Festival Hire Mdn Plate
1200m · Maiden · 13:05
✗ MISS -$15 Final

Race type: Maiden Plate, 1200m
Map & tempo: Slow Pace, Copperflange is the pace advantaged one, but everyone's still chasing position

Punty read:
This is the "who gets the run through the gears" race. It's slow, so the horses that can hold a spot midfield and then get clear are the ones that cash. Bishop's Choice draws out a bit, but she's the sort that can sit midfield and pounce once traffic opens. Stoops is the other danger, she's been sitting in the right areas and should get her shot if the tempo stays moderate. Copperflange is right there on the on-pace profile too, but maidens love a random twist, so I'm treating it like a place prospect.

Top 3 + Roughie ($15.00 pool)

1. Bishop's Choice (No.1) — $3.10 / $1.60 🏆 6TH
Bet $15.00 Win — ✗ Lost, net -$15.00
Prob 27.0% | Place: 55.3% | Value: 1.16x
Why Best blend of market support and midfield map, last run has excuses and this is a shorter, cleaner look.

2. Stoops (No.7) — $3.80 / $1.85 🏆 WINNER
Bet Tracked
Prob 24.8% | Place: 52.2% | Value: 1.36x
Why Strong value angle, but this field pays so thin that the model won't let us waste a stake on a win-only setup.

3. Copperflange (No.6) — $4.60 / $2.20 🏆 4TH
Bet Tracked
Prob 17.9% | Place: 39.1% | Value: 0.82x
Why He's good enough to run a cheeky race, but he's not the value price today.

Roughie: It's A Solid Deel (No.3) — $9.80 / $3.70 🏆 3RD
Bet Tracked
Prob 4.6% | Place: 12.2% | Value: 0.27x
Why Roughie path exists, but the place-paying picture is too stingy for the chaos you'd need.

✗ MISS -$12 Final

Race type: Maiden Plate, 1498m
Map & tempo: Slow Pace, Tennessee Fire and Kung Fu Kisses are pace advantaged

Punty read:
This one sets up like a two-horse job if the early pace stays calm. Tennessee Fire and Sweet Kick both look like they can do the right thing early, and with the distance, you'll get a proper grind instead of a kick-and-run. Tennessee Fire in barrier 1 is huge here, because on these tracks you want to be close enough to use the lane when the bunch starts to stretch. Sweet Kick is the obvious other live runner, and if the leaders wobble, Hamilton Brown style late runs can pop up, but model says we keep it simple.

Top 3 + Roughie ($12.00 pool)

1. Tennessee Fire (No.1) — $2.30 / $1.35 🏆 2ND
Bet $12.00 Win — ✗ Lost, net -$12.00
Prob 30.6% | Place: 58.2% | Value: 1.28x
Why Barrier 1, pace-friendly profile, and the stable look like they've got intent. This is built for her to be involved early and keep going.

2. Sweet Kick (No.6) — $2.80 / $1.55 🏆 WINNER
Bet Tracked
Prob 30.0% | Place: 58.2% | Value: 1.18x
Why The model has Tennessee Fire as the win anchor, so Sweet Kick becomes a respect, not a spend.

3. Sir Aali (No.5) — $5.00 / $2.30 🏆 4TH
Bet Tracked
Prob 14.2% | Place: 29.0% | Value: 0.92x
Why Has a possible place run, but not strong enough to justify backing when value is concentrated at the front.

Roughie: Badjawa (No.2) — $15.00 / $3.80 🏆 7TH
Bet Tracked
Prob 4.0% | Place: 12.2% | Value: 0.60x

✗ MISS -$12 Final

Race type: Bm58, 1498m
Map & tempo: Moderate Pace, Otto's Dream and Star Decorum are pace advantaged

Punty read:
This race looks like it's been drawn by someone who loves on-pace horses. Star Casino is the standout early presence, and Kikorangi is the kind of stalker that can hit the gap and mow down the field when the tempo holds. Ghemme and Otto's Dream are the ones who can sneak into the top end if the speed goes too hard, but the race shape says you're backing those who can stay handy and not get trapped behind them. It's like finding the right seat in the cinema, you either see the whole plot, or you miss the punchline.

Top 3 + Roughie ($12.00 pool)

1. Star Casino (No.1) — $1.50 / $1.08 🏆 3RD
Bet $12.00 Win — ✗ Lost, net -$12.00
Prob 32.5% | Place: 60.0% | Value: 0.62x
Why Proven track fit and on-pace, plus the sort of run that turns into a straight-out victory when the leaders aren't forced to sprint.

2. Kikorangi (No.4) — $4.80 / $1.95 🏆 WINNER
Bet Tracked
Prob 30.2% | Place: 58.6% | Value: 1.95x
Why Value is real, but because of the field paying structure, model keeps stake on the top win anchor.

3. Ghemme (No.2) — $8.50 / $2.90 🏆 5TH
Bet Tracked
Prob 10.5% | Place: 21.7% | Value: 1.18x
Why Could run a decent one, but the odds say she's paying for the hope, not the plan.

