Punty's Early Mail
For all of Punty's tips for Pinjarra, head to https://punty.ai/tips/pinjarra-2026-08-20
Rightio Sickos, Pinjarra on a Soft 5 with the rail jammed out is gonna turn this into a wet road trip where the early boys either get home or get absolutely bullied by the straight-running brigade. Expect gears to keep changing, riders to hunt for lanes, and at least one "I can see daylight" moment that gets instantly murdered in the last 100m.
LATE TRACK GUESS (and what it means): with 8mm in the last 24 hours and Soft 5 already cooked, you want horses that can keep pulling through the mud, not ones that rely on a clean sprint lane. The rail is +8m entire, so staying closer to the fence early is usually where the tamest trips start, and where your chances can grow instead of folding.
THE WAY I'M SPENDING MY BRAIN CELLS TODAY: the day's got a fair bit of mid-priced chaos, but the spine still runs through three specific winners candidates across different races. If you're doing anything besides betting, go watch something dumb like a Marvel montage, because Quaddie Day is built for sound decisions and one or two gut punches.
MEET SNAPSHOT
Track: Pinjarra, 1200m-2000m card
Rail: +8m entire
Official going: Soft 5 (expected to play Speed and Stamina, closer to the fence)
Weather: Partly cloudy, 9°C, humidity 92%, wind 13km/h NNE (watch for the gusts making footing a touch grabby in the straight)
Early lane guess: Way wider early, then lanes start opening once runners spread out and the mud settles
Tempo profile: Slow to moderate, the kind where the leaders can keep finding, but the finish still bites late
Jockeys to follow:
William Pike: gets the right spots and never panics in the lane chaos.
Alex Hearn: knows how to keep a horse working through the dead zones.
Patrick Carbery: when he's on a runner with pace, he makes it look easy.
Stables to respect:
N D Parnham (2 runners): keeps showing up with solid runs and gear tweaks that matter on wet tracks.
D & B Pearce (1 runner): small team energy, still finds the right moment to fire.
G C Ballantyne (2 runners): sends them out with intent, and his horses often handle sticky conditions better than their prices.
Punty's take:
Pinjarra on Soft 5 is a "where's your motor?" track. You can't just roll up and hope the sprint does the work for you, because the ground punishes horses that hit top speed and then stop trying. The rail is +8m entire, so I'm expecting the fence line to be kinder than the outside unless the inside is blocked and you're forced to go fishing.
Race tempo should be slow-ish across most of the card, with races that suit those who can keep position without getting bogged in traffic. That means the early speed map horses are still live, but you're hunting for riders who can ride the mud, not just ride the horse.
And yeah, I'm leaning into three race winners as the day's spine. After that, I'll build lanes for the quaddie because this meeting screams "one leg gets held up, one leg does something brave, and then you're either smiling or swearing at the screen".
What it means for you:
Aggressive where the pattern is clean: when the favourite maps well and has the right gear, I'm backing it to do the job. But when there's drift, or a horse looks "too short to touch" for the way it's showing up, that's where you save your cash and back the value route.
For Exotics Day thinking: keep the lanes tight around the top picks in the most predictable legs, then widen for the open races where luck and laneing are doing half the work. Quaddies here are like roulette, sure, but you can still pick the numbers that make sense. Don't go full degenerate and throw $50 at a prayer unless you've at least picked the prayer with pace.
PUNTY'S BIG 3 + MULTI
These are the three bets the day leans on.
1 - Trickster (Race 4, No.9) — $2.52
Why Maps to a forward trip, and the wet track rarely forgives horses that can't sustain position.
2 - Publicise (Race 5, No.3) — $1.78
Why Blink-and-you-miss the winning pocket, and this one's built to grind it out through a genuine pace.
3 - About Turn (Race 3, No.3) — $2.35
Why On the pace early, and Soft 5 usually makes front trips even more valuable.
Multi (all three to win): $10 × ~ $11.00 = ~ $110 collect
Race 1 – Vehicle Inspections Maiden (Mandurah), 2013m
Race type: MAIDEN, 2013m
Map & tempo: Slow pace, backmarkers get no favours early but soft ground can reward any runner who finds clear air
Punty read:
This one's a slog. Slow tempo means backmarkers can survive longer than you'd think, but only if they avoid getting trapped in the "dead lane sandwich". Sin City Boy has tongue tie first time and an early-position map, so if the first couple of moves don't get covered, he's the kind of "steal a run" favourite.
