Punty's Punts
Race type: Maiden, 1621m
Map & tempo: Slow Pace, Racy Rascal brings a racy advantage, but the real question is who holds their action while the rest get swallowed in the soft.
Punty read:
This is a "who actually shows up" maiden on Soft 5. Graceful Lass (No.4) is the market anchor for a reason: she's built for this kind of keeping-it-simple race where you just have to keep moving without losing momentum. Midnight Deal (No.5) can run a place if the leaders don't sprint themselves into exhaustion. Universal Duke (No.2) is more for the "if it falls apart" scenario, backmarkers on a longish trip need everything to go right. The roughie Mensesh (No.6) is your classic "speed meltdown = swoop" type.
Top 3 + Roughie ($12.00 pool)
1. Graceful Lass (No.4) — $1.36 / $1.01 🏆 WINNER
Bet $12.00 Win — ✓ Won, net +$4.80
Prob 58.4% | Place: 95.0% | Value: 1.06x
Why She's the one who can keep the race going long enough to finish it off, on Soft 5 that's a massive advantage.
2. Midnight Deal (No.5) — $4.85 / $1.45 🏆 4TH
Bet Tracked
Why She can run well enough to place, but the "NTD field" angle makes it a thin game.
3. Universal Duke (No.2) — $13.75 / $3.30 🏆 2ND
Bet Tracked
Why Tough to justify from here, barrier + pace map say "maybe", not "likely".
Roughie: Mensesh (No.6) — $17.25 / $3.30 🏆 5TH
Bet Tracked
Prob 6.8% | Place: 33.4% | Value: 1.58x
Why She's got value as a runner, but on this sort of maiden set-up the place dividends aren't screaming for a play.
Race type: Maiden, 1200m
Map & tempo: Slow Pace, Optimus Prime profiles as the grinder/contender, everyone else's trying to get into it without getting stuck.
Punty read:
This one's about timing and lane. Optimus Prime (No.8) is built for a race where the pace doesn't go warp speed, he can sit in the right orbit and keep rolling. Mad Spitfire (No.2) is the "place the stable flyer" type, she looks like she can find the frame even if she can't pinch it. Pacific Lass (No.7) at her price is the value place angle, especially with the way first-up races can unfold on soft-ish ground. Gets The Girls (No.1) is the roughie for the "held up then bursts through" scenario.
Top 3 + Roughie ($10.50 pool)
1. Optimus Prime (No.8) — $2.08 / $1.10 🏆 WINNER
Bet $4.50 Win — ✓ Won, net +$4.95
Prob 40.4% | Place: 65.2% | Value: 1.03x
Why He gets the kind of run where he doesn't need luck, just needs the jockey to keep him moving.
2. Mad Spitfire (No.2) — $5.65 / $1.70 🏆 2ND
Bet $4.00 Place — ✓ Won, net +$2.80
Prob 14.4% | Place: 54.2% | Value: 0.89x
Why If the speed scrapes along, she's the one that can park in the finish and hold a spot.
3. Pacific Lass (No.7) — $7.20 / $2.00 🏆 6TH
Bet $2.00 Place — ✗ Lost, net -$2.00
Prob 14.4% | Place: 54.2% | Value: 1.27x
Why Soft track + midfield style + being priced like a long shot equals value for a place.
Roughie: Gets The Girls (No.1) — $10.75 / $2.50 🏆 3RD
Bet Tracked
Prob 9.2% | Place: 39.4% | Value: 0.73x
Why She needs things to go her way from further back, worth attention, not worth paying for today.
Race type: C2 Handicap, 1100m
Map & tempo: Moderate Pace, on-pace battlers with a fast finish set-up.
Punty read:
This is a "you can't be too far off" sprint on Soft. Dancewithme (No.1) is the key, she's got the map and the profile for racing right where the tempo rewards you. Morf (No.2) is second pick for a reason: she's not just there to get photographed; she's got the class to put in a real finish. Miss Lottie (No.8) at the price is the standout place value because she's consistent enough to be in the mix when the race compresses. Couldabeenahandbag (No.7) is your roughie only in theory, she's the "if the whole race plays to her" type.
