TAB Same Race Multi Hcp (C1)
2000m · HANDICAP · 12:45
✗ MISS -$15 Final

Race type: C1, 2000m
Map & tempo: Slow pace, and you need the right stalking lane, Courting Emily can be first-up dangerous but it's a grind
Punty read:
Liyah's Girl is the clear headliner in a race that shapes like a slog. With a slow tempo, you want a horse that can hold position, then go again without needing to manufacture luck mid-race. Courting Emily has the kind of profile that can grab a cheeky run early (barrier helps), and if the race keeps compressing, blinkers plus clean handling is where it pays. Star Turn Dancer is there to fill the "don't get left behind" spot, while Going By Train is the roughie who needs the speed to soften enough for a late swoop to work.

Top 3 + Roughie ($15.00 pool)

1. Liyah's Girl (No.1) — $2.29 / $1.40 🏆 2ND
Bet $15.00 Win — ✗ Lost, net -$15.00
Prob 33.5% | Place: 56.2% | Value: 0.99x
Why The stalking type in a slow race, she should be in the right part of the field turning for home and then keep grinding.

2. Courting Emily (No.4) — $4.90 / $2.25 🏆 4TH
Bet Tracked
Prob 20.5% | Place: 47.0% | Value: 1.23x
Why Only two places paid in a field this size, and skinny place divvies make savers a mug's game — this is a win-only race. Tracked, not staked.

3. Star Turn Dancer (No.3) — $4.90 / $2.25 🏆 WINNER
Bet Tracked
Prob 13.6% | Place: 29.0% | Value: 0.93x
Why If the pace never really develops, she's one of the ones that can keep finding openings without needing a full sprint.

Roughie: Going By Train (No.5) — $10.75 / $3.70 🏆 UNPLACED
Bet Tracked
Prob 6.9% | Place: 17.3% | Value: 0.90x
Why Roughie path is simple, the tempo stays ugly and the rail run gives him a finishing burst.

✗ MISS -$10 Final

Race type: Bm50, 1200m
Map & tempo: Slow pace, and the speed advantage matters a heap, Showtime Maggie and Theo's Choice can both be in the pocket
Punty read:
This is a 1200m where the wrong sort of trip gets you stuck. Inna Zou is the market anchor for a reason, she's got the pattern to hit the line with confidence. Minks Written and Showtime Maggie look like the "present and correct" options, and Theo's Choice is the one that benefits when they go a real tempo but not too frantic.

Market-wise, I'm not scared of the drift story around the backmarkers, but I am scared of losing in the pocket. So I'm backing Inna Zou for the win, then respecting Minks Written and Showtime Maggie to take the gaps when the sprint gets messy.

Top 3 + Roughie ($10.50 pool)

1. Inna Zou (No.2) — $3.30 / $1.55 🏆 2ND
Bet $10.50 Win — ✗ Lost, net -$10.50
Prob 21.6% | Place: 56.2% | Value: 0.86x
Why She's the steadier speed in a slow 1200m, should get the right run without needing to win the race in the first 150m.

2. Minks Written (No.4) — $5.00 / $1.95 🏆 4TH
Bet Tracked
Prob 18.1% | Place: 56.2% | Value: 1.18x
Why A real chance — but at $1.95 the place the numbers don't give me enough edge to insure with. Watching, not betting.

3. Showtime Maggie (No.3) — $5.95 / $2.15 🏆 WINNER
Bet Tracked
Prob 14.6% | Place: 47.0% | Value: 1.15x
Why She's got the sectionals profile for this trip and the pace map suits her best work in the straight.

Roughie: Cloud Of Dust (No.7) — $9.45 / $3.00 🏆 3RD
Bet Tracked
Prob 7.7% | Place: 23.7% | Value: 0.93x
Why Needs the race to string out a touch, then she can swoop late like a getaway car.

Alpine Kitchens (Bm75)
1600m · HANDICAP · 13:55
✓ WON +$11 Final

Race type: Bm75, 1600m
Map & tempo: Genuine pace, you've got a proper race to win, and the leaders aren't strolling
Punty read:
Feazabeel is the one they've got to beat. With genuine pace on, the "sit and wait for trouble" tactics don't work as well, so you want class and the ability to keep doing the work past the halfway. Miss Stalwart becomes the obvious pressure valve from midfield, and Mighty Myrtle is the kind that can pop a cheeky run when the leaders start to tire.

Spurline is the roughie type if the tempo does its job, and Gatchan is there for the underneath, but today Feazabeel looks like the clean solution.

