Punty's Punts
Race type: Maiden Plate, 1100m
Map & tempo: Genuine pace, leaders go, no slow boat nonsense
Punty read: Alpha Mensae looks like she wants the front and Around The Marx is drawn out for the perfect "get involved" trip if the field strings out. That said, this is a sprint, and if the speed is genuine, the line arrives quicker than punters expect. The Shyster is the main danger because she's short enough to suggest she's got the right momentum and the right position to peel off and hit the line running. Court Jester can sit closer than his backmarker label, and Rentier is the kind of first-timer-on-gear who's either going to run on hard or make you yell "get there!" at the wrong time. Either way, she's worth watching.
Top 3 + Roughie ($15.00 pool)
1. The Shyster (No.8) — $2.40 / $1.35 🏆 WINNER
Bet $15.00 Win — ✓ Won, net +$21.00
Prob 29.9% | Place: 70.0% | Value: 0.92x
Why Short price for a reason in a sprint that suits a horse who can hit the line clean, and she's built for that fast-approach finish.
2. Rentier (No.7) — $5.50 / $2.05 🏆 3RD
Bet Tracked
Prob 14.1% | Place: 46.1% | Value: 1.00x
Why A real chance — but at $2.05 the place the numbers don't give me enough edge to insure with. Watching, not betting.
3. Court Jester (No.4) — $8.50 / $2.70 🏆 4TH
Bet Tracked
Prob 13.4% | Place: 32.7% | Value: 1.42x
Why When wide-ish speed pressure shows, this type can pounce late, and the price is tasty relative to what she's capable of.
Roughie: Firm'n'high (No.11) — $9.50 / $2.90 🏆 UNPLACED
Bet Tracked
Prob 8.4% | Place: 32.7% | Value: 0.66x
Why If she's not part of the finish, she's not part of the story, so you keep the stake focused.
Race type: Maiden Plate, 1100m
Map & tempo: Moderate pace, lots of runners can get involved early
Punty read: Bee Admired is the key character here. She's drawn so she should get a realistic trip, and at this level, that matters more than people want to admit. Fully Funded has the look of a horse that can grind in the pocket and get a clear lane. Snitzel Tycoon is the sort who can pop up if the speed holds on just a fraction too long. Princess Geisha is the "don't ignore it" roughie at a price, but you'd better believe she needs the exact kind of chaos to crack open the race.
Top 3 + Roughie ($15.00 pool)
1. Bee Admired (No.2) — $3.40 / $1.60 SCR
Bet Tracked — ⊘ Scratched · bet voided
Prob 27.7% | Place: 59.0% | Value: 1.02x
Why Perfect "sit in range then keep coming" profile, and the market has her earmarked as the one who can stick the landing.
2. Fully Funded (No.6) — $5.00 / $2.00 🏆 4TH
Bet $15.00 Win — ✗ Lost, net -$15.00
Prob 17.9% | Place: 46.1% | Value: 1.05x

Prob 10.7% | Place: 34.1% | Value: 0.69x

Roughie: Princess Geisha (No.13) — $11.00 / $3.40 SCR
Bet Tracked
Prob 6.6% | Place: 25.3% | Value: 1.02x
Why Needs things to fall into place, but if the lane opens late, she can surge at a price.
Race type: Maiden Plate, 1600m
Map & tempo: Moderate pace, longer run to sort the wheat from the chaff
Punty read: Vespasian maps like the sort who can sit on the right spot early and then kick into the straight with purpose. Sunday Vendetta is the danger for anyone who underestimates the back-marker types, because 1600m gives them time to wind up. Thinkimacelebrity looks like a contender for the exact same reason, but she's more "show up and run a cheeky race" than "lead from the front and bully you." Challenging is the roughie, and he can absolutely make it interesting if he gets a clean swing at the finish.
Top 3 + Roughie ($13.00 pool)
1. Vespasian (No.7) — $2.55 / $1.40 🏆 4TH
Bet $13.00 Win — ✗ Lost, net -$13.00
Prob 25.6% | Place: 70.0% | Value: 0.74x
Why On pace profile and a shape that suits building speed late, plus she's got the kind of credentials that survive Maiden pressure.
2. Sunday Vendetta (No.5) — $5.00 / $2.00 SCR
Bet Tracked
Prob 16.1% | Place: 46.1% | Value: 1.24x

