✗ MISS -$9 Final

Race type: Class 1, 1000m
Map & tempo: Slow pace, backmarkers need cover then a late mow
Punty read:
This is one of those 1000m plate races where the first key is whether the speed holds. Bitta Bon Magic is the obvious map-and-class call, sitting close enough to pounce and not forced to do the whole job from last. The danger is if the leaders bunch up and the inside lane turns into a moving parking spot, because a backmarker like Spotted can miss a run before it finds one.

The Drafter (No.4) is the one I'm watching for the "outstanding place" style run. If the pace stays slow, you want the horse that can stalk midfield and keep coming, rather than the one that needs the race to fall apart.

Top 3 + Roughie ($19.00 pool)

1. Bitta Bon Magic (No.1) — $2.69 / $1.56 🏆 4TH
Bet $14.00 Win — ✗ Lost, net -$14.00
Prob 45.3% | Place: 69.0% | Value: 1.20x
Why She's the standout for this grade, and with a slow tempo she gets to hit the run home without wasting petrol early.

2. The Drafter (No.4) — $3.95 / $1.98 🏆 2ND
Bet $5.00 Place — ✓ Won, net +$4.90
Prob 23.4% | Place: 69.0% | Value: 0.91x
Why The excuses aren't loud, and the track support is there when you need it, especially from a mid-run position.

3. Maryland Bridge (No.7) — $5.21 / $2.40 🏆 WINNER
Bet Tracked
Prob 14.9% | Place: 65.3% | Value: 0.77x
Why Her run style looks capable, but the place band math gets stingy when she's not the top two in the queue.

Roughie: Spotted (No.3) — $20.00 / $7.33 🏆 6TH
Bet Tracked
Prob 3.5% | Place: 17.3% | Value: 0.69x
Why If the front pair collapse and the backmarker lane opens up, she's got a shot. Otherwise she's chasing too big a gap.

✓ WON +$51 Final

Race type: Class B, 1200m
Map & tempo: Slow pace, place leverage matters
Punty read:
Slow tempo at 1200 on a true rail means you want horses that can stay in play and not get forced into the worst part of the track. Silent Drama is the market angle for me, because the stable has the look of "this is the one we're here for", and the horse profiles like a genuine contender with the right setup.

Inquisitrix is the sneaky danger too, because place value is where she can grind through traffic and get a run late. Monkey Rat can definitely slot into the minor money if the race doesn't sprint into oblivion.

Top 3 + Roughie ($15.00 pool)

1. Silent Drama (No.2) — $4.37 / $2.12 🏆 WINNER
Bet $15.00 Win — ✓ Won, net +$50.55
Prob 29.3% | Place: 55.1% | Value: 1.28x
Why This is the win play off the right mix of class and placement, and she's the one I expect to be in the fight when the tempo finally moves.

2. Inquisitrix (No.7) — $5.59 / $2.53 🏆 4TH
Bet Tracked
Prob 20.2% | Place: 36.6% | Value: 1.13x
Why Only two places paid in a field this size, and skinny place divvies make savers a mug's game — this is a win-only race. Tracked, not staked.

3. Monkey Rat (No.5) — $5.88 / $2.63 🏆 6TH
Bet Tracked
Prob 15.4% | Place: 32.8% | Value: 0.91x
Why If she's there late, great. The bigger picture is this is more of a board watcher unless the race goes sideways.

Roughie: Shifa (No.4) — $11.49 / $4.50 🏆 5TH
Bet Tracked
Prob 6.6% | Place: 17.0% | Value: 0.76x
Why She needs things to fall perfectly. In a slow 1200 with thin place dividends, that's hard work.

✗ MISS -$15 Final

Race type: Open, 1000m
Map & tempo: Genuine pace, leaders get tested
Punty read:
This is a "speed vs speed" sprint, and Red Line Fever is the horse that looks built for it. With genuine pace on, he doesn't need to chase the race from the back like some poor bastard in a rom-com who wandered into the wrong scene.

Mr Pointer is the grinder danger, and Callie Cool is there for the classic "if the leader can't sprint away, she picks them off" scenario. But if the tempo is solid, Red Line Fever should keep that momentum and carry it to the line.

Top 3 + Roughie ($15.00 pool)

1. Red Line Fever (No.5) — $4.74 / $2.25 🏆 5TH
Bet $15.00 Win — ✗ Lost, net -$15.00
Prob 37.0% | Place: 49.7% | Value: 0.97x
Why Genuine pace plays into his style, and he's the type to hit the front then refuse to fold.

