Punty's Punts
Race type: Maiden, 1000m
Map & tempo: Genuine pace, profit for on-pace types, wind favours runners in front up the straight
Punty read: This one is the "who's actually going to be in the race at the right time" battle. The leaders should carve out a real sprint tempo, and that's why King Of The Road and Xtravagant Johnny are sitting in the sweet spot. Dragon Magic is the sneaky one with blinkers off, and if the market keeps backing Profit In Paradise, it's because the race might bunch and the on-pacers get a second chance. Either way, the worst thing you can do is bury yourself behind the speed and hope.
Top 3 + Roughie ($23.00 pool)

Why The on-paper control knob, and in a genuine 1000m sprint at Eagle Farm you want to be there when the door opens.
2. Xtravagant Johnny (No.10) — $3.78 / $1.57 🏆 2ND
Bet $9.00 Place — ✓ Won, net +$5.13
Prob 29.7% | Place: 69.0% | Value: 1.22x

Bet $3.00 Place — ✗ Lost, net -$3.00
Prob 10.0% | Place: 39.0% | Value: 0.93x
Why Blinkers on first time, and if there's a bit of chop in the straight she can pick up place money.
Roughie: Tommy Tie (No.11) — $10.10 / $2.90 🏆 3RD
Bet Tracked
Prob 6.2% | Place: 23.4% | Value: 1.07x
Why Needs a race-shape break and a tactical ride, but the place leverage could still bite if the favs wobble.
Race type: Maiden, 1000m
Map & tempo: Slow pace, so you want a horse that can do enough without getting stuck in the mud of the field
Punty read: Slow 1000m maidens at Eagle Farm are like a pub quiz, everybody sounds confident until it's time to actually answer. Iransofar maps to handle the scenario because the pace doesn't force him to do something silly early. Boonie Boom is the type that can just keep coming when others lose rhythm, and Sarigan is the smart place play if the field bunches up and they sprint for the line.
Top 3 + Roughie ($22.00 pool)
1. Iransofar (No.11) — $3.80 / $1.60 🏆 UNPLACED
Bet $10.50 Win — ✗ Lost, net -$10.50
Prob 26.8% | Place: 69.0% | Value: 0.78x
Why Backed into the race and can overcome the slow tempo, once they settle he's in his element.
2. Boonie Boom (No.1) — $3.27 / $1.45 🏆 WINNER
Bet $8.50 Place — ✓ Won, net +$4.25
Prob 26.0% | Place: 69.0% | Value: 0.99x

3. Sarigan (No.10) — $4.85 / $1.75 🏆 2ND
Bet $3.00 Place — ✓ Won, net +$3.00
Prob 16.2% | Place: 61.6% | Value: 0.89x
Why The in-race style fits slow tempo, and the market already knows it can be competitive late.
Roughie: Parole Denied (No.9) — $10.50 / $2.75 🏆 UNPLACED
Bet Tracked
Prob 3.6% | Place: 17.3% | Value: 0.43x
Why If it was a faster race he might run on, but slow tempo is where the value gets tighter.
Race type: Class 3, 1600m
Map & tempo: Slow pace, so the closing burst matters, but the right tactical stalk is everything
Punty read: This is your "who can stay patient, then strike clean" 1600m. Margot's Deel is the one to beat if she gets any run at all in the middle stages, while Special Artist and Our Smokeshow both scream "place with upside" because they can be forced into the right rhythm and then actually accelerate. If the race stays slow, you want horses that can swing into action without needing a fairytale gap.
Top 3 + Roughie ($19.00 pool)
1. Margot's Deel (No.7) — $1.64 / $1.03 🏆 WINNER
Bet $6.00 Win — ✓ Won, net +$3.84
Prob 34.5% | Place: 69.0% | Value: 0.70x
Why The class and the tempo setup makes it the logical first crack at the line.
2. Special Artist (No.3) — $8.30 / $1.90 🏆 UNPLACED
Bet $7.50 Place — ✗ Lost, net -$7.50
Prob 16.4% | Place: 66.1% | Value: 1.68x
Why Blinkers and tongue tie, and the slow race helps a horse that can hit the afterburners late.
