✗ MISS -$15 Final

Race type: MAIDEN, 1200m
Map & tempo: Slow-ish pace, on-pace tends to get the kiss and the win if they're sharp out of the gates
Punty read: Energetic (No.2) is the obvious puppet on the string here, speed profile is doing the heavy lifting, and the excuses for the others are too consistent to ignore. Sovereign Crust is sitting in that "danger if the leaders get cosy" lane, while Paul Party looks like the classic holding-up-the-bridesmaid who can grab a spot if they go too hard early. I'm not loving the ones doing extra work chasing from the midfield unless they get an opening, which at 1200m is about as reliable as a mate changing plans last minute.

Top 3 + Roughie ($15.00 pool)

1. Energetic (No.2) — $2.55 / $1.25 🏆 4TH
Bet $15.00 Win — ✗ Lost, net -$15.00
Prob 24.7% | Place: 69.0% | Value: 0.75x
Why Pace map says he's where the race decides it, and with this tempo, being on the go early is everything.

2. Sovereign Crust (No.6) — $3.90 / $1.57 🏆 WINNER
Bet Tracked
Prob 21.5% | Place: 69.0% | Value: 1.02x
Why A real chance — but at $1.57 the place the numbers don't give me enough edge to insure with. Watching, not betting.

3. Paul Party (No.8) — $8.00 / $2.35 🏆 UNPLACED
Bet Tracked
Prob 10.3% | Place: 41.3% | Value: 1.31x
Why A real chance — but at $2.35 the place the numbers don't give me enough edge to insure with. Watching, not betting.

Roughie: Shimari (No.5) — $12.00 / $3.00 🏆 3RD
Bet Tracked
Prob 8.2% | Place: 34.1% | Value: 1.33x
Why The value angle is real, but she needs everything to go her way in a maiden, and I'm not letting my stake do that dance.

✗ MISS -$9 Final

Race type: MAIDEN, 1617m
Map & tempo: Slow tempo, long enough for class to show but short enough for mistakes to still matter
Punty read: Billy The Boss is the one I trust to keep finding something, even if they bunch up early. Pembeton and Prince Of Bondi have shown enough to threaten, but maiden races over this sort of trip are built on who gets the smooth run and who doesn't get trapped behind tired horses. Racy Rascal is the type who could pop late, but she's a better "if the pace breaks" play than a "stand up and win" job.

Top 3 + Roughie ($9.40 pool)

1. Billy The Boss (No.3) — $3.80 / $1.50 🏆 4TH
Bet $9.40 Win — ✗ Lost, net -$9.40
Prob 26.5% | Place: 36.6% | Value: 1.34x
Why This is the right mix of competitiveness and trip, and the market's not treating him like a throwaway.

2. Pembeton (No.2) — $3.90 / $1.95 🏆 WINNER
Bet Tracked
Prob 20.5% | Place: 29.1% | Value: 1.27x
Why Only two places paid in a field this size, and skinny place divvies make savers a mug's game — this is a win-only race. Tracked, not staked.

3. Prince Of Bondi (No.1) — $4.20 / $2.05 🏆 3RD
Bet Tracked
Prob 15.2% | Place: 23.4% | Value: 0.69x
Why Short field, two places, thin divvies — the pool stays on the two bets that earn it. He's on the watch list.

Roughie: Racy Rascal (No.5) — $13.00 / $2.85 🏆 2ND
Bet Tracked
Prob 10.3% | Place: 17.3% | Value: 1.24x
Why Big late punch potential, but she needs the race shape to hand her running room.

✓ WON +$36 Final

Race type: HANDICAP (C2), 1617m
Map & tempo: Slow pace, so you want a horse that can travel and then switch on late
Punty read: Lord Momo is my pick because he looks made for exactly this. Slow tempo handicaps are where the "stays in the game" types get rewarded, and he's got the right profile to hit the line strongly. Lanta is the on-pace type and can absolutely take the race with him, but the whole thing smells like one of those finishes where the leaders get gobbled up by the smarter run. Royal Guardian is live too, but I prefer to let the each-way value do the work.