Top 3 + Roughie ($22.50 pool)
1. Dancewithme (No.1) — $2.79 / $1.37 🏆 2ND
Bet $6.00 Win — ✗ Lost, net -$6.00
Prob 26.7% | Place: 95.0% | Value: 0.88x
Why She maps to go forward and keep working, Soft 5 usually suits those who can maintain rhythm.
2. Morf (No.2) — $4.50 / $1.70 🏆 WINNER
Bet $9.50 Place — ✓ Won, net +$6.65
Prob 14.6% | Place: 65.1% | Value: 0.77x
Why Tongue tie helps and she's the kind that can sit closer without turning it into a disaster.
3. Miss Lottie (No.8) — $7.85 / $2.25 🏆 7TH
Bet $7.00 Place — ✗ Lost, net -$7.00
Prob 14.2% | Place: 65.1% | Value: 1.32x
Why She's been earning placings and at this odds she's not a "hope", she's a "can actually run third" play.
Roughie: Couldabeenahandbag (No.7) — $11.25 / $2.85 🏆 6TH
Bet Tracked
Prob 9.6% | Place: 54.3% | Value: 1.27x
Why She's value-ish, but today's safest return route is locking the top three place-capable options.
Race type: Bm70+ Handicap, 1100m
Map & tempo: Genuine Pace, Saturday Sesh looks like the one trying to bully them early.
Punty read:
This race has a leader's aura. Saturday Sesh (No.4) is the class of the speed setup, if they get a genuine tempo, he can run them ragged and still have something late. Prawns Eleven (No.1) is the stalker-type danger: he can be right there and pick off the stragglers. The Showvinist (No.5) is the place insurance, he's been around the money and the Soft doesn't stop him finding. Baalbek (No.6) is your roughie only because he's priced like a lottery ticket… but he's not a complete clown; if the track plays kinder to his run pattern, he can slot into the finish.
Top 3 + Roughie ($19.50 pool)
1. Saturday Sesh (No.4) — $4.05 / $1.62 🏆 WINNER
Bet $13.00 Each Way ($6.50W + $6.50P) — ✓ Won, net +$23.86
Prob 23.8% | Place: 66.6% | Value: 1.18x
Why Genuine pace means he can keep control, on Soft 5, leaders who don't die early can absolutely win.
2. Prawns Eleven (No.1) — $4.60 / $1.70 🏆 3RD
Bet Tracked
Prob 16.9% | Place: 66.6% | Value: 0.95x
Why He's live, but with Saturday Sesh each-way already in play, you don't want to overstuff the same outcome.
3. The Showvinist (No.5) — $5.05 / $1.80 🏆 4TH
Bet $6.50 Place — ✗ Lost, net -$6.50
Prob 15.0% | Place: 66.6% | Value: 0.93x
Why If Saturday Sesh forces the issue, this one should be there to pick up the pieces late.
Roughie: Baalbek (No.6) — $16.00 / $3.10 🏆 UNPLACED
Bet Tracked
Prob 5.3% | Place: 34.4% | Value: 1.04x
Why Roughie paths need the race shape to break a certain way, today I'm happy taking the safer place lanes.
Race type: C2 Handicap, 1300m
Map & tempo: Genuine Pace, more room to move, more chances to get stuck… welcome to handicap theatre.
Punty read:
This is a race where the winner might not be the obvious favourite. Time Connection (No.7) is the anchor each-way because she profiles as reliable enough to stay in contention through the Soft. Subtle Power (No.5) has gear that can lift him, but the model's basically saying: not the day to spray money when the value route is elsewhere. Batista (No.1) might run a cheque, but he's not the place target the numbers want. The roughie Milly's Clever Too (No.11) is tempting because the market doesn't make him cheap, but the model's gone with a cleaner concentration strategy.
Top 3 + Roughie ($10.00 pool)
1. Time Connection (No.7) — $6.50 / $2.25 🏆 UNPLACED
Bet $10.00 Each Way ($5.00W + $5.00P) — ✗ Lost, net -$10.00
Prob 13.8% | Place: 42.9% | Value: 1.14x
Why 1300m on Soft is about staying in the fight, she looks like she'll do the work and not fold early.
2. Subtle Power (No.5) — $6.45 / $2.15 🏆 UNPLACED
Bet Tracked
Prob 13.8% | Place: 42.9% | Value: 1.13x
Why With Time Connection each-way, this turns into too much overlap.
