✗ MISS -$10 Final

Race type: BENCHMARK 58, 2220m
Map & tempo: Slow pace, on-pace presence needs to keep rolling late, backmarkers need luck
Punty read: This is your classic Grafton staying race where the speed might be cautious, but the finish is where it gets decided. Lone Star Dream has the cleanest path, sitting close enough to take advantage when others are stuck doing the "please find me" dance. Woodland Wonder is live, it's capable of getting into the money if the race doesn't sprint away too soon, and Bolero needs the right setup because it's more "in the race if timing's perfect".

Top 3 + Roughie ($10.50 pool)

1. Lone Star Dream (No.4) — $2.85 / $1.25 🏆 UNPLACED
Bet $10.50 Win — ✗ Lost, net -$10.50
Prob 32.2% | Place: 70.0% | Value: 1.18x
Why Drawn to be handy, strong late-looking profile, and the form has excuses that make sense.

2. Woodland Wonder (No.5) — $3.50 / $1.40 🏆 3RD
Bet Tracked
Prob 22.2% | Place: 50.7% | Value: 0.99x
Why A real chance — but at $1.40 the place the numbers don't give me enough edge to insure with. Watching, not betting.

3. Bolero (No.6) — $4.60 / $1.62 🏆 2ND
Bet Tracked
Prob 12.3% | Place: 46.1% | Value: 0.72x
Why Better as a sneaky trifecta piece if the race opens, but win at this price feels asking.

Roughie: Maurita (No.7) — $17.00 / $3.40 🏆 UNPLACED
Bet Tracked
Prob 5.2% | Place: 22.5% | Value: 1.13x
Why It's got a wink-wink chance if the speed collapses, but it's more "value with chaos" than a core play.

✗ MISS -$15 Final

Race type: MAIDEN PLATE, 1006m
Map & tempo: Hot tempo, leaders press, you need to be near the action
Punty read: This sprint is all about who handles the first two hundred metres without getting emotionally wrecked. Denny Cee looks like the one to bank early with the shorter price and the ability to be in the hunt. Dream Invader and Harvey's Turn are both there to give the field something to chase, and if the pace is real, Parting The Seas can still run into the end. The trick is, in maidens, the win can be chaotic, so you want your bets attached to horses that can sit close and then keep finding.

Top 3 + Roughie ($15.00 pool)

1. Denny Cee (No.9) — $2.70 / $1.40 🏆 UNPLACED
Bet $15.00 Win — ✗ Lost, net -$15.00
Prob 26.4% | Place: 61.5% | Value: 0.92x
Why Sharp gate for a sprint, and it fits a race where the first three tend to sort themselves quickly.

2. Dream Invader (No.1) — $3.90 / $1.70 🏆 UNPLACED
Bet Tracked
Prob 18.5% | Place: 53.6% | Value: 0.62x
Why A real chance — but at $1.70 the place the numbers don't give me enough edge to insure with. Watching, not betting.

3. Harvey's Turn (No.4) — $5.50 / $2.10 🏆 WINNER
Bet Tracked
Prob 15.8% | Place: 46.1% | Value: 0.74x

Roughie: Parting The Seas (No.5) — $11.00 / $3.20 🏆 4TH
Bet Tracked
Prob 6.4% | Place: 28.0% | Value: 0.91x

✓ WON +$33 Final

Race type: MAIDEN PLATE, 1410m
Map & tempo: Slow pace, position matters at the turn, finishing burst wins races
Punty read: This is a middle distance maiden where the winner usually has two gears, either it's got a mid-race switch or a strong late sprint. Crazy Eights is set up for that sort of run, and it's the sort of horse that can keep improving with clear running. Steady On has the look of a genuine place contender, and La Regina has the class to come into the frame if the race doesn't get too strung out. The danger in these races is thinking one-dimensional horses can win. This meeting, that's where punters overthink.

Top 3 + Roughie ($11.00 pool)

1. Crazy Eights (No.10) — $2.65 / $1.37 SCR
Bet Tracked — ⊘ Scratched · bet voided
Prob 26.1% | Place: 70.0% | Value: 1.25x
Why It's got the profile to jump up and do the job late, and the price says people are respecting the finishing strength.

2. Steady On (No.6) — $4.00 / $1.65 🏆 WINNER
Bet $11.00 Win — ✓ Won, net +$33.00
Prob 22.4% | Place: 61.5% | Value: 1.18x

✗ MISS -$10 Final

Race type: BENCHMARK 66, 1106m
Map & tempo: Moderate pace, faster leaders, it's short and punchy, positions matter fast
Punty read: This is a sprint where the field basically decides itself before anyone gets to chew on their popcorn. Highland Force looks like the main speed, and it's hard to ignore when the map supports that lead pressure. Humphree Bear is the value on the place side because it can run a strong middle and then keep working. Patrioticintention is another on-pace type that can take advantage if the leaders start sprinting too hard too early. Dune And Dusted is the one I watch for the "wrong turn, still wins" story, but you'll need it to roll forward and not get swallowed.

Top 3 + Roughie ($10.50 pool)

Bet $10.50 Win — ✗ Lost, net -$10.50
Prob 22.8% | Place: 58.5% | Value: 0.81x

✓ WON +$28 Final

Race type: MAIDEN PLATE, 1175m
Map & tempo: Moderate pace, winners often come from those who can sustain the run, not just flash early
Punty read: This maiden looks like it will be decided by who can hold position and keep moving on. Scrambling is the one I want on the win side because it has the profile for a proper staying sprint, and it's the sort of horse that can travel then decide the race in the last section. Jennibelle is the dangerous one as a consistent on-pace type, and Who Loves A Harley is a classic "if it gets a run, it kicks" style runner. No Sound is there for the roughie path, but it needs timing and luck, like most roughies at this level.

