Punty's Punts
Race type: Maiden, 1615m
Map & tempo: Genuine Pace, Rang A Round Up pushing it early
Punty read:
This race is basically a "who gets into the race early enough" test. Rang A Round Up wants the front, Marquisard looks like he'll keep trying to make his own luck from the outside of the speed group, and Hakusan is the other on-pacer who can run a straight line at the right moment. Lollie's Galore is drawn midfield, but she's got enough early speed to be within striking distance without starting a sprint too early. If she gets clear air, she hits the line hard, if she doesn't, she still looks like the one you can land a placing on and move on.
Top 3 + Roughie ($15.00 pool)
★ PUNTY'S PICK 1. Lollie's Galore (No.2) — $2.80 / $1.45 🏆 2ND
Bet $15.00 Win — ✗ Lost, net -$15.00
Prob 35.0% | Place: 69.0% | Value: 1.13x
Why Market favourite with the right midfield positioning for a genuine pace, plus she's coming in with form that suggests she's close enough to pounce.
2. Mr Margolin (No.4) — $4.20 / $1.72 🏆 WINNER
Bet Tracked
Prob 19.5% | Place: 69.0% | Value: 1.15x
Why A real chance — but at $1.72 the place the numbers don't give me enough edge to insure with. Watching, not betting.
3. Golden Thoughts (No.1) — $5.50 / $2.05 🏆 UNPLACED
Bet Tracked
Prob 14.0% | Place: 56.2% | Value: 0.97x
Why First-time blinkers and noseband gear can sharpen him up, but I'm treating it as a place chance with the pace map doing the heavy lifting.
Roughie: Victory Edition (No.6) — $11.00 / $2.85 🏆 3RD
Bet Tracked
Prob 6.0% | Place: 23.4% | Value: 0.80x
Why If the race turns into a bit of a battle and the speed softens late, she can tack on through the finish and pinch a big slice of the trifecta pies.
Race type: Maiden, 1415m
Map & tempo: Moderate Pace, Spiridon on the speed
Punty read:
This looks like a pace-guided maiden where Pain Au Chocolat's the one you want if you're hunting a finishing threat that still has the tactical speed. Kosaji looks like he'll be in the right zone to hit the line too. The danger is the race turning into a slow grind where midfield speed wins fights, and you end up picking the wrong kind of closer. That's why I'm sticking with the market read for the top two and using Rock The Vendi as a value place route type.
Top 3 + Roughie ($18.00 pool)
1. Pain Au Chocolat (No.10) — $3.10 / $1.52 🏆 4TH
Bet $13.00 Win — ✗ Lost, net -$13.00
Prob 22.4% | Place: 69.0% | Value: 0.81x
Why He's got the profile to be prominent enough to save ground and still get rolling late, plus the pace situation suits a horse that can travel and strike.
2. Kosaji (No.5) — $9.00 / $2.70 🏆 UNPLACED
Bet $5.00 Place — ✗ Lost, net -$5.00
Prob 17.0% | Place: 54.3% | Value: 1.07x
Why Best chance if he's in that sweet spot behind the speed, when the tempo stays honest and the lane opens at the right time.
3. Rock The Vendi (No.11) — $4.00 / $1.70 🏆 UNPLACED
Bet Tracked
Prob 15.1% | Place: 44.6% | Value: 0.70x
Why There's pace and timing here, and the sectionals direction points to him being ready to run on when others are still debating.
Roughie: Mister Whiskers (No.6) — $9.00 / $2.75 🏆 WINNER
Bet Tracked
Prob 8.2% | Place: 29.0% | Value: 1.03x
Why If the market front-runner types get boxed up, he can sneak into the place money with a clean late run.
Race type: Maiden, 1415m
Map & tempo: Slow Pace, Galactic Girl the pace helper
Punty read:
Slow pace maidens are tricky, but they also expose who actually has the gas when the sprint finally arrives. Zendarina looks like the main character here, able to hold a position and still finish with intent. Zovozo is the other one who can sprint right through you if the race shapes where she gets a decent run at the corner. More Foxie is the value place prospect, because in slow tempo races, it only takes one bit of room and she's in it.
