1615m · MAIDEN · 13:35
✗ MISS -$10 Final

Race type: Maiden, 1615m
Map & tempo: Slow pace expected, the race sets up for midfield to chase, then those who can still run through the last 200m on Soft.
Punty read:
Tasman Deel is the one that makes sense in a "Soft 5 maiden at a slow tempo" kind of race. With the speed not blazing, you want a horse that can track and then keep applying pressure without getting swallowed by the kick. Linda's Princess has the class profile to run on and Fashion Spree looks like the type that can keep moving late when the surface does its usual damp-work trick.

The danger is when the market gets cute and backs a backmarker into it. Birdy Girl and Atadcheeky can run into money because they've both had excuses floating around, but for winning, I'm leaning on the horses that can actually do the work in the run.

Top 3 + Roughie ($10.50 pool)

★ PUNTY'S PICK 1. Tasman Deel (No.6) — $1.62 / $1.12 🏆 2ND
Bet $10.50 Win — ✗ Lost, net -$10.50
Prob 41.2% | Place: 69.0% | Value: 1.23x
Why Soft 5 suits, pace is slow so he just needs to be in the right lane, and once he finds rhythm he keeps rolling.

2. Linda's Princess (No.10) — $5.00 / $1.95 🏆 UNPLACED
Bet Tracked
Prob 15.1% | Place: 61.0% | Value: 0.87x
Why A real chance — but at $1.95 the place the numbers don't give me enough edge to insure with. Watching, not betting.

3. Fashion Spree (No.9) — $7.60 / $2.15 🏆 WINNER
Bet Tracked
Prob 14.9% | Place: 41.5% | Value: 1.73x
Why Sectionals look lively and she can steam late, the only question is whether the leaders hold on long enough.

Roughie: Atadcheeky (No.1) — $13.00 / $3.50 🏆 3RD
Bet Tracked
Prob 10.2% | Place: 47.0% | Value: 1.85x
Why If the field bunches up on the heavy end, this is the sort that can sneak into the money, especially with a run that can be shaped from the back.

✗ MISS -$15 Final

Race type: Maiden, 1008m
Map & tempo: Moderate pace, short sprint where being in the first two lines matters heaps.
Punty read:
Tiggsy is the one I want. At this distance, the difference between winning and getting nutted at the line is usually a half-step of position. Tiggsy brings the gear and the gate, so she can find the spot early and then keep grinding while the Soft 5 chews up the run.

Rubinsky profiles like a place machine, and Langlo Crossing is the sort that can be dangerous if the tempo is right. But if you're chasing winners, this is Tiggsy's race to lose.

Top 3 + Roughie ($15.00 pool)

★ PUNTY'S PICK 1. Tiggsy (No.10) — $2.75 / $1.45 🏆 2ND
Bet $15.00 Win — ✗ Lost, net -$15.00
Prob 35.0% | Place: 69.0% | Value: 1.06x
Why Clean early speed, suited to a Soft sprint, and the gear change says they want an immediate response.

2. Rubinsky (No.5) — $3.50 / $1.62 🏆 3RD
Bet Tracked
Prob 24.0% | Place: 69.0% | Value: 0.74x
Why A real chance — but at $1.62 the place the numbers don't give me enough edge to insure with. Watching, not betting.

3. Langlo Crossing (No.13) — $8.20 / $2.25 🏆 WINNER
Bet Tracked
Prob 10.3% | Place: 57.1% | Value: 1.14x
Why Can run on for place if the track stays intact, but I'm not forcing it for win.

Roughie: Dream A Little (No.3) — $8.50 / $2.80 🏆 UNPLACED
Bet Tracked
Prob 8.8% | Place: 40.3% | Value: 0.67x
Why The route to winning is there, but I'm keeping the money where it matches the sprint map best.

✗ MISS -$15 Final

Race type: Class 3, 1008m
Map & tempo: Moderate pace, expect the leaders to set the tone and the finish to be all about who holds the line.
Punty read:
Rich Star is the headline. In a 1008m, if you're on pace and you can keep finding, you tend to keep winning. The market has him drifting a bit, which usually means there's a question, but with his profile and how this sort of sprint tends to pan out, I still want him as the spearhead.

Calido Magic is the standout upside runner, Ex Wife can sit near the pace, and Broken Wings gives you the "grab a lane, pounce late" angle.

Top 3 + Roughie ($15.00 pool)

1. Rich Star (No.1) — $2.30 / $1.25 🏆 3RD
Bet $15.00 Win — ✗ Lost, net -$15.00
Prob 30.6% | Place: 69.0% | Value: 0.87x
Why On-pace weapon, Soft sprint suits him, and the race shape supports a leader who can keep applying pressure.

