Punty's Punts
Race type: Maiden Plate, 1200m
Map & tempo: Slow pace skews to mid-pack, then a longer sprint late with the wind helping closers
Punty read: Dream Suite (No.7) looks like the "gets rolling second half of the race" type, and with ear muffs (pre-race only) and that lugging bit corrected, it's the classic Ballarat script: settle, gather, hit the sprint. Sparkling Award (No.4) is your market-respect type, it's got the speed map profile and keeps showing up in the right places. Baby Blue (No.6) is your "don't ignore the on-market speed" runner even if it's not the prettiest ride early.

Bet $11.50 Win — ✗ Lost, net -$11.50
Prob 28.3% | Place: 95.0% | Value: 1.05x
Why She's set up to improve out of a clean run scenario, once the sprint opens, she's right there.

Bet Tracked
Prob 25.3% | Place: 95.0% | Value: 1.12x

Bet $6.50 Place — ✓ Won, net +$2.60
Prob 25.3% | Place: 66.6% | Value: 1.04x
Why Backing the "show up late" angle, even in a slow tempo, Baby Blue can grab a spot.
Roughie: Cosmic Command (No.1) — $12.50 / $2.75 🏆 3RD
Bet Tracked
Prob 5.2% | Place: 34.5% | Value: 1.05x
Why He's got that first-up and slow-start story, if the race stays sticky, the market might've got it wrong.
Race type: Maiden Plate, 1100m
Map & tempo: Genuine pace, so if you're not on speed you're chasing shadows
Punty read: Australian Legacy (No.1) looks like the "I'm leading until I'm caught" type. Frosted Miss (No.3) maps close enough to take advantage if the leaders fold a bit. Massalia (No.7) is your longish outsider who can pop into the frame if the pace gets stretched and she's ridden with intent. Market's not screaming value though, it's more like everyone's paying attention to the front runners.

Prob 32.5% | Place: 66.8% | Value: 0.85x

Bet Tracked
Prob 13.2% | Place: 42.7% | Value: 1.06x
Why Could hit the frame, but it's not the best place to spend dollars today.
Roughie: Snitchy (No.9) — $9.40 / $3.50 🏆 UNPLACED
Bet Tracked
Prob 11.6% | Place: 42.7% | Value: 1.44x
Why She's the value signal, but the race is set to reward clean on-pacers, she needs things to go her way.
Race type: Maiden Plate, 1000m
Map & tempo: Slow pace on paper, but sprint races still produce chaos at the start
Punty read: Defarzio (No.9) is the obvious story, the market's confidently there and the setup screams "win first, ask questions later." Points For Effort (No.3) looks dangerous in that "I'll race near the action and take the sting out" way. Vain Beauty (No.11) is the type to use her chance late, especially if the tempo keeps it compact.

Bet Tracked
Prob 15.2% | Place: 44.2% | Value: 0.67x

Bet Tracked
Prob 13.9% | Place: 43.6% | Value: 0.81x
Why Needs the pace to suit and room to come through, not buying that risk with the ticket.
Roughie: Holler's Vision (No.2) — $11.75 / $3.60 🏆 UNPLACED
Bet Tracked
Prob 9.4% | Place: 34.6% | Value: 1.26x
Why She's live at a price, but on 1000m you don't get many mulligans.
Race type: BM66, 1600m
Map & tempo: Slow early, then the synthetic invites a longer grind home
Punty read: Autumnheat (No.1) is your mainstay, resuming off solid prep and the style suits this sort of tempo where the race doesn't blow out immediately. Zeshadow (No.8) is the speed-and-stamina hybrid: if it's a staying-on race, she'll be there to grab. Amphactor (No.5) and Savvie Blanc (No.4) are the ones who can sneak into the finish if the leaders get stitched up by traffic.
Top 3 + Roughie ($13.00 pool)
Top 3 + Roughie ($18.00 pool)
1. Autumnheat (No.1) — $3.09 / $2.35 🏆 4TH

