Punty's Punts
Race type: Maiden Plate, 1200m
Map & tempo: Moderate pace, Cairo Queen and Coronation Day are the movers, while the inside leaders can dictate
Punty read: Coronation Day (No.8) looks like the one who can cross and keep breathing easily. Bella Russian (No.6) is drawn inside and races on the pace, so she's got the perfect rail-flirt setup. Cairo Queen (No.7) is right in the pocket too, and if the leaders keep enough in the tank, she's the sort that can whack them late. Circus Maximus (No.1) has excuses and can bounce, but I'm backing the map-facing runners first.
Top 3 + Roughie ($22.00 pool)
1. Coronation Day (No.8) — $3.55 / $1.45 🏆 4TH

Bet $8.50 Place — ✓ Won, net +$10.20

3. Bella Russian (No.6) — $4.65 / $1.65 🏆 UNPLACED
Bet $3.00 Place — ✗ Lost, net -$3.00
Prob 17.4% | Place: 53.9% | Value: 1.27x
Why Inside draw, on-pace style, and those interference excuses mean she's due a cleaner run.
Roughie: Acres Destiny (No.5) — $18.75 / $3.50 🏆 UNPLACED
Bet Tracked
Prob 2.4% | Place: 12.2% | Value: 0.65x
Why If she wins, it's because the leaders implode and she sails past them late. That's a big ask, so I'm not forcing it.
Race type: C5, 1200m
Map & tempo: Moderate pace, Schmoozer and Boss Bandit push, Heavenly Legend and Inquisitive Legend are on-pace threats
Punty read: This is a race where you can get value by betting the right sort of leader, not the shortest price on the ticket. Heavenly Legend (No.2) looks primed to sit closer to the speed and not get bullied. Inquisitive Legend (No.6) also maps to be in the mix and is the one I like for a place plan because he's got the style to keep taking ground late.
Top 3 + Roughie ($15.00 pool)
1. Heavenly Legend (No.2) — $4.80 / $2.20 🏆 WINNER
Bet $15.00 Win — ✓ Won, net +$57.00
Prob 27.8% | Place: 56.2% | Value: 1.65x
Why Pace fits, and the market support says they're not just turning up for photos.
2. Little Cointreau (No.3) — $1.94 / $1.25 🏆 3RD
Bet Tracked
Prob 27.7% | Place: 56.2% | Value: 0.67x
Why Too much of a price trap here, and with limited place opportunities in a skinny field, you're better off backing other profiles.
3. Inquisitive Legend (No.6) — $5.00 / $2.25 🏆 4TH
Bet Tracked
Prob 20.9% | Place: 53.8% | Value: 1.29x
Why He can run a race, but the bet plan is built around the place leverage situation, so this one stays as cover.
Roughie: Pocket Picker (No.5) — $12.50 / $3.90 🏆 7TH
Bet Tracked
Prob 4.6% | Place: 12.2% | Value: 0.72x
Why Rough chance at best, the map needs everything to go his way and for the on-pace set-up to split.
Race type: Open Handicap, 1400m
Map & tempo: Moderate pace, Testator Silens and Moorabinda Mick have the map edge
Punty read: Testator Silens (No.1) is the one I keep coming back to. He's the sort that can get into a rhythm and control the flow, and at this trip the leaders who can keep balanced are the ones that keep winning. Hurtle (No.2) has been around the money enough to respect, and Invincible Red (No.5) is the danger if the front ranks kick up and he can sit right on top of the pace.
Top 3 + Roughie ($23.00 pool)
1. Testator Silens (No.1) — $3.10 / $1.30 🏆 UNPLACED
Bet $9.00 Win — ✗ Lost, net -$9.00
Prob 28.0% | Place: 67.4% | Value: 1.08x
Why Class and distance match, and he gets the kind of on-pace setup where he just grinds.
2. Hurtle (No.2) — $4.50 / $1.60 🏆 4TH
Bet $10.00 Place — ✗ Lost, net -$10.00
Prob 18.9% | Place: 69.0% | Value: 1.06x
Why He's got the pace presence, and even if he doesn't win, he looks set to be in the frame.