3. Our Smokeshow (No.5) — $6.00 / $1.65 🏆 UNPLACED
Bet $5.50 Place — ✗ Lost, net -$5.50
Prob 16.4% | Place: 69.0% | Value: 1.22x
Why Best chance is running on into the finish, and the pace profile sets that up.
Roughie: Slipsain (No.9) — $11.50 / $2.55 🏆 3RD
Bet Tracked
Prob 6.5% | Place: 34.1% | Value: 0.92x
Why Needs a clean switch and enough room, if it's a cluttered finish he can get swallowed.
Race type: Class 1, 1800m
Map & tempo: Slow pace, so you're backing horses that can do the steady grind and still kick when asked
Punty read: This is a "middle distance manners" contest where the right horse doesn't panic. The Big Blue and Cansort look like the class of the sensible part of the field, and Cool Drinks is the speed-and-stamina type that can keep earning in a race that stays controlled. If the field doesn't blow apart early, these are the horses that get first look in the last 200m.
Top 3 + Roughie ($21.50 pool)
1. The Big Blue (No.2) — $4.15 / $1.52 🏆 5TH
Bet $8.00 Win — ✗ Lost, net -$8.00
Prob 27.4% | Place: 69.0% | Value: 1.28x
Why Maps to get the right trip and the market is treating him like a real threat, not a background extra.
2. Cansort (No.3) — $4.35 / $1.55 🏆 WINNER
Bet $9.50 Place — ✓ Won, net +$5.22
Prob 27.3% | Place: 69.0% | Value: 1.34x
Why Blinkers first time and he's built for that grind into the straight, then grabs the place.
3. Cool Drinks (No.6) — $2.35 / $1.13 🏆 4TH
Bet $4.00 Place — ✗ Lost, net -$4.00
Prob 26.1% | Place: 69.0% | Value: 0.69x
Why Short price because he's the steady-on type, and when pace is slow, he keeps finding.
Roughie: Cast Party (No.1) — $9.50 / $2.10 🏆 3RD
Bet Tracked
Prob 7.7% | Place: 28.5% | Value: 0.83x
Why More for exotics if the race gets tactical, but win is a long ask in this setup.
Race type: Maiden, 1400m
Map & tempo: Genuine pace, so being on speed is worth more than being brave
Punty read: At 1400m with genuine speed, the straight usually turns into a battle of positions, and Toobloos is the sort to benefit if he's in the right spot at the right time. Under Arrest and Had It All both look like they'll be around the finish, and that's exactly what you want in a maiden where one wrong step costs you a lot. Enjector is your roughie, but only if the leaders cough up.
Top 3 + Roughie ($20.00 pool)
1. Toobloos (No.13) — $2.50 / $1.25 🏆 2ND
Bet $7.00 Win — ✗ Lost, net -$7.00
Prob 28.7% | Place: 69.0% | Value: 1.16x
Why The profile fits the pace, and with speed on, he doesn't need to chase a miracle.
2. Had It All (No.9) — $6.85 / $1.95 🏆 4TH
Bet $10.00 Place — ✗ Lost, net -$10.00
Prob 12.3% | Place: 47.0% | Value: 0.89x
Why Place odds are the sweet spot, and if the race is run honest, he's there.
3. Under Arrest (No.5) — $6.95 / $2.45 🏆 11TH
Bet $3.00 Place — ✗ Lost, net -$3.00
Prob 11.8% | Place: 40.3% | Value: 0.89x
Why Winkers first time and he has the tactical speed to grab a share.
Roughie: Enjector (No.1) — $18.25 / $3.90 🏆 7TH
Bet Tracked
Prob 2.4% | Place: 12.2% | Value: 0.62x
Why Needs a clean run and leaders fading, otherwise he's too far back in a fast 1400m.
Race type: Benchmark 78, 1000m
Map & tempo: Genuine pace, wind helps the on-pacers and makes closing harder
Punty read: This is the race where you back the horse that looks like it's having a good time. Moulin Miss is the on-pacer and the track setup helps that style. Shako and Action King are there as the "if the leader shuffles" options, which is basically the whole game at Eagle Farm sprints with wind. If this turns into a straight-on dash, Moulin Miss is sitting on the right side of the story.