2. Callie Cool (No.3) — $9.52 / $3.84 🏆 6TH

Bet Tracked
Prob 7.3% | Place: 12.5% | Value: 0.59x

Race type: Open, 1400m
Map & tempo: Genuine pace, four to five show up then battle
Punty read:
1400m at Cobar is where the "I'll be there" horses separate from the dreamers. Broadcast Boogie is the prime story, because she can sit midfield and keep coming, and if the genuine pace shows up early, it sets the race for the ones that travel through it.

Rita Red is the value-ish danger type. Recovery Road is the leader and can absolutely hang on if the field strings out, but you've gotta respect that she's had gear changes and might be a "bring her home" play rather than a lock to tear the race apart.

Top 3 + Roughie ($15.00 pool)

1. Broadcast Boogie (No.3) — $3.02 / $1.67 🏆 2ND
Bet $15.00 Win — ✗ Lost, net -$15.00
Prob 33.4% | Place: 50.9% | Value: 0.90x
Why Pace is on, and she's the right kind of horse to keep responding late, not just touch the lead then fade.

Race type: Open, 1400m
Map & tempo: Moderate pace, midpack live, wide doesn't always doom you
Punty read:
This one's a proper "who's in the right spot when the pressure lands" race. Hemsted is the standout, because he's got enough speed to be in the race without needing everything perfect. When a horse can take control of the run home from that sort of profile on Good, you've gotta respect it.

Sidenay is the classic "value if it's not a runaway" horse. Ready For Lift Off can also make money if she gets a clear-ish run late, because she's not just a one-run wonder.

Top 3 + Roughie ($15.00 pool)

Punty read:
1700m means the race isn't over at the 600m. The Great Armada (No.2) is the headliner in terms of map and overall profile, and on a genuine pace day he should get the right kind of trip.

Proclivity (No.1) is the danger because he's one of those "could sit closer and pounce" types. Sunroe (No.5) is next in line for a cheeky finish if the leaders don't go flat out the whole way. Avoid Me (No.6) is the curveball, more for the trifecta mindset if you see the wheels come off.

Punty's Early Mail

Rightio Loose Units, Cobar on Good with the rail humming, it's that kind of day where the front usually gets first dibs, but the value sneaks in like a mate borrowing your swag without asking.

MEET SNAPSHOT

Track: Cobar, Good, 6-race card
Rail: True
Official going: Good (expected to play "speed holds on" rather than "deep closing festival")
Weather: Partly cloudy, 14°C, humidity 66%, light wind, watch for a bit of chop if the gusts rise
Early lane guess: Keep it tight in the first half of the card, then go wider in the back end where tempo gets a bit more chaos-y
Tempo profile: Slow early races, then you get genuine pace in the sprinty opens and a proper 1700m test
Jockeys to follow:
Skye Regan: she's landing on races with pace and not just floating in for a photo.
Leandro Ribeiro: when there's a trail to follow, he's great at turning a "looks hard" run into a "where the fuck did that come from" finishing burst.
Eloise Drews: loves her moments when the race shape lets the horse grind through.
Stables to respect:
Connie Greig (many runners): she's got a strong grip on these sorts of mid-low grade programs, and her horses aren't random.
A W Prisk (many runners): keep an eye on anything she sends out, especially when the gear changes line up with a map.
Kylie Kennedy (some runners): when they tiptoe through the right barriers, they tend to cash up.

Punty's take:

This meeting's basically a buffet of two genres. Races 1 to 2 want positioning, then Races 3 to 5 crank into "find the speed or get out of the way". In Good on a true rail, the ones that sit in the right lanes can keep travelling, and that wins races more often than the bloke charging from 10 deep.

The big clue across the card is how often the market lands on a clear leader type. But Cobar will still bite you if you back a short price that's drawn to get trapped behind traffic. That's why I'm backing the obvious in the first and third race, and taking the "place leverage" angle in Race 2, because the pace is slow and the run home can turn into a jockey tactics chess game.

And yes, we've got roughie energy sprinkled throughout. Spotted in Race 1 can absolutely make the quinella section go feral if the front pair don't hold the line. Then in Race 3, Red Line Fever looks like the type that's going to cop the pressure and still be there when the lights switch off.

What it means for you:

Plan your day like this: be brave with the winners that map to the right job, then protect yourself where the field size and tempo can stall the fancy plans. Race 1 and Race 3 are "lean in, don't overthink it" races. Race 2 is the opposite, because with slow tempo and thinner place chances, the smart money move is taking place value, not chasing a win divi dream.

For multis, the spine is three winners across three separate stories on the card, no fiddling, no swapping for "vibes". Then for the quaddie lanes, we go tight where the race shapes are banker-ish, and we breathe a little wider where the middle legs can turn into a demolition derby.
