1100m · MAIDEN · 13:50
✗ MISS -$15 Final

Race type: MAIDEN, 1100m
Map & tempo: Genuine Pace, My Ju Ju is built to hold the front
Punty read:
This is a sprint where the leader gets every chance to put a line through the rest. My Ju Ju's on barrier 1 and maps to control, so if he pings and doesn't get stuck racing in quicksand, he's the one that turns this into a simple job. Angel Hair looks like the sort that can place if the race loosens up, but Benson and Sacred Vow are the "hope the leaders weaken late" crew. On a Soft 6, that trailing wall can cost you, so I'm with the horse that gets to dictate where the sprint gets played.

Top 3 + Roughie ($15.00 pool)

★ PUNTY'S PICK 1. My Ju Ju (No.2) — $6.50 / $2.05 🏆 3RD
Bet $15.00 Win — ✗ Lost, net -$15.00
Prob 44.0% | Place: 70.0% | Value: 3.17x
Why Barrier 1, maps to lead, and with genuine early tempo the Soft 6 still rewards horses who get an easy rhythm.

Roughie: Southern Grace (No.4) — $11.00 / $3.30 🏆 4TH
Bet Tracked
Prob 6.7% | Place: 22.3% | Value: 0.52x
Why Roughie path is real if the favourites falter, but I'd rather bet the map advantage.

✗ MISS -$10 Final

Race type: BENCHMARK 64, 1300m
Map & tempo: Moderate Pace, Imperial Royale and Fast Track can keep things honest
Punty read:
This is a classic benchmark where you want the horse that can maintain position through the slog and still have a kick when the pack compresses. Imperial Royale is short for a reason, he's on-pace and has been through the motions recently without needing miracles. Fast Track is the value look if he holds his early spot, Bright Promise has class enough to be dangerous with a clean run, and Ahellbenda is the one that could clunk into the finish if the race chops up.

Top 3 + Roughie ($10.50 pool)

★ PUNTY'S PICK 1. Imperial Royale (No.5) — $2.85 / $1.30 🏆 UNPLACED
Bet $10.50 Win — ✗ Lost, net -$10.50
Prob 35.8% | Place: 70.0% | Value: 1.18x
Why On-pace type in a moderate tempo race, he's got the best chance to keep rolling through the middle stages.

Roughie: Ahellbenda (No.2) — $11.00 / $2.25 🏆 UNPLACED
Bet Tracked
Prob 8.7% | Place: 38.8% | Value: 1.04x
Why If he gets the soft trip, he's a live option, but today I want the cleaner stories.

✗ MISS -$15 Final

Race type: BENCHMARK 64, 1300m
Map & tempo: Genuine Pace, Who But Roo and Stallone are the two-way engines
Punty read:
This is that race where two horses set up the whole party. Who But Roo is on-pace and Stallone is close enough to sniff the lead, so you're basically backing a duel and hoping it doesn't fall apart into chaos. Wormington gets his chance if they come back a touch too much, Royal Corporal needs everything to go his way, and Edge Of Midnight is the longshot puncher if the pace drops off late.

Top 3 + Roughie ($15.00 pool)

1. Who But Roo (No.3) — $5.00 / $1.80 🏆 4TH
Bet $15.00 Win — ✗ Lost, net -$15.00
Prob 33.7% | Place: 53.2% | Value: 2.03x
Why On-pace runner in genuine tempo, and the Soft 6 shouldn't stop him from keeping momentum.

Roughie: Edge Of Midnight (No.5) — $21.00 / $4.60 🏆 3RD
Bet Tracked
Prob 3.2% | Place: 9.8% | Value: 0.80x
Why He's got the roughie path if pace collapses, but it's a big ask.