3. Invincible Red (No.5) — $4.60 / $1.60 🏆 3RD
Bet $4.00 Place — ✓ Won, net +$4.40
Prob 17.5% | Place: 62.8% | Value: 1.01x
Why On the pace, proven at Good, and the race shape gives him the right chance to run on.
Roughie: Deciduous (No.3) — $9.10 / $2.40 🏆 UNPLACED
Bet Tracked
Prob 7.3% | Place: 29.0% | Value: 0.83x
Why His gear changes and blinkers off story can lift him, but he needs luck in traffic to take the top three space.
Race type: C1 Handicap, 1050m
Map & tempo: Sprint pace with Flashmaster and Tell Us Toll types getting involved early
Punty read: Day To Remember (No.4) is a proper "get the job done" sprint profile. He's on-pace and drawn well enough to keep the momentum, and at 1050m momentum is everything. Viking Treasure (No.10) looks like the one who can sneak into the money with the right run, while Tell Us Toll (No.9) is the place saver if they split out wide. Solar Surfer (No.1) and Claw Machine (No.3) are around, but the biggest danger is the field shoving for position early like it's Boxing Day sales.
Top 3 + Roughie ($19.50 pool)
1. Day To Remember (No.4) — $5.85 / $2.15 🏆 3RD
Bet $12.50 Each Way ($6.25W + $6.25P) — ✓ Won, net +$0.94
Prob 20.5% | Place: 58.2% | Value: 1.52x
Why On-pace, strong place profile, and the price says the public hasn't fully twigged how well he fits.
2. Viking Treasure (No.10) — $6.50 / $2.20 🏆 WINNER
Bet Tracked
Prob 15.6% | Place: 56.7% | Value: 1.29x
Why If he places, it's great, but the betting structure already covers the right outcomes with the primary EW.
3. Tell Us Toll (No.9) — $5.60 / $2.05 🏆 2ND
Bet $7.00 Place — ✓ Won, net +$16.10
Prob 13.6% | Place: 56.7% | Value: 0.96x
Why Midfield to the right spot, and he's got enough run-on ability to grab a place when the race gets busy.
Roughie: Boulevard Boy (No.2) — $10.20 / $3.00 🏆 5TH
Bet Tracked
Prob 5.8% | Place: 21.7% | Value: 0.75x
Why He's live if he gets a cleaner trip, but he needs the "gap appears late" kind of run.
Race type: Bm65, 1050m
Map & tempo: Moderate pace, Daimyo and Transceltic and Tokyo Sins have the speed match
Punty read: This is where I want the horse with the best map and the cleanest chance to keep taking ground. Daimyo (No.1) maps like a straight shooter, and he's drawn up close enough to be involved. Transceltic (No.3) is right there as a threat if the pace steadies, and Tokyo Sins (No.5) is the other one that can keep running on without drama. Flying Rupert (No.8) is a roughie, if he lands in the right spot early, he can peel late like a door being kicked in.
Top 3 + Roughie ($19.00 pool)
1. Daimyo (No.1) — $4.15 / $1.72 🏆 UNPLACED
Bet $13.50 Each Way ($6.75W + $6.75P) — ✗ Lost, net -$13.50
Prob 23.9% | Place: 69.0% | Value: 1.37x
Why Perfect sprint engine, and the price looks fair for how well he fits this track and distance.
2. Tokyo Sins (No.5) — $5.50 / $2.05 🏆 WINNER
Bet Tracked
Prob 15.4% | Place: 56.2% | Value: 1.17x
Why Great contender, but we already went Each Way with the primary, so keep the structure efficient.
3. Transceltic (No.3) — $5.55 / $2.05 🏆 4TH
Bet $5.50 Place — ✗ Lost, net -$5.50
Prob 14.9% | Place: 40.3% | Value: 1.15x
Why On-pace profile, and he's the sort that can keep working late if the leaders bunch.
