✓ WON +$26 Final

Race type: Handicap, 1300m
Map & tempo: Genuine Pace, Kessler and the speed boys setting the table early
Punty read: This is a proper run at it. Press Express has the "get on with it" position in a race where you want to be either leading or close enough to pounce when the pressure arrives. Kessler can still give a shake from the lead, Merimbula's drawn well for the stalking job, and Tee Galleria is the sort that can run into a place if the speed gets ragged. The roughie Itwasonlyakiss has pacifiers first time, so if the start is the difference, you'll know quick.

Top 3 + Roughie ($13.00 pool)

1. Press Express (No.6) — $4.40 / $1.62 🏆 WINNER
Bet $13.00 Each Way ($6.50W + $6.50P) — ✓ Won, net +$26.13
Prob 25.3% | Place: 61.8% | Value: 1.48x
Why He maps onto the speed, and with a genuine tempo you want a horse that can keep grinding late without needing miracles.

2. Merimbula (No.3) — $3.20 / $1.40 🏆 3RD
Bet Tracked
Prob 23.7% | Place: 61.5% | Value: 1.01x
Why The top pick's each-way already covers the place angle here — doubling up is paying twice for the same insurance. Tracked instead.

3. Kessler (No.1) — $3.20 / $1.37 🏆 8TH
Bet Tracked
Prob 15.8% | Place: 46.9% | Value: 0.66x
Why The lead threat is real, but with the up-weight and that wide last-start mess, I'm respecting the risk.

Roughie: Itwasonlyakiss (No.2) — $9.50 / $2.55 🏆 6TH
Bet Tracked
Prob 6.7% | Place: 28.3% | Value: 0.95x
Why Pacifiers first time is interesting, but this is more "if it starts right" than "safe win".

✗ MISS -$12 Final

Race type: Handicap, 1300m
Map & tempo: Slow Pace, Bruno Bruno and Bon's Your Back have the pace map edge
Punty read: Slow tempo means positioning matters more than running on vibes. Bruno Bruno at barrier 1 is the best sort of problem for opponents, because he can control the race without needing to find "extra" speed. All Inclusive is in the on-pace mix too, and Order Online looks like the sort to run on if the leaders don't sprint themselves into the ground. Rivkin is the roughie in theory, but today I'd rather let him fill the jumps for other punters.

Top 3 + Roughie ($11.88 pool)

1. Bruno Bruno (No.1) — $2.70 / $1.57 🏆 6TH
Bet $11.88 Win — ✗ Lost, net -$11.88
Prob 31.3% | Place: 46.1% | Value: 1.12x
Why Barrier 1 in a slow race, you get a clean trip and the class to lift when others get tangled.

2. All Inclusive (No.7) — $4.20 / $2.05 🏆 7TH
Bet Tracked
Prob 18.9% | Place: 30.7% | Value: 1.21x
Why Only two places paid in a field this size, and skinny place divvies make savers a mug's game — this is a win-only race. Tracked, not staked.

3. Order Online (No.6) — $4.40 / $2.15 🏆 2ND
Bet Tracked
Prob 18.4% | Place: 31.7% | Value: 1.08x
Why He can run into it, but I'm backing the top pick and letting the rest be "watch and learn".

Roughie: Rivkin (No.2) — $10.00 / $3.70 🏆 4TH
Bet Tracked
Prob 5.7% | Place: 16.9% | Value: 0.95x
Why Needs everything to go right in a race that likely stays compact early, tough ask from midfield speed.

✗ MISS -$10 Final

Race type: Handicap, 1200m
Map & tempo: Slow Pace, Funnyifitwon and Tokyo Bandit want an easier run
Punty read: This is one of those 1200m heats where the "first serious move" decides the finish. Miss Black Diamond and Funnyifitwon are the ones I want near the front half, with Mods and Red Extreme the danger if they get a cleaner lane turning for home. Tokyo Bandit's gear overhaul is a big swing, and that can light them up, or it can take a lap to get settled. Either way, I'm keeping my bankroll on the obvious win lanes.