✓ WON +$42 Final

Race type: MAIDEN, 1600m
Map & tempo: Genuine Pace, more room for late plays but the front won't be far away
Punty read:
1600m on a Soft 6 means you can still lose ground early, but you've also got time for the race to unfold properly. Your Attitude is the standout pick to do it, because the race shape should suit him to be involved, and the market has him sitting right in the firing line. I Am Dynasty and Victorious Ruler are both the sort that can do the right things, March looks like the type to hit the line if the tempo stays genuine, and Kawerau is your value wild card if she gets the right run through the middle.

Top 3 + Roughie ($10.50 pool)

1. Your Attitude (No.11) — $5.00 / $2.00 🏆 WINNER
Bet $10.50 Win — ✓ Won, net +$42.00
Prob 22.5% | Place: 61.5% | Value: 1.90x
Why Maiden class with pace to suit, and the bigger finishing ground on Soft 6 makes him hard to ignore.

Roughie: Kawerau (No.2) — $18.00 / $4.00 🏆 5TH
Bet Tracked
Prob 8.5% | Place: 32.8% | Value: 1.10x
Why Soft 6 and 1600m can turn into a value-fest for the right middle draw, and Kawerau has the profile to sneak into the money.

✗ MISS -$15 Final

Race type: BENCHMARK 64, 2000m
Map & tempo: Slow Pace, Valentiago is the sort to stalk and convert
Punty read:
2000m on a Soft 6 with a slow tempo is where you want a horse that can keep saving ground and then strike without wasting petrol. Valentiago is the one for me, he's in the midfield, but in slow races you don't need to be a leader, you need to be the one who can actually quicken. Savvy Spy and Satono's Shout are the logical dangers, but Binkou is the roughie with the upside if the race turns into a long sprint late.

Top 3 + Roughie ($15.00 pool)

1. Valentiago (No.1) — $4.60 / $1.75 🏆 3RD
Bet $15.00 Win — ✗ Lost, net -$15.00
Prob 32.3% | Place: 53.6% | Value: 1.81x
Why Slow pace race, Valentiago can sit close enough and then roll through the finish when others are still setting up.

Roughie: Binkou (No.7) — $18.00 / $4.60 🏆 UNPLACED
Bet Tracked
Prob 3.6% | Place: 11.6% | Value: 0.74x
Why Roughie play only if the leaders completely die off, and he gets a clean late run.

✗ MISS -$10 Final

Race type: CLASS 1, 1500m
Map & tempo: Slow Pace, Bang On Time is the engine with a save and go plan
Punty read:
If this goes slow early, the smart horses are the ones who can hit the transition points without burning out. Bang On Time fits that exact mould. He can sit where he needs to, then you want that honest runner to keep finding on a Soft 6 where the kick is often more about balance than brute speed. Prince De Vega is the danger if they stretch him, Ribble Lace is a roughie option if the pace falls apart, and Blue Eyed Brigid is the one that can be live if the race opens up late.

Top 3 + Roughie ($10.50 pool)

★ PUNTY'S PICK 1. Bang On Time (No.1) — $2.60 / $1.22 🏆 5TH
Bet $10.50 Each Way ($5.25W + $5.25P) — ✗ Lost, net -$10.50
Prob 39.0% | Place: 70.0% | Value: 1.26x
Why Slow tempo on Soft 6, he can secure the right trip and keep rolling, exactly the kind of race where Each Way makes sense.

Roughie: Ribble Lace (No.2) — $11.00 / $2.55 🏆 9TH
Bet Tracked
Prob 8.1% | Place: 38.8% | Value: 1.12x

✗ MISS -$10 Final

Race type: BENCHMARK 68, 1500m
Map & tempo: Slow Pace, this is a place-getters versus late-movers showdown
Punty read:
This race on a Soft 6 is a patience test. Slow early means the backmarkers can get their chance, but it also means the leaders can still hang on if the finishing burst doesn't come. Dances With Hooves is the pick because he's well placed to grab the right run and keep working late. Malbork Castle and Kingston Charm can absolutely take your breath away with a better timing job, Showmara has a wet-track chance, and Uncle Harry is the roughie that needs the right gaps to appear.

