The Race
The race is named after Empire Rose, the mare who won the 1988 LKS Mackinnon Stakes and Melbourne Cup double.
It became a Group 1 race in 2004, after spells as a Listed race (1988-1994), Group 3 (1995-1996) and Group 2 (1997-2003).
It ran as the Myer Classic from 2005 to 2017 and has been the Empire Rose Stakes since 2018.
Pride Of Jenni won the race in 2023 and 2025, both times ridden by Declan Bates for Ciaron Maher's stable.
Pride Of Jenni won in 2023 from barrier 16 in a field of 16.
Pride Of Jenni's 1:34.42 in 2025 was the fastest time among the ten winners from 2016 to 2025.
Shout The Bar was the longest-priced winner of the ten runnings from 2016 to 2025, at 30/1 in 2020.

Patterns, Rated
- Interesting OLBG counts 5 of the last 10 winners as having run at Caulfield last start, two of them in the Toorak Handicap (2018, 2023) (n=10, 5 of 10)
- Interesting Only 2 of the last 10 winners came off a win at their previous start (n=10, 2 of 10)
- Pub stat 3 of the last 10 winners started favourite (2017, 2019, 2024), and 4 started at double-figure odds (n=10, 3 of 10)
- Pub stat Chris Waller (2018, 2024), Ciaron Maher's stable (2023, 2025), Damien Oliver (2020, 2021), James McDonald (2018, 2024), Declan Bates (2023, 2025) and Dean Yendall (2016, 2017) each won it twice in the last 10 (n=10, 2 of 10)
- Interesting Three-year-olds won in 2016 and 2017, carrying 7-10 and 7-12 (n=10, 2 of 10)
Strong signal: enough runnings and a racing reason behind it. Interesting: worth knowing, not worth betting on alone. Pub stat: fun at the bar, useless at the window.
