✗ MISS -$15 Final

Race type: Class 2, 1400m
Map & tempo: Slow Pace; Wrigley Field can be ridden hands-and-feet late when the leaders don't fly
Punty read:
This race is a "don't get lost chasing fireworks" job. Pace is slow, so anyone trying to make up ground from too far back becomes a hero or a myth. Wrigley Field (No.3) is a legit chance because he's set up to improve with blinkers off-to-on. When a horse is straightened and focused late, the Coast line comes up quick. Bollinger Miss (No.5) is the other one who looks like she'll be around the finish, same with Gambino (No.4) if he doesn't get slow-started into trouble again.

Top 3 + Roughie ($15.00 pool)

1. Wrigley Field (No.3) — $2.75 / $1.40 🏆 2ND
Bet $15.00 Win — ✗ Lost, net -$15.00
Prob 41.3% | Place: 65.4% | Value: 1.32x
Why Slow tempo suits a late punch; blinkers are the spark and he's ready off a fresh prep.

2. Bollinger Miss (No.5) — $3.20 / $1.60 🏆 3RD
Bet Tracked
Why She's a backmarker who finds the line, but the betting setup is basically telling you to just back the standout.

3. Gambino (No.4) — $4.20 / $1.90 🏆 WINNER
Bet Tracked
Why Each-way player type, but today the lane's about backing the strongest profile.

Roughie: In Great Spirit (No.10) — $20.00 / $4.20 🏆 5TH
Bet Tracked
Prob 5.3% | Place: 25.1% | Value: 1.25x
Why Needs everything to break his way; better as a "watch it run" moment.

✗ MISS -$20 Final

Race type: Maiden, 1200m
Map & tempo: Genuine Pace; don't waste ground, ride the speed through
Punty read:
Maiden chaos at 1200m is always spicy, especially with this pace profile. The race sets up for horses that can get involved early and don't have to sprint from the last page of the form. Yattazou (No.13) has market gravity for a reason: he looks like the kind that can park close and hit the business section of the track at the right time. Torque So Hot (No.1) is the value play in the "he can actually win" department, while Secret Rose (No.14) is the kind of improver that can grab a slice if the race compresses.

Top 3 + Roughie ($20.00 pool)

1. Yattazou (No.13) — $2.50 / $1.32 🏆 2ND
Bet $7.50 Win — ✗ Lost, net -$7.50
Prob 36.3% | Place: 95.0% | Value: 0.95x
Why Market's not shy, and the pace helps him settle close enough to strike late without burning out.

2. Torque So Hot (No.1) — $5.10 / $1.90 🏆 7TH
Bet $10.00 Place — ✗ Lost, net -$10.00
Prob 17.4% | Place: 67.0% | Value: 1.43x
Why He's got the "on-speed, keep going" profile; he doesn't need to lead to cash in the placings.

3. Secret Rose (No.14) — $4.30 / $1.72 🏆 4TH
Bet $2.50 Place — ✗ Lost, net -$2.50
Prob 15.7% | Place: 67.0% | Value: 1.36x
Why Backmarker style but the late section is where she usually switches on, place is the sweet spot.

Roughie: Best Eagle (No.5) — $19.00 / $3.90 🏆 3RD
Bet Tracked
Prob 3.8% | Place: 34.0% | Value: 0.49x
Why He needs a big run and the pace to collapse in a very specific way.

Race type: Benchmark 68, 1800m
Map & tempo: Genuine Pace; 1800m means the fight stays on through the middle stages
Punty read:
This is where the "held up last time" stories start sounding like cold beer you forgot was in the fridge. Sarah's Sonnets (No.8) is the model's top, she's the kind that can sit in range and not panic when the pace is real. Old Song (No.5) is the value-ish each-way type, and Watermelon (No.1) has the excuse-to-cash angle after being shuffled/interfered with on the bigger trip.

And the danger is O'caldino (No.4) as the roughie, he's got enough talent that when he's not getting his way, the market can punish him… then the penny drops at the finish.

Top 3 + Roughie ($20.50 pool)

1. Sarah's Sonnets (No.8) — $3.38 / $1.45 🏆 2ND
Bet $5.00 Win — ✗ Lost, net -$5.00
Prob 25.5% | Place: 65.2% | Value: 1.04x
Why She's built for this trip, stays involved, doesn't need the race to be perfect, just needs the gaps.

2. Old Song (No.5) — $5.60 / $1.82 🏆 WINNER
Bet $10.00 Place — ✓ Won, net +$10.00
Prob 13.6% | Place: 63.1% | Value: 0.92x
Why Each-way profile: stays classy through the run and finds the line when others tire.

3. Watermelon (No.1) — $6.20 / $1.90 🏆 4TH
Bet $5.50 Place — ✗ Lost, net -$5.50
Prob 13.5% | Place: 65.0% | Value: 1.01x

Roughie: O'caldino (No.4) — $9.50 / $2.65 🏆 UNPLACED
Bet Tracked
Prob 9.5% | Place: 43.0% | Value: 1.09x

Race type: Open Handicap, 1400m
Map & tempo: Moderate Pace; on-pacers can control without getting stranded
Punty read:
Edited By (No.1) is your pace-and-class answer. This isn't a race for dreamers that need everything to go right, they need to be in the right part of the track early. Edited By profiles like a horse who'll travel and then actually finish, and second-up often separates the pretenders from the real blokes. Living Free (No.2) is the obvious each-way style, and Ikasara (No.6) is the "don't ignore him when the market gets weird" option.

Zambezi Khan (No.5) is the roughie because he can run a big one, but he's also the sort of horse that tends to need a specific run.