Top 3 + Roughie ($13.00 pool)
★ PUNTY'S PICK 1. Zendarina (No.12) — $2.25 / $1.25 🏆 WINNER
Bet $13.00 Win — ✓ Won, net +$16.25
Prob 36.5% | Place: 69.0% | Value: 1.27x
Why This is her type of race, she's got the right blend of early position and late punch in a slow tempo where timing matters.
2. Zovozo (No.13) — $3.80 / $1.65 🏆 2ND
Bet Tracked
Prob 19.5% | Place: 69.0% | Value: 0.66x
Why A real chance — but at $1.65 the place the numbers don't give me enough edge to insure with. Watching, not betting.
3. More Foxie (No.3) — $7.20 / $2.10 🏆 3RD
Bet Tracked
Prob 14.1% | Place: 54.8% | Value: 1.05x
Why She's built for a late burst type of scenario, and if they go too slow too soon she gets the perfect launch.
Roughie: All Too Single (No.6) — $9.50 / $2.85 🏆 UNPLACED
Bet Tracked
Prob 6.4% | Place: 27.9% | Value: 0.50x
Why Risky for the win, but if the kick turns into a mess at the 200, she can clunk into place contention late.
Race type: Maiden, 1206m
Map & tempo: Slow Pace, short course grind
Punty read:
1200m maidens at Sale are about who balances fastest, who gets the cart around the corner without losing travel, and who doesn't blow out late when the sprint hits. Classic Secret is the one that can control the rhythm, Lucky General is the other who can run on and make it tough, and Run Run Win is a sneaky threat if the pattern stays compact. Braemar Hill is a value flyer if he gets enough room to hit the line, but the stable needs the trip to go his way.
Top 3 + Roughie ($13.00 pool)
1. Classic Secret (No.12) — $2.50 / $1.37 🏆 UNPLACED
Bet $13.00 Win — ✗ Lost, net -$13.00
Prob 32.8% | Place: 69.0% | Value: 1.33x
Why He has the right profile for a slow grind, the kind of horse who can hit the straight with something left and not need luck.
2. Lucky General (No.7) — $6.50 / $2.40 🏆 UNPLACED
Bet Tracked
Prob 16.7% | Place: 56.2% | Value: 1.24x

Bet Tracked
Prob 11.3% | Place: 40.3% | Value: 1.32x
Why This is the "wins if it breaks right" type, he's positioned to clobber them late.
Roughie: Braemar Hill (No.1) — $11.50 / $2.90 🏆 3RD
Bet Tracked
Prob 8.2% | Place: 29.0% | Value: 1.29x
Why First-run type gear can sharpen him, and if the race is tight at the 200, he's the one who can suddenly find the accelerator.
Race type: Benchmark 62, 1206m
Map & tempo: Genuine Pace, Fast Freddie shaping the speed
Punty read:
This is the race where you stop thinking and just back the horse that looks built for the job. Wetumpka is the clear speed-and-position match, and when the tempo is genuine at 1200m, the best horses aren't always the ones that win at $2.20 in your head. They're the ones that get a run and can still maintain their rhythm through the middle.
Fast Freddie is the danger if he gets to control it. Rhyme Dust is there because he's got the ability to tag on at the finish if the leaders start spending too early. Duel Venture and Ania are the "if chaos happens, they're involved" types.
Top 3 + Roughie ($13.00 pool)
★ PUNTY'S PICK 1. Wetumpka (No.2) — $3.20 / $1.50 🏆 WINNER
Bet $13.00 Win — ✓ Won, net +$28.60
Prob 37.3% | Place: 69.0% | Value: 1.75x

Bet Tracked
Prob 12.6% | Place: 56.2% | Value: 0.36x
Why He's got the early speed, but his win-value isn't there today, still a place type if the top two get dragged.
Roughie: Duel Venture (No.3) — $11.00 / $2.75 🏆 UNPLACED
Bet Tracked
Prob 8.0% | Place: 29.0% | Value: 1.12x
Why If he gets a clean run through the middle and the pace collapses, he can sneak into the finish.
