Rightio Loose Units, Sandown on a Soft 7 with showers brewing, it's gonna be one of those "everyone hits the wall, only a couple clear the ramp" meetings. The rail is out 8m entire circuit, so you're gonna want runners who can still run their race when the track turns into soup and the bunch breathes all over itself.

If you're chasing the vibe: speed matters early because these sprints are honest, then the soft track starts rewarding class and hands in the final 200. I'm building the day around a simple spine, Emperor Tzu to set the tone, Fieldelo to bully them at the business end, and Buccleuch to see it home when the field turns into a spaghetti carbonara.

Punty's take: This card screams "position plus pop". If you're trapped behind tired horses on the turn, you're basically watching Netflix from the fence. On Soft 7 at Sandown, the ones that look like they're going a bit too hard early can still finish it off, because the ground just makes everyone a fraction more honest. Look for the on pace types that jump well, and for the place plays where the map says they should be in the thick of it late.
Also, keep your eyes on gear shifts. When blinkers and the like hit at Sandown, it's usually because the horse has been thinking about things a bit too much in the run. Fix the head, fix the result.

What it means for you: Put your boots on the right lanes. I'm leaning hard on the big three winners across the day, then using top 3 place and each way where the races look crowded but map friendly. In the open races, you're not trying to be a hero, you're trying to be right often.
If you want one punting game plan to follow: attack the clear pace maps in R4 and R6, then protect the chaos with place bets and the tight little lanes in the quaddie races. Exotics only get the green light when the value is actually sitting there waiting like a sausage roll at the birdcage, warm and slightly illegal.

And Aqueduct and Risky Whisky are the two that could jump up and make it ugly early, because on a Soft 7 you want horses that can sustain position, not ones that get stuck doing one speed.

The value play is Regal Ambition for me, because the market is wobbling for a reason, and if he's ready first up, he can absolutely blot out the favourite.

Amenable is a live rough chance too, but it's the pace and the positioning that decides it, not vibes.

If they do all their work early and can't keep a straight line around Sandown's turn, they're done, even if they look great at 200m.

2 - Bet the forward trip, then bet the place when the tempo is honest
Hot or genuine pace races here create a very stable minor finishing order, place bets pay for that sort of predictability.

3 - Watch the "shorties" that need no help
Emperor Tzu and Fieldelo look like they don't need luck to be competitive, which is rare when the track is wet and nasty.