Top 3 + Roughie ($15.00 pool)

1. Edited By (No.1) — $2.27 / $1.40 🏆 6TH
Bet $15.00 Win — ✗ Lost, net -$15.00
Prob 40.1% | Place: 66.9% | Value: 1.09x
Why Second-up fit, on-pace map, and the market backing says the stable expects him to run well.

2. Living Free (No.2) — $3.70 / $1.80 🏆 WINNER

Why He's consistent, but the field size and payout structure are screaming "back the top guy".

3. Ikasara (No.6) — $4.90 / $2.25 🏆 2ND

Race type: Handicap, 1000m
Map & tempo: Hot Pace; sprint race = speed survives and late movers need luck
Punty read:
This is 1000m where the race is decided before your toast pops. Sort Cha Mess (No.4) is the standout by pattern: he shows speed and the map says he can be in it right away. Coincide (No.2) is value in the place department because he has the credentials to hold a spot through the quick sections, and Jeans (No.8) is the kind of runner that can land in the finish if the leaders don't go full blender.

Rouge Angel (No.11) is the roughie because, yeah, she can absolutely run a cheeky third/fourth and make you feel clever for a day.

Top 3 + Roughie ($18.00 pool)

Punty read:
Exuberance (No.9) is the market fave and I get why, he's sharp and he's got that "can hit the line" profile. But the model's telling you to be on Spirit Of Brodie (No.1) as the main play, and I'm with it: he's strung together strong on-pace runs and looks like he can keep finding sections without dying late.

Eagle's Fire (No.11) is the roughie, this bloke can jump up and surprise if the race tempo plays into his favour. And Count Nicholas (No.2) is a place option if you want coverage of the "on-speed but not top dog" lane.

Top 3 + Roughie ($19.00 pool)

Punty read:
This race is a proper 1000m "who's brave early" contest. The model is looking at American Conquest (No.2) as a leading threat and that makes sense, he's got the profile to sit closer than most and then keep grinding. Zousain's Choice (No.4) is right there too, while Seams Logical (No.1) has the "can park and finish" vibe.

Charlie Tango (No.7) as the roughie is interesting: if there's any hesitation from the front runners, he can come into the frame late and steal a piece.

Rock Hard Love (No.2) is the obvious leader in the story, gets in a good rhythm and can run the race honestly. Winchman (No.4) and Tribbiani (No.6) are your technical dangers: they're the types that keep finding and get you in the middle of the trifecta/saver dream.

Araletta (No.8) is the sneaky one for place pressure and can run into it if the leaders don't go full steam. Destinys Summit (No.9) is the roughie because she's the kind that can pop in the right chaos, bit of luck, big finish, and suddenly everyone's screaming at the ticket clerk.

Punty's Early Mail

Rightio Legends, Good 4 at the Coast where the speed don't politely ask for permission and the rail's got you thinking you can take a shortcut… but you probably can't. This card's got a few "this is where the story starts" races early, then it turns into a chaos buffet from mid-meeting onwards. We're taking the sensible spine where we can, then spreading a little like Vegemite on toast when the value starts talking back.

I'm not here to be cute. I'm here to get you on the right rhythm: on-pace horses that can actually hold their ground, plus the odd one that's drifted enough to make you ask, "why's everyone suddenly forgotten this bloke can run?" That's where the sneaky money lives.

MEET SNAPSHOT

Track: Gold Coast, 800m, 1800m card
Rail: +1m 1000, W/Post; True Remainder
Official going: Good 4 (expected to play Firm/true with some dash-and-stamina balance)
Weather: Partly cloudy, 20°C, light ENE wind (watch for a bit of crosswind stress for wide runners, especially early)
Early lane guess: Slightly through-the-middle bias (wind's not savage, but wide still pays a penalty)
Tempo profile: Slow-ish early (Race 1), then more genuine pace in the middle (1200/1000s), with sprints where the leaders get first dibs
Jockeys to follow:
Brandon Lerena, gets on-speed and tends to make it look easy
Karl Zechner, handles the awkward stuff and upgrades mid-race
Fred Larson, steady hands; if they're in front early, he's usually there at the end
Stables to respect:
Michael Freedman (1 runners), typically aggressive with match-ups; if they're short, you listen
Ben Hull (1 runners), can get them ready fast in maidens; trials matter with this outfit
Jack Bruce (1 runners), knows how to spring first preps and squeeze extra from the good ones

Punty's take:

Race 1 is your "watch the blinkers and watch the lanes" opener. Wrigley Field (No.3) maps to work through the race with enough class and with blinkers on first time, those are the kind of gear changes that can turn "placed on vibes" into "bolted in" by the line. And because the pace is slow, the Coast crowd will be tempted to overthink the backmarkers… don't. If you're on the best horse with the right running pattern, it's way less complicated than it looks.

Then we roll into the chaos zone: Race 2 (maiden) is basically a pack of hungry cats with different vibes. It's genuine pace, and when that happens at 1200m, your best bet is to stick to the ones that look like they'll get position without wasting fuel. Race 3 at 1800m is a different kettle of fish, this is where the finish matters and "held up last time" excuses usually turn into "oh shit, that's my winner" moments.

What it means for you:

Be aggressive where the model is confident and the race shape supports it, early speed and proven trip. That's why Race 1 and Race 4 are your foundation blocks. For the rest, treat it like a street fight: you back your favourites, sure, but you also respect the runners that can make up ground if the pace goes slightly wrong. And remember: on a Good 4, held-up runs often come back as strong runs, so if the horse has the right pattern and the market move is loud, that's when you protect your ticket with a place or a straight win line.

If you're building a Quaddie/Big 6, you'll want to keep your "tight legs" for the clearer races (think odds-friendly winners) and widen only where the field and pace shape can justify it. Don't go full degenerate on every open leg, this isn't the Hunger Games. It's the Coast.
