1200m · Maiden; · 10:14
✓ WON +$39 Final

Race type: Maiden, 1200m
Map & tempo: Moderate Pace, leaders No Love Lost and Pinky Pie doing the talking
Punty read: No Love Lost is the "do your job early and keep going" horse. Barrier 3 helps, and she looks like she'll be there when the Soft 7 starts grabbing legs. Manorbier is the danger if she gets a clean run, but she's been wide and that costs ground. Pinky Pie is the other speed threat, but I reckon the race stays compact early and you get that straight-up vs crowd finish. Elegant Elle is your spice, she's drifting and could run on, but you need the race to suit.

Top 3 + Roughie ($15.00 pool)

1. No Love Lost (No.4) — $3.27 / $1.75 🏆 WINNER
Bet $15.00 Win — ✓ Won, net +$39.00
Prob 26.8% | Place: 53.8% | Value: 1.11x
Why She's the likely leader with the best run pattern, and Soft 7 usually rewards that.

2. Manorbier (No.1) — $3.33 / $1.75 🏆 4TH
Bet Tracked
Prob 24.9% | Place: 48.9% | Value: 1.41x
Why Better chance if she gets a tidier trip than her last two wide runs.

3. Brilliant Deejay (No.2) — $6.20 / $2.85 🏆 UNPLACED
Bet Tracked
Prob 12.5% | Place: 27.9% | Value: 0.99x
Why If the pace hangs on, he can pick up pieces late, but he's not a lock.

Roughie: Elegant Elle (No.5) — $9.15 / $3.70 🏆 3RD
Bet Tracked
Prob 11.1% | Place: 23.4% | Value: 0.69x
Why If she wins, it's because the front collapses and she gets rolling late.

✓ WON +$25 Final

Race type: Maiden, 1200m
Map & tempo: Slow Pace, so the sprint later decides it
Punty read: This one's all about who can move when everyone's still thinking about their lunch. Brutiful Lass looks like the main beat, she's been placing and Soft 7 suits that kind of steady grinding. Affaire D'amour is a live threat because she's the one that can pop up at a nice price if the race stays slow. Lacey Luck has been getting bumped, and if she breaks cleanly, she can sneak into the top few. Serafina Lass is your long-shot chance, but she needs everything to go right.

Top 3 + Roughie ($15.00 pool)

1. Brutiful Lass (No.1) — $2.69 / $1.57 🏆 WINNER
Bet $15.00 Win — ✓ Won, net +$25.35
Prob 29.5% | Place: 56.6% | Value: 0.81x
Why She's the reliable type in soft and the race shape suits her staying in the right spot.

2. Affaire D'amour (No.4) — $3.00 / $1.65 🏆 UNPLACED
Bet Tracked
Prob 22.4% | Place: 47.0% | Value: 0.83x
Why If she gets a mid-pack run, she can hit the line and pinch it.

3. Lacey Luck (No.2) — $5.95 / $2.65 🏆 3RD
Bet Tracked
Prob 15.5% | Place: 34.1% | Value: 0.87x
Why The "hampered last start" profile, but she's still a fringe player.

Roughie: Serafina Lass (No.7) — $10.70 / $3.90 🏆 4TH
Bet Tracked
Prob 3.9% | Place: 12.2% | Value: 0.63x
Why She wins if the race collapses late and she floats through the gap.

✗ MISS -$2 Final

Race type: Maiden, 1400m
Map & tempo: Moderate Pace, watch for backmarkers to find room
Punty read: This is a soft 1400 where you don't want to be stuck. Ena Sharples is the clear standout in terms of the finish, and she's priced like they expect her to be competitive all the way through the race. Reconvene is the underlay risk if she can find a clean run and make up ground, but it's a touch tricky with the off patterns earlier. Sight Unseen is the other one, she's been absent for a bit, but when she gets a run she can tack on strongly. The rest are mostly looking for luck and lanes, and that's how maiden land does your head in.

