Candlelight Sherif is the one I'm treating like a place leverage play, because this is the sort of distance where the front end bakes, and the mid-pack who can sustain often run into the top three. This is one of those Carnarvon meetings where the track feels polite, but the races still try to run you over if you get cute. Rail True on a sunny Good deck means the inside can save ground, and the better riders won't waste it. So I'm leaning into horses that get positioned early, then keep building momentum through the straight. If you try and buy a dream from the back, you'd better be buying it at a price that hurts.
Speed is the cheat code in Race 3 and again in Race 6. Race 3 has the genuine pace, and Busy Fingers is the one I want with that sort of tempo in play. Race 6 is open enough that the favourite can still get pushed off the pegs, but I'm backing the horse that gets there first and holds it together at the business end.
Market vibes matter here too. When something firms without an obvious "why", I take notes. In this card, I like how the top of the market aligns with where the pace and running styles make sense, especially Placid Rom (Race 1) and Yes I Believe (Race 4). The rest? I'm taking shots, but I'm not donating money to "vibes".

If you're only having a small crack, do the spine, then fill with the roughies that have the most plausible "finish hard" paths. That's how you survive when the underdogs do what they do.