He'snotallthere is the big EW type because it's the sort that can drift into the best part of the track late when others are still working through the mud. The value shock in this race is Consolidated, because at this distance and on Soft, sometimes a horse that looks like it's doomed can suddenly find a lane and run on like someone just switched the lights on.
Top 3 + Roughie (Total stake: $13.00 pool)
1. He'snotallthere (No.6) — $4.05 / $1.70
Bet $13.00 Each Way ($6.50W + $6.50P), return $26.32 (wins) / $11.05 (places)
Prob 19.4% | Place: 56.2% | Value: 0.78x
Why He's got the place profile for Soft 5, and the way this track plays, you can get paid for running on late when others are stuck.
2. Sin City Boy (No.2) — $3.75 / $1.65
Bet Tracked
Prob 20.1% | Place: 61.5% | Value: 1.33x
Why The top pick's each-way already covers the place angle here — doubling up is paying twice for the same insurance. Tracked instead.
3. Pembeton (No.1) — $5.10 / $1.90
Bet Tracked
Prob 13.6% | Place: 47.0% | Value: 0.63x
Why Third line of the market is where place bets go to die slowly — the ledger says so at every price. He carries the exotics and the watch list, not the bankroll.
Roughie: Consolidated (No.8) — $9.60 / $2.90
Bet Tracked
Prob 7.9% | Place: 28.5% | Value: 1.21x
Why If the gaps appear late and the mud allows a sustaining run, he can slot into the finish better than his price suggests.
Race 2 – Western Racepix Maiden, 1300m
Race type: MAIDEN, 1300m
Map & tempo: Slow pace, speed matters more than people think at 1300m on Soft 5, because the field doesn't stretch as cleanly
Punty read:
Rocktex is the class of this like a bloke turning up to a footy game with actual skills. But the betting has drifted hard in some of these markets, so I'm focusing on who can actually hold position without getting bogged. Cassandra is the other big name, and she's the sort that can sit handy and then be a nuisance through the line.
Rocky Beach is the "maybe the run comes wider" type, and Aura Magna and Slaters Legacy are the ones who can easily get dragged into the right fight if the tempo stays soft and the inside doesn't cut up too much.
Top 3 + Roughie (Total stake: $22.00 pool)
1. Rocktex (No.1) — $1.90 / $1.25
Bet $17.00 Win, return $32.30
Prob 30.3% | Place: 69.0% | Value: 1.16x
Why Soft 5 and a maiden at 1300m, you want the one that keeps getting to the right parts of the track, and Rocktex looks made for it.
2. Cassandra (No.7) — $2.38 / $1.55
Bet $5.00 Place, return $7.75
Prob 25.8% | Place: 69.0% | Value: 0.97x
Why Can find a spot early, and if she's not winning, she's right there punching for a place.
3. Rocky Beach (No.4) — $6.00 / $1.95
Bet Tracked
Prob 11.9% | Place: 47.0% | Value: 0.58x
Why Third line of the market is where place bets go to die slowly — the ledger says so at every price. He carries the exotics and the watch list, not the bankroll.
Roughie: Aura Magna (No.5) — $10.00 / $2.65
Bet Tracked
Prob 6.2% | Place: 27.2% | Value: 0.64x
Why For a roughie to win, it needs the race to fall apart and her to get a clear lane without getting stitched up.
Race 3 – State Wide Turf Services Maiden, 1400m
Race type: MAIDEN, 1400m
Map & tempo: Moderate pace, pace is king but laneing decides who finishes off strong in Soft 5
Punty read:
About Turn is the obvious story: on the pace, and in a maiden over 1400m on Soft, if you can keep going without getting stuck in traffic, you're giving yourself every chance to hit the line first. Zero To Sixty is the classic danger, the kind who can get involved early and then keep grinding because Soft rewards proper balance.
Diamond Choux is the sneaky one for place chances, but this is the kind of race where the best run is usually the one that's ridden through the mud, not around it. If the track bunches, the front runners get first crack at the finish.
Top 3 + Roughie (Total stake: $22.00 pool)
1. About Turn (No.3) — $2.35 / $1.32
Bet $17.00 Win, return $39.95
Prob 33.8% | Place: 69.0% | Value: 1.15x
Why Leaders have an advantage here and this one has the map to keep taking runs, not asking for them.
2. Zero To Sixty (No.4) — $5.10 / $2.00
Bet $5.00 Place, return $10.00
Prob 11.1% | Place: 40.3% | Value: 1.17x
Why Cross-over nose band off first time, and 1400m Soft is where consistent runners can sneak into the money.
