Punty's Punts
Race type: MAIDEN, 1400m
Map & tempo: Slow tempo; on-pacers get first dibs, but the finish still sharpens
Punty read: Take The Field (No.1) has the cleanest pathway through a messy maiden map, midfield but positioned where he can pop when the race tempo finally lets them. The value is that a few others are on pace too, so this isn't a "walk in the park" win, more like a "don't overthink it, just get the right horse to the line" situation. If the race stays slow early, the straight dictates everything… and No.1 should be there like your mate who always turns up with the spare seat.
Top 3 + Roughie ($18.00 pool)
1. Take The Field (No.1) — $2.48 / $1.25 🏆 2ND
Bet $7.00 Win — ✗ Lost, net -$7.00
Prob 33.8% | Place: 95.0% | Value: 1.13x
Why Best blend of map position and finish readiness; rail being true favours horses that can avoid being stranded wide.
2. Minozza (No.3) — $4.65 / $1.70 🏆 UNPLACED
Bet $7.50 Place — ✗ Lost, net -$7.50
Prob 65.2% | Place: 65.6% | Value: 1.11x
Why On-pacer with upside if the pace holds; the kind of runner that turns "nowhere" races into place runs.
3. Maritime Dream (No.8) — $5.05 / $1.82 🏆 3RD
Bet $3.50 Place — ✓ Won, net +$2.87
Prob 65.2% | Place: 65.2% | Value: 0.76x
Why Moves with the on-pace line; can snag a spot if others stumble into each other.
Roughie: Ziolite (No.9) — $10.90 / $3.20 🏆 UNPLACED
Bet Tracked
Prob 5.1% | Place: 34.6% | Value: 0.81x
Why Market hasn't fully "clocked" him, if the speed burns and the back half starts sprinting, he's one of the better swoopers-by-default in the field.
Race type: HANDICAP C1, 1200m
Map & tempo: genuine early; on-pacers and stalkers get a genuine crack
Punty read: This one's about who's brave enough to be at the right part of the track early. With real pace likely, you want runners that don't need a miracle to get a position. Calathinite (No.1) looks like the tightest on-ramp, on pace, drawn reasonably, and able to hold a spot without being swallowed by the leaders.
Then the danger: a heap of other horses are "place capable" if the tempo gets a bit too committed, so don't be shocked if you see a familiar pattern: winner sticks, others fight out for minor honours.
Top 3 + Roughie ($16.00 pool)
1. Calathinite (No.1) — $3.62 / $1.60 🏆 WINNER
Bet $9.50 Each Way ($4.75W + $4.75P) — ✓ Won, net +$20.43
Prob 16.5% | Place: 65.3% | Value: 0.76x
Why On-pacer who can hold form through a genuine tempo; best suited to a "don't get buried" run.
2. My Tea (No.2) — $5.60 / $2.00 🏆 UNPLACED
Bet Tracked
Prob 65.1% | Place: 65.0% | Value: 1.02x
Why Place-side profile looks good but the model wants you to concentrate elsewhere in this one.
3. Chantilly Girl (No.5) — $5.90 / $2.20 🏆 4TH
Bet $6.50 Place — ✗ Lost, net -$6.50
Prob 65.1% | Place: 65.0% | Value: 1.07x
Why Proper early-press type; in a real 1200m handicap sprint, that's how you keep banking.
Roughie: Working Class Girl (No.9) — $9.55 / $2.80 🏆 3RD
Bet Tracked
Prob 10.5% | Place: 58.1% | Value: 1.27x
Why Place chances exist, but the best path for your money is covering the stronger maps rather than spreading too thin.
Race type: HANDICAP Bm56+, 1600m
Map & tempo: moderate pace; stalkers can mow them down late
Punty read: If this turns into a "sit and sprint" mile, Tousled Crown (No.3) is exactly the type you want in front of the telly, because he's priced like a genuine threat and he maps to get cover. Oscar Winner (No.5) and Warby Ranges (No.4) are both built for that same story: get into the race early enough, then pounce when it counts.
