1600m · Maiden · 14:30
✗ MISS -$13 Final

Race type: Maiden, 1600m
Map & tempo: Slow pace, map gives ON-PACE and midfield a real shot to grab a position early.
Punty read: This is one of those maidens where the pace being slow is basically an invite to race smarter. Snobbery (No.5) sits in the midfield and should get the right run when the leaders stretch out without flying. The blinkers and first-time tongue tie plus the strong recent form profile screams "they want him to find." Elrond (No.1) can't be written off either, but his last run reads like the sort of trip where they didn't get clean air. If you're tossing a coin, toss it at the right head, Snobbery is the one to land it.

Top 3 + Roughie ($12.91 pool)

★ PUNTY'S PICK 1. Snobbery (No.5) — $2.00 / $1.32 🏆 4TH
Bet $12.91 Win — ✗ Lost, net -$12.91
Prob 47.9% | Place: 52.4% | Value: 1.55x
Why Slow tempo gives him time to travel, then the blinkers and recent sectionals make him the one you want in front at the turn.

2. The Punk Rocker (No.6) — $3.80 / $1.95 🏆 WINNER
Bet Tracked
Prob 15.5% | Place: 31.1% | Value: 0.55x
Why Only two places paid in a field this size, and skinny place divvies make savers a mug's game — this is a win-only race. Tracked, not staked.

3. Elrond (No.1) — $3.90 / $1.95 🏆 2ND
Bet Tracked
Prob 12.5% | Place: 24.4% | Value: 0.28x
Why Form says "might improve," excuses say "maybe," but he's the third leg and the tempo doesn't fully guarantee him clean room.

Roughie: Majestic Glow (No.8) — $11.00 / $3.80 🏆 UNPLACED
Bet Tracked
Prob 9.5% | Place: 23.5% | Value: 1.62x
Why The value is real, but with this exact tempo, you need a specific run path and the stakemates are loaded on Snobbery instead.

✗ MISS Final

Race type: Maiden, 1050m
Map & tempo: Genuine pace, Scooped looks like the leader early while the fast starters press in.
Punty read: This is a proper sprint where bad beginnings get punished. Lethal Harry (No.6) is short because the horse shape is obvious, jump well, race where it matters, and don't fade late. Via Niccolina (No.7) is the danger if she can tuck in and get an uninterrupted run, while Snobz (No.5) gives you the place option headache if the leaders go sideways. Bon's Secret and the lottery runners are there, but the main storyline is No.6 versus the rest of the keyboard.

Top 3 + Roughie ($10.00 pool)

★ PUNTY'S PICK 1. Lethal Harry (No.6) — $1.95 / $1.10 SCR
Bet $10.00 Win — ✗ Lost, net +$0.00
Prob 51.2% | Place: 70.0% | Value: 1.27x
Why The short price is justified, sprint map favours him, and he's the one that can control the race rhythm.

2. Via Niccolina (No.7) — $9.00 / $2.40 🏆 3RD
Bet Tracked
Prob 12.5% | Place: 38.8% | Value: 0.90x
Why A real chance — but at $2.40 the place the numbers don't give me enough edge to insure with. Watching, not betting.

3. Snobz (No.5) — $9.20 / $2.00 🏆 6TH
Bet Tracked
Prob 11.1% | Place: 46.1% | Value: 1.38x
Why Place is tempting, but the race shape looks like it'll be fought at the front two, not around the edges.

Roughie: Farnace (No.8) — $5.50 / $1.72 🏆 2ND
Bet Tracked
Prob 8.1% | Place: 38.8% | Value: 0.70x
Why If the leaders bunch up, this one can slide into the first three without needing to win the whole thing.

✗ MISS -$13 Final

Race type: Maiden, 1300m
Map & tempo: Slow pace, ON-PACE and MIDFIELD runners get to keep their rhythm.
Punty read: Pocket Pyro (No.12) is the "just needs to hit the straight clean" type. When the pace is slow, sharp horses get time to build momentum without getting bullied. Upsanddowns (No.8) is a live threat if he can sit in the right spot and then switch on late, while Dashing Red Star (No.1) is the sort of each-way swing that can improve sharply with a cleaner run. This looks like a race where the winner is just better placed, not necessarily some huge miracle.

Top 3 + Roughie ($13.00 pool)

★ PUNTY'S PICK 1. Pocket Pyro (No.12) — $1.75 / $1.14 🏆 2ND
Bet $13.00 Win — ✗ Lost, net -$13.00
Prob 57.2% | Place: 70.0% | Value: 1.74x
Why Short price for a reason, map suits, and he should get the perfect chance to run his race late.

2. Upsanddowns (No.8) — $5.00 / $1.80 🏆 10TH
Bet Tracked
Prob 8.9% | Place: 38.9% | Value: 0.27x
Why A real chance — but at $1.80 the place the numbers don't give me enough edge to insure with. Watching, not betting.

