Punty's Punts
Race type: Maiden Hcp, 1000m
Map & tempo: Moderate Pace, with pace-disadvantaged runners likely to pay for being too far back early
Punty read:
Bullrun is the one drawing into the "no drama" pocket and she's got that on-pace map. Saint Anns at barrier 2 is the classic rail-hugger threat, she'll stalk with confidence and make it hard for the wide-ish types. Love Of Mine is dealing with first-up gear and a medical excuse angle, so if she wins you'll hear the grandstands go quiet, if she doesn't, it'll be because she needed the run.
Top 3 horses are set up for a sprint where positioning wins, not where you "discover sprinting" over the last 100m.
Top 3 + Roughie ($15.00 pool)
1. Bullrun (No.2) — $5.00 🏆 2ND
Bet $15.00 Each Way ($7.50W + $7.50P) — Cashed, net -$6.00
Prob 29.0% | Place: 69.0% | Value: 1.45x
Why On-pace map, right barrier to save ground, and the tongue tie first time is the kind of tweak that can sharpen a run.
2. Saint Anns (No.12) — $3.00 / $1.32 🏆 WINNER
Bet Tracked
Prob 30.1% | Place: 69.0% | Value: 0.99x
Why The top pick's each-way already covers the place angle here — doubling up is paying twice for the same insurance. Tracked instead.
3. Loquito (No.11) — $5.80 / $1.85 🏆 UNPLACED
Bet Tracked
Prob 10.8% | Place: 40.3% | Value: 0.50x
Why The top pick's each-way already covers the place angle here — doubling up is paying twice for the same insurance. Tracked instead.
Roughie: Ready For It (No.7) — $12.00 / $2.80 🏆 UNPLACED
Bet Tracked
Prob 7.7% | Place: 29.0% | Value: 1.16x
Why If the speed collapses and the race opens up for a late run, he can run into the finish fast enough.
Race type: Handicap, 1630m
Map & tempo: Slow Pace, pace advantage to Three Gongs and I Want It All
Punty read:
This is one of those "feel the tempo" handicaps. When it's slow, the backmarkers can stay in the race and the ones that kick at the right time get paid. Pride Of Savabella is the main danger because she's got the early position, and the market knows it, but I'm also keeping an eye on the finishers.
Panda Drum has the value angle for the places, and Nitrogen is another one who can sneak into the first three if the pace stays dawdly like it might. Final Comment is drifting in my head as an upset, but it's more "watch carefully" than "touch and go" for me.
Top 3 + Roughie ($12.82 pool)
1. Pride Of Savabella (No.1) — $1.90 / $1.25 🏆 UNPLACED
Bet $12.82 Win — ✗ Lost, net -$12.82
Prob 34.2% | Place: 51.5% | Value: 0.65x
Why She's set up to take control in a slow-tempo race, and her profile says she won't get outrun in the run to the line.
2. Panda Drum (No.9) — $5.00 / $2.35 🏆 WINNER
Bet Tracked
Prob 22.6% | Place: 36.6% | Value: 1.36x
Why Only two places paid in a field this size, and skinny place divvies make savers a mug's game — this is a win-only race. Tracked, not staked.
3. Nitrogen (No.5) — $6.00 / $2.60 🏆 3RD
Bet Tracked
Prob 12.7% | Place: 21.7% | Value: 1.30x
Why Short field, two places, thin divvies — the pool stays on the two bets that earn it. He's on the watch list.
Roughie: Final Comment (No.2) — $10.00 / $3.60 🏆 2ND
Bet Tracked
Prob 6.7% | Place: 12.2% | Value: 0.67x
Why His upset path needs the race to break wrong and him to get the perfect trip.
Race type: Benchmark 62, 1280m
Map & tempo: Slow Pace, pace advantaged Bold Smuggler and Lonergy
Punty read:
This is the type of 1280 where the slow start turns sprint sections into chess moves. Too Many Kisses looks like the horse to build on the right kind of run, and Lunar Eight is the obvious "travels then pounces" challenger.
Lonergy is the value place option because he has the stalking style that suits when the pace is quiet and horses are still saving energy for the last stretch. Eastcoast Hussler is the roughie for when they get stretched and the track starts to string out like a playlist from your mate who has no taste.
Top 3 + Roughie ($8.50 pool)
1. Too Many Kisses (No.9) — $2.50 / $1.14 🏆 WINNER
Bet $8.50 Win — ✓ Won, net +$12.75
Prob 25.8% | Place: 69.0% | Value: 0.65x
Why He's the main on-pace type in a slow race scenario, so he's got the best shot at being in the right spot early and still there late.
