✗ MISS -$12 Final

Race type: Maiden Hcp, 1400m
Map & tempo: Slow pace, so midfield stalkers can still cash late
Punty read: Gold Decree should be right in the sweet spot, she's the "gets there when it matters" type if the field doesn't go bonkers early. Son Of Rubick and Sensesational Star look like the main threats, but if this tempo stays slow, you want the one most comfortable sitting close and letting others peel back. The roughie angle is Distant Stripes if she gets a clean passage, because she's got the gear on for a reason.

Top 3 + Roughie ($11.98 pool)

1. Gold Decree (No.6) — $4.20 / $1.65 🏆 2ND
Bet $11.98 Win — ✗ Lost, net -$11.98
Prob 33.0% | Place: 47.0% | Value: 1.30x
Why Market is locked in for a win, and her sectionals say she can hold her own late without needing a miracle run.

2. Son Of Rubick (No.2) — $3.85 / $1.82 🏆 UNPLACED
Bet Tracked
Prob 27.2% | Place: 40.3% | Value: 1.47x
Why Only two places paid in a field this size, and skinny place divvies make savers a mug's game — this is a win-only race. Tracked, not staked.

3. Sensesational Star (No.8) — $4.70 / $2.15 🏆 4TH

Prob 7.0% | Place: 12.2% | Value: 0.65x
Why Her path to winning is there if traffic breaks perfect, but place value is too thin in a short-pay layout.

✓ WON +$26 Final

Race type: Maiden Plate, 900m
Map & tempo: Genuine pace, leaders create chaos, then it's who holds together best
Punty read: European should be a straight lane for the win, because this 900m sprint is all about being in the right spot early and not dropping the ball at the turn. Brave Summit and Aerialize are the obvious pressure points for exacta and place, but for a win ticket, I want the short one that handles this map. Magic Royale is your "if the pace cooks, she's there" roughie type.

Top 3 + Roughie ($15.00 pool)

★ PUNTY'S PICK 1. European (No.4) — $2.75 / $1.45 🏆 WINNER
Bet $15.00 Win — ✓ Won, net +$26.25
Prob 50.6% | Place: 69.0% | Value: 1.27x
Why She's the class spine and can race in control, especially with this genuine pace helping the right runners.

Prob 14.2% | Place: 61.9% | Value: 1.05x

✓ WON +$12 Final

Race type: Benchmark 82, 1600m
Map & tempo: Slow pace, so the horse with position and staying power gets paid
Punty read: This is a textbook "Triptolemus does the right thing and wins anyway" race. If he gets to the front or sits close, the 1600 lets him build momentum and not get stuck in a pocket. Canny Hell is the main danger if there's any luck in the running lane, but Due Calzini is the kind of outsider that makes you sweat if the favourite has traffic problems.

Top 3 + Roughie ($11.00 pool)

★ PUNTY'S PICK 1. Triptolemus (No.6) — $2.05 / $1.25 🏆 WINNER
Bet $11.00 Win — ✓ Won, net +$11.55
Prob 55.1% | Place: 12.2% | Value: 1.20x
Why Slow tempo at 1600 usually turns into "be best positioned and keep going", and he fits that script.

2. Canny Hell (No.2) — $3.20 / $1.60 🏆 2ND
Bet Tracked
Prob 24.5% | Place: 12.2% | Value: 0.79x

✗ MISS -$10 Final

Race type: Benchmark 66, 1000m
Map & tempo: Moderate pace, so on-pace horses can hold the whip hand
Punty read: This is a blink-and-you-miss-it 1000. I want horses who can either lead or race on the right side of the pace, because 1000m at Corowa is where "one off the rail" can be the difference between job done and bottled it.

Marine Girl is the bet, she's got the place zip and she's sitting in a lane where she can press and keep running. Narcissist is the market sharper, Blue Akoya is the value with a chance to sit just off the speed and strike late. Bargino is the roughie if the leaders tire earlier than expected.

Top 3 + Roughie ($10.50 pool)

1. Marine Girl (No.7) — $4.20 / $1.75 🏆 UNPLACED
Bet $10.50 Win — ✗ Lost, net -$10.50
Prob 21.5% | Place: 62.6% | Value: 0.96x
Why Place-first type that also wins when the pace doesn't sprint too hard, plus the run shape suits her.