3. Dashing Red Star (No.1) — $6.50 / $2.20 🏆 7TH
Bet Tracked
Prob 8.1% | Place: 45.1% | Value: 0.56x
Why He's threatening, but the risk is getting beaten by the better map story, No.12 to No.10 runlines.

Roughie: Woottonbelieveit (No.10) — $12.50 / $2.60 🏆 4TH
Bet Tracked
Prob 7.7% | Place: 38.9% | Value: 1.26x
Why Roughie path is there, but I'd rather not split the cash when the top line looks so clean.

✓ WON +$9 Final

Race type: Handicap, 1600m
Map & tempo: Slow pace means you're hunting position through the middle, not a sprint.
Punty read: Synthesise (No.1) is the name on everyone's ticket for a reason, he's been finding the right sort of runs and the jockey combo reads like "go in, get a sit, let him work." Win To Retire (No.9) is the one you've got to watch, because he's been building runs and gets every chance with the on-pace map. No Mans Land (No.4) and Belle From Hell (No.8) are the place dangers if the front two get glued. But in a slow handicap, the first 600 metres decides whether you're home or you're chasing.

Top 3 + Roughie ($11.50 pool)

★ PUNTY'S PICK 1. Synthesise (No.1) — $1.80 / $1.09 🏆 WINNER
Bet $11.50 Win — ✓ Won, net +$9.20
Prob 42.2% | Place: 70.0% | Value: 0.93x
Why Slow tempo suits his midfield trip and he has the class to keep grinding through.

2. Win To Retire (No.9) — $4.50 / $1.60 🏆 3RD
Bet Tracked
Prob 30.3% | Place: 70.0% | Value: 1.61x
Why A real chance — but at $1.60 the place the numbers don't give me enough edge to insure with. Watching, not betting.

3. No Mans Land (No.4) — $5.50 / $1.65 🏆 UNPLACED
Bet Tracked
Prob 10.4% | Place: 46.1% | Value: 0.67x
Why He can run into the top three if the leaders soften, but the tote says he's not the main narrative.

Roughie: Belle From Hell (No.8) — $14.00 / $2.55 🏆 2ND
Bet Tracked
Prob 7.3% | Place: 38.8% | Value: 1.24x
Why If they choke in front, she can sneak into the minor money, but it's too wide for me today.

✗ MISS -$10 Final

Race type: Handicap, 1200m
Map & tempo: Moderate pace, with a few likely to press and a few who want a run mid to late.
Punty read: De Luca (No.10) is the main story on the page, and the way the handicap lays out it suits a horse that can get the right tempo without getting boxed. All Shot (No.2) and Magic Princess (No.12) are the obvious back-ups, and Copper Bullet (No.5) has enough profile to sneak a place if things go sideways. Still, this is one of those races where the best move is to commit to the cleaner runner and accept the rest as "prove it to me."

Top 3 + Roughie ($10.50 pool)

1. De Luca (No.10) — $3.70 / $1.65 🏆 4TH
Bet $10.50 Win — ✗ Lost, net -$10.50
Prob 17.0% | Place: 52.4% | Value: 0.79x
Why He's in the right part of the race for this distance, and the market doesn't look like random fluff.

2. All Shot (No.2) — $6.00 / $2.15 🏆 2ND
Bet Tracked
Prob 15.6% | Place: 54.5% | Value: 1.16x
Why A real chance — but at $2.15 the place the numbers don't give me enough edge to insure with. Watching, not betting.

3. Magic Princess (No.12) — $7.50 / $2.50 🏆 6TH
Bet Tracked
Prob 14.0% | Place: 46.1% | Value: 1.29x
Why She can run her race, but the price has already pulled her closer than I like in a handicap lottery.

Roughie: Outpost (No.6) — $11.00 / $3.10 🏆 5TH
Bet Tracked
Prob 6.5% | Place: 32.7% | Value: 0.86x
Why Needs a bit of everything to line up, and I'm saving the chaos for the quaddie lanes.

✓ WON +$40 Final

Race type: Handicap, 1600m
Map & tempo: Genuine pace, leaders matter, and the field will split if they go hard early.
Punty read: Victory Lane (No.3) has the look of a horse that can take control of the run through the middle parts and not get found out late. Or Am I (No.8) is the one that can absolutely make you sweat, because he's sitting in that pocket where a straight run turns into a winning run. Royal Fox (No.2) is there and he can bounce into it, but the value angle is with the forward-run plan. Miss Kasei (No.10) is the supporting act that can steal a cheque if the pace collapses.

Top 3 + Roughie ($13.00 pool)

1. Victory Lane (No.3) — $6.00 / $2.15 🏆 WINNER
Bet $13.00 Each Way ($6.50W + $6.50P) — ✓ Won, net +$39.98
Prob 18.4% | Place: 46.1% | Value: 1.36x
Why This is the kind of race where being handy is gold, and the finish should land his way.

2. Royal Fox (No.2) — $3.60 / $1.62 🏆 UNPLACED
Bet Tracked
Prob 16.7% | Place: 53.9% | Value: 0.76x
Why The top pick's each-way already covers the place angle here — doubling up is paying twice for the same insurance. Tracked instead.