Top 3 + Roughie ($15.00 pool)

1. Scrambling (No.14) — $2.85 / $1.45 🏆 WINNER
Bet $15.00 Win — ✓ Won, net +$27.75

✗ MISS -$10 Final

Race type: CLASS 2 HANDICAP, 1181m
Map & tempo: Moderate pace, speed advantage matters, on-pace horses have the edge
Punty read: This is built for the leaders and the stalkers who keep the pressure on. Why Wait has the look of a horse who can control the rhythm or at least sit in the right pocket and pounce. Hard As Brok is the danger as it's also up there and could run a big race if the tempo stays honest. Copenhagen Cat is the sort that can plug into the finish, and City Of Tears is in the mix if it finds clear air. The rest are more hope than plan.

✗ MISS -$2 Final

Race type: CLASS 2 HANDICAP, 1610m
Map & tempo: Slow pace, long sprint, you need cover and the right late run
Punty read: This is a test of patience. In slow tempo races, the wrong horse gets bottled up, and then suddenly you're chasing gaps like they owe you money. Valouri looks like the best mix of consistent form and the ability to be in the right spot when the field comes under pressure. Herald Angel is the kind of runner that keeps grinding, and She's A Dame is the dangerous "sits in range, finishes strong" type. Tara Koda is the wildcard roughie, and those are always the ones you swear at the bar when they go past your mates after you've held your breath.

✗ MISS -$7 Final

Race type: BENCHMARK 58, 1410m
Map & tempo: Moderate pace, lots of mid-pack pressure, a few runners have every chance with the breaks
Punty read: This is the sort of race where you can't just back the first name you see. Doingiteasy and Sunset Trail are the on-pace types who can keep the pressure on, which suits their finishing chances. Vendemmia can be there if it finds the right spot, but you're backing a run in running rather than an automatic path. Stern Dispute is the roughie spark because it's got enough tactical flexibility to hit the line if the tempo stays contested. It's open, so you're either covering or you're gambling with confidence, and I'm doing the former in the sequences.

Top 3 + Roughie ($7.00 pool)

Punty's Early Mail

Rightio Loose Units, Grafton on a Good 4 with the rail +3m, and that sky doing its usual "maybe rain, maybe drama" routine. If the track stays true, this is one of those meetings where the on-pace blokes get to collect, and the wide-day heroes get punished unless they've got timing.

I've got the card split into two moods. Early on, we're chasing runners who can hold their ground in a slow grind, then later it turns into full noise, sprinting off the turns, and the betting gets tempted to go chasing names instead of race shapes. Translation, if you're going to get loose, get loose with a plan, not vibes.

Today's spine is simple, my Big 3 are the sort you want in your quaddie calculations, they line up with how the races should actually run. And if one of them blunders, you still want the rest there to keep your ticket alive like it's in a Marvel sequel.

MEET SNAPSHOT

Track: Good 4, 900-1500m (mixed) card
Rail: +3m entire
Official going: Good 4 (expected to play fair to on-pace, with a rail that keeps saving runs)
Weather: Fine, light rain risk through the day, watch for quick shifts (watch for morning and midday showers)
Early lane guess: Start by respecting on-pace lanes, then widen your mindset in the open events
Tempo profile: Several races look slow to moderate, then we get to the middle distance and it turns into position and sprint off the corner
Jockeys to follow:
Ms Jett Newman: Loves the Grafton rhythm, and today she has horses that map to be prominent when the race gets cut up.
Ben Looker: Shows up where it counts, and when he's on, you can expect a proper go at the line.
Archie McColm: Timing and finishing, especially when the speed is real and the race stays honest.
Stables to respect:
Allan Kehoe (2 runners): They're not hiding, when their horses show gate speed they tend to give you a proper contest.
Sally Taylor (2 runners): Quiet confidence type work, and when the market moves with them, it's usually for a reason.
J D Shelton (2 runners): Picks a lane, then commits. If your horse is right for the conditions, they'll make sure it goes bang.

Punty's take:

Grafton this meeting is all about the rail and the grind. With the +3m, you can win from a good trip without needing to be a superhero. That said, when the pace collapses, you'll still see swoopers swoop, but they need cover and a clean run, because the straight isn't a free buffet.

The other thing I'm watching is market intent versus excuses. In the early stayers, the top pick isn't just "fast on paper", it's drawn where it can sit in range, and it has actual excuses that give you a logical bounce back. Later, in the maidens and C2 races, the winners are the ones who line up with the speed map, not the ones who just have the flashiest prior run.

And yes, the rain risk is real enough that you keep your eye on the clock and the track update. If the surface firms up, we back speed. If it softens, we give the place options extra respect, because they're often the "get home anyway" route.

What it means for you:

My game plan is aggressive early with the right style of horse. In Race 1, I'm backing the market leader because the shape says it should hold the line, and I don't trust the late drifting for value when the pace is slow and saves are king.

Then I'm leaning into the "place leverage" in the stronger C2 and maiden races, because that's where you'll get the run off the trip without having to win. Roughies today are for entertainment only unless the pace scenario makes them dangerous, and in two spots it does.

If you're looking for a strategy, go this way: anchor with the Big 3 multi spine, then build your Quaddie lane blocks using the pre-built widths. Don't get greedy in the open races unless you're paying for enough coverage. Grafton will punish under-covered tickets like a nightclub bouncer with a grudge.