Top 3 + Roughie ($10.44 pool)

1. Miss Black Diamond (No.3) — $3.50 / $1.82 🏆 UNPLACED
Bet $10.44 Win — ✗ Lost, net -$10.44
Prob 23.2% | Place: 42.6% | Value: 1.01x
Why First-up from 97 days, but at this track and distance, she's built for a midfield-to-forward grind and she's got the class.

2. Funnyifitwon (No.1) — $4.20 / $2.05 🏆 2ND
Bet Tracked
Prob 22.2% | Place: 38.8% | Value: 1.00x
Why Only two places paid in a field this size, and skinny place divvies make savers a mug's game — this is a win-only race. Tracked, not staked.

3. Mods (No.4) — $4.50 / $2.15 🏆 3RD
Bet Tracked
Prob 17.4% | Place: 34.1% | Value: 1.00x
Why Capable, but the form and pace setup says "show me" not "cash it".

Roughie: Red Extreme (No.6) — $5.00 / $2.35 🏆 4TH
Bet Tracked
Prob 15.7% | Place: 32.7% | Value: 1.11x
Why If he finds a lane and the tempo stays slow, he can sprint home, but he's still a risk in a tight field.

✗ MISS -$10 Final

Race type: Handicap, 1100m
Map & tempo: Hot Pace, Genetic Freak and Struck Gold pressing early
Punty read: 1100m at Fannie Bay is a bully fight. The early speed is serious, and that means the best horses are the ones who can either sit parked and breathe, or strike off the front and keep their momentum. Struck Gold is the one with the right combination of pace and class, Field Of Flutes is the stalking danger who gets the right run if the leaders tangle, and Atlantic Ocean is the "it only takes one moment" third option. Polarising can run on, but I'm not seeing the cleaner lane path for a win bet today.

Top 3 + Roughie ($10.50 pool)

1. Struck Gold (No.4) — $2.85 / $1.40 🏆 4TH
Bet $10.50 Win — ✗ Lost, net -$10.50
Prob 24.2% | Place: 46.1% | Value: 1.10x
Why He's right on the pace, and when the tempo is hot, horses that can stay balanced usually hold out the late rush.

2. Field Of Flutes (No.1) — $4.60 / $1.75 🏆 WINNER
Bet Tracked
Prob 18.9% | Place: 38.9% | Value: 1.16x
Why A real chance — but at $1.75 the place the numbers don't give me enough edge to insure with. Watching, not betting.

3. Atlantic Ocean (No.6) — $5.00 / $1.85 🏆 7TH
Bet Tracked
Prob 13.8% | Place: 45.4% | Value: 0.92x
Why Can ping forward and keep coming, but needs a kinder race shape than the hot tempo likely offers.

Roughie: Jumping Power Two (No.8) — $9.00 / $2.65 🏆 8TH
Bet Tracked
Prob 7.8% | Place: 28.0% | Value: 0.94x
Why He's got speed, but at 1100m the margin is razor thin, and he'll need the race to swing his way.

✗ MISS -$12 Final

Race type: Maiden, 1100m
Map & tempo: Moderate Pace, Prince Of Sparta and Warrego set up the tempo
Punty read: Maiden 1100m is where you can either look smart, or you can look like you've donated to the pokies. Prince Of Sparta is the clear tactical piece, he's got the gate to get on with it, and the gear tweaks point to intent. Warrego is the main danger for the place, Mistifyzou is the on-pace sort who can sneak into the trifecta if it turns into a chase, and Brave Heritage is there for the upset if he puts it together early. Milk Foam is more "running on" than "leading into the winner's circle" from what I'm reading.

Top 3 + Roughie ($12.00 pool)

★ PUNTY'S PICK 1. Prince Of Sparta (No.2) — $2.25 / $1.25 🏆 5TH
Bet $12.00 Win — ✗ Lost, net -$12.00
Prob 35.3% | Place: 46.1% | Value: 1.44x
Why The pace map fits, the gear changes support the jump to performance, and at this price you back the horse that looks like it wants to win.

