✓ WON +$26 Final

Race type: Maiden, 1200m
Map & tempo: Genuine Pace, leader Ammunition, Affari on the speed, Evanta stuck back
Punty read:
This is a proper "who wants it more early" kid's plate. Affari has blinkers on first time and is showing as on-pace with a sweet map, so he's likely to get first dibs at the rails through the run. The track is soft and the wind is savage in the straight, so the horse that can keep the engine going from the front is the one you want holding the story.

Nevada Falls is the one I'm willing to splash at as the roughie. The market is tightening from $19 to $12 and that's a real hint. On a Soft 7, these types often chew up ground late if the front runners go a touch too hard, and this race has that genuine tempo look about it.

Also keep an eye on Yotei. Blinkers on first time and she's drawn handy enough to take a position, if she gets a clear crack in the run home she can pop into the placings even if she doesn't win it.

Top 3 + Roughie ($15.00 pool)

★ PUNTY'S PICK 1. Affari (No.8) — $2.74 / $1.32 🏆 WINNER
Bet $15.00 Win — ✓ Won, net +$26.10
Prob 51.5% | Place: 70.0% | Value: 1.64x
Why On-pace map, blinkers first time, and the wet + headwind combo rewards a horse that can keep going without needing a late miracle.

2. Rain Delay (No.5) — $3.90 / $1.65 🏆 2ND
Bet Tracked
Prob 17.2% | Place: 69.2% | Value: 0.67x
Why A real chance — but at $1.65 the place the numbers don't give me enough edge to insure with. Watching, not betting.

Bet Tracked
Prob 7.6% | Place: 38.9% | Value: 0.38x

Bet Tracked
Prob 7.3% | Place: 38.8% | Value: 1.56x

✓ WON +$2 Final

Race type: Maiden, 1400m
Map & tempo: Moderate pace, on-pacers have the advantage, chaos in midfield positions
Punty read:
This is a handbrake race that turns into a tactical contest, so don't just chase the first favourite you see. Snitzel's Girl looks like the best way to play the speed without overcommitting. She's drawn in a midfield-ish spot but her prep says she'll find her lane and her sectionals profile points to a run through the line.

Italian Spirit is interesting but the market isn't screaming value. Sapphire Legend is similar, there's a case for them to place, but I want the one that looks like she can actually pick them up at the finish.

Roughie Shahaameh is the "if they're dropping off late" type, and on a Soft 7 that can be a legit scenario.

Top 3 + Roughie ($13.00 pool)

1. Snitzel's Girl (No.14) — $6.40 / $2.25 🏆 2ND
Bet $13.00 Each Way ($6.50W + $6.50P) — ✓ Won, net +$1.62
Prob 20.0% | Place: 50.6% | Value: 1.56x
Why The form profile and the way she's likely to get into the race make her the best each-way bet in a messy handicap.

2. Italian Spirit (No.1) — $4.20 / $1.72 🏆 WINNER
Bet Tracked
Prob 17.5% | Place: 54.1% | Value: 0.76x
Why The top pick's each-way already covers the place angle here — doubling up is paying twice for the same insurance. Tracked instead.

3. Sapphire Legend (No.7) — $5.20 / $2.00 🏆 10TH
Bet Tracked
Prob 16.4% | Place: 46.1% | Value: 0.84x

Bet Tracked
Prob 8.1% | Place: 32.7% | Value: 0.72x

✗ MISS -$15 Final

Race type: Maiden, 1100m
Map & tempo: Slow pace, sprinting chaos, midfield gets brave
Punty read:
This one is a sprint where the pace being slow is both a gift and a curse. Gifts for those who can sit close without being boxed, curses for anyone who starts too far back on Soft 7 with a wind that can make the straight feel longer.

Born To Fly is the pick because he's got the form and the gear freshen-up makes sense at this short trip. Ballet D'light looks like she can hit the line too, which is why she's right there for place leverage, and Medocaine has the value profile if the race turns into a straight contest.

I'm not ignoring Testamapatience, but this is the kind of race where the early momentum is everything and the stable with the sharper recent form usually lands the knockout punch.

Top 3 + Roughie ($15.00 pool)

Bet $15.00 Win — ✗ Lost, net -$15.00
Prob 30.4% | Place: 55.6% | Value: 1.10x

Bet Tracked
Prob 18.7% | Place: 46.1% | Value: 1.02x

3. Medocaine (No.12) — $6.40 / $2.25 🏆 2ND
Bet Tracked
Prob 17.6% | Place: 29.3% | Value: 1.28x

Race type: Benchmark 72, 1100m
Map & tempo: Genuine pace, plenty of speed, first-finish matters
Punty read:
Two-year-olds at 1100m on a Soft 7 are always a bit feral, but this one shapes like a speed contest that can still reward class. Agatha is the centre of the universe here, barrier, gear, and map all support her having a crack at the line.

Hellenic Belle has the type of profile that can sit close, then pounce late if the leaders overdo it. Screen Icon is the sort that can round out a place if the race fractures, but I'd rather have the two that look more likely to be in the finish.

Maybe Moet is on watch. She's had some issues, but when a 2yo has the blink at the right moment, it can get messy.

Race type: Benchmark 72, 2400m
Map & tempo: Slow pace, but distance turns it into a pressure test
Punty read:
2400m on a Soft 7 is staying football. The pace doesn't have to be fast, it just has to be consistent enough for the real stayer to keep rolling. Golden Century looks the one that can do it, he's got the class engine and he's not dependent on finding a magic gap.