Tobians and other backmarkers need the tempo to do them favours, great when it happens, frustrating when it doesn't. That's the whole vibe.
Top 3 + Roughie ($22.00 pool)
1. Tousled Crown (No.3) — $3.88 / $1.57 🏆 4TH
Bet $17.00 Each Way ($8.50W + $8.50P) — ✗ Lost, net -$17.00
Prob 22.2% | Place: 65.3% | Value: 1.06x
Why Real on-pace presence and a mile profile that lets him attack late without being left holding the bag.
2. Oscar Winner (No.5) — $4.60 / $1.62 🏆 WINNER
Bet Tracked
Prob 65.2% | Place: 65.3% | Value: 0.90x
Why The model rates him but prefers the bankroll concentration around No.3's cleaner win/place path.
3. Warby Ranges (No.4) — $4.65 / $1.65 🏆 3RD
Bet $5.00 Place — ✓ Won, net +$3.25
Prob 65.2% | Place: 65.3% | Value: 0.90x
Why Should get the right trip for a back-half burst; a minor-money magnet if the field spreads.
Roughie: Tobian (No.10) — $13.50 / $3.00 🏆 7TH
Bet Tracked
Prob 5.1% | Place: 33.4% | Value: 0.85x
Why Needs the race to fracture perfectly; too many ifs compared to the stronger top-end profiles.
Race type: HANDICAP Bm68+, 2050m
Map & tempo: slow early; patience + positioning = payday
Punty read: This is 2050m of "who survives the middle", and Another Nephew (No.4) is the sort that gives you a classic handicap advantage: he's in the right mix without needing chaos. Dynamic One (No.1) threatens too, but the model wants you to focus on No.4 as the main anchor.
Reginald (No.3) is your steady place pressure. Zadar Rock is the rough-value chaos, can absolutely show up if the market's undercooked him, but you're not paying overs for miracles.
Top 3 + Roughie ($15.50 pool)
1. Another Nephew (No.4) — $3.45 / $1.82 🏆 3RD
Bet $10.00 Each Way ($5.00W + $5.00P) — Cashed, net -$0.90
Prob 23.9% | Place: 65.2% | Value: 0.98x
Why Handicap profile fits this slow-pace grind; strong chance to be there when others start to stop.
2. Dynamic One (No.1) — $3.35 / $1.78 🏆 2ND
Bet Tracked
Prob 66.9% | Place: 67.0% | Value: 0.95x
Why Top threat, but the model already has the key exposure through No.4 in this lane.
3. Reginald (No.3) — $5.00 / $2.33 🏆 UNPLACED
Bet $5.50 Place — ✗ Lost, net -$5.50
Prob 65.0% | Place: 65.2% | Value: 0.90x
Why Should pick up the pieces late; in slow 2050m handicaps, that's how you cash.
Roughie: Zadar Rock (No.2) — $12.00 / $4.67 🏆 WINNER
Bet Tracked
Prob 5.4% | Place: 33.4% | Value: 0.77x
Why Value exists if the race opens up, but your best ROI path is covering the core runners rather than chasing one long look.
Race type: HANDICAP Bm68+, 1300m
Map & tempo: slow; midfield entries that can find a gap win the lottery
Punty read: A 1300m handicap on Good with a slow tempo is like ordering a coffee and being told it's "coming soon". The first 600m is basically nothing, then suddenly everyone wants to sprint.
The model's lead is Royalzel (No.3) for a reason: he's set up to be in the race at the right time, and the place profile screams "keep the ticket alive". Bartime adds some blink-and-you-miss-it upside; Star Power is an odds-risk play for a place snack. And Heeza Beau… well, he's your "if it goes wrong for them, he goes right for you" type.