2. Lunar Eight (No.4) — $3.50 / $1.37 🏆 4TH
Bet Tracked
Prob 23.8% | Place: 69.0% | Value: 1.04x
Why A real chance — but at $1.37 the place the numbers don't give me enough edge to insure with. Watching, not betting.
3. Lonergy (No.3) — $4.20 / $1.50 🏆 3RD
Bet Tracked
Prob 18.7% | Place: 69.0% | Value: 1.07x
Why A real chance — but at $1.50 the place the numbers don't give me enough edge to insure with. Watching, not betting.
Roughie: Eastcoast Hussler (No.8) — $9.50 🏆 UNPLACED
Bet Tracked
Prob 8.6% | Place: 36.6% | Value: 0.82x
Why If the race bunches early then opens up, he's got the style to take advantage and hit the top three.
Race type: Class 6, 1200m
Map & tempo: Genuine Pace, leaders on
Punty read:
Woodstock Rock is set to do the job up front, and with a genuine tempo, you generally want a horse that can keep breathing for longer. Ellibaby is the main threat because blinkers go on and the tactical gear shift can sharpen her from where she needs to be.
Humble Hero is the value bet in this bunch, because he's positioned to run the race rather than chase the race. Ichiberu is the longshot gamble for when the pace steadies and the right runner gets the gap.
Top 3 + Roughie ($8.50 pool)
1. Woodstock Rock (No.5) — $2.70 / $1.17 🏆 WINNER
Bet $8.50 Win — ✓ Won, net +$14.45
Prob 24.9% | Place: 69.0% | Value: 0.67x
Why The map says "front with purpose", and on a Good 4 with the rail true, leaders get their chance.
2. Ellibaby (No.10) — $3.45 / $1.35 🏆 2ND
Bet Tracked
Prob 22.1% | Place: 69.0% | Value: 0.97x

Prob 2.5% | Place: 12.2% | Value: 0.66x
Why Needs chaos in the run, and it has to be the right kind of chaos.
Race type: Class 1, 1200m
Map & tempo: Genuine Pace, Queen Of Light pace advantaged
Punty read:
Hooroo is the easiest story on the card. She's the leader, she's going to get first crack at the race, and the market has basically put a name on the trophy already. Brutal Lass is the main "what if" because the price and the style fit the places, and Crudo has the profile of a horse that can be close enough to pounce if the leader is under pressure.
Heroic Talent is the roughie only because you can't ignore that she can hit the line, but I'm not betting my night on her winning unless the race turns into a trackwork demolition derby.
Top 3 + Roughie ($10.50 pool)
★ PUNTY'S PICK 1. Hooroo (No.2) — $1.70 / $1.04 🏆 WINNER
Bet $10.50 Win — ✓ Won, net +$7.35
Prob 42.7% | Place: 69.0% | Value: 0.73x

Why Needs everything to fall into place and the pace to suit her late run.
Race type: Open Handicap, 1000m
Map & tempo: Moderate Pace, leaders at speed
Punty read:
This is Mississippi Morn's race to lose. She's got the front-running style, and at 1000m on Good 4, once a horse pins the tempo you're basically playing catch-up footy. Sailor's Rum looks the obvious danger but the map doesn't suggest she'll steamroll over the top, more like fight for the right to run second.
Pre Eminence is there as the "always dangerous" type if he gets a clean run, but I think the market has the danger horse wrong and they're underrating Mississippi Morn's control.
Top 3 + Roughie ($15.00 pool)
1. Mississippi Morn (No.8) — $3.35 / $1.25 🏆 WINNER
Bet $15.00 Each Way ($7.50W + $7.50P) — ✓ Won, net +$19.50
Prob 31.1% | Place: 69.0% | Value: 1.31x
Why She maps to lead, the surface suits, and she's built to hold on under pressure rather than fade late.
2. Sailor's Rum (No.9) — $2.98 / $1.22 🏆 UNPLACED

Roughie: Outback Action (No.2) — $6.50 🏆 4TH
Bet Tracked
Prob 6.7% | Place: 23.4% | Value: 0.43x
Why He needs an opening and a clean run, and this race format can shut that door fast.
Race type: Benchmark 50, 1000m
Map & tempo: Genuine Pace, pace advantaged Twoexcel
Punty read:
Short sprint, big opinions, and lots of horses that can run a decent last furlong. Scarlet Haze is the early leader threat, Anthropology is the pacesetter that can also hold a spot, and I'm Stellar is the one who can slide into the first three if the race bunches and there's room late.
Twoexcel is more of a place-getter, Gunboat is a tough outside runner type, but the way I see it, this race is about who gets the easiest run through the middle. If you're stuck three wide early, you'll feel it at the line.