Grafton Street is the main rival in the blueprint, and he can absolutely run into the finish if the leaders don't manage themselves. Nkosi is a good depth play but I'm keeping him as a pass for win today.

If you want a watch-and-hope type, Sonic Bender can creep into the placings when the race compresses, but this is Golden Century's kind of day more than a chaos day.

Punty read:
This is the sort of 1500 where you either sit in the right spot and keep accelerating, or you get stuck doing cardio with no payoff. Puntin is the one I trust to be there, on-pace map plus the way the race should unfold with Soft 7 underfoot.

Nobler is the big danger for second and third if he gets a smooth run. Perisher is a place chance type, and the others need something to go their way, like the front bunch going overly hard and getting carved up.

China Sea is intriguing on name value, but at the price and with his profile he feels like one of those "could, if" runners.

Punty read:
This is the kind of 1200 where you want to be watching the leader, not the field picture. Metallic Cat maps up in front, and the wet track profile suits his pressure running style. If he gets even a little clear air, the wind will make it hard for anyone to reel him in late.

I Am Adonis is the value story, he's got the kind of profile that can sit close and hit hard when the leaders start to stick in the mud. Chilli Margs is a place chance, but the race looks like it'll belong to the top two for the money.

Scillato is your roughie if the front two get chinned and someone has a big finish out wide.

This is another race where the on-pace horses have the map advantage. Pulsator is the leader type and gets the right conditions, and he's drawn to take his spot without needing a miracle. When the wind is ripping up the straight, I like horses that can keep carrying speed rather than ones that must find one last gear.

Duke Of Arrakis looks like the main threat, and Azarax is the value play that could easily jump up for a place and then, if the race goes the right way, run into it.

Nova Centauri is the rough chance, Chappy can be there for a slice, but the top of the market is where I'm parking the cash.

Punty's Early Mail

Rightio Loose Units, Rosehill Soft 7 with a headwind that'll bully the late finishers, should be a proper "get on the speed" kind of day, with a few decent prices left in the fridge if you know where to look.

You can feel it already, the rail is out at 4m entire, the track is soft enough to be sloshy in the lanes, and the wind is basically trying to veto any horse that thinks it can drift to the line like a Sunday arvo cruise. On-pace runners get their favoured script, wide floaters need a prayer and a gap.

My spine today is simple, you back the three standouts that keep showing up where it matters, then you let the chaos lanes breathe in the quaddie and Big 6. Race 1 is basically "the gate-to-line test", Race 5 is the staying-strength grind, and Race 7 looks like the kind of dash where the leader gets first dibs at the buffet table.

Track read in plain English: Soft 7 plus strong straight headwind usually means the front runners carry more advantage, and closers get punished when they need one more kick that never comes. So you'll see me leaning into horses that can either hold a position or win the race with momentum, not just vibes and hope.

~MEET SNAPSHOT~
Track: Rosehill, Sprint to staying 1100-2400m card
Rail: 4m Entire
Official going: Soft 7 (expected to play Speed vs Stamina)
Weather: Partly cloudy, 16°C, wind strong SSW, watch for gusty headwind in the straight
Early lane guess: Park the speed, lanes with less travel on the day
Tempo profile: Genuine to moderate early tempo, wind pushes you to be forward
Jockeys to follow:
James Mc Donald: Big horsepower across the day, knows how to work into races
Tommy Berry: Loves a set-up with timing, especially when the track is sticky
Kerrin Mc Evoy: Backing himself in markets, usually gives them every chance
Stables to respect:
C J Waller (17 runners): Heavy presence early to late, and the horses look ready to roll
Bjorn Baker (5 runners): Gets them spot on for these wet-ish assignments
Michael Freedman (4 runners): Consistent, and when they bring gear they usually mean business

Punty's take:

Rosehill on a Soft 7 with a headwind is a brutal combo for "I'll have a run late" horses. The straight becomes a test of whether your horse can keep lengthening while the air is punching back. That means the map is king today, and I'm hunting the runners that either get the run in the right spot or can control it from the front.

Race 1 sets the tone. Affari is the market favourite and it makes sense, blinkers on plus that on-pace map, it's built for the genuine tempo and the soft surface. But I'm also looking at Nevada Falls as the rougher threat, because the betting is moving and the horse profile screams "worth the second look" if the race opens up.

Then Race 5, staying at 2400m when the track is soft, this turns into a grinder where Golden Century looks like the classier engine that can keep rolling while everyone else is trying to find footing. After that, Race 7 is your speed-and-confidence checkpoint, Metallic Cat and I Am Adonis are the two main characters and they should both have enough left for the last 200m.

What it means for you:

If you're playing conservative, your bread-and-butter is backing those forward runners in the win market where it's prepped right, especially when the barrier and map line up. Today is not a day to overthink "perfect finishing burst" unless the horse looks like it can sustain through the wind.

If you're playing value, you hunt for the horses the market is trying to price into the correct lane, like Nevada Falls in Race 1 and Golden Century in Race 5. And if you want fun, the Early Quaddie lanes are where you can catch a big payout without needing every long shot to win. It's tight where it counts, wide where it has to be.

Alright, let's get down to business, race-by-race.