3. Diamond Choux (No.7) — $7.75 / $2.65
Bet Tracked
Prob 8.7% | Place: 34.3% | Value: 0.60x
Why Third line of the market is where place bets go to die slowly — the ledger says so at every price. He carries the exotics and the watch list, not the bankroll.
Roughie: Pure 'n' Simple (No.9) — $9.20 / $3.00
Bet Tracked
Prob 7.4% | Place: 29.0% | Value: 0.43x
Why If the pace collapses or the front line gets pinned, it can run on late, otherwise it's a tough road to winning.
Race 4 – TABtouch Download Today Maiden, 1600m
Race type: MAIDEN, 1600m
Map & tempo: Slow pace, 1600m means you can still make ground, but you've gotta be positioned when the track starts to tire
Punty read:
Trickster is the big picture here. It's got the forward profile and the lane access that often wins these 1600m maiden battles on Soft 5, where everybody is saving something for the final bend. Atsui Haru is the saver angle, but this race really boils down to whether Trickster gets a comfortable run and gets to challenge without being forced wide too early.
History Supreme is the one that can pop into the trifecta party if it lands the right run, but I'm not letting it steal the show as the main bet. The wet track punishes horses who don't keep travelling.
Top 3 + Roughie (Total stake: $13.00 pool)
1. Trickster (No.9) — $2.52 / $1.25
Bet $13.00 Win, return $32.76
Prob 41.3% | Place: 69.0% | Value: 1.29x
Why Winkers off first time and it's been building toward this kind of race, forward enough to strike but not trapped behind.
2. Atsui Haru (No.11) — $2.22 / $1.17
Bet Tracked
Prob 24.6% | Place: 69.0% | Value: 1.20x
Why A real chance — but at $1.17 the place he's not a saver, he's a punt, and that's not a price I insure at. Watching, not betting.
3. History Supreme (No.5) — $8.50 / $2.45
Bet Tracked
Prob 10.8% | Place: 53.8% | Value: 1.08x
Why Third line of the market is where place bets go to die slowly — the ledger says so at every price. He carries the exotics and the watch list, not the bankroll.
Roughie: Sylva Jack (No.1) — $15.00 / $3.60
Bet Tracked
Prob 5.0% | Place: 23.4% | Value: 0.67x
Why For Sylva Jack to win, it needs the leaders to get chewed up by the Soft and for it to find a clean run at the right time.
Race 5 – Electrical Consultancy WA Hcp (C5), 1600m
Race type: HANDICAP, 1600m
Map & tempo: Genuine pace on, and that helps some but destroys others on Soft 5
Punty read:
Publicise is the sharp end of the market and I get why. At 1600m on a Soft 5, genuine pace usually means the race will be decided by who can keep efficiency when the ground takes more out of them. Late Arrival can be dangerous, especially if it gets a forward stalking trip, but the safest "sits in the pocket and keeps winning sections" read is Publicise.
Rosie Can Run is a classy runner but the odds says she's a bit of a save job. Where's My Lunch is your value pulse if the leaders lose their grip.
Top 3 + Roughie (Total stake: $19.00 pool)
1. Publicise (No.3) — $1.78 / $1.15
Bet $14.00 Win, return $24.92
Prob 37.9% | Place: 69.0% | Value: 1.18x
Why It's the type that handles pace, and when a horse can keep attacking late on Soft, it usually grabs the race from the front middle.
2. Late Arrival (No.1) — $2.83 / $1.60
Bet $5.00 Place, return $8.00
Prob 18.7% | Place: 69.0% | Value: 0.93x
Why If Publicise does everything right, Late Arrival is still there in the battle for the money, especially if the pace shapes up.
3. Rosie Can Run (No.4) — $2.28 / $1.40
Bet Tracked
Prob 17.5% | Place: 69.0% | Value: 0.69x
Why Third line of the market is where place bets go to die slowly — the ledger says so at every price. He carries the exotics and the watch list, not the bankroll.
Roughie: Where's My Lunch (No.9) — $12.00 / $2.80
Bet Tracked
Prob 6.7% | Place: 29.0% | Value: 1.41x
Why If the leaders start fading early, it's got the running style to swoop late when others are stuck in the soft.
Race 6 – TABtouch Share My Bet (Bm46+), 1500m
Race type: HANDICAP, 1500m
Map & tempo: Moderate pace, but it's a "position and kick" contest where the right horse gets to breathe
Punty read:
Cosmic Eclipse is the winner lean, and it's got the blend of map and staying power for this sort of chaos handicap. Kelora is tempting but can be a touch exposed on price. Miss Wall Street is the other one I respect, more as a value place type if things break right.
