Rightio Loose Units, Rockhampton on Good 4 with the rails +2.5, it feels like the track is begging for speed to show up early and for everyone else to do that classic thing where they "run on" for about 3 seconds, then run out of gas. Bit of sun, bugger all rain, so this is set up for horses that are actually going to have a crack, not the ones that need a miracle montage to win.
The spine of my day is a Big 3 Multi vibe, then we sprinkle a couple of value landmines in the quaddie lanes (Races 4 to 7) where the chaos pays the bills. Quaddies are tough beasts, but the shapes are right, and when the pace is genuine, you back what you can see, not what you hope.
2 more things before we roll: if you've got a leader with market support, you've got to respect it. And if a horse is shortening in price while its style matches the map, that's when you go from "watching" to "getting on", with your heart rate doing up and down like a Eurovision chorus.

Then Race 2 is where the gloves come off. It's maiden plate chaos, and you've got one that's clearly the class act on the piece of form, plus a value play that can run through the line like it owes you money. I'm keeping it honest, because these Rockhampton maidens can turn into a backyard boxing match if you back the wrong style.
Races 3 and 4 are about pace positioning and fitness. Seneschal in Race 3 is the tempo setter type, and Moochi Starlight is the one I want if the race opens up and the lanes appear. Race 4, though, that's the quaddie heater, because the market is split and the winning style is probably not the one everyone's pointing at.