2. Calido Magic (No.3) — $3.80 / $1.62 🏆 10TH
Bet Tracked
Prob 26.5% | Place: 69.0% | Value: 1.16x
Why A real chance — but at $1.62 the place the numbers don't give me enough edge to insure with. Watching, not betting.

3. Ex Wife (No.4) — $6.00 / $2.10 🏆 2ND
Bet Tracked
Prob 13.8% | Place: 61.2% | Value: 1.03x
Why She can stalk and run on, and with the tempo moderate, she gets every chance to pinch a spot at the finish.

Roughie: Pratt (No.2) — $15.00 / $3.30 🏆 WINNER
Bet Tracked
Prob 4.5% | Place: 21.7% | Value: 0.84x
Why He's a saver for the wider exotics mindset if the leaders do something ordinary.

Race type: Maiden, 1313m
Map & tempo: Moderate pace, this is where you want a horse that can stay balanced and not get bogged by the slow rhythm.
Punty read:
Columbo is the pick to beat, simple as that. He's got the best blend of early intent and that "can keep going" profile. Rupertano is the danger from the inside, Magatama adds a bit of pressure from her on-pace style, and Simmering looks like she can take a closing position and make it messy late.

This is the kind of race where the Soft 5 makes the run feel longer, so if you get stuck three deep or wide without cover, you'll spend your whole life trying to claw back.

Top 3 + Roughie ($13.00 pool)

1. Columbo (No.7) — $3.50 / $1.62 🏆 WINNER
Bet $13.00 Win — ✓ Won, net +$32.50
Prob 26.8% | Place: 67.3% | Value: 0.77x
Why Blinkers are a weapon when the track is holding, and the on-paper profile fits this distance in a Soft 5.

2. Rupertano (No.3) — $5.30 / $1.82 🏆 2ND
Bet Tracked
Prob 16.5% | Place: 53.8% | Value: 1.01x
Why A real chance — but at $1.82 the place the numbers don't give me enough edge to insure with. Watching, not betting.

3. Magatama (No.15) — $7.20 / $2.25 🏆 3RD
Bet Tracked
Prob 11.5% | Place: 34.1% | Value: 0.80x
Why She's got a legitimate pace look, but the win odds are a touch thin for me today.

Roughie: Simmering (No.5) — $11.00 / $2.90 🏆 UNPLACED
Bet Tracked
Prob 9.3% | Place: 29.0% | Value: 1.13x
Why If the race turns into a grind, she can snag a minor spot, but I'm keeping this as a flank punt.

Race type: Benchmark 58, 1413m
Map & tempo: Slow pace, so the leaders get to stay in play and the finish is all about who lasts on the wet.
Punty read:
Alabama Charm is the one leading into the finish in this kind of Soft 5 benchmark race. She profiles well for this slow-tempo setup, and with the field not flying early, she has the luxury of running her race instead of surviving someone else's.

Phoenix Power is a value-looking chance, Prince De Vega is consistent and Pearl Pendant can grab a slice if the leaders don't go too quick too late.

Top 3 + Roughie ($10.50 pool)

1. Alabama Charm (No.8) — $2.30 / $1.30 🏆 3RD
Bet $10.50 Win — ✗ Lost, net -$10.50
Prob 31.4% | Place: 69.0% | Value: 0.90x
Why Slow pace, Soft 5 endurance, she's got the right style to keep finding under pressure.

2. Prince De Vega (No.1) — $3.70 / $1.65 🏆 4TH
Bet Tracked
Prob 21.2% | Place: 69.0% | Value: 0.98x
Why A real chance — but at $1.65 the place the numbers don't give me enough edge to insure with. Watching, not betting.

3. Pearl Pendant (No.9) — $6.50 / $2.40 🏆 WINNER
Bet Tracked
Prob 14.5% | Place: 46.6% | Value: 1.18x

Roughie: Phoenix Power (No.5) — $9.50 / $2.80 🏆 UNPLACED

Prob 10.1% | Place: 40.3% | Value: 1.27x

✗ MISS -$12 Final

Race type: Benchmark 66, 1615m
Map & tempo: Genuine pace, which usually means the race gets tested properly and the ones who can sustain win.
Punty read:
Gemtiki is the favourite for a reason, but on a track that's Soft and getting late-day temperamental, I love Ready And Lucky for value and Kurithea for the "proper race run" approach. The key here is whether the tempo stays honest. If it does, you want horses that can actually handle pressure over the longer run.