Top 3 + Roughie ($19.50 pool)

1. Ena Sharples (No.6) — $2.98 / $1.50 🏆 UNPLACED
Bet $12.00 Win — ✗ Lost, net -$12.00
Prob 28.5% | Place: 69.0% | Value: 1.17x
Why She's built to wear them down on Soft 7, and her recent run style screams "near the finish line."

2. Reconvene (No.1) — $5.90 / $2.25 🏆 WINNER
Bet Tracked
Prob 19.2% | Place: 69.0% | Value: 1.35x
Why She's the sort that can improve into the placings, but the place price isn't friendly.

3. Sight Unseen (No.7) — $6.45 / $2.40 🏆 2ND
Bet $7.50 Place — ✓ Won, net +$10.50
Prob 15.0% | Place: 63.8% | Value: 0.75x

Prob 6.8% | Place: 29.9% | Value: 1.01x

✓ WON +$6 Final

Race type: Benchmark 65, 1400m
Map & tempo: Moderate Pace, likely on-pace pressure
Punty read: Jungle Jane is your "can't ignore the front foot" horse. At this sort of mid-distance, if she's on the speed she gets every chance to stick around for the finish. Niagara Sky is the main danger, she's got form around this sort of layout and should be able to box-seat without doing too much. Hokitika Bell is a sneaky include because she's had the right sort of trips in the past and she can run on when the straight hits. Prestissimo is a roughie type, but you need the chaos to show up and keep showing up.

Top 3 + Roughie ($20.50 pool)

1. Jungle Jane (No.2) — $3.45 / $1.70 🏆 4TH
Bet $10.50 Win — ✗ Lost, net -$10.50
Prob 18.7% | Place: 47.0% | Value: 0.94x
Why She maps to control the tempo, and on Soft 7 that usually means she keeps finding.

2. Niagara Sky (No.4) — $3.34 / $1.65 🏆 3RD
Bet $10.00 Place — ✓ Won, net +$16.00
Prob 29.9% | Place: 59.1% | Value: 1.55x

✗ MISS -$8 Final

Race type: Maiden, 2200m
Map & tempo: Moderate Pace, it's a long unwind job
Punty read: This is the "staying power meets patience" race. Satomi is the pick for a reason, she can handle the grind and the Soft should give her time to build momentum. Early Times is the other key, he's the kind of runner who keeps plugging, and with the tempo not too wild, he should be there when the legs start swapping out. Betty Willdoit is the value bet for places if the race compresses, but she's not a sit-and-relax winner type. Heavenly Blessed is the roughie, but it's mainly for when the field messes it up.

Top 3 + Roughie ($22.50 pool)

Race type: Benchmark 75, 2200m
Map & tempo: Moderate Pace, staying race with a wide-open feel
Punty read: Arksey is the horse punters are probably underestimating, and that's why the line's set up like it is. He's got the kind of profile that can grind forward once others run out of ideas. Quid is the value story, but she's the one who can either serve it up or get caught in the middle of nowhere. Danjuro is the other on the speed map, but he's the type that's going to be involved and then you sweat the last 200. Ocean Melody is the roughie, but she's just one of those "if it falls apart" chances.

Top 3 + Roughie ($8.50 pool)

1. Arksey (No.8) — $3.62 / $1.60 🏆 2ND

Punty read: Hollaback Girl is the class edge in the line and she's got the speed to test the field early. Malleable is the value place type, and if she sits in the pocket, she can hit the line hard on the soft ground. Jasper is your run-on bruiser, Wave is the other one who can pop into the frame if the pace holds up. Zashubo is the other roughie-style include, but you want the race to stay honest, and I reckon it might.

Race type: Benchmark 65, 1650m
Map & tempo: Genuine Pace, speed holds hands and goes around
Punty read: Fashion Savvy is the pick because she's the one that looks like she can handle the pace without getting cooked. Our Lady Brooke is right there too, she's on the speed, and if she holds her position she'll be finishing with authority. Billy Boy is the grinder, and Bruno is the classic "sneak into the trifecta photo" type if the race breaks open. Dojakata is the market favourite, but I'm treating her like a trap for overconfidence today, because the Soft and the pace feel like they can spread things out late.