Top 3 + Roughie ($10.50 pool)

1. Lord Momo (No.5) — $6.50 / $2.40 🏆 WINNER
Bet $10.50 Each Way ($5.25W + $5.25P) — ✓ Won, net +$36.23
Prob 18.4% | Place: 48.8% | Value: 1.53x
Why This is the "slow grind, then pounce" handicapping play, and the place money feels like the safety net you actually want.

2. Royal Guardian (No.2) — $2.60 / $1.35 🏆 UNPLACED
Bet Tracked
Prob 20.6% | Place: 69.0% | Value: 0.57x
Why The top pick's each-way already covers the place angle here — doubling up is paying twice for the same insurance. Tracked instead.

3. Lanta (No.4) — $5.70 / $2.10 🏆 2ND
Bet Tracked
Prob 17.2% | Place: 61.2% | Value: 1.19x

Prob 8.2% | Place: 34.1% | Value: 1.18x

✗ MISS -$13 Final

Race type: HANDICAP (C2), 1300m
Map & tempo: Moderate pace with multiple threats up front, chaos potential in the middle stages
Punty read: Midnight Star is the main event for me. In a race like this, you want a horse that can put itself in the race early and not get bullied when the pressure starts. Whatyoutalkinbout looks like the leader-stalker type and can absolutely run the race of her life at this trip, while Couldabeenahandbag is the roughie option if they bunch up and the inside gives a false sense of security. Blood Brother has the "bounced into form" look, but first-up angles can be a trap if they come up empty.

Top 3 + Roughie ($13.00 pool)

1. Midnight Star (No.2) — $3.50 / $1.62 🏆 UNPLACED
Bet $13.00 Win — ✗ Lost, net -$13.00
Prob 22.2% | Place: 66.5% | Value: 1.24x
Why Market's backing the right story, and the pace situation suits him, he can sit close and pounce at the right time.

2. Whatyoutalkinbout (No.4) — $5.20 / $2.00 🏆 3RD
Bet Tracked
Prob 16.2% | Place: 63.5% | Value: 1.04x

✗ MISS -$13 Final

Race type: Open sprint, 1300m
Map & tempo: Genuine pace on, so you need a horse with a real engine and the ability to keep cruising late
Punty read: Dont Wait For Luck is my win play, because this race shape suits him, and the form supports a genuine crack. Close At Hand is the classic danger, gets the right run and has the class to take advantage when the leaders start to tire. Science Degree is sitting there like the quiet assassin, but I'm not getting too cute with him as the main bet. Boab Boy is the roughie type if the race goes from quick to fast and someone loses the plot.

Top 3 + Roughie ($13.00 pool)

1. Dont Wait For Luck (No.1) — $4.30 / $1.72 🏆 UNPLACED
Bet $13.00 Win — ✗ Lost, net -$13.00
Prob 22.3% | Place: 69.0% | Value: 1.13x
Why He's built for this sprint grind, and if he's in the right spot early, he's hard to peg back.

2. Close At Hand (No.2) — $5.10 / $1.82 🏆 2ND
Bet Tracked
Prob 19.8% | Place: 66.3% | Value: 1.21x

Roughie: Boab Boy (No.3) — $8.95 / $2.65 🏆 UNPLACED

Blue Spec Drilling Boulder Cup
2125m · Open; · 18:20
✗ MISS -$8 Final

Race type: Open, 2125m
Map & tempo: Slow pace over a long trip, the race turns into tactics and positioning for the last chunk
Punty read: Opportunistic is my main man, and the reason is simple. In slow, long-distance cups, horses like him can sit outside the trouble and then use a finish, instead of being cooked by the pace early. Lillian is the next best, but she's a touch shorter and can get swallowed if the race turns into a straight-out fight. The Jester's Son is a big value-looking type, but he's safer as an upset runner than the main bet. Ginger Baker is the roughie, she's never been frightened of hard work, but long odds for a reason.

Top 3 + Roughie ($7.50 pool)

1. Opportunistic (No.2) — $1.72 / $1.09 🏆 2ND
Bet $7.50 Win — ✗ Lost, net -$7.50
Prob 34.1% | Place: 69.0% | Value: 0.79x
Why He's got the best race shape, and when the pace is slow, the horse who can balance and finish is king.

