1700m · MAIDEN · 14:25
✓ WON +$14 Final

Race type: MAIDEN, 1700m
Map & tempo: Slow Pace, expected to be no early sprint heroics, So Fortunate likely does the travelling while Repeat Offender and others grind into it.
Punty read: This is a wet-track maiden where 1700m on Soft 7 turns into a tactical game, the winner is the one who gets the smoothest run through the middle and doesn't waste petrol early. So Fortunate (No.8) is the one I keep circling, she's got the best finish vibe in her sectionals and the market isn't messing around. Repeat Offender (No.7) is a classic "blinkers first time" type, if the race stays slow and the front bunch goes nowhere, he can absolutely pounce late. Armoury (No.1) looks like she's been digging for a better starting slot, but she's the type that can get held up in the mud and end up doing extra work.

Top 3 + Roughie ($15.00 pool)

★ PUNTY'S PICK 1. So Fortunate (No.8) — $1.90 / $1.25 🏆 WINNER
Bet $15.00 Win — ✓ Won, net +$13.50
Prob 58.9% | Place: 70.0% | Value: 1.49x
Why Short price for a reason, Soft 7 suits her run-on style and she's positioned to be travelling at the right time.

2. Repeat Offender (No.7) — $4.80 / $2.25 🏆 3RD
Bet Tracked
Prob 21.7% | Place: 53.9% | Value: 1.45x
Why Only two places paid in a field this size, and skinny place divvies make savers a mug's game — this is a win-only race. Tracked, not staked.

3. Bravo Six (No.2) — $11.00 / $3.70 🏆 2ND
Bet Tracked
Prob 9.9% | Place: 32.7% | Value: 0.98x

Roughie: Follow That Dream (No.6) — $9.20 / $2.70 🏆 5TH
Bet Tracked
Prob 7.2% | Place: 24.4% | Value: 0.59x
Why He's there for the trifecta addicts if the speed collapses, but win-only in this field is a risky ask.

1000m · CLASS 3 · 15:05
✓ WON +$39 Final

Race type: CLASS 3, 1000m
Map & tempo: Genuine Pace, The Big Ticket looks like the early driver, Jade Trees is right in the mix.
Punty read: This sprint is pure momentum, on Soft 7 it's about who can keep their footing through the grind. Jade Trees (No.4) is the one I want, she's drawn in a workable spot and she's the type to keep pushing late without needing a miracle gap. Kirra's Sister (No.6) and Amaya's Secret (No.5) are the logical threats if they nail the run, but the pace pressure shapes up so you don't want to be stuck on the wrong side of midfield. The Big Ticket (No.8) is a big price because he's more "headline leader" than proven finisher in this setup.

Top 3 + Roughie ($15.00 pool)

★ PUNTY'S PICK 1. Jade Trees (No.4) — $3.60 / $1.50 🏆 WINNER
Bet $15.00 Win — ✓ Won, net +$39.00
Prob 37.2% | Place: 61.5% | Value: 1.57x
Why On the pace, drawn to control the trip, and she should get first crack at the soft finish.

2. Kirra's Sister (No.6) — $3.80 / $1.52 🏆 3RD
Bet Tracked
Prob 32.2% | Place: 55.6% | Value: 1.39x

Bet Tracked
Prob 2.4% | Place: 6.6% | Value: 0.71x

2200m · BENCHMARK 58 · 15:40
✓ WON +$1 Final

Race type: BENCHMARK 58, 2200m
Map & tempo: Slow Pace, pace disadvantaged Flaming Genesis in the map, so it's about who can grind and still have something at the end.
Punty read: 2200m in Soft is where the race turns into a long, wet bargaining session. California Grass (No.4) is the standout for me, he's got the class look about him and the right sections for this distance type, he's also in the sort of spot where he can keep launching forward when others get tired. Woodland Wonder (No.7) is next, he's a legitimate "run-on and keep finding" type. Seeress (No.8) can absolutely clunk into the money if the race shape stays congested, but I'm not forcing it at the win price when the top two look set for the script.

Top 3 + Roughie ($7.50 pool)

1. California Grass (No.4) — $6.50 / $2.15 🏆 3RD
Bet $7.50 Each Way ($3.75W + $3.75P) — ✓ Won, net +$0.56
Prob 25.1% | Place: 46.1% | Value: 2.02x
Why Soft 2200m suits his grinding style, and he's the one built to stay effective through the last third.

2. Woodland Wonder (No.7) — $3.50 / $1.50 🏆 4TH
Bet Tracked
Prob 23.4% | Place: 56.3% | Value: 1.01x
Why The top pick's each-way already covers the place angle here — doubling up is paying twice for the same insurance. Tracked instead.