Roughie: Challenging (No.1) — $17.00 / $4.00 SCR
Bet Tracked
Prob 4.8% | Place: 24.1% | Value: 1.06x
Why If the race steadies and the wide run becomes a sprint, he can clunk into the finish.
Race type: Class 1 Handicap, 1450m
Map & tempo: Genuine pace, leaders pressed early
Punty read: Baganov is the horse you want when the map says speed is real. He's positioned to lead or at least take the initiative, and in a class 1 handicap at 1450m, controlling that middle portion is half the fight. Mahmudah and Strongside bring the pressure from the right spots, but if the leader gets a decent run at them, they've got to win the sprint too, not just be there. Monsun's Pride is the one roughie play because if they get strung out, his finish can be loud enough to upset the more obvious scripts.
Top 3 + Roughie ($13.00 pool)
1. Baganov (No.1) — $2.80 / $1.35 🏆 3RD
Bet $13.00 Win — ✗ Lost, net -$13.00
Prob 34.1% | Place: 70.0% | Value: 1.22x

Roughie: Monsun's Pride (No.4) — $12.00 / $3.00 🏆 UNPLACED
Bet Tracked
Prob 7.2% | Place: 31.6% | Value: 1.11x
Why If the pace locks up and Baganov has to work, Monsun's Pride is the sort who can creep into the gap.
Race type: bet365 Bet Boost (Bm56), 1450m
Map & tempo: Moderate tempo, track wants positioning and balance
Punty read: Pomah is the anchor. In BM grade over 1450m, the horses that can race in a rhythm and keep travelling through the middle are the ones that cash. Queen Amanjena is a big threat because she's been doing enough to suggest she can get that run to the line. Spex is there too, but she's the type who needs everything to go right. No Overtaking is the roughie, and it's a classic "if the speed falls apart, she's got a shot" kind of play.
Top 3 + Roughie ($13.00 pool)

Why Needs a full pace collapse and a miracle lane, roughie script only.
Race type: bet365 Tatura Cup Sat Nov 21 (Bm56), 1450m
Map & tempo: Moderate pace, battlers in the middle, finish is the test
Punty read: Rich King is the favourite, and it's hard to argue. He's on pace and the race shape gives him a proper chance to hit the line like he means it. Hell's Itch is the other logical threat, and Savethebesttillast is the value-ish swing because she profiles as a horse that can wind up late when others are spent. Annotate is in there too, but he's more of a "if the race doesn't go too hard too early" type. If the tempo drops, the back half can get nasty fast.
Top 3 + Roughie ($11.00 pool)
1. Rich King (No.2) — $3.40 / $1.60 SCR
Bet Tracked — ⊘ Scratched · bet voided
Prob 20.6% | Place: 53.9% | Value: 1.00x
Why On pace and into a scenario where the middle of the race doesn't bully him, he's got the cleanest path.

Bet $11.00 Win — ✗ Lost, net -$11.00
Prob 12.8% | Place: 46.1% | Value: 1.01x

Why A real chance — but at $3.00 the place the numbers don't give me enough edge to insure with. Watching, not betting.
Race type: Carlton Draught (Bm56), 1100m
Map & tempo: Genuine pace, so you need the right early rhythm
Punty read: This one's built for horses that can keep switching lanes without getting stuck in traffic. Sugar Schnapps is the obvious speed storyline, and Asmita can land midfield and then go again in the straight. Lujaego is the sneaky one who can run on hard if the early speed is legit but not lethal. Imminance is the roughie because he can sneak into that midfield gap and suddenly look like the winner if the leaders stop a touch early.
Top 3 + Roughie ($10.50 pool)
1. Asmita (No.8) — $3.30 / $1.57 🏆 4TH
Bet $10.50 Win — ✗ Lost, net -$10.50
Prob 21.2% | Place: 51.9% | Value: 0.91x
Why Maps well enough to get into the race, and if the rail ride isn't a trap, she can hold her position through the finish.
2. Sugar Schnapps (No.4) — $6.00 / $2.25 🏆 2ND
Bet Tracked
Prob 18.8% | Place: 38.9% | Value: 1.46x