Prob 34.2% | Place: 67.0% | Value: 1.18x

Bet $5.00 Place — ✓ Won, net +$17.00
Prob 29.7% | Place: 66.6% | Value: 0.94x

Bet Tracked
Prob 18.1% | Place: 58.1% | Value: 0.91x
Why In the mix, but no place betting available, and the plan's anchored.
Roughie: Savvie Blanc (No.4) — $4.60 / $1.95 🏆 WINNER
Bet Tracked
Prob 17.5% | Place: 58.1% | Value: 0.90x
Why Consistent enough to be dangerous, but doesn't get the extra exposure here.
Race type: Maiden Plate, 1600m
Map & tempo: Slow pace, so the winners usually come from the ones who can keep building position
Punty read: Wazza (No.10) is the main act, when the market lands on these 1600m maidens, it's usually because they're the right kind of improver. Fierce Fiasco (No.5) is a tough sort that can grind out a placing and maybe more if the race stays compact. Vespasian (No.9) is the "don't be shocked" each-way vibe but today it's place only and needs luck.
Top 3 + Roughie ($20.50 pool)
Top 3 + Roughie ($20.50 pool)

Bet $8.50 Win — ✗ Lost, net -$8.50
Prob 28.2% | Place: 95.0% | Value: 0.99x

Bet $8.00 Place — ✗ Lost, net -$8.00
Prob 17.9% | Place: 67.0% | Value: 0.91x
Why Place bet suits, if she's within range late, she'll hang on for the money.
3. Vespasian (No.9) — $4.85 / $1.65 🏆 5TH
Bet $4.00 Place — ✗ Lost, net -$4.00
Prob 16.5% | Place: 65.0% | Value: 0.86x
Why Backmarker who can still squeeze into the placings if the pace map compresses.
Roughie: Black Hex (No.1) — $18.00 / $3.60 🏆 6TH
Bet Tracked
Prob 3.7% | Place: 25.1% | Value: 0.59x
Why Path to winning is messy, needs the race to fall apart early and traffic to open late.
Race type: BM66, 1400m
Map & tempo: Slow pace, so positioning matters more than fireworks
Punty read: Vianarra (No.6) is the confidence pick, she's got the right style for this track when they don't sprint themselves silly early. Wild Ruby (No.12) and Crossoverkid (No.11) are the types who can plug into the finish if things go wrong in front. Puglia (No.9) is right there on form, but she's not getting the extra plan dollars.
Top 3 + Roughie ($12.00 pool)
Top 3 + Roughie ($12.00 pool)

Prob 23.8% | Place: 65.0% | Value: 1.01x
Why She's set to be there when the race starts to pick up, slow tempo means she's not cooked early.

Bet Tracked
Prob 17.1% | Place: 58.0% | Value: 0.72x

Bet Tracked
Prob 16.9% | Place: 58.0% | Value: 0.96x
Why Could sneak a place, but she's more "upset if it opens" than sure thing.
Roughie: Champagne Jenni (No.7) — $5.20 / $2.45 🏆 4TH
Bet Tracked
Prob 15.3% | Place: 43.0% | Value: 1.05x
Why Needs a bit of luck early and then the dash home, she's not the safe option on this ticket.
Race type: Class 1, 1200m
Map & tempo: Moderate pace, with early help and a finish where the leaders can still hang on
Punty read: Salizou (No.7) is the one with the "this race fits me" profile, drawn well and ready to apply pressure. Endless Summer (No.1) is capable of sitting handy, but she's got the wobble risk with the complex resuming gear. Princess Sakiko (No.6) is a wildcard to sit on, but the plan's built around the top runner and the pace shape.
Top 3 + Roughie ($12.00 pool)
Top 3 + Roughie ($12.00 pool)
1. Salizou (No.7) — $2.29 / $1.32 🏆 WINNER

Bet Tracked
Prob 17.4% | Place: 58.1% | Value: 0.74x
Why Too risky to split when the top pick's got the map edge.
3. Princess Sakiko (No.6) — $5.15 / $2.15 🏆 3RD
Bet Tracked
Prob 17.3% | Place: 58.1% | Value: 1.03x
Why Could run a cheeky race, but she's not the bankroll saver.
Roughie: Eire To The Jungle (No.8) — $14.75 / $3.30 🏆 4TH
Bet Tracked
Prob 5.9% | Place: 25.1% | Value: 1.02x
Why Upset only if the race breaks weird, and on 1200, that's a big ask.
Race type: BM62, 1000m
Map & tempo: Moderate pace, so the on-pacers get first dibs and the rest must fly late
Punty read: Orlabent (No.1) is the one you want when speed is working and the race doesn't get too chaotic early. Vega Blues (No.4) is the "resume and pop" option but she's short in this plan for a reason: value's not the goal here, certainty is. Where's Poppy (No.6) and Chelsea Toff (No.8) are the ones who can fill up the trifecta positions if the finish is a scramble.
Top 3 + Roughie ($12.00 pool)