3. Seeress (No.8) — $6.00 / $1.90 🏆 UNPLACED
Bet Tracked
Prob 13.9% | Place: 46.1% | Value: 1.03x
Why Can pop a place, but the place layout makes this a saver-on-paper, not a ticket-on-mud.

Roughie: Sun Topaze (No.1) — $9.20 / $2.60 🏆 2ND
Bet Tracked
Prob 9.0% | Place: 32.7% | Value: 1.04x
Why A roughie route exists if traffic clears, but this is a "give me the right kind of finish" race.

✗ MISS -$13 Final

Race type: MAIDEN, 1400m
Map & tempo: Slow Pace, so the ones who can sit handy without burning up the battery are the danger.
Punty read: Maiden 1400m on Soft 7 is the definition of a messy puzzle, but Insain Chaos (No.6) is the piece that fits. She's got that "races close, doesn't get lost" style and she's priced like she should be doing something. Miss Fic (No.12) is a real place threat if the race breaks wide, and Who Loves A Harley (No.8) has the sort of profile that can sneak into the quinella if the leaders tire in the slop. Bobbiwaa (No.2) is on-pacer type, but we're not getting that same "likely to win" vibe compared to the top pick.

Top 3 + Roughie ($13.00 pool)

★ PUNTY'S PICK 1. Insain Chaos (No.6) — $2.80 / $1.32 🏆 2ND
Bet $13.00 Win — ✗ Lost, net -$13.00
Prob 39.0% | Place: 70.0% | Value: 1.31x
Why Track suits her, pace should be manageable, and the market support says they're serious.

2. Miss Fic (No.12) — $2.60 / $1.30 🏆 9TH
Bet Tracked
Prob 25.1% | Place: 70.0% | Value: 0.79x
Why A real chance — but at $1.30 the place the numbers don't give me enough edge to insure with. Watching, not betting.

3. Who Loves A Harley (No.8) — $5.50 / $1.75 🏆 WINNER
Bet Tracked
Prob 12.6% | Place: 46.1% | Value: 0.84x
Why If it's a chaos sprint he can fill a spot, but win value isn't screaming.

Roughie: Anderlyn (No.10) — $19.00 / $3.90 🏆 4TH

Prob 5.4% | Place: 25.1% | Value: 1.06x

✗ MISS -$10 Final

Race type: CLASS 1, 1400m
Map & tempo: Moderate Pace, steady enough to help the "keep going" horses, but Soft makes every turn cost.
Punty read: This is a proper mid-grade handicap where the front runners are trying to last, and the backmarkers are praying for a lottery. Referees (No.1) has the profile to keep grinding through the wet, and he's the one I'd want if the rail true helps the leaders hold their line. Doingiteasy (No.4) is the obvious danger, and Steady On (No.6) is the third leg of the "they'll finish in the same order" vibe. Predict The Future (No.9) is the roughie, and Tickle My Tosen (No.14) would need a miracle plus better timing than the average movie villain.

Top 3 + Roughie ($10.50 pool)

1. Referees (No.1) — $6.00 / $2.25 🏆 UNPLACED
Bet $10.50 Win — ✗ Lost, net -$10.50
Prob 25.7% | Place: 53.8% | Value: 1.95x
Why Wet track and 1400m, he looks like the kind who can take a run and hold it.

2. Doingiteasy (No.4) — $3.70 / $1.55 🏆 2ND
Bet Tracked
Prob 24.1% | Place: 59.7% | Value: 1.11x
Why A real chance — but at $1.55 the place the numbers don't give me enough edge to insure with. Watching, not betting.

3. Steady On (No.6) — $11.00 / $3.40 🏆 3RD
Bet Tracked
Prob 14.5% | Place: 46.1% | Value: 1.99x
Why Capable, but we're locking the win with Referees.

Roughie: Predict The Future (No.9) — $9.00 / $2.55 🏆 UNPLACED
Bet Tracked
Prob 8.2% | Place: 32.7% | Value: 0.90x
Why If the race turns into a scramble, he can hit a flat spot. Still, win is hard from the pocket.

✗ MISS -$20 Final

Race type: BENCHMARK 58, 1175m
Map & tempo: Genuine Pace, Ever So Ready is sitting right where it matters, and this short sprint punishes anyone who's too far back.
Punty read: This is a 1175m sprint, so "smart ride" becomes "survive the mud, win the angles". Ever So Ready (No.9) is the key horse, he's in the ON-PACE lane and he looks built to keep powering through the line rather than just warming up. Vendemmia (No.4) and Il Fratello (No.7) are the main opponents, both are the types that can drag others into their finish. Monaco Flyer (No.12) is the value roughie, he's got the market support edge on wet conditions, but I'm not putting him over the top when No.9 is sitting so nicely in the pocket.