2. Narcissist (No.2) — $3.60 / $1.57 🏆 WINNER
Bet Tracked
Prob 21.9% | Place: 60.6% | Value: 0.93x
Why A real chance — but at $1.57 the place the numbers don't give me enough edge to insure with. Watching, not betting.

Bet Tracked
Prob 8.1% | Place: 27.9% | Value: 1.13x

✗ MISS -$15 Final

Race type: Maiden Plate, 1200m
Map & tempo: Genuine pace, but this is where rhythm matters more than sprinting early
Punty read: Levens Hall is the cleanest story on the card for me. She's built to get confident early and then keep finding. Red Light Rachel is the one who can run a big one in this sprinting profile and sneak into the top 2 if the leaders give her the cart. Duke Of Zhou is the live rough outsider, but I'm not forcing it, I'm letting the market and the shape decide.

Top 3 + Roughie ($15.00 pool)

★ PUNTY'S PICK 1. Levens Hall (No.11) — $2.50 / $1.37 🏆 2ND
Bet $15.00 Win — ✗ Lost, net -$15.00
Prob 46.0% | Place: 69.0% | Value: 1.29x
Why Blinkers do the trick and she's got the class to win without drama.

2. Red Light Rachel (No.7) — $2.64 / $1.20 🏆 4TH
Bet Tracked
Prob 31.5% | Place: 69.0% | Value: 0.94x

✗ MISS -$5 Final

Race type: Class 1, 1600m
Map & tempo: Genuine pace, so midfield shouldn't be too deep unless they're absolute class
Punty read: This one's got enough pace to make front-runners survive, and Scorched Lane looks like she can control it, but my win lean here is Chief Of War. The race shape suits him, and he's got that "I'm not winning by luck, I'm doing it off position" profile.

Scorched Lane is the value win if you want to get tricky, Hold This is the place-type for the end-of-line grind, Brass Monkeys is the roughie if the race splits and he finds a seam.

Top 3 + Roughie ($5.00 pool)

★ PUNTY'S PICK 1. Chief Of War (No.3) — $2.05 / $1.20 🏆 2ND
Bet $5.00 Win — ✗ Lost, net -$5.00
Prob 35.1% | Place: 69.0% | Value: 0.79x
Why He's positioned to take the sting out of the race, and the pace scenario sets up exactly for that style.

2. Scorched Lane (No.5) — $5.50 / $1.65 🏆 7TH
Bet Tracked
Prob 21.6% | Place: 69.0% | Value: 1.50x
Why A real chance — but at $1.65 the place the numbers don't give me enough edge to insure with. Watching, not betting.

3. Hold This (No.12) — $7.00 / $1.82 🏆 3RD
Bet Tracked
Prob 13.0% | Place: 50.3% | Value: 1.07x
Why A real chance — but at $1.82 the place the numbers don't give me enough edge to insure with. Watching, not betting.

Roughie: Brass Monkeys (No.2) — $9.00 / $2.25 🏆 8TH
Bet Tracked
Prob 10.4% | Place: 40.3% | Value: 1.15x
Why If it's a midfield pace battle, he can get the right run, and place dividends are the sweet spot for him.

✗ MISS -$13 Final

Race type: Benchmark 58, 1300m
Map & tempo: Genuine pace, so midfield must attack, not just hope
Punty read: Annotate is the main event. This race looks like it's been set up for a horse to sit in the right spot, then turn it into a stamina test without getting shuffled out of it. Mahmudah and Black Adam are the main challengers, but Mahmudah's draw and race pattern scream "danger if the leaders are vulnerable", while Black Adam is the more consistent on-pace threat.

Rain Queen is your roughie, she can take advantage if the pace burns out and the race turns into a finishing straight shootout.

Top 3 + Roughie ($13.00 pool)

1. Annotate (No.3) — $7.50 / $2.65 🏆 2ND
Bet $13.00 Win — ✗ Lost, net -$13.00
Prob 25.1% | Place: 65.4% | Value: 1.30x
Why She's built for a controlled midfield run, then she's got the finish to land the punch.