Top 3 + Roughie ($15.00 pool)

★ PUNTY'S PICK 1. Feazabeel (No.2) — $1.71 / $1.20 🏆 WINNER
Bet $15.00 Win — ✓ Won, net +$10.65
Prob 48.3% | Place: 69.0% | Value: 1.05x
Why With pace on, she can land comfortably and just keep rolling. This is the sort of horse that doesn't need a perfect fairy-tale trip.

2. Mighty Myrtle (No.1) — $4.30 / $1.95 🏆 2ND
Bet Tracked
Prob 17.2% | Place: 40.4% | Value: 0.92x
Why Only two places paid in a field this size, and skinny place divvies make savers a mug's game — this is a win-only race. Tracked, not staked.

3. Miss Stalwart (No.5) — $4.90 / $2.20 🏆 4TH
Bet Tracked
Prob 17.2% | Place: 42.7% | Value: 1.04x
Why She's the right class of runner to take advantage if leaders weaken early enough.

Roughie: Spurline (No.6) — $10.30 / $3.70 🏆 3RD
Bet Tracked
Prob 8.1% | Place: 19.2% | Value: 0.93x

✗ MISS -$10 Final

Race type: Mdn Hcp, 1000m
Map & tempo: Moderate pace, and at 1000m you live or die on positioning
Punty read:
Wild Romeo is the leader in a race where the leaders tend to get a really good look at the finish. Lucsain is short and dangerous, but this is 1000m and one wrong step and it turns into a demolition derby. Mr Xplode is the value menace if he's close enough early to grab the split, and Prairie Star can sneak into trifecta spots if she gets a soft passage.

Highwire Artist is the "small chance, big upset" play, Entirely Oak looks like he's still got to find the right run. This race is all about who's close enough with the field being compact.

Top 3 + Roughie ($10.50 pool)

1. Wild Romeo (No.2) — $6.00 / $1.75 🏆 UNPLACED
Bet $10.50 Each Way ($5.25W + $5.25P) — ✗ Lost, net -$10.50
Prob 26.4% | Place: 69.0% | Value: 1.58x
Why He maps for the front, and in 1000m minor places can come from one clean run in the top third of the field.

2. Lucsain (No.3) — $1.31 / $1.02 🏆 2ND
Bet Tracked
Prob 17.2% | Place: 56.6% | Value: 0.31x
Why The top pick's each-way already covers the place angle here — doubling up is paying twice for the same insurance. Tracked instead.

3. Mr Xplode (No.5) — $11.50 / $2.70 🏆 WINNER
Bet Tracked
Prob 16.7% | Place: 56.2% | Value: 2.38x
Why This is the kind of runner that can fly late if the early speed holds just long enough.

Roughie: Highwire Artist (No.8) — $16.00 / $2.85 🏆 UNPLACED
Bet Tracked
Prob 5.4% | Place: 19.2% | Value: 1.10x
Why Needs the gaps to appear and then he sticks to the job, like a sticky note on a mates forehead.

Map & tempo: Genuine pace, sprint roulette, and it's about who can keep hitting the gas
Punty read:
Inchyra and Cool Blaze are the main shows, both drawn in a way that helps them be part of the action. At 1000m, you want something that can handle the burn and still have a turn of foot late, and this race sets up for that exact sort.

She's The Key is the classy outside option to keep honest, Shaft Attack can pick up pieces if they're a touch too eager early, Prophet Time is there for late interest. Ballyhoo is the market name that's got to overcome the pace pressure and not get caught wide.

Top 3 + Roughie ($10.50 pool)

1. Inchyra (No.6) — $4.20 / $1.72 🏆 4TH
Bet $10.50 Win — ✗ Lost, net -$10.50
Prob 24.0% | Place: 69.0% | Value: 1.25x
Why He's got the pace to stay involved and the profile screams "over the top in the last 150m".

2. Cool Blaze (No.4) — $4.20 / $1.72 🏆 UNPLACED
Bet Tracked
Prob 21.8% | Place: 66.5% | Value: 1.14x

3. She's The Key (No.7) — $5.60 / $2.15 🏆 UNPLACED
Bet Tracked
Prob 17.8% | Place: 54.6% | Value: 1.15x
Why Another one that can keep rolling, especially if the leaders tire just before the turn.

Roughie: Prophet Time (No.10) — $16.00 / $3.90 🏆 3RD
Bet Tracked
Prob 4.8% | Place: 17.5% | Value: 1.01x
Why Roughie path is pace collapses slightly and he runs on into open air.