Top 3 + Roughie ($15.00 pool)
1. Moulin Miss (No.7) — $1.76 / $1.17 🏆 WINNER
Bet $15.00 Win — ✓ Won, net +$11.40
Prob 36.1% | Place: 69.0% | Value: 0.73x
Why Pace profile and Eagle Farm wind = the kind of win you want when you don't want to overthink.
2. Shako (No.5) — $6.90 / $2.60 🏆 4TH
Bet Tracked
Prob 19.0% | Place: 51.2% | Value: 1.51x
Why If Moulin Miss does something slightly wrong, Shako is the one who can capitalize.
3. Action King (No.6) — $8.20 / $3.10 🏆 2ND
Bet Tracked
Prob 15.4% | Place: 40.3% | Value: 1.46x
Why Needs a pace wobble and the gap to appear, then he's dangerous late.
Roughie: Heartoni (No.2) — $13.00 / $3.90 🏆 3RD
Bet Tracked
Prob 4.8% | Place: 12.2% | Value: 0.72x
Why Needs everything to go his way, which is fine as long as you treat him like entertainment, not a foundation.
Race type: Class 1, 1400m
Map & tempo: Slow pace, so you want stalkers and cruisers that can hit the line with purpose
Punty read: This is a handicap where the run can be won in two ways, either by being in the right spot early, or by saving petrol for the straight. Dust Cloud looks like the horse that'll be rolling forward when others are still finding their rhythm, while Teelg is set up for a smart ride and Transgress is the type to pounce if the leaders tire inside the final bend. The roughie Rosso Levanto is there for the chaos brigade if the race turns into a sprinty mess.
Top 3 + Roughie ($23.50 pool)
1. Dust Cloud (No.3) — $2.54 / $1.30 🏆 2ND
Bet $7.50 Win — ✗ Lost, net -$7.50
Prob 28.4% | Place: 69.0% | Value: 0.82x
Why On-pacer that matches the tempo, and in these C1 handicaps, the leader-friendly pattern matters.
2. Teelg (No.1) — $4.30 / $1.57 🏆 UNPLACED
Bet $8.50 Place — ✗ Lost, net -$8.50
Prob 27.2% | Place: 69.0% | Value: 1.32x
Why Drawn better than it looks, and if he gets cover, he can place with authority.
3. Transgress (No.6) — $7.30 / $2.25 🏆 UNPLACED
Bet $7.50 Place — ✗ Lost, net -$7.50
Prob 13.6% | Place: 69.0% | Value: 1.12x
Why The stalker that can swing late, especially if the race slows further than expected.
Roughie: Rosso Levanto (No.11) — $14.50 / $2.85 🏆 WINNER
Bet Tracked
Prob 4.0% | Place: 21.4% | Value: 0.66x
Why Needs gaps and timing, and if the front two hold their nerve, he's outside the party.
Race type: Benchmark 70, 1200m
Map & tempo: Short sharp dash, place leverage matters, and on-pace pressure is the game
Punty read: This is the sort of 1200m where the leaders and first movers get the best chances, but the best angle is backing the horses that keep fighting for position when others are tired. Fragile Love is drifting and still looks like a live chance for a bold run, Shelstein is the one I'd want on a day when the straight punishes late movers, and Meldubious is the sneaky "must be included" type for place. Nepravda can still sneak in the exotics if the race collapses, but he's not the anchor.
Top 3 + Roughie ($10.50 pool)
1. Fragile Love (No.5) — $5.40 / $2.05 🏆 WINNER
Bet $10.50 Each Way ($5.25W + $5.25P) — ✓ Won, net +$28.61
Prob 24.1% | Place: 55.2% | Value: 1.59x
Why Big place leverage profile and the pace scenario suits her to keep grinding late.
2. Shelstein (No.6) — $7.00 / $2.45 🏆 UNPLACED
Bet Tracked
Prob 19.0% | Place: 40.3% | Value: 1.63x
Why More of a safety-net add in your head, but the ticket is already doing enough.