3. Miss Kasei (No.10) — $6.40 / $2.25 🏆 3RD
Bet Tracked
Prob 11.5% | Place: 46.1% | Value: 0.90x
Why The price says she's in it, but Victory Lane is the better shape for the lane today.

Roughie: Or Am I (No.8) — $14.00 / $3.90 SCR
Bet Tracked
Prob 10.4% | Place: 38.8% | Value: 1.28x

✗ MISS -$10 Final

Race type: Benchmark 56, 1050m
Map & tempo: Hot pace, leaders and pressing tactics matter, mistakes early get paid for.
Punty read: Extra Fling (No.3) is your obvious speed machine and in a 1050 with a hot tempo, that matters. Musical Sunset (No.10) is the one I'm watching for the value finish, because a horse with an ON-PACE map can still hit the line strong if the leaders set it up properly. Reoffer (No.14) is next best for the place squeeze if the race turns into a scramble. Sioux Warrior (No.2) is brave from the gate but needs everything to go right, and if the pace is wild, midpack runners can get filtered out.

Top 3 + Roughie ($10.50 pool)

1. Extra Fling (No.3) — $1.95 / $1.20 🏆 3RD
Bet $10.50 Win — ✗ Lost, net -$10.50
Prob 30.6% | Place: 70.0% | Value: 0.77x
Why This is the kind of track and trip where the leader gets every chance, and the horse is set up to keep rolling.

2. Musical Sunset (No.10) — $6.50 / $2.25 🏆 12TH
Bet Tracked
Prob 19.6% | Place: 46.1% | Value: 1.62x

Punty's Early Mail

Rightio Loose Units, Balaklava today is that classic Good 4, rail is doing a small little shove, and the racing's gonna reward anyone brave enough to stay on the speed and double down when the market gets cute.

First up, track vibe: no rain in the last day, just cool air and a bit of chop in the wind. Translation for punting degenerates, you want horses that can handle themselves early, because when the leaders set up a decent rhythm, it gets hard to peel them off at the business end.

Second, the spine: the day's pretty clear, Race 1 and Race 3 are where I'm planting my flag, Race 2 is the "take the short price and don't overthink it" job, then you just have to survive the handicaps when the field spreads out like a SA road trip playlist. We ride anyway.

MEET SNAPSHOT

Track: Good 4, 1050-1600m card
Rail: +3m 950m to 450m, True Remainder.
Official going: Good 4 (expected to play to a speed-leaning profile)
Weather: Partly cloudy, 14°C, gusts up, feels like 9.9°C (watch for gusty moments early, can make them hop a bit)
Early lane guess: inside to midfield gets plenty of chances, but wide runners can still run on if they're not trapped.
Tempo profile: mostly slow to moderate early, then you've got a couple of races where the pace gets hot and stays hot.
Jockeys to follow:
Harry Grace: keeps popping up in the winners' circle in these midweek cards, and he's riding with purpose today
Ms Sophie Potter: maps well into a few races where the plan can stay simple
Wesley Cave: if there's a horse that looks like it can park and go, he's the bloke you want on
Stables to respect:
Kate Halliday (5 runners): she's got runners stepping out in the right places, and the maidens look targeted
T L Day (5 runners): always seems to have something live late, especially when the pace scenario suits
Stephen Theodore (3 runners): don't ignore his money, if they show up short, they're usually there to do work

Punty's take: This card is a bit like the first 20 minutes of a movie where you think you know the plot, then a random character starts stealing the scenes. Race 1 looks like it's all about Snobbery cutting through with that blinkers upgrade, and the pace being slow means midfield trips can turn into ground-gain fantasies. If you're going to bet, you bet with your eyes, not your anxiety.

Race 2 is your "clean job." Lethal Harry has the short price for a reason, and the sprint shape favours a horse that can hit the ground running and keep doing the same thing for the last 100m. Then Race 3 is the one where the winner looks pretty obvious, Pocket Pyro looks ready to pounce, and Upsanddowns is the danger if the race turns into a muddle.

Handicaps after that, though, are where legends get sifted. You get enough pace to mess up the run, enough class to punish the wrong positions, and enough market drama to keep you humble. That's why the Big 3 is the anchor, and the lanes are built to survive chaos when it shows up.

What it means for you: My approach today is simple. Be aggressive in the races where the speed map and market support line up, then protect yourself in the chaos legs with exotics that cover the likely runlines.

Race 1, I'm backing Snobbery to win or at minimum be right there when the gaps open. Race 3, Pocket Pyro is the "press the button" play, because the sprint to the finish setup suits a horse that can finish off properly. Race 2, Lethal Harry is the straight-through cashflow, don't let it turn into a philosophical debate.

Then for the Quaddie, you're gonna see why I've got some wider legs. In the back half of the card, the handicap fields are wide, and even if your horse is good, getting the right trip can be a lottery unless you build the ticket with some insurance.