Roughie: Flying Rupert (No.8) — $9.90 / $2.90 🏆 UNPLACED
Bet Tracked
Prob 8.6% | Place: 36.3% | Value: 1.17x
Why Needs the run to land, then he must keep lifting late. Not impossible, just not the main bet.
Race type: Bm55, 1200m
Map & tempo: Genuine pace, Final Mission and Windorah have the pace advantage
Punty read: This one's about who can handle the genuine tempo without burning their body. Final Mission (No.7) is the clear shape on the map, and he should get every chance to keep pressing forward. Toy Story (No.5) and Blue Roman (No.12) are the ones who can fill the placings if the race gets messy, while Windorah (No.9) is interesting with the winkers first time, but I'm not giving him the main ticket.
Top 3 + Roughie ($10.50 pool)
1. Final Mission (No.7) — $4.10 / $1.65 🏆 3RD
Bet $10.50 Win — ✗ Lost, net -$10.50
Prob 29.6% | Place: 69.0% | Value: 1.56x
Why On-pace and built to go the distance in a tempo scenario like this. If he jumps, he's hard to stop.
2. Toy Story (No.5) — $6.50 / $2.45 🏆 WINNER
Bet Tracked
Prob 14.3% | Place: 47.0% | Value: 1.20x
Why He might place, but the bet value on place divs is too cooked by the time we get to this price.
3. Windorah (No.9) — $3.90 / $1.65 🏆 6TH
Bet Tracked
Prob 14.3% | Place: 48.3% | Value: 0.72x
Why He's been supported and he's got gear changes, but the model wants better place value than this.
Roughie: Blue Roman (No.12) — $9.05 / $2.80 🏆 9TH
Bet Tracked
Prob 10.3% | Place: 34.1% | Value: 1.20x
Why If he gets the right run and the race opens, he can ping late. But today we keep it tighter.
Race type: Bm50, 1400m
Map & tempo: Moderate pace, Eastcoast Hussler has the early tempo edge
Punty read: Eastcoast Hussler (No.4) is the one to beat if he jumps and gets into his rhythm. Desert Star (No.2) is drawn in a way that keeps him a live on-pace threat, and Monday Choice (No.8) can sit handy and pounce if the leaders tire. Shez Lethal (No.5) is the roughie for a reason, the market isn't sleeping on her, but I'm backing the speed shapes first.
Top 3 + Roughie ($20.50 pool)
1. Eastcoast Hussler (No.4) — $2.72 / $1.37 🏆 WINNER
Bet $7.00 Win — ✓ Won, net +$12.60
Prob 30.5% | Place: 69.0% | Value: 1.05x
Why He's got the best map style, and this is the kind of trip where being near the front is a cheat code.
2. Desert Star (No.2) — $5.65 / $1.95 🏆 UNPLACED
Bet $10.00 Place — ✗ Lost, net -$10.00
Prob 14.5% | Place: 56.2% | Value: 1.04x
Why On-pace, strong place profile, and if the front rank holds enough, he's right there to cash.
3. Monday Choice (No.8) — $4.90 / $1.82 🏆 UNPLACED
Bet $3.50 Place — ✗ Lost, net -$3.50
Prob 14.2% | Place: 56.5% | Value: 0.88x
Why Can settle behind the leaders then find the gap, and the price keeps him in play for place money.
Roughie: Shez Lethal (No.5) — $9.30 / $2.65 🏆 UNPLACED
Bet Tracked
Prob 9.0% | Place: 36.6% | Value: 1.06x
Why Roughie path is simple, keep her close enough early and she can swoop into the money when the leaders start stretching.
Sequence legs are the picks-engine's authoritative choice, rendered from the persisted ticket.
Smart: 4,10,9 / 1,5,3,8 / 7,9,5,12 / 4,8,2,3,5 (240 combos x $0.08 = $20.00) -- 8% flexi
The day's multi leans on three win legs across the card.