Prob 26.1% | Place: 58.1% | Value: 1.29x

Bet Tracked
Prob 22.2% | Place: 65.2% | Value: 0.73x

3. Where's Poppy (No.6) — $4.90 / $2.35 🏆 3RD
Bet Tracked
Prob 14.7% | Place: 43.0% | Value: 0.99x
Why Needs the run and timing, not the best "guarantee" on a 1000m dash.
Roughie: Chelsea Toff (No.8) — $10.30 / $3.70 🏆 5TH
Bet Tracked
Prob 9.6% | Place: 34.6% | Value: 1.37x
Why Big price upside, but backmarkers need everything to go right.

Punty's Early Mail
Rightio Loose Units, Ballarat's Synthetic track's doing the "slightly damp, slightly chaotic, still pretending it's normal" routine today, and the rail's True Entire Circuit, so you can't blame anything on the crowd. Let's hunt winners and not do dumb shit… too often.
Get your head straight: wind's strong, showers are lurking, and closers get a leg-up because they can sustain a longer sprint. Translation? If you're not watching how the leaders run, you're basically guessing like it's a cold open on a game show.
Righto, here's your spine (Big 3 + Multi), then the race-by-race cheat sheet with the Top 3 and a roughie for each one.
MEET SNAPSHOT
Track: Synthetic, 1000-1600m card
Rail: True Entire Circuit
Official going: Synthetic (expected to play true to pace, with wet-weather late kick)
Weather: Showers, 7°C, humidity 90%, wind 35km/h N (watch for late rain chaos)
Early lane guess: Tight early lanes with leaders holding the line… unless the race turns into a stampede.
Tempo profile: Slow-ish early, then a longer sprint when the gusts/wetness squeeze out the finishers.
Jockeys to follow:
Jye McNeil, keeps jumping on the "if it's there, it's mine" rides and generally knows when to let them roll.
Jack Hill, gets the job done when there's a shape to the race (and today there's absolutely a shape).
John Allen, a consistent threat when the market stops caring and the horse starts working.
Stables to respect:
Ben, Will & Jd Hayes (6 runners), they don't just win, they place and position like they're running a conveyer belt to the fence.
Andrew Noblet (2 runners), sneaky in the way only someone who's absolutely got a plan can be.
Mark & Levi Kavanagh (2 runners), often bang in the middle of the race when others are making it up.
Punty's take:
Ballarat today feels like the sort of meeting where the "obvious" runner gets there… and then the second wave gets you in the quaddie because the track's hanging onto speed longer than a lazy punter expects. The wind up the straight is basically permission for closers to keep biting late. So if you're backing front-runners, make sure they've actually got the right kind of early toe, not just "they're drawn near the front."
There's also a very telltale vibe across the midweek maidens where gear changes and first-up runs can flip the script. Dream Suite in Race 1 looks like one of those "stood up in the shower, suddenly competitive" deals with ear muffs and bit-on. Then later you've got Salizou in Race 7, the sort of horse that can just sit right where the race tells it to sit and then pop like a Netflix series finale.
And for the sickos: Defarzio in Race 3 is the kind of short-priced gremlin that can win and still leave everyone bragging they "almost" had the multi. Autumnheat in Race 4? That's the reliable type that turns the quaddie into a cleaner puzzle than it deserves to be.
What it means for you:
Be aggressive where the early speed and map says "run." That means backing the top picks to hold their positions, then using place bets like they're your seatbelt. Today's wet-risk means races can tighten up late, and the best way to protect against a late wobble is to keep your feet under you with place odds.
For sequences: Quaddies are the fun tax. Big 6 is the "why did I do this to myself" tax. I'll still show them because we're degenerate legends, but don't act shocked if one leg runs dead straight and the others decide to go full chaos.
Now let's get to it, Big 3 + Multi first, then the full card.