Bet Tracked
Prob 16.4% | Place: 46.1% | Value: 1.17x
Why Can run on and hit the line, but not quite the edge to play as a win.
Roughie: Imminance (No.9) — $12.00 / $3.50 SCR
Bet Tracked
Prob 6.8% | Place: 27.8% | Value: 1.06x
Why Needs the race to break up and to get a lane, but he can still plug into the finish if they scramble.
Race type: Monfoods (Bm56), 1000m
Map & tempo: Hot pace, leaders trade blows, finish is ruthless
Punty read: Cumboogle looks like the type to give the race a real jolt early. Bella Cinque is the obvious other map threat, and Flying Mean is the kind of horse that can explode late if the speed holds together long enough to create a proper run. Noble Style is a wildcard if he's given the right pocket, because he can be dangerous when the race shapes like a runway. This is one of those sprints where "staying wide and running fast" can beat "best intention and a diary full of excuses."
Top 3 + Roughie ($6.00 pool)
1. Cumboogle (No.1) — $4.80 / $1.95 🏆 UNPLACED
Bet $6.00 Each Way ($3.00W + $3.00P) — ✗ Lost, net -$6.00
Prob 17.6% | Place: 46.1% | Value: 1.31x
Why Leads the race rhythm and has the speed to keep travelling, plus each-way gives you cover if it turns into a grind.
2. Bella Cinque (No.3) — $4.60 / $1.90 SCR
Bet Tracked
Prob 15.6% | Place: 43.7% | Value: 1.12x
Why The top pick's each-way already covers the place angle here — doubling up is paying twice for the same insurance. Tracked instead.
3. Flying Mean (No.15) — $6.50 / $2.40 🏆 UNPLACED
Bet Tracked
Prob 12.1% | Place: 37.9% | Value: 1.22x

Punty's Early Mail
Rightio Loose Units, Tatura on Good 4 with the rail true entire circuit, this is the sort of day where you want speed to be real and excuses to be rare. No rain, just fine weather and a bit of gusty mischief, so the horses that can hold their ground early and keep grinding through the line are the ones who'll make you look like a genius at the bar.
Today's card is split personalities. Early doors, Race 1 is chalky but there's one proper "why is it so short?" vibe about it. Then we move into a run of Maiden and low-grade races where the maps matter like a GPS with a mate riding shotgun. By the time we hit the feature-ish middle stuff, it's all about who gets the right spot, who uses it, and who doesn't get trapped in the wrong lane like you're stuck behind a mate in a ute doing 60 on the freeway.
If you wanna play smart and still have fun, the spine is simple. Big 3 gets you the backbone, then you add the roughies like seasoning. Not enough and your meal tastes bland, too much and you'll be chewing cardboard on the way home.
MEET SNAPSHOT
Track: Tatura, sprint to middle range 1000m to 1600m card
Rail: True Entire Circuit
Official going: Good 4 (expected to play fast, "hold-up-free" running)
Weather: Fine, watch for mild gusts that can lift a few horses in the early stages and make sectionals feel a bit hotter than usual
Early lane guess: Generally, the inside is kind, but at Tatura the ability to travel matters, you can't just park in the fence and hope.
Tempo profile: Genuine to moderate early, with a couple races where leaders take a grip and it turns into a "one length too far" kind of finish.
Jockeys to follow:
Zac Moore: He's around the mark a lot, and when he lands in the right spot he's got the throttle control to let the horse finish.
Lachlan King: Strong on horses that can sit handy, and he's good at turning "almost in front" into "in front enough".
Jackson Radley: Knows how to stalk without burning the horse early, the sort of rider who saves one for the last 100m.
Stables to respect:
Nick Ryan (5 runners): He keeps finding horses that go through the line, and when he has a short price it's usually got a plan behind it.
Ben, Will & Jd Hayes (3 runners): They back their runners, gear and tactics look like they're chosen for a reason, especially in the middle distances.
P G Moody & Katherine Coleman (3 runners): When they go to first-time gear, it often isn't there for decoration. Watch how those runners move in the yard.
Punty's take:
Tatura on Good 4, rail true, no rain, means the favs should get every chance. The danger is when the map gets messy and a horse that should land in range ends up three wide for a lap like it's starring in a Fast and the Furious cameo. So, I'm leaning into races where the pace shape lines up with the horse styles.
Race 1 is where I'm starting the day with a live wire. The Shyster has the right run at this sort of level and the price being short tells me the market expects her to be in the right area early. Rentier and Court Jester are the exact sort that can slot into that "hold position then run on" script if the speed is genuine, which it should be.
Then we go into Race 2 and it's a proper Maiden maze. Bee Admired looks like the one that can do the job from the right kind of trip, while Fully Funded and Snitzel Tycoon are more "if they get a clear lane late, they're dangerous" types. I'm not going broke backing everyone, but I'll still have eyes on those lanes.
What it means for you:
Go aggressive where the maps are clean and the top picks are anchored. If you're putting money down early in this meeting, don't do it scattergun, do it with intent, especially in the races where leaders genuinely go early and the rail is holding up.
Where I'm protecting you is the opposite. In the races where the pace is crowded or where runners have excuses to carry, you don't chase them like a lost Pokémon. You take the place-side and you let the one that's got the clearest path through the race do the heavy lifting.
And yeah, there are roughies today. They're there for the exact reason you lot love, a price that looks wrong until the speed collapses or the lane appears like a Batman rooftop escape. Just don't treat roughies like lottery tickets. They're track logic, not vibes.