2. Mahmudah (No.7) — $3.25 / $1.45 🏆 UNPLACED
Bet Tracked
Prob 18.9% | Place: 63.1% | Value: 0.73x
Why A real chance — but at $1.45 the place the numbers don't give me enough edge to insure with. Watching, not betting.

3. Black Adam (No.4) — $6.40 / $2.05 🏆 UNPLACED
Bet Tracked
Prob 13.3% | Place: 47.0% | Value: 1.09x

Prob 5.9% | Place: 21.7% | Value: 1.06x
Why Needs the pace to falter and for her to get a smooth run, but that's racing, not magic.

Punty's Early Mail

Rightio Loose Units, Corowa's on Good 4, rail's True, and the weather's giving me that "it could stay fine… or it could turn the whole day into a spicy Greek tragedy" vibe with that late rain risk. If it rains, the backmarkers won't suddenly learn to fly, but they'll start paying more for the privilege, and that's when you want value on runners who look like they can run through the line.

Race 3 is your spine early, Triptolemus looks like the map basically fits him like a glove. Race 2 is a speedmap battle too, but European at short odds is one of those "surely it's her turn" calls. Then Race 5 is Levens Hall doing the boring work, straight out front-ish and hard to peg once she hits a rhythm. If you're chasing one multi to stitch your day together, do it with the three big faves lined up in different races, because that's the closest thing to a cheat code on a provincial card.

And hey, keep an eye on the wet-trend comments in your head, not on your phone, because Corowa can go from "solid" to "hold my beer" when the crowd least expects it. My job is to keep you out of the worst traps, and point you at the ones that are at least wearing the right shoes.

MEET SNAPSHOT

Track: Good 4, 1000m-1600m card
Rail: True
Official going: Good 4 (expected to play True-to-form, speed on is king)
Weather: Partly cloudy, 19°C, humidity 64%, wind 7km/h NNW (watch for late rain risk at about 1am)
Early lane guess: Short-to-mid drawn leaders holding up better than the deep bombers
Tempo profile: Slow-ish to genuine in the sprints, so the leaders matter more than usual, but class still slices through
Jockeys to follow:
Jake Duffy: Big calls sprinkled through the card, he lands on pace horses like it's his job.
Josh Richards: When he's on a live one, he tends to keep them switched on early.
Cory Parish: Steady hand who doesn't waste petrol, good for control in small fields.
Stables to respect:
Shilleagh Meyervale (6 runners): Often brings horses that jump and go, especially with tactical positioning.
N J Osborne (4 runners): Knows how to get them fit for the local conditions, and she does well when the race shape suits.
Ben, Will & Jd Hayes (3 runners): If you see their horse with the right gear, assume it's meant to run a big one.

Punty's take: This meeting's got that classic Corowa pattern, the speed horses look good on paper, but the real money comes from picking which "on-pace" can actually hold their spot when pressure comes. In the early races, the pace profiles are setting up for winners who can either lead or sit within striking distance without getting bullied.

Race 1 is a maiden where the market is acting like Gold Decree should win, and I get it. The big danger is not that she can't run, it's that the whole race might be a "positions" game if it spreads late. So my approach is to back the most likely winner, then treat everything else like a place-through race unless you're grabbing a correct roughie.

Race 3 is the one I'm most interested in, because Triptolemus is built for a slow tempo at 1600, get to the front or park close, then let the finish do the talking. It's the kind of race where the favourite wins without needing to be a superstar, just needs to be switched on. Then Race 4 and 6 both have enough pace to tempt you into overthinking, so I'm keeping it clean.

What it means for you: If you're the "show me one thing and I'll follow" punter, you should be pretty happy with the spine. Triptolemus (Race 3), European (Race 2), and Levens Hall (Race 5) are the three I'd build my day around, because they're the ones most likely to match the map and just keep doing the job.

If you're chasing dividends, the late value is in your roughies and place side, not in trying to brute-force a longshot to win in every race. Corowa's also got that late rain wobble, so if it starts to drizzle after the first few races, you'll want to be more aggressive about place bets on horses who can keep running, instead of trusting a single ticket that needs everything to go right.