Top 3 + Roughie ($22.00 pool)
1. Royalzel (No.3) — $5.20 / $2.40 🏆 2ND
Bet $17.00 Each Way ($8.50W + $8.50P) — ✓ Won, net +$3.40
Prob 16.4% | Place: 65.4% | Value: 1.08x
Why Suits the 1300m slow-tempo pattern, should get through without getting stuck, then pick up.
2. Bartime (No.7) — $5.00 / $2.33 🏆 4TH
Bet Tracked
Prob 65.2% | Place: 65.1% | Value: 0.91x
Why Solid, but the model doesn't want extra overlap when No.3 already covers the lane.
3. Star Power (No.6) — $4.60 / $2.20 🏆 UNPLACED
Bet $5.00 Place — ✗ Lost, net -$5.00
Prob 65.2% | Place: 65.1% | Value: 0.83x
Why Can slide into the finish fight; with Good going, he can keep finding ground.
Roughie: Heeza Beau (No.9) — $12.50 / $4.83 🏆 UNPLACED
Bet Tracked
Prob 9.3% | Place: 54.3% | Value: 1.47x
Why Needs a better run than most; path to winning exists only if the race turns into a real brawl.
Race type: HANDICAP Bm56+, 1300m
Map & tempo: moderate; pace-assisted runners get first look
Punty read: This one's got a real "who's on the button" feeling. Wing It (No.4) is drawn to do the work without getting forced into disaster, on a Good day, that's everything. Immortal Shield (No.6) is the other main threat, and Imperialize (No.1) is a value-saver if you want a wider net through place.
The roughier punts come from horses priced to be in with a chance… but the model's told you the best money goes where the pace map lines up cleanest.
Top 3 + Roughie ($22.00 pool)
1. Wing It (No.4) — $4.60 / $2.20 🏆 UNPLACED
Bet $17.00 Each Way ($8.50W + $8.50P) — ✗ Lost, net -$17.00
Prob 18.7% | Place: 66.7% | Value: 1.08x
Why Pace helps him, and his chances aren't dependent on luck, this is the "race within the race" winner.
2. Immortal Shield (No.6) — $5.00 / $2.33 🏆 WINNER
Bet Tracked
Prob 66.8% | Place: 65.3% | Value: 1.11x
Why Model has him as a prime danger, but your ticket exposure is already maxed with No.4.
3. Imperialize (No.1) — $4.40 / $2.13 🏆 UNPLACED
Bet $5.00 Place — ✗ Lost, net -$5.00
Prob 65.4% | Place: 65.3% | Value: 0.87x
Why Keeps his place chance in play; if the leaders tire, he's ready to step up.
Roughie: Kia Ora Tatou (No.7) — $14.50 / $5.50 🏆 3RD
Bet Tracked
Prob 5.3% | Place: 34.6% | Value: 0.96x
Why It's a "needs it all to go his way" play, when you're not chasing chaos, you leave those for later.
Race type: HANDICAP Bm56+, 1300m
Map & tempo: genuine pace; leaders + handy stalkers get first crack
Punty read: This is a race where the tempo decides your fate. Leading Taddy (No.2) and La Signora Dane (No.3) both look like they'll be in the thick of it, no surprise, because the speed map says so and the draw doesn't punish them too hard.
Esquel (No.4) is the value win/place profile, he can be a classic "gets clear and holds on" type. Then Crows (No.8) is your roughie: longer odds, but if the front line doesn't sprint hard enough, she can swoop late and steal your dignity back.
Top 3 + Roughie ($22.50 pool)
1. Leading Taddy (No.2) — $5.20 / $2.40 🏆 4TH
Bet $15.00 Each Way ($7.50W + $7.50P) — ✗ Lost, net -$15.00
Prob 15.8% | Place: 65.1% | Value: 1.02x
Why Best lane for a pace-involved run; should be there to finish the job rather than just to run around.