Bet Tracked
Prob 12.9% | Place: 28.5% | Value: 1.47x

✗ MISS -$12 Final

Race type: Bm56, 1200m
Map & tempo: Genuine Pace, Scandalist is pace advantaged, Zatanna is the leader and pace line

Punty read:
This is the "trainers, drivers, and pride" sprint. With Zatanna on the lead line, the key is whether anyone can put real heat on her without stuffing the rest of the field. Kahlua Girl sits handy on pace and looks like the one who can turn it into a two-horse thriller if Zatanna has to do too much. Samanth is the danger if the leaders battle, she's the type to capitalise on any gap forming. Scandalist and the long shots are there for the trifecta dream, but the story is speed controlling speed.

Top 3 + Roughie ($12.00 pool)

1. Zatanna (No.1) — $1.95 / $1.25 🏆 2ND
Bet $12.00 Win — ✗ Lost, net -$12.00
Prob 32.0% | Place: 62.7% | Value: 0.79x
Why She's the leader and the rail makes it easier to travel, if she sets the race, she should be there at the hit the line.

2. Kahlua Girl (No.2) — $3.70 / $1.75 🏆 7TH
Bet Tracked
Prob 31.3% | Place: 62.7% | Value: 1.50x
Why The market will see her, but we keep the spend tight behind the top win profile.

3. Samanth (No.4) — $4.00 / $1.90 🏆 WINNER
Bet Tracked
Prob 20.8% | Place: 47.0% | Value: 0.85x
Why She's in the mix for the right trip, just not a value bet for win-only.

Roughie: Scandalist (No.5) — $15.00 / $4.20 🏆 4TH

Prob 4.2% | Place: 12.2% | Value: 0.80x

✓ WON +$29 Final

Race type: Handicap (52), 1498m
Map & tempo: Genuine Pace, Hamilton Brown advantaged, I'm Kenny is a leader but can get pressured

Punty read:
This handicap is about who can hold the line in traffic and who gets a clear lane at the business end. I'm Kenny is the obvious front-end presence and he'll get his chances, but he's vulnerable if they stack too close and he has to switch paths too early. Hubristic is the value-magnet on talent and track feel, and Hamilton Brown has the right sort of running style to keep grinding late. Bad To The Bone is the one who can pop into the numbers, but I'm treating this like a top-three sort of finish where the market might be underpricing the consistent battlers.

Top 3 + Roughie ($23.50 pool)

1. Hubristic (No.6) — $2.90 / $1.25 🏆 WINNER
Bet $7.50 Win — ✓ Won, net +$14.25
Prob 27.7% | Place: 69.0% | Value: 1.03x
Why Strong place profile with the pace working for him, if he keeps running, the line comes thick.

2. I'm Kenny (No.1) — $3.30 / $1.37 🏆 2ND
Bet $8.50 Place — ✓ Won, net +$5.95
Prob 27.6% | Place: 69.0% | Value: 1.17x
Why If the tempo doesn't go nuclear, the leader's on a good honest sprint of a race. Place money looks safe-ish.

3. Hamilton Brown (No.5) — $5.00 / $1.65 🏆 3RD
Bet $7.50 Place — ✓ Won, net +$9.00
Prob 18.4% | Place: 69.0% | Value: 1.18x
Why Midfield grind with a legit chance of being in the right spot when the leaders tire.

Roughie: Sengoki (No.4) — $10.00 / $2.55 🏆 7TH

Prob 9.4% | Place: 40.3% | Value: 1.21x

✓ WON +$11 Final

Race type: Bm56, 1867m
Map & tempo: Slow Pace, Cracken Good Time is pace advantaged, but this is a long race where midfield traffic matters

Punty read:
Longer distance, slow tempo, and a bunch of horses that can sit close enough to benefit when the real run starts. Overloaded looks like a livelier option on paper, but this is a race where Ichibansan and Fox Dunnett can absolutely eat up the last part of the track. Ichibansan has the kind of presence where blinkers and a clear run can turn "maybe" into "no, seriously," and Fox Dunnett is the sort who benefits when the pace is controlled, then late lanes appear. Cracken Good Time and Never Surrender are the wild cards, but the model says the money is in the top three and the place mechanics.

Top 3 + Roughie ($19.50 pool)

1. Overloaded (No.4) — $3.20 / $1.45 🏆 WINNER
Bet $12.50 Each Way ($6.25W + $6.25P) — ✓ Won, net +$18.44
Prob 21.8% | Place: 69.0% | Value: 0.89x
Why This is the perfect each-way shape, he's got enough speed to be involved and the distance gives him more opportunities to hang on.

2. Ichibansan (No.1) — $5.50 / $1.85 🏆 2ND
Bet Tracked
Prob 18.4% | Place: 56.2% | Value: 1.29x
Why The model already covered the Each Way base, so no need to double up and over-insure.

3. Fox Dunnett (No.2) — $5.00 / $1.75 🏆 UNPLACED
Bet $7.00 Place — ✗ Lost, net -$7.00
Prob 18.4% | Place: 66.9% | Value: 1.17x
Why Place is the play here, he profiles as a late grinder who can slide into the money when the race stringens.

