This is not a day for heroic nonsense. Donald on Heavy 8 is basically a test of whether your horse can hold a position and keep trucking when the chips are down. The sprints look pretty map-heavy: Light Filled in Race 1 and Big Boy Bowie in Race 2 both get the sort of run that makes punters feel clever before they've even ordered their second beer. Then you've got races like 4, 5 and 8 where the pace can go soft enough to let a grinder or a swooper sneak into the frame.
The market's had a fair old chew at a heap of the obvious ones, which usually means a few stable camps have come to the party for real. Light Filled, Packers Journey, Impending Swan, Freshwater Fox, Adjudicate, Zorro's Flight and Paddypie have all been sniffed at, and on a day like this you don't want to be fighting the tape for the sake of it. The sneaky bit is the middle-distance stuff: if one or two jockeys get it wrong and stack them up, the roughies can get a crack at the minors and make life miserable for the clean-sheet punter.
What it means for you:
Keep your biggest swings for the races where the model and the map are singing from the same hymn sheet.