Top 3 + Roughie ($20.00 pool)

1. Ever So Ready (No.9) — $3.00 / $1.50 🏆 3RD
Bet $15.00 Win — ✗ Lost, net -$15.00
Prob 30.3% | Place: 60.3% | Value: 1.13x
Why Pace advantage, short trip, and the wet track says "go forward or get swallowed".

2. Vendemmia (No.4) — $9.50 / $3.10 🏆 UNPLACED
Bet $5.00 Place — ✗ Lost, net -$5.00
Prob 14.7% | Place: 46.1% | Value: 1.71x
Why Win chance is real, but the exact betting price makes it a miss for the saver.

3. Il Fratello (No.7) — $7.00 / $2.50 🏆 WINNER
Bet Tracked
Prob 14.5% | Place: 46.1% | Value: 1.24x
Why Could run a cheeky race, but he's not the one I want to build the day around.

Roughie: Monaco Flyer (No.12) — $9.60 / $2.80 🏆 2ND
Bet Tracked
Prob 12.7% | Place: 38.9% | Value: 1.52x
Why If the race turns into a late sprint from the right part of the track, he's the one that can jump up and bite.

Punty's Early Mail

Rightio Loose Units, Grafton's on Soft 7 and the sky's doing that thing where it threatens to dump, then has a laugh and keeps you guessing, perfect. Pace is slow across most of the card, so if you're not parked close early, you'd better have a decent finishing motor and a jockey with a plan, not a vibe.

MEET SNAPSHOT

Track: Soft 7, 1000m-2200m card
Rail: True
Official going: Soft 7 (expected to play closer-to-the-speed, especially where the draw lines up)
Weather: Showers, stormy vibes in the air, watch for sudden wet patches (and that 50%+ rain risk flickering all day)
Early lane guess: Follow the maps in the 1st 400m, when it's slow, front runners get first dibs at the leashes
Tempo profile: Slow to genuine early, with races that suit on-pace stalkers more than deep backmarkers
Jockeys to follow:
Ben Looker: Sniffing opportunities, he's on the prime chances.
Grady Spokes: On-pace type, keeps them in the right part of the track.
Luke Rolls: Works into it, and today he rides like he's got a secret.
Stables to respect:
Stephen & Jordan Lee (4 runners): Their horses are showing up in the better spots, and they tend to be ready when they tip up.
B J Dodson (3 runners): With wet track conditions, their judgement day and race day timing matter.
Colt Prosser (3 runners): Has a few runs that look like they can sneak in the finish, even in maidens.

Punty's take:

Alright degens, this is one of those Grafton cards where the winners can look obvious on paper, then the whole thing still turns into a wet-blanket thriller because the ground is Soft 7 and everyone's snatching at traction. When it's slow, the front runners and the stalkers are the ones doing all the work, the backmarkers are relying on gaps appearing like TV plot armour.

Race 1 is basically a straight-up showdown between the short-priced favourite and a couple of "gear and wet-track" types who know how to run on. So Fortunate is drawn and mapped to make the race about her, and with the market supporting her, she's the one I want on my ticket. Race 2 is a pace race in a sprint suit, Jade Trees looks like she'll get first look at the wind-up, and the whole field screams "go early or lose early".

From there, we've got a classic staying test in Race 3 where the top two are the ones you'll hear about in the betting ring after 400m. Race 4 is a maiden with one horse that just keeps getting closer to paying rent, Insain Chaos is the stable style we want on a wet deck. Race 5 is a Class 1 where Referees and Doingiteasy look like they're set for the script. Then Race 6 is a benchmark sprint where the on-pace machines get the best run at the finish, and Ever So Ready is sitting right in that lane.

What it means for you:

If you're only backing one vibe today, back the map-aligned stuff and don't get cute in the wet. My aggressive angle is sticking with the Big 3 spine, then letting the rest of the races play out as value landmines, not full-blown chaos for chaos' sake.

For your bet plan: in Races 1, 2, 3 and 4, I'm taking the model's top call straight, because Soft 7 and slow tempo makes it harder for long-shot lanes to slice through traffic. In Races 5 and 6, I'm still siding with the top chances but I'm not getting carried away on the win-only prices when place value is doing the heavy lifting.