2. La Signora Dane (No.3) — $5.00 / $2.33 🏆 5TH
Bet Tracked
Prob 65.3% | Place: 65.3% | Value: 0.98x
Why Model likes her, but you don't need extra overlap when No.2 is already covering the key outcomes.
3. Esquel (No.4) — $7.00 / $3.00 🏆 2ND
Bet $7.50 Place — ✓ Won, net +$15.00
Prob 65.1% | Place: 63.0% | Value: 1.20x
Why Value profile with a fair shot at being in the right spot late, place money could be the real scoreboard here.
Roughie: Crows (No.8) — $11.50 / $4.50 🏆 UNPLACED
Bet Tracked
Prob 9.3% | Place: 54.3% | Value: 1.32x
Why Strong roughie path through a late finish, but the model wants the ticket focused on the pace-and-place anchors.
Sequence legs are the picks-engine's authoritative choice, rendered from the persisted ticket.
Smart: 1,4,3,2 / 3,6,7,9 / 4,1,6,7 / 3,2,4,8 (256 combos x $0.25 = $64.00) -- 25% flexi
The day's multi leans on three win legs across the card.
1 - Take The Field (Race 1, No.1)✗ — $2.48
2 - Tousled Crown (Race 3, No.3)✗ — $3.88
3 - Another Nephew (Race 4, No.4)✗ — $3.45

Punty's Early Mail
Rightio Loose Units, Port Hedland on a Good deck with the rail doing the job and the sun roasting everyone's brains. It's one of those days where the pace looks simple… right up until someone gets cheeky, crosses up, and turns your Trifecta into a group chat about bad decisions. Still, we've got a spine, we've got lanes, and we've got Roughies that look like they were drawn by a malfunctioning dartboard… in a good way.
MEET SNAPSHOT
Track: Good, middle-distance m card
Rail: true
Official going: Good (expected to play speed/early position)
Weather: sunny, 28°C (watch for no-rain conditions = less "mud larrikin magic", more "be handy early")
Early lane guess: get on, get handy, don't be stuck deep without cover
Tempo profile: mostly even-to-genuine early tempo; when the map says "on pace", that means something today
Jockeys to follow:
Jason Li, tends to land in the right spots; when he's on an on-pacer he's usually travelling, not guessing
Alex Hearn, steady hand for the leaders and stalkers; good for pressing without getting silly
Ms Rosie Mahony, effective when the run comes late; often has them finishing like the last episode of your favourite show
Stables to respect:
Brett Pope (13 runners), runs a lot of "on-pace" types and backs them with proper match-day intent
T N Pike (2 runners), gear tweaks and tactical riding show up; don't ignore the seconds and thirds
Timothy Pike (7 runners), knows how to season them up for the right moment, especially in open handicaps
Punty's take: This is a "Good track = respect the map" meeting. With no rain, you don't get gifted heroics from horses that need a miracle slipstream. So I'm leaning into what's already screaming: on-pace horses with clean draws, and a couple of smart roughie angles where the market's doing the wrong thing.
The rail being true makes draw/position matter more than usual. If you're too far off the speed early, you're basically asking the horse to be a superhero for the final 200m. Sometimes it works, more often it just makes you sweat.
Race 1 is your warm-up act: a maiden where Take The Field (No.1) looks like the one with the best runway into the finish, with other mid-pack runners able to fill holes if they get a good break.
Then Race 4 and Race 6 are where the handicaps get spicy: you can see the pace battles and you can also see where the market's been told a story and you'd better read the fine print.
What it means for you: Bet smart, not precious. This card gives you a couple of "be there or be square" races (think front/near-front horses) and a couple of races where the place money can be the real winner because the finish is usually messier than the opening line suggests.
My game plan: go Win where the map + draw + market shape aligns, go Place where the race shape screams "tight finish" and you don't need the lucky first-over moment to collect. And for Quaddie lanes, keep it clean-ish. We're not here to donate to chaos; we're here to fund snacks.