2. Warrego (No.3) — $2.65 / $1.45 🏆 WINNER
Bet Tracked
Prob 27.4% | Place: 38.9% | Value: 0.89x
Why Only two places paid in a field this size, and skinny place divvies make savers a mug's game — this is a win-only race. Tracked, not staked.

3. Mistifyzou (No.5) — $3.80 / $1.72 🏆 2ND
Bet Tracked
Prob 23.8% | Place: 38.6% | Value: 0.88x
Why On the pace and could run a big one, but I'm not over-spreading the win ticket.

Roughie: Brave Heritage (No.1) — $10.00 / $3.20 🏆 3RD
Bet Tracked
Prob 8.1% | Place: 19.5% | Value: 0.75x
Why If he starts better than his prep suggests, he can clunk a place, but winning needs a few things to line up.

Punty's Early Mail

Rightio Loose Units, Darwin heat and a Good track, rail true, and everyone's gonna sprint like they stole it. The vibe is speed early, respect the class, and when the value turns up, you pounce like a bloke chasing last chips at the pub.

MEET SNAPSHOT

Track: Fannie Bay, 1100-1300m card
Rail: True
Official going: Good (expected to play Speed vs Stamina, with early position paying off)
Weather: Possible shower, 28°C, humidity 71%, wind 7km/h NNW (watch for the little momentum-killers, sudden gusts, and if it starts to soften the kickback)
Early lane guess: Back the leaders early, then find the runner who can stick close without getting hung wide.
Tempo profile: Genuine to hot early in the sprints, slow pockets rare, so if you're drifting back too far, you're doing extra work for your dinner.
Jockeys to follow:
Ms Dakota Gillett(a1.5): She's on a few of the "map fits" today, and when she's got a plan she sticks to it.
Jarrod Todd: Gets horses where they need to be, particularly around the lead or stalking lanes.
Ms Jessica Booth(a2): Reliable read on positioning, and her runners often give you a real crack at the finish.
Stables to respect:
Philip Cole (8 runners): When he's got one ready, they jump like they mean it.
G Clarke (6 runners): Loves this local rhythm, and his horses usually have a reason for being in the money.
Ms T Halter (5 runners): Gear tweaks and first-up intent look sharp across the card.

Punty's take:

Fannie Bay today feels like one of those meetings where the front half sets the script. The rail is true, the going's Good, and the early zip is genuine enough that you can't afford to let the speed get too comfy. If you're waiting for it to "develop", you'll be watching other blokes have fun through the corner while you're bargaining with the tote.

My main storyline is simple. In the sprint races, the winners are coming from either proper early position or the horse that can travel without burning matches. Press Express in Race 1 looks like the kind of front-running type that gives you a clean ride, Merimbula the stalking threat underneath, and then Kessler and the roughie vibes are there for the "don't overthink it" lane.

Then we hit the feature 1100m speed trap in Race 4 and the maiden pinch in Race 5. Struck Gold is the classy engine, Field Of Flutes is the stalking danger, and Atlantic Ocean is the "could surprise if the race falls your way" player. Race 5 is Prince Of Sparta's to lose if he handles the freshen up and keeps the tempo honest.

What it means for you:

For betting, I'm treating this card like a buffet: have your spine bets where the pace and class line up, then add one roughie where the price can still respect a run into the money. The value on the day is in the horses that either firmed through the market or have a clean path from their barrier with the expected tempo.

So here's the practical game plan. Race 1 is where you get aggressive on Press Express, Race 2 is Bruno Bruno as your anchor, Race 3 is a "safety around the obvious" situation with Miss Black Diamond as the main character, Race 4 is all about Struck Gold's lead-stalk setup, and Race 5 is swing-for-the-fences with Prince Of Sparta as the main win play.

Now pick your poison, place your bets, and if any of these drift into chaos late, you'll at least be on the right movie scene.
