Alright legends, this meeting is built on one big idea. Soft 5 at Randwick, rail +2m, and wind pushing the straight, means you want horses that can keep grinding through the last crack of the whip. The "sit handy and pounce" style has teeth today, especially in the benchmark races where people normally start walking.
Early doors, it's a maiden plate vibe, so it's chaos plus fitness plus whoever got the jump right. Race 1 has a proper look to it, where the favourite of the market is actually the one I want, and the value is in the "prepared, geared, and can sit" crew. Race 2 is where we get sharp, because maidens on soft tracks at Randwick often reward the on-the-speed types with an honest run.
Then we hit the middle races and it's straight-up punting business. Race 5 is place-leverage heaven, Race 6 has a standout that looks mispriced, and Race 7 is a short-priced showdown where the winner should be the one getting first use of the straight, not the one hoping for miracles.