Top 3 + Roughie ($10.50 pool)
1. Anthropology (No.11) — $3.85 / $1.65 🏆 2ND
Bet $10.50 Win — ✗ Lost, net -$10.50
Prob 24.0% | Place: 64.4% | Value: 1.16x
Why Versatile enough to use the speed, and he should handle the Good 4 well in a race where positioning is everything.
2. Scarlet Haze (No.7) — $5.30 / $1.90 🏆 4TH
Bet Tracked
Prob 19.6% | Place: 56.2% | Value: 1.28x

Roughie: Speed King (No.6) — $8.00 🏆 UNPLACED
Bet Tracked
Prob 7.4% | Place: 23.4% | Value: 0.59x
Why Needs the track to open up and the speed to hold just long enough for his run.
That's the ticket as I struck it — the legs below are exactly what ran, no rewriting history.
Smart: 5,4,8 / 2,3,4,5 / 8,2,3 / 11,6,7 (108 combos x $0.19 = $20.00) -- 19% flexi
The day's multi leans on three win legs across the card.
1 - Pride Of Savabella (Race 2, No.1) — $1.91
2 - Hooroo (Race 5, No.2)✓ Won — $1.70
3 - Mississippi Morn (Race 6, No.8)✓ Won — $3.35
Meeting Stats
Selections
Punty's Early Mail
Rightio Loose Units, Emerald on a Good 4, true rail, sunny as fuck, and the track should reward the horses that can actually hold their ground instead of doing a "see ya later" impression at 600m. It's the sort of meeting where pace maps feel like cheat codes, because the tempo looks organised enough to sort the pretenders from the proper runners.
If you're the type who lives for overlays, today's got a few cheeky drifters and value backs. But I'm also not blind to the chalk, because this surface and this rail setup says the best chances are still the ones with early speed and market confidence. I'm chasing a "Big 3 spine" that can win, then filling with place value where it makes sense.
The vibe: Race 5 and Race 6 are where the cash register starts singing, Race 7 is a proper little sprint lottery for the places, and Race 4 is the sweet spot where one value galloper can break hearts at short-to-mid odds.
MEET SNAPSHOT
Track: Emerald, Sprint to middle distance 4-7m card
Rail: True
Official going: Good 4 (expected to play Speed on, keep-it-honest)
Weather: Sunny, 29°C, watch for gusty straight-line skirmishes (sudden wind pushes can mess with wrong-position horses)
Early lane guess: On-pacers and midpack stalkers with a clean run
Tempo profile: Moderate to genuine, enough for leaders to set it up but not enough to leave the closers stranded
Jockeys to follow:
Chris Whiteley: In the right races for pace horses, often takes the sit and lets them go.
Ms Gabrielle Semmens: When she's on a short-priced type, she rides like she knows where the line is.
Warwick Satherley: Loves a timing run, especially when the map suits and the field isn't chaotic.
Stables to respect:
Kevin Miller (2 runners): Gets them fit and ready, especially when the market has a plan.
R T Hay (2 runners): If there's gear up or a tactical change, this stable usually turns it into results.
M A Oates (1 runners): Consistent with horses that can land a rhythm and run the finish out.
Punty's take:
This is a "position matters" card. On Good 4 with the rail true, the leaders and the ones that sit within striking distance are the main characters. You'll see horses trying to win late when they should be trying to stay near the front early. That's where the day turns sour for most mugs.
Race 5 is the big banana peel. Hooroo is the class act on paper, with real pace and the sort of map where you can forgive a little bit of chaos because the horse still does the hard work. Race 6 is where I like Mississippi Morn, because this handicap profile screams "front-run lane, control the rhythm, don't waste petrol."
Then Race 7, it's all about the sprint maths. Anthropology and Scarlet Haze look like they want the same part of the track, and that means place payouts could get interesting if one of them runs wide or bumps into traffic. I'm not chasing a miracle exacta. I'm chasing the right horses landing in the first three, then letting the dividends do the talking.
What it means for you:
Bet with intention. In the earlier races, I'm not trying to outsmart the whole field, I'm trying to pick the horses that can handle the run. So when I've got a leader type or a stalker mapped to get cover, that's where your stake goes.
For the multi, I'm keeping it clean. It's Hooroo in Race 5, Pride Of Savabella in Race 2, and Mississippi Morn in Race 6. Those are the three I want to see hit without needing three different miracles in the same minute.
If you want a strategy, here it is: go win-focused in the mid races, then switch to place leverage in Race 7. Save the "hope" bets for roughies, because today that's where you can actually sprinkle fun without torching your whole bankroll.