1 - Testator Silens (Race 3, No.1) — $3.10
2 - Final Mission (Race 6, No.7)✗ — $4.10
3 - Eastcoast Hussler (Race 7, No.4)✓ Won — $2.72
Meeting Stats
Selections
Punty's Early Mail
Rightio Loose Units, Blackall on Good, rail true the whole way, and the wind's doing enough to make even the stubbies feel jittery. This is one of those meetings where the smart speed gets first dibs, then you get a couple of sneaky closers landing late like they missed the memo, crossed the road anyway, and just absolutely cleaned up.
The way I'm seeing it, you want horses that either hold their spot early, or can actually travel without getting sandblasted by traffic. In these short races, barrier position is basically a steering wheel, not just a number. And with the rail true, those inside runs are gold, but you still need the horse to back it up, not just dream about it.
My Big 3 spine is built on three different shapes across the card, then I've stitched it together into a multi for a bit of win-winner energy. After that, we go race-by-race like we're working the bar, loud opinions, sharp reads, and no passengers.
MEET SNAPSHOT
Track: Blackall, 1050m-1400m card
Rail: True Entire
Official going: Good (expected to play Speed vs Stamina balance, favouring on-pace runners that can hold position)
Weather: Mostly sunny, 19°C, wind ESE with gusty live conditions, watch for fast-starts holding their ground
Early lane guess: Quaddie lanes are stacked around on-pace and a couple of midfield burners that can take a trail
Tempo profile: Moderate pace across most races. The "winners" are the ones that secure an economical run, then keep grinding when the field bunches up.
Jockeys to follow:
Mitch Goring(a1.5/57kg): repeatedly shows up on the right horses in on-pace lanes, and the market seems to trust him when it matters
Warwick Satherley: often positioned to benefit from a clean run early, and he keeps horses in it without panic riding
Raul Silvera Olivera: sits the horse in the right spot, then gives them a real chance to pick up late
Stables to respect:
David Rewald (5 runners): keeps producing competitive types when the pace scenario lines up, and they handle this level like it's their local
C T Austin (2 runners): strong presence in the maiden sprint flow, and when their runners are on-speed, they tend to keep taking ground
H C Forster (2 runners): the "hopeful" outsider types can still make an impact, especially when the race opens up late
Punty's take:
Race 1 is a classic "maiden, but the map matters" thing. Coronation Day (No.8) is your likely leader type, and Cairo Queen (No.7) and Bella Russian (No.6) look like they've got the engine to keep contact. The market has them in a tight little cluster for a reason. After that, the interesting bit is Acres Destiny (No.5) as the roughie, because if the speed holds on, she's got to be doing it from off them, and she absolutely could be the one that surprises your mates.
Race 4 and 5 are where the card starts to feel like a roulette wheel with a degree in maths. Day To Remember (No.4) is your anchor in Race 4, but don't be shocked if Viking Treasure (No.10) or Tell Us Toll (No.9) hang around for the money. Then in Race 5, Daimyo (No.1) looks like the main engine with the right sort of run. Tokyo Sins (No.5) and Transceltic (No.3) are the ones to keep honest, and if Flying Rupert (No.8) bounces into the right spot, he's your chaos gremlin.
Race 6 and 7, it's clearer. Final Mission (No.7) profiles like the one you want when the race isn't asking you to solve world hunger. Then Race 7 is Eastcoast Hussler's playground on paper, and if he jumps clean, he'll be hard to toss.
What it means for you:
My game plan is simple. In the earlier races, I'm sticking with the top three that can actually handle the pace map. That means you're betting horses that get the run they deserve, not ones chasing a miracle through traffic. If you're backing Place, you've got a safer floor because in short races like this, traffic is the great equaliser.
Where you can get cheeky is with the roughies. Acres Destiny (No.5) in Race 1, and then Flying Rupert (No.8) in Race 5, they're the "if it collapses" style plays. Don't force it. You back them because the structure gives them a path, not because you're bored.
And for the sequences, this meeting isn't forgiving. So I'm keeping the quaddie legs shaped tightly where the favourites are strong, and letting a bit of width creep in where the race can actually blow out.
