Punty's take:
Grafton is set up like one of those AFL shootouts where the first ten minutes matter, because the Soft 5 drags you into real-time decision making. If you're not on the speed early in the sprints, you're basically running a second race in your head from the turn, trying to "make up ground" that the track stole from you. That said, the surface is forgiving enough for the right runner to sprint late if the pace fractures.
Race 1 is a classic maiden puzzle with the hot favourite doing that "I'm short for a reason" thing. Latin Lights maps handy and has the kind of soft-suited profile where a clean run through traffic turns into a straight line to the finish. Then you've got the other runners with enough reasons to fill the frame, and Soft 5 loves a horse that can travel without hitting the wall.
Race 4 and Race 6 are the two big danger zones, because the market is basically pointing at the leader-type and saying "here, have the money." I'll listen, but I'm also watching the value cracks. In Race 7, it's chaos time, this is where you let the each-way play breathe, then you keep your head while the mid-priced bolters do their thing.