Race type: Benchmark 62, 1006m
Map & tempo: Moderate Pace, sprint pressure
Punty read:
1006m is a fast little blender where positions matter and panic kills. Asmita is the key horse in my eyes, because the profile screams "can be in the right spot and keep fighting." Bold Bordeaux and Watten Assett are the other key cogs. Divine Empress is a massive price, she's more for value chaos, but only if you get a proper run.
Bold Print can be dangerous if he gets to the front end early, Exfortythree is a hard-hitter type from midfield, but I'd rather lean into the ones with the clearest sprint read.
Top 3 + Roughie ($15.00 pool)
1. Asmita (No.9) — $4.00 / $1.95 🏆 3RD
Bet $15.00 Win — ✗ Lost, net -$15.00
Prob 25.6% | Place: 56.2% | Value: 1.22x
Why This is the sprint where she can press into the right lanes and not get swallowed by the speed scrum.
2. Bold Bordeaux (No.2) — $4.50 / $1.72 🏆 WINNER
Bet Tracked
Prob 20.2% | Place: 47.0% | Value: 1.01x
Why Only two places paid in a field this size, and skinny place divvies make savers a mug's game — this is a win-only race. Tracked, not staked.
3. Watten Assett (No.7) — $6.00 / $2.10 🏆 4TH
Bet Tracked
Prob 17.7% | Place: 40.3% | Value: 1.07x
Why If he's positioned early and can carry speed, he's right there for the quinella-style finish.
Roughie: Divine Empress (No.8) — $18.00 / $4.80 🏆 UNPLACED
Bet Tracked
Prob 3.2% | Place: 12.2% | Value: 0.69x
Why Only live if things go weird, and she gets into open grass late.
Race type: Benchmark 62, 1732m
Map & tempo: Slow Pace, staying power matters
Punty read:
Longer trip, slow tempo, so it's about who can bide time, sit in the right pocket, then let down when everyone else has used their legs early. Left Hook is the main market piece and she fits the profile to run top three in these grinding conditions. Korobeiniki is the one for value and place leverage, because slow races let the better finishing types steal it.
Fiery Deal can still run, Corona Lad is the "might get out of trouble" runner, and Preservator is the wildcard for a price if the gaps show.
Top 3 + Roughie ($10.50 pool)
1. Left Hook (No.9) — $3.40 / $1.60 🏆 UNPLACED
Bet $10.50 Win — ✗ Lost, net -$10.50
Prob 22.6% | Place: 69.0% | Value: 0.89x
Why She suits the slow tempo, and when the race turns into a long finish, she's built to stick to her task.
2. Korobeiniki (No.5) — $5.50 / $2.05 🏆 WINNER
Bet Tracked
Prob 17.6% | Place: 47.0% | Value: 1.23x

Bet Tracked
Prob 10.6% | Place: 29.0% | Value: 1.01x

Roughie: Preservator (No.10) — $10.00 / $3.00 🏆 UNPLACED
Bet Tracked
Prob 10.2% | Place: 36.4% | Value: 1.30x
Why He's the one who can turn a "midfield effort" into a headline finish if he gets timing and a clean outlet.
Race type: Benchmark 62, 1415m
Map & tempo: Genuine Pace, Finance Shogun setting it up
Punty read:
This one should feature a pace battle where the leaders might get away with murder. Finance Shogun has the front-running profile and the map fit, but Crocodile is the danger because he looks like he can track it and then run through the finish like he means it. Let It Beel is there for the exacta and trifecta chaos if timing clicks. Valedictorian and Miss Castelvecchio are place-type dangers, but the win story starts with Crocodile and Finance Shogun.
Top 3 + Roughie ($18.00 pool)
1. Crocodile (No.6) — $2.90 / $1.45 🏆 3RD
Bet $13.00 Win — ✗ Lost, net -$13.00
Prob 30.9% | Place: 69.0% | Value: 1.04x
Why He has the pace to sit in the right spot and the finishing engine to make it tough for the leader at the line.