3. Batista (No.1) — $4.65 / $1.90 🏆 UNPLACED
Bet Tracked
Prob 13.8% | Place: 42.7% | Value: 0.81x
Why He needs a specific run to place; the model's not keen on that gamble at this pool.
Roughie: Milly's Clever Too (No.11) — $9.55 / $3.10 🏆 UNPLACED
Bet Tracked
Prob 11.8% | Place: 42.7% | Value: 1.43x
Why Value's there, but we're playing the numbers' safer concentration instead of adding more chaos.
Race type: CHAOS HANDICAP, 1760m
Map & tempo: Genuine Pace, long enough for a mistake to cost you, fast enough to make it interesting.
Punty read:
This is where the slow track gremlins start collecting scalps. Lombadina (No.2) is the standout because she's set up to be competitive right in the middle of the race, if the pace stays genuine, she gets a real chance to work through without getting buried. Jayashree (No.6) is the flashy favourite, but the value says no, this is a "don't pay for it" situation. Monty Zoomer (No.1) is a leader type but he's still more "likely in the top few" than "likely the winner" in this exact set-up. It's A Lance (No.5) is your roughie: the price tag says chaos, but the scenario says he can absolutely hit the frame and sometimes the line.
Top 3 + Roughie ($16.50 pool)
1. Lombadina (No.2) — $5.50 / $1.90 🏆 2ND
Bet $11.50 Each Way ($5.75W + $5.75P) — ✓ Won, net +$3.45
Prob 16.9% | Place: 66.7% | Value: 1.14x
Why This is the "pace is on, she stays in it" profile, Soft 5 at 1760m can reward the right middle-phase run.
2. Jayashree (No.6) — $3.17 / $1.50 🏆 11TH
Bet Tracked
Prob 16.3% | Place: 66.9% | Value: 0.64x
Why She's talented, but the model's telling us the value is handled by No.2 each-way.
3. Monty Zoomer (No.1) — $4.05 / $1.72 🏆 WINNER
Bet $5.00 Place — ✓ Won, net +$3.60
Prob 16.3% | Place: 66.8% | Value: 0.81x
Why If the pace map keeps firing, he can hang on for a cheque, soft staying handicaps love those consistent types.
Roughie: It's A Lance (No.5) — $10.50 / $3.10 🏆 10TH
Bet Tracked
Prob 12.5% | Place: 65.1% | Value: 1.62x
Why Roughie path is simple, if the tempo doesn't collapse too hard, he can run into the placings and make it hurt for the win gamblers.
Race type: Bm58+ Handicap, 1200m
Map & tempo: Moderate Pace, short sprint, late pressure, and the rail can't save everyone.
Punty read:
Here it's all about the run style mix. Dreamers Never Die (No.1) each-way is the model's way of saying: he's good enough to be there when it tightens, and Soft 5 gives him every chance to keep finding. The Lions' Gate (No.3) is the interesting price/value profile, but the model's not backing him today. Pat's Last Bang (No.7) is a place-only play, because at 1200m, holding a spot is often more realistic than winning cleanly. Runforrob (No.6) is the roughie: if the race loses its rhythm, he can swoop into a pocket.
Top 3 + Roughie ($9.00 pool)
1. Dreamers Never Die (No.1) — $3.80 / $1.62 🏆 2ND
Bet $6.50 Each Way ($3.25W + $3.25P) — Cashed, net -$1.23
Prob 19.6% | Place: 54.3% | Value: 0.91x
Why He's the sort that stays in the fight through Soft, ideal for a sprint where the finish is a grind.
2. The Lions' Gate (No.3) — $5.10 / $1.82 🏆 UNPLACED
Bet Tracked
Prob 18.0% | Place: 54.3% | Value: 1.13x
Why With Dreamers Never Die each-way already, you'd just be duplicating the same lane.
3. Pat's Last Bang (No.7) — $3.80 / $1.65 🏆 WINNER
Bet $2.50 Place — ✓ Won, net +$2.00
Prob 18.0% | Place: 54.3% | Value: 0.84x
Why Likely to hold his position in a contest where late pace decides the minor money.
Roughie: Runforrob (No.6) — $11.00 / $2.75 🏆 4TH
Bet Tracked
Prob 10.3% | Place: 39.3% | Value: 1.39x
Why Needs a specific run pattern to make it worthwhile; top three cover the safer "place paths" today.