Race type: Maiden, 1300m
Map & tempo: Slow pace, so you need a clean swing into the straight
Punty read:
This is Hello G'day's kind of race. Slow tempo over 1300m often turns into a tactical kick rather than a full-speed gallop, and he profiles as the one that can lift when asked. Morosini is the value angle if the race opens up for a late run, and First Assault is there to fill the "one of these two has to sneak in" role.

Machrihanish is in the mix for place if he gets the right passage, but the main storyline is Hello G'day doing everything right from barrier 8. That's the sort of start that can be a cheat code today.

Top 3 + Roughie ($8.00 pool)

★ PUNTY'S PICK 1. Hello G'day (No.11) — $2.17 / $1.30 🏆 3RD
Bet $5.00 Win — ✗ Lost, net -$5.00
Prob 49.4% | Place: 69.0% | Value: 1.37x
Why Strong win profile for a slow 1300m, he's built to show up at the right point of the straight.

2. Morosini (No.13) — $10.50 / $2.35 🏆 6TH
Bet Tracked
Prob 10.7% | Place: 47.0% | Value: 1.66x

Bet $3.00 Place — ✓ Won, net +$6.30

Punty read:
Vella's Best is the main speed story and in a 1000m quality, speed is oxygen. Action King is the danger if the pace softens just enough for him to slot in, and My Last Hooray is the value runner who can run on through the right lane.

Dawn On Me is the roughie, and she's the one with that "place chance turning into a shock win" vibe, especially if the front line gets tired. Keikoku is the underneath for trifecta and First4 headaches.

Judith's Revenge is the big ticket at short odds and for once I'm happy to respect the obvious. Kendalia is the danger for value and place, Kool Kade is there if he can hold onto position, and Famoso is the kind that can run a cheeky race if the leaders kick early and then soften.

Tulipwood is a sneaky place chance if there's some congestion late, but Judith's Revenge is the one I want to be with if the field stays calm enough to let the best do their job.

Top 3 + Roughie ($13.00 pool)

Punty's Early Mail

Rightio Loose Units, Canberra's throwing a morning frost at us, rail's +3m entire, and the Good 4 is set to keep the honest stuff honest. This meet's got that classic vibe, where the fast lanes look obvious… right up until someone sneaks in and ruins your vibe like Darth Vader at a pie shop.

MEET SNAPSHOT

Track: Canberra, 1000-2000m card
Rail: +3m Entire
Official going: Good 4 (expected to play True, speed holds up)
Weather: Morning frost, sunny and cold, watch for slick early legs with the chill in the air
Early lane guess: Lean in early, protect the speed through the middle
Tempo profile: Mostly slowish in the early stuff, then you get your genuine burn in the later sprints
Jockeys to follow:
Nick Heywood: on the money in local sprints, and he's usually got them balanced early.
Jeff Penza: if there's chaos, he finds it, and if it's a run of luck, he's often attached to it.
Ms Jess Taylor: surgical at the 1000 to 1300 range, and the types she rides tend to keep coming.
Stables to respect:
T & P Vigouroux (1 runners): Torpedo Ted is the "maybe" horse, and they've copped drift before with their type.
N F Gardner (2 runners): Inna Zou and Kendalia are both the kind that can do a job with the right passage.
Becky Byrne (2 runners): she's got the feel for these local Canberra conditions, and her late runners often sneak into the finish.

Punty's take:

Canberra on Good 4 with a frost in the morning is basically a booby-trap for slow starters. Early speed isn't just a suggestion today, it's the whole game. The rail being +3m entire helps with straight-line running, so you want horses that can either lead clean or sit just off the speed without getting shuffled.

I'm loving the meeting's "two-speed" feel. Races 1 to 4 are where you can build a spine with the likely performers, then from Race 5 onward you've got proper sprint pressure and smaller margins. That's where Place betting earns its rent, and where a horse can look beaten at the 100m to 150m and then suddenly revive like someone paused the movie then hit play again.

My big3 multi is built on three horses that look like they're about to do the job the hard way, then finish the job clean. Feazabeel is your straight-line class act in Race 3. Hello G'day is the sort that wins races like it's supposed to. And Judith's Revenge in the finale is the main-event kingpin, the one that turns up and drags you into the light.

What it means for you:

If you're building a ticket, be aggressive where the track is simple, and be choosy where it gets messy. Early Quaddie lanes are about locking in the logical speed and class horses, then spreading just enough in the races that can go sideways at the start.

My game plan is simple: anchor the Big 3 races for your spine, don't overthink Race 3 and Race 6, and in the sprint legs (especially Race 7 and Race 8) respect that small issues, positioning, and pace can flip the whole finish. You'll also notice I'm not forcing the roughies in every race, because today's not a "hope" day. It's a "pick your moments" day.