2. Finance Shogun (No.4) — $9.00 / $2.80 🏆 UNPLACED
Bet $5.00 Place — ✗ Lost, net -$5.00
Prob 19.7% | Place: 57.8% | Value: 1.40x
Why Even if he's vulnerable late, his position in the race and the way he carries speed makes him a big place threat.
3. Let It Beel (No.3) — $7.00 / $2.50 🏆 2ND
Bet Tracked
Prob 10.7% | Place: 47.0% | Value: 0.88x

Punty's Early Mail
Rightio Loose Units, Sale on a Good 4 with the rail out 4m and a sky that keeps doing wet-weather teases. This is the sort of track where the leaders get first dibs, but if you're a sneaky type and you're finding the right lane at the right time, the finishing burst can still pay your mortgage. Wind's up too, so expect some horses to race like they've swallowed a sail.
First up, the early races look like they're setting up for "map winners" rather than lottery numbers. Then in the middle, I'm leaning into a couple of class/fitness angles where the market's either doing the job, or doing a bit too much of the job. And by Race 5, it's straight-up business, because there's a standout horse who looks like he's built to handle this kind of tempo and kick.
Alright, let's get into it race-by-race, with the spine locked, the lanes pre-planned, and the roughies picked like a degenerate, not like a monk.
MEET SNAPSHOT
Track: Good 4, 8 race card
Rail: Out 4m Entire Circuit
Official going: Good 4 (expected to play Speed vs Stamina, with a lane bias toward saving ground early)
Weather: Late shower or two, windy, 20°C, gusts kicking, feels like 13.3°C (watch for gusts affecting straight line finishes and any quick rain turning grip into a game of survival)
Early lane guess: Midfield to leaders, then start being a hero wide only if the gaps open late.
Tempo profile: Genuine early tempo in the maidens, then it loosens up to more grinding sections in the sprints and bets get more about position and timing.
Jockeys to follow:
Jake Noonan: the sort who can land on a horse's rhythm and not panic early, especially with a clean trip.
Jye McNeil: aggressive steering when the map is there, he'll have you on the right bit of track.
Joe Bowditch: smooth operators who squeeze value out of midfield runs, expect them to be finishing.
Stables to respect:
Jason Warren (3 runners): keeps turning up in maiden plates with horses that can just find something when the penny drops.
R D Griffiths (3 runners): often has the "learn and then improve" type, gear changes fit the pattern today.
P G Moody & Katherine Coleman (2 runners): when they lift a horse into a race, it tends to hold together late.
Punty's take:
Race 1 is a genuine pace set-up, and the winner profile in this maiden looks like it'll be someone who's either on the early speed or able to stalk without losing the lane. Lollie's Galore is the market anchor for a reason, but this is also where a first-timer with sensible gear can sneak a placing, then you swear at your own choices. I'm not here to cry into my beer though.
Race 4 is where I'm loving the structure. Shorter trip, slower pace, and the favourite type with the right barrier and gear can absolutely take control before everyone else realises the party's started. Race 5 is a standout scenario too. Wetumpka is the kind of horse that makes the rest of the field look like they're just attending the same show.
Race 8 closes the card with a pace battle that should suit one of the front-running types more than the sit-and-sprint types. Crocodile looks like the horse that can carry speed through into the finish, and Finance Shogun is the one who can snag a price on the right run at the right time.
What it means for you:
My aggression is simple. You back the horses that map to do the job, and you don't overthink the straight. So you've got Lollie's Galore and Wetumpka as the "put it in your pocket" vibes. Then you've got Zendarina as the kind of mare-ish profile in a maiden that can still win even when the race shape gets a bit ugly.
Where I'm being slightly spicy is with the roughie angles. Roughies today aren't random, they're either drifting horses being waited on, or value types that can hit the finish harder if the pace collapses or if the field runs slightly messier than expected.
If you're doing a multi, do it off the three most likely winners, then let the dividends be the reward. If you're doing lanes, the quaddies are built to survive one near-miss leg. If one leg goes sideways, you'll still have something alive to swear over.