Sequence legs are the picks-engine's authoritative choice, rendered from the persisted ticket.
Smart: 1,5,4,6 / 7,5,1,11 / 6,1,2,5 / 7,3,1,6 (256 combos x $0.25 = $65.00) -- 25% flexi
The day's multi leans on three win legs across the card.
1 - Graceful Lass (Race 1, No.4)✓ Won — $1.36
2 - Optimus Prime (Race 2, No.8)✓ Won — $2.08
3 - Dancewithme (Race 3, No.1)✗ — $2.79

Punty's Early Mail
Rightio Loose Units, Kalgoorlie on a Soft 5 where the rails are +5m and every runner's a little bit damp at the finish...
10 races? Nah mate, it's 7, but don't let that fool you, this card's got the "wide-open chaos" smell around it, especially Races 5 to 7. With the track sitting Soft 5 and the rail +5m entire, expect a bit of give in the ground and a "save-your-action" style of racing, leaders can still hold, but the finish line is where the slippery bastards get you.
7-race preview in one hit:
Races 1 and 2 look like the type where the right horse gets a run early and keeps it simple. Then we hit the proper grinder races (3-4) where positioning matters more than vibes. By Races 5-7 it's full-blown "choose your pain": even the favourites are vulnerable because the tempo's genuine and the wet track turns every sprint into a survival contest.
Race-shape note (tempo): Pace is generally Slow to Moderate, but the handicaps start throwing out pace angles, so when I say "get on", I mean it like a mate yelling at you to jump in the queue before it wraps around the pub.
MEET SNAPSHOT
Track: Kalgoorlie, 1200m-1760m card
Rail: +5m entire
Official going: Soft 5 (expected to play Closing + On-Pace)
Weather: Partly cloudy, 14°C, watch for gusty running and horses having a slightly longer finish (no real rainfall to deepen the track)
Early lane guess: Keep an eye on the middle-to-wide lanes for swoopers; the rail helps, but the softness rewards momentum.
Tempo profile: Slow-ish early, then genuine pace in the handicap sections, finish strength matters.
Jockeys to follow:
Brandon Louis, gets horses in the right spots and tends to lift when there's clear air
Ms Lucy Fiore, loves a tactically clean run and can pinch a finish on Soft
Ms Jade McNaught, handles the chaos well and finds lanes when plans go sideways
Stables to respect:
P J Fernie (5 runners), ready-to-roll types; if they're in it, they're usually in the battle
P D Tapper (4 runners), often sneaky with gear + race tactics; don't ignore the "middle of the field"
Brock Lewthwaite (4 runners), he brings them back performing, not just participating
Punty's take:
Races 1-2: start with your head, not your heart. In R1, the top of the market looks like the one that'll actually see a clean run, while the value chatter (Mensesh) is the classic "if the speed collapses" story. In R2, it's a pace-and-trip kind of race and Optimus Prime looks like the horse to control it, everyone else is chasing the script.
Races 3-4: this is where Kalgoorlie turns into a chess match on soft ground. In R3, Dancewithme just looks like the one who can stay in the "working" section of the race without getting bullied. Then R4, Saturday Sesh looks tailor-made to run his race, on a track where leaders can still take a hold, he's the likely spearpoint.
Races 5-7: this is the chaos kitchen, no lie. R5's handicappy tempo plus first-up/off-day angles means the "place" play matters a lot. R6 has that open-handicap feel where one smart run can flip it, Lombadina's the one I keep circling. And R7? It's a Soft sprint with leaders doing their best impression of "maybe I'll hold", but the market and the run styles all say the finish could be spicy.
What it means for you:
My "do the job" spine today is the Big 3 Multi: Graceful Lass, Optimus Prime, Dancewithme. Those three are the races that look most like "follows form + wins the race shape". If you're playing multi, this is your foundation, not fireworks.
Then, race-by-race, I'm keeping bets sensible where the model says "watch only" / "no bet": that's usually because place divs are thin or the runner needs a very specific scenario. The way we print money on cards like this is picking when the horse can actually place, not just when the horse might.
If you're building a Quaddie lane ticket, tighten R4-7 with the pre-built shapes. Don't overthink it, on Soft 5, one held-up run or one bad step and you're watching the replay like it's Netflix: frustrating, but educational. Gamble smart, not greedy.