Creative Righteous is in the mix too, especially if they find a handy spot and don't get trapped by the early speed.

Top 3 + Roughie ($12.50 pool)

1. Gemtiki (No.8) — $2.65 / $1.40 🏆 4TH
Bet $7.50 Win — ✗ Lost, net -$7.50
Prob 21.0% | Place: 67.0% | Value: 0.68x
Why Real chance if the pace scenario suits, and Soft 5 stamina tends to favour the ones who can keep their rhythm.

2. Ready And Lucky (No.7) — $6.50 / $2.25 🏆 UNPLACED
Bet $5.00 Place — ✗ Lost, net -$5.00
Prob 17.9% | Place: 60.4% | Value: 1.48x
Why Value profile for the place side, and if they keep going, she should stay in the fight to the line.

3. Kurithea (No.9) — $5.50 / $2.15 🏆 3RD
Bet Tracked
Prob 16.1% | Place: 55.0% | Value: 1.12x
Why Handles this setup and can run into the finish if the leaders start to split.

Roughie: He's A Copy Boy (No.2) — $12.00 / $3.40 🏆 UNPLACED
Bet Tracked
Prob 6.5% | Place: 23.4% | Value: 1.08x
Why Needs the pace to help, and he's got the type of finish that can earn a cheeky minor placing if things go sideways early.

Ellofadude is the on-pace answer. At this distance, when they go, you want to be the one who gets to keep that advantage into the straight. Purple Rose is the obvious challenger from the front running lane, and Roses Imminente can press through the middle stages too.

Grassburn is the one for the "keep an eye on me, I'm coming" angle, but the winning scenario screams for Ellofadude first, then Purple Rose to keep it honest.

Top 3 + Roughie ($10.50 pool)

Punty's Early Mail

Rightio Loose Units, Taree on a Soft 5, rail +3.5m entire, with the heavens looking like they might get ideas later. Let's go chase a few winners and pretend we don't care about the quaddie stress.

MEET SNAPSHOT

Track: Taree, 1008m-1615m card
Rail: +3.5m Entire
Official going: Soft 5 (expected to play Best for on-pace runners with closing room)
Weather: Shower or two, 19°C, humidity 75%, wind 13km/h E (watch for rain risk 55%+ around late morning into the first half of the program)
Early lane guess: Pace pressure, inside runners hold up early, then the sweep starts wide when it gets properly tacky.
Jockeys to follow:
Ben Looker: rides like he's allergic to losing late, and he's landing on horses that can actually find positions.
Ms Olivia Chambers: gets them moving early and keeps momentum, perfect for a Soft 5 where races are often won by getting first run.
Andrew Gibbons: when he's on, he helps turn "run off the track" into "grab a cheeky win", especially in the mid-range.
Stables to respect:
K A Lees (6 runners): attacking this style, you can feel the intent in the way they keep backing horses into winnable spots.
Lou Mary (2 runners): their runners do the right things when the track is slow, and they tend to have a plan for position.
Jay Hopkins (2 runners): in Soft conditions, their timing with gear and runs usually lines up for place money at the very least.

Punty's take:

Soft 5 at Taree is like that mate who shows up late to the party and still expects you to offer them your seat. Early on, the speed is king, but once the track really gets chewing, the finish turns into a grappling match. If you sit too far back you'll still get involved, but you'll be doing it the hard way.

From the program shape, the races that matter most are the ones with clear pace maps and horses that can either lead or sit right on that first pressure. That means I'm not just hunting short prices, I'm hunting the ones that match the track. Tasman Deel in Race 1, Tiggsy in Race 2, Ellofadude in Race 7, those are the three "if you blink you'll miss it" anchors.

And yeah, I'm throwing in a couple of roughies because Soft 5 decks builders love chaos. You want the dividends, you need the stories, not just the favourites standing there like they're in a documentary.

What it means for you:

Bet with your eyes. For this track, on-pace horses that can hold the rail (or at least hold a line) are the safest. The "sweepers" can still win, but they need everything to go their way, and rain later in the day makes the race more chaotic than people think.

My main game plan is to be aggressive with the Big 3 spine in the races where they map best, then protect by taking the place when the price is too good to ignore. After that, I'll sprinkle roughies that have a legitimate route into the finish, not just the ones with big odds and vibes.

Also, if the rain comes and the track deepens, keep an eye on horses with solid sectionals and gear that helps them manage the wet. In this program, that is where the "snag and run" moments usually live.