Roughie: Cracken Good Time (No.6) — $13.00 / $3.10 🏆 UNPLACED
Bet Tracked
Prob 5.9% | Place: 21.7% | Value: 0.97x

✗ MISS -$8 Final

Race type: Handicap (52), 1100m
Map & tempo: Moderate Pace, Born To Shine, Wandering Eye, Elegant Man are pace advantaged

Punty read:
Sprint handicaps are always a little bit savage because everyone wants to be "just on the speed." The key is which horse can hold a straight line through the chaos and not get forced three-wide with no air. Shikanic is the model's main pick because it combines on-pace intent with a track-and-ride profile that usually performs in these sprint patterns. Exonumia is the value play at the win-and-place level, and if Shikanic kicks and gets tangled, Exonumia is the one who can pick up the pieces. Born To Shine is the honest on-pace option, but at the odds, he's more of a place saver than a full send.

Top 3 + Roughie ($22.00 pool)

1. Shikanic (No.1) — $2.70 / $1.22 🏆 4TH
Bet $6.50 Win — ✗ Lost, net -$6.50
Prob 27.4% | Place: 69.0% | Value: 0.96x
Why Looks like the right kind of sprinter to control position early and not get bullied late. Barrier is a plus, and the run should be there.

2. Exonumia (No.3) — $3.50 / $1.45 🏆 2ND
Bet $9.00 Place — ✓ Won, net +$4.50
Prob 27.3% | Place: 67.2% | Value: 1.24x
Why This is classic value place leverage, on-pace style and enough class to hit the line if the gaps come.

3. Born To Shine (No.4) — $6.00 / $1.85 🏆 7TH
Bet $6.50 Place — ✗ Lost, net -$6.50
Prob 12.8% | Place: 67.2% | Value: 0.99x
Why Speed helps and the handicap sprint usually rewards those who can keep finding the front chunk.

Roughie: Elegant Man (No.8) — $34.00 / $5.00 🏆 9TH
Bet Tracked
Prob 2.3% | Place: 12.2% | Value: 1.03x
Why Roughie only wins if the front completely falls in a heap, and we're not buying that fairytale with real money.

Punty's Early Mail

Rightio Loose Units, Port Augusta on a sun-dried Good track, rails true and the day screaming for early position, fast feet, and a couple of horses that get a run through the "maybe luck" corridor.

7 races, 55 runners, 3 scratchings. That's plenty of room for chaos, but the tempo picture is mostly sane, which is lucky, because we're here to print a clean-ish card with a Big 3 spine and lanes that can survive a little bit of ugly.

MEET SNAPSHOT

Track: Good, 1200m-1867m card
Rail: True
Official going: Good (expected to play speed and "get on" types)
Weather: Sunny, 15°C (watch for a crisp snap and no wet-track excuses)
Early lane guess: Tight to the fence early, then the outside comes into play when the leaders begin to breathe hard
Tempo profile: Mostly slow to moderate, meaning the leaders can control it, but if they soften you'll see run-ons late
Jockeys to follow:
Isaac Sit: often puts the horse where it wants to be, and when he's on a map horse it's usually party time.
Wesley Cave: class act on these Port tracks, tends to keep them ticking over and then lets them go when the lane appears.
Ms Jemma Gutte: tracks well and shows intent early, when she gets a clear run, she's hard to peg back.
Stables to respect:
Scott Whittle (1 runners): when he shows up with a short price, it's usually because they're ready to do the job.
Chris Bieg (2 runners): persistent with these mid-grade maidens, they land on the right day more often than they miss.
Garret Lynch (8 runners): plenty of runners across the card, and his horses generally come with a plan, not just a prayer.

Punty's take:

This meeting has "position" written all over it. With the rail true and a dry Good surface, speed doesn't just survive, it gets paid. The slow tempo in a few races means the front two or three can turn it into a procession, until one of them gets a bit keen, then the stalkers swoop like a couple of blokes spotting a discount rack at a servo.

Where I'm leaning is simple, in Race 2 and Race 3 the map looks like it sets up the short-priced horses to lead, and in Race 4 the benchmark 56 sprint is basically a two-horse movie, Zatanna and Kahlua Girl, with Samanth looking like the "if they battle, I'm home" role. Then in the back end, Race 6 is classic place-leverage territory, because the market can be wrong and the finish can be closer than you think.

Also, the market is doing that thing where it firms hard on a couple and then drifts on the pretenders. When you see the drift, treat it like a red traffic light. If you back it anyway, do it with your eyes open and your sense of humour turned on.

What it means for you:

Be aggressive where the pace and barrier line up, and be smart where the fields get a bit too many for pure win bets. That's why the card leans into Win for the Big 3 horses, then swings to Place or Each Way in the places that look like they'll bunch up late.

Gameplan wise:

  1. Win the races that look like they're built for the favourite to control.
  2. Protect yourself in the long-ish handicap races where traffic and hold-ups can turn "perfect" into "fourth again."
  3. Save your roughy punts for the ones with a clear run to winning, not just a big number that looks pretty in the app.

And if you're building exotics, don't go full degenerate with every combination. This card wants discipline with a bit of filth sprinkled on top.