2. The Jester's Son (No.11) — $5.00 / $1.70 🏆 WINNER
Bet Tracked
Prob 16.5% | Place: 61.3% | Value: 1.55x

Roughie: Ginger Baker (No.1) — $9.00 / $2.45 🏆 6TH
Bet Tracked
Prob 10.3% | Place: 40.7% | Value: 1.21x

✗ MISS -$15 Final

Race type: HANDICAP, 1400m
Map & tempo: Moderate pace, so this becomes a battle of who sits smart and who keeps working late
Punty read: This is an open handicap and the money's split across a bunch of chances, so you look for the ones with the cleanest route to the line. Spangledstar is my roughie guard simply because she has the right profile to hit the placings and maybe more if the race breaks open. Kelora sits closer to the pace, and Lendanear is right in the mix too, but Scottish Laird is the wildcard because he can be stuck with bad luck from the wrong part of the track, then suddenly launch if they misjudge him.

Top 3 + Roughie ($15.00 pool)

1. Spangledstar (No.5) — $8.70 / $3.00 🏆 UNPLACED
Bet $15.00 Each Way ($7.50W + $7.50P) — ✗ Lost, net -$15.00
Prob 14.3% | Place: 47.0% | Value: 1.49x
Why She's got the upside for a wide-open finish, and visors first time can sharpen her focus.

2. Kelora (No.3) — $4.90 / $1.95 🏆 UNPLACED
Bet Tracked
Prob 12.2% | Place: 47.0% | Value: 0.87x

Punty's Early Mail

Rightio Loose Units, Kalgoorlie on a Good 4 with the rail true-ish (+4m Entire) and the sun doing the full send. This is one of those meetings where the inside rail chat matters, but the main character is pace, and everyone else is just along for the ride.

MEET SNAPSHOT

Track: Kalgoorlie, 1200m to 2125m range card
Rail: +4m Entire
Official going: Good 4 (expected to play fairly true, hold your ground if you sit right)
Weather: Sunny, 20°C, humidity 38%, wind 16km/h SW, gusts up around 25.9km/h (watch for a bit of extra push in the straight winds)
Early lane guess: Fairly wide open in the lanes early, but if you can get on speed, you can win from anywhere

Tempo profile: Most races are either slow to moderate early, so if you miss the jump you're chasing a Pixar montage into the finish.
Jockeys to follow:
Chris Parnham: rides like he knows where the sprint lane opens up, and he keeps finding the right part of the track
Ms Natika Riordan: sharp when the pace is on offer, and her mounts keep getting involved late
Brayden Gaerth: good hands when the race shape turns into a grind, plus he tends to land closer than the map suggests
Stables to respect:
P J Fernie (2 runners): you see the same silks pop up all over the place, and they generally don't waste their ammunition
N D Parnham (2 runners): usually thereabouts with maidens, and when they bring speed, it's real speed
Brett Drury (2 runners): he knows how to get a horse a run, especially when excuses have been hiding in plain sight

Punty's take:

Kalgoorlie today feels like a 'position is currency' sort of day. With the rail +4m entire, the advantage isn't some magic golden path, it's more like, if you've got the speed and you're not doing extra work, you're in business. The wind being steady-ish means you can get a couple of horses finishing better than they look early, but generally, slower early races let the "on pace" brigade control the script.

Race 4 to Race 7 is where the chaos merchants are earning their keep. That section has a mix of solid market anchors and a couple of horses that can sneak into the trifecta like your mate who 'doesn't tip' but always gets up at the end. I'm building the day around three winners that can all justify their odds without needing a miracle, then I'm sprinkling just enough roughie energy to avoid punting like a robot.

What it means for you:

Be aggressive where the pace maps match the market. When I've picked an on-pace type, I'm thinking "lead or stalk", not "hope for a gap". When I've tagged a rougher, I'm thinking "if the race falls apart and they get running room, they can go from invisible to embarrassing".

Your game plan is simple. Follow the spine (those Big 3), then for each race keep a saver mentality if your pick is a No Bet. Quaddie time, it's wide-open late, so you either play for entertainment or you play with a tighter spine. I'm giving you lanes so you can go in knowing where the risk lives.