Top 3 + Roughie ($10.44 pool)

1. Dances With Hooves (No.3) — $9.00 / $2.75 🏆 7TH
Bet $10.44 Win — ✗ Lost, net -$10.44
Prob 22.0% | Place: 46.1% | Value: 2.35x
Why In a slow race the best ones keep it together and then wind up, and this one is set for that finish fight.

Roughie: Uncle Harry (No.10) — $13.00 / $4.00 🏆 5TH
Bet Tracked
Prob 5.7% | Place: 17.8% | Value: 0.90x
Why Roughie path is real if he gets the run, but this is still a competitive finish for the value lanes.

Punty's Early Mail

Rightio Loose Units, Hawkesbury on a Soft 6 with showers crawling in like a slow-mo horror movie sequel, and everyone's pretending they love being under a wet blanket. The rail's got that +2m at the sprinty bits, the leaders should still have a say, and with 22 scratchings today across the day we're gonna get some weird race shapes. That's when the cash gets made. Or lost with dignity. Depends how spicy you are.

MEET SNAPSHOT

Track: Hawkesbury, 1100-1500m card
Rail: +2m 1100m to 450m, True remainder
Official going: Soft 6 (expected to play Soft, rain-boosted with a kickback effect)
Weather: Showers increasing, 15C, humidity 82%, wind 11km/h ENE (watch for late drizzle risk)
Early lane guess: Leaders hold sway early, then it's a long finishing scramble along the lanes that still have a grip
Tempo profile: Genuine to moderate early speed, then the question is who can keep it together when the track turns sticky
Jockeys to follow:
Ms Siena Grima: gets on with it, and if the track gets tacky she usually has a plan
Deon Le Roux: fast off the mark type, mapping matters and he chases the right spots
Kerrin McEvoy: when the race demands a smooth hand late, he tends to deliver
Stables to respect:
C J Waller (4 runners): Hawkesbury prep at its best, especially when they add blinkers first up
Richard Litt (4 runners): they're not shy to have a go, and the midweek work often turns into raceday timing
K J Parker (3 runners): watch for horses that need position early, because they'll push for it

Punty's take:

This meeting is basically a pace jigsaw. You've got Soft 6 slowing things down, but the rain is still doing its little sabotage act from about now through the night sessions. That means the "on the speed" horses keep getting their chance, and the ones who get stuck doing extra work are the ones that get punished late. So yeah, I'm chasing map fit, clean trips, and the horses that actually look like they want to go around.

The story spine today is simple: Race 1 leader vibes, Race 2 and Race 6 are built for the win lanes, and later races are where you can get clever with place value when the tempo changes. If you're going to be brave, be brave in the right races, with the right horses. Not just because the colour of the silks looks nice. (That's how mug punters get stung.)

Big picture, the biggest "don't overthink it" angle is this, when it's Soft and the pace is set up properly, the favourites that are actually positioned to take advantage should do enough. The value shows up when the market drifts or when blinkers and wet-track handling line up with the barrier and map.

What it means for you:

Be aggressive early in the races where the leaders are protected by the tempo. In Race 1, My Ju Ju maps to control the race story, so you don't need to be a hero with longshots. In Race 2, Imperial Royale is the one that can keep going without getting trapped behind the wrong horses. And in Race 6, Bang On Time is your "go now, keep going" type, so if you're looking for an Each Way spine, start there.

For the rest of the day, I'm protecting against the classic Soft 6 trap. Horses that are drifting in the market, or horses that have to weave through trouble, can get stuffed if the track goes dead in the last 200. So I'll still take the Top 3 and the roughie where we've got the best path, but I'm not forcing place divers unless the race setup screams it. If the pace gets genuine, stay with the on-pace types. If it turns into a slow grind, then we look for the ones that can quicken off a position.
