-R11)

Smart: 2,3,14,5 / 3,4,5,1,2 / 6,1,4 / 3,5,4,7,8 (300 combos x $0.22 = $65.00) -- 22% flexi
Punty's take: Four open legs in a row—this is pure entertainment with chaos chemistry. If it lands, it’ll be because at least one of those legs produces a decent-priced winner instead of just “close but no cigar”.

NUGGETS FROM THE TRACK

1 - The rail isn’t the only thing shaping lanes—position is.
Even on GOOD after rain, the horses that get to save ground without being forced wide usually do the heavy lifting. Watch for runners who naturally sit just off the leaders instead of those who need to weave.

2 - Roughie value is sneaky—but only when pace doesn’t murder them.
The roughies that win tend to be the ones where the race has enough tempo to set up a sprint rather than a grind. If the leaders walk it, roughies usually turn into “almost” guys.

3 - “No Bet” isn’t laziness—it’s price discipline.
When the model blocks a selection, it usually means the place dividends don’t sit in a range that justifies the risk. In short: it’s not that they can’t run—it's that your money can’t be a hero tonight.

FINAL WORD FROM THE SICKO SANCTUARY

Alright legends—pick a lane, don’t chase every shiny toy, and let the pace story do the work for you. If one race turns into full chaos, that’s fine—just don’t bet like you’re invincible. Gamble Responsibly.