3. Meldubious (No.11) — $4.10 / $1.72 🏆 UNPLACED
Bet Tracked
Prob 13.1% | Place: 44.0% | Value: 0.66x
Why Too much depends on him hitting the line perfectly, and this race hates indecision.
Roughie: Nepravda (No.7) — $10.25 / $2.90 🏆 UNPLACED
Bet Tracked
Prob 10.7% | Place: 33.5% | Value: 1.35x
Why If the pace collapses he can run home, but otherwise he's fighting uphill in a sharp 1200m.
Sequence legs are the picks-engine's authoritative choice, rendered from the persisted ticket.

Punty's Early Mail
Rightio Loose Units, Eagle Farm on a Good 4 with the rail out at 10.5m, wind slicing you in the straight like a lawnmower through a doona cover. Translation, if you're on the speed you get first dibs at the finish, and if you're a closer, you better have a bloody passport for the gap you're chasing.
Today's card screams "pace does the talking", especially at the sprint trips where one mistake at the start turns the rest of your run into a comedy sketch. The early races look like they'll be run with intent, and the markets are already getting jumpy in the maiden stuff, which usually means someone's about to pop up with the right run at the right time, cheeky as.
My spine for the day is simple, big three across different races, then a multi that tries to walk like a well-trained unit through the whole meeting. After that, it's race-by-race vibes, top three where it's logical, and a roughie where the price still has a pulse. Let's go.
MEET SNAPSHOT
Track: Good 4, 1000m to 1600m card
Rail: 10.5m Entire Course
Official going: Good 4 (expected to play Front-runners and stalkers)
Weather: Partly cloudy, 17°C, moderate SW wind, watch for on-pace runners keeping their composure into the straight
Early lane guess: The speed on wide-ish draws, then holding on for dear life through the last 100m
Tempo profile: Mixed, but the sprint races look genuine enough that sitting mid-pack is a lottery ticket you did not buy
Jockeys to follow:
Corey Sutherland: Keeps getting their noses down at the right time, and horses with confidence tend to show up in market movement
Michael Rodd: Loads up for the right moment, and if the pace is there he turns it into a sprint raffle
Jag Guthmann-Chester: When Jag commits, the horse usually comes with him, today he looks set to be involved
Stables to respect:
K M Schweida (3 runners): More than one string in the early stuff, and their horses are showing enough to warrant trust
T J Gollan (2 runners): They keep targeting these sprint windows, and when they take the market, they usually mean it
Chris & Corey Munce (3 runners): They're popping up across classes, and the horses keep showing fight in the run
Punty's take: Eagle Farm today is the kind of track where the front section gets rewarded, especially with that SW wind helping the on-pace brigade up the straight. You can basically picture the finish line as a door that only opens for horses that arrive with momentum, not those arriving with apologies. So in the early sprints, I'm prioritising the horses that map to be involved, and the ones with market support because beginners and maidens love to bite you when you ignore the vibe.
Race 1 is a classic "speed vs the chaos tax" maiden. King Of The Road looks like the control knob for the whole field, but Xtravagant Johnny is right there to pick up the tab if the race shape bunches and turns into a dash. After that, Race 3 is your big-money mood swing, because Margot's Deel looks like the type to get first crack at the rail run, while Special Artist and Our Smokeshow are the ones who can sprint through the gaps like villains in a Marvel mid-credits scene.
From there, it's a sequence of "watch the leaders, then respect the value when they don't quite lead alone." By Race 6 and Race 8, the pace and place patterns get real, and that's where we lean into the right sort of pressure and avoid betting like a passenger in a getaway car.
What it means for you: Be aggressive early in the races that match the on-pace picture, especially Race 1 and Race 6. Don't overthink the sprints when the track is doing you favours, just make sure your selections are where the race is going. Also, when the market is heavily firming a horse, that's not vibes, that's a signal. If you back the right one, the rail wind does the rest of the work.
For the exotics, I'm keeping it sane. The model is already telling us where the value is, and the roughies are there for the "if pace breaks" scenarios, not for reckless gambling. If you want the cleanest day, follow the Big 3 plus multi spine, then sprinkle into the top-three tries for each race. No heroics, just good horsemanship and a bit of cheek. Gamble smart, and if you miss, at least you missed with a plan, not with hope.