Top 3 + Roughie ($19.00 pool)

1. Fashion Savvy (No.8) — $3.97 / $2.40 🏆 UNPLACED

Punty's Early Mail

Rightio Loose Units, Waverley on a Soft 7 with the rail out 3m and the track gonna hold onto your sins for longer than a bad sequel. This is one of those meetings where you can feel the pace shaping up early, then everyone's trying to backfill positions like it's a queue at a servo at 2am. If you're on the right runner when the bog loosens up, you get paid. If you're late, you get that long walk back to the car, head down, swearing at the tote like it personally owes you money.

The vibe for today is pretty clear. We've got a couple of horses who map to be involved from the jump, and a bunch of others who are trying to sneak into the money by running the perfect race at the perfect time. Soft 7 means those "smooth, early into it" types get first dibs, because once they hit the kick, they can keep going. Also, Waverley punishes wide and sloppy runs, so if the early speed looks sorted, you wanna be aggressive, not heroic.

My Big 3 spine today is about locking into the races where the model thinks the value is real, not just "short price so it should win, mate." Then I'll stitch the Multi up with a bit of chaos around it, because that's how you stop being just another mug with a ticket that says "hope" on the front.

MEET SNAPSHOT

Track: Soft 7, short course into the chaos
Rail: Out 3m from WP to 320m cutaway rail, remainder True
Official going: Soft 7 (expected to play Speed vs Grip)
Weather: Sunny, 9°C, watch for gusts and a greasy feel underfoot (Light drama)
Early lane guess: Leaders doing the heavy lifting, stalkers safe if they get cover
Tempo profile: Moderate to Genuine early, then it turns into a slog and the winners keep their footing
Jockeys to follow:
Liam Kauri: He's got that "patient then arrive" style, and the Soft tracks reward timing.
Hayley Hassman: This meeting's got a few jobs for her, and when she puts them in the right spot they finish.
Floor Moerman: Reads the pace well, great for sticking a runner close without wasting petrol.
Stables to respect:
Ms L Latta (0 runners): Fresh intent matters on soft, and when these are ready, they go in straight lines.
R R Manning (0 runners): The type of stable that can squeeze a maiden into a placing, especially when the map works.
S A Sharrock (0 runners): When the market lines up with her, she's dangerous late.

Punty's take:

Waverley today is all about being in the right zip code halfway down the straight. With the rail out early and Soft 7 under it, the kick matters, but so does the trip. You do not want to be stumbling for lanes, and you definitely don't want to be stuck behind a wall of tired horses that look like they've got their own mortgage.

Race 1 is a classic "can the leader keep breathing" start. No Love Lost looks like she's got the map to be there, while the others are trying to find their run the hard way. Don't overthink it, if the leaders are doing the work, you can take the place and sleep better.

Then we hit the big confidence races. Ena Sharples in Race 3 is the sort of mare who looks like she knows the rules before the field even starts debating them. Race 4 and Race 8 both have that same feel, where the betting is pointing at a couple of runners who can actually carry the race into the finish, not just chase it like a late party invite.

What it means for you:

Punty's game plan today is pretty simple. Back the horses with the best race story, not the best dream. That means I'm leaning into the Top picks where they fit the pace, and I'm using Roughies only when the shape suggests they can get a soft passage to the turn.

You'll notice I'm heavy on place and win where the model already locked it. That's because today is the sort of meeting where the first three are usually not random, they're just "slightly inconvenienced." If you're protecting yourself with the correct side bets, you've basically turned the chaos into a manageable problem.

If you want the clean way to play it, run the Multi as the spine, then keep your heads on straight with the Quaddie lanes. Don't get cute in the middle legs, that's where "value" goes to get stitched up.