This race is about not getting trapped at the wrong time. On Soft 5, momentum is everything. Get rolling, and the finish is yours to take.
Top 3 + Roughie (Total stake: $10.50 pool)
1. Cosmic Eclipse (No.3) — $5.60 / $2.15
Bet $10.50 Each Way ($5.25W + $5.25P), return $29.40 (wins) / $11.29 (places)
Prob 13.9% | Place: 56.2% | Value: 1.09x
Why Backmarker profile that can still lift, and this distance on Soft usually favours horses who can keep their rhythm.
2. Kelora (No.1) — $4.90 / $1.95
Bet Tracked
Prob 9.8% | Place: 36.6% | Value: 0.86x
Why The top pick's each-way already covers the place angle here — doubling up is paying twice for the same insurance. Tracked instead.
3. Miss Wall Street (No.2) — $7.20 / $2.50
Bet Tracked
Prob 8.9% | Place: 34.1% | Value: 1.20x
Why Third line of the market is where place bets go to die slowly — the ledger says so at every price. He carries the exotics and the watch list, not the bankroll.
Roughie: Cherokee Miss (No.9) — $9.40 / $3.30
Bet Tracked
Prob 9.4% | Place: 35.9% | Value: 1.24x
Why Needs everything to line up, and on handicap days that can happen, but it can also turn into a long day fast.
Race 7 – Racing@ Pinjarra Park Alcoa Cup Sun Dec 6 Hcp (C1), 1300m
Race type: HANDICAP, 1300m
Map & tempo: Genuine pace, short race means the winner usually gets to the right spots early and keeps working
Punty read:
Radiant Light is the price anchor with the best blend of pace and track profile, and I'm with it. Cosmo Ruler is the obvious danger, and it's got enough presence to take a run early and not get drowned by the pack.
Cawarra at double figures is the sort of pick you can't ignore because if the race is won by one of those "soft ground, strong run" types, it's the wide-run finisher that can still hit the line hard.
Top 3 + Roughie (Total stake: $19.00 pool)
1. Radiant Light (No.5) — $3.75 / $1.65
Bet $14.00 Win, return $52.50
Prob 22.1% | Place: 65.1% | Value: 1.14x
Why On the pace profile and this Soft 5 setup usually rewards runners who get balanced early. Radiant Light looks ready to do that.
2. Cosmo Ruler (No.7) — $2.62 / $1.40
Bet $5.00 Place, return $7.00
Prob 20.1% | Place: 66.6% | Value: 0.72x
Why If the leaders go hard, it can still slot in and nab a place without needing to win the whole race.
3. Cawarra (No.10) — $11.00 / $3.40
Bet Tracked
Prob 8.9% | Place: 29.5% | Value: 1.43x
Why Third line of the market is where place bets go to die slowly — the ledger says so at every price. He carries the exotics and the watch list, not the bankroll.
Roughie: Cable Rock (No.11) — $9.15 / $2.90
Bet Tracked
Prob 7.9% | Place: 28.5% | Value: 0.99x
Why For Cable Rock to win, it needs a perfect trip and the leaders to fold late. Not impossible, just not the day's plan.
SEQUENCE LANES
Quaddie (R4–R7)
Smart: 9,11,5 / 3,1,4,9 / 3,9,11 / 7,5,11 (108 combos x $0.19 = $20.00) -- 19% flexi
Punty's take: Two legs are tighter with the clear types, but Race 6 and Race 7 are still open enough to demand coverage, so treat it like a risky entertainment quad with a sensible spine.
NUGGETS FROM THE TRACK
1 - Soft 5 means the fence can actually be gold.
With rail +8m entire, the "don't get pinned wide" horses keep saving ground, and that tends to matter more than sheer speed when the track is holding moisture.
2 - The winners today usually get a plan, not a chase.
Slow tempo races on this card punish riders who try to do too much too early. The best trips are the ones where the horse is always travelling, not stuck in a stop-start.
3 - Watch the gear like it's gossip from the birdcage.
Tongue tie, winkers on and off, brow bands, nose bands, those are all telling you the stable wants a better mind and better action through the kick zone. When the market backs those runs, you pay attention.
FINAL WORD FROM THE SICKO SANCTUARY
This card's set up for smart punters who can still enjoy chaos, because the mud makes liars out of shortcuts. Get your spine right, respect the lane angles, and if one runner misses, don't go full movie villain, just reset and move on. Gamble Responsibly.
