Punty's Punts
Race type: Maiden, 1000m
Map & tempo: Moderate Pace, leaders Twister and Villa Grande, on-pace horses get first crack at the finish
Punty read: Zercardy is the one I want in this race because Soft 5 at 1000m is basically about who can stay balanced while others start to slide. With Zercardy drawn for a clean run and gear changes for attention, it should be stalking just off the leaders or even sitting handy. Villa Grande brings the form that suggests it can run the right section, and Acharnee is the chaos bolt for a gap run, especially if the race tightens and the inside gets sticky.
Top 3 + Roughie ($15.00 pool)
★ PUNTY'S PICK 1. Zercardy (No.7) — $2.80 / $1.32 🏆 3RD
Bet $15.00 Win — ✗ Lost, net -$15.00
Prob 36.1% | Place: 70.0% | Value: 1.51x
Why Soft 5 sprint fits the on-pace style, and the gear stack screams intent.
2. Villa Grande (No.11) — $2.60 / $1.30 🏆 2ND
Bet Tracked
Prob 25.2% | Place: 70.0% | Value: 0.64x
Why A real chance — but at $1.30 the place the numbers don't give me enough edge to insure with. Watching, not betting.
3. Acharnee (No.8) — $5.00 / $1.75 🏆 4TH
Bet Tracked
Prob 14.0% | Place: 46.1% | Value: 0.69x
Why Place hope only if it lands in the right lane, then sneaks into the finish.
Roughie: Niccotein (No.3) — $9.80 / $2.30 🏆 5TH
Bet Tracked
Prob 9.6% | Place: 38.9% | Value: 1.08x
Why If the speed collapses, this one swoops late with the wet ground doing favours.
Race type: Maiden, 1300m
Map & tempo: Slow Pace, Champagne Sabre and Stomping Ground get every chance early
Punty read: This one is set up for the patient types, slow tempo means you can get boxed, and that's where the map matters. Black Aces is drawn to take a position without being panicked early, and when they're coming off runs where they found traffic, you can see why it's a live threat. Semper Augustus and Prestige Erick look like the classic "place and then maybe win if it unravels" types, while Ocean Surge is there for the late dash if the speed holds on.
Top 3 + Roughie ($13.00 pool)
1. Black Aces (No.2) — $4.40 / $1.82 🏆 WINNER
Bet $13.00 Win — ✓ Won, net +$44.20
Prob 20.6% | Place: 70.0% | Value: 1.04x
Why Slow race, backmarker map can still land close, and it's the type to pop late.
2. Semper Augustus (No.9) — $3.70 / $1.65 🏆 7TH
Bet Tracked
Prob 17.3% | Place: 54.4% | Value: 0.49x

Bet Tracked
Prob 16.7% | Place: 53.7% | Value: 0.71x
Why Form says it can hang around, but I need a clearer value angle.
Roughie: Prince Iadora (No.6) — $11.50 / $3.10 🏆 5TH
Bet Tracked
Prob 6.7% | Place: 32.7% | Value: 0.83x
Why Needs the right gap, and slow tempo can steal opportunities from midfield runners.
Race type: Maiden, 1700m
Map & tempo: Slow Pace, Cowboykickedfive is the one who can drive the tempo early
Punty read: Slow 1700 is where the race becomes a chessboard, the turn gives you time to plot, and the Soft 5 makes every mistake costly. Girl With A Pearl is the favourite on my list because it's drawn to get position and it looks ready to move late without needing the whole track. Who I Think I Am is the danger, it's the one that can grind through and suddenly be right there at the line. Paramount War is the value in the middle, especially if the others get too comfy and it gets a nicer run through.
Top 3 + Roughie ($13.00 pool)
1. Girl With A Pearl (No.11) — $3.60 / $1.65 🏆 2ND
Bet $13.00 Win — ✗ Lost, net -$13.00
Prob 25.3% | Place: 70.0% | Value: 1.27x
Why Suits slow tempo, soft ground, and the late-run blueprint fits this mile-and-a-bit.
2. Who I Think I Am (No.7) — $3.90 / $1.72 🏆 WINNER
Bet Tracked
Prob 19.7% | Place: 54.1% | Value: 0.62x

Bet Tracked
Prob 11.8% | Place: 38.9% | Value: 0.73x
Why If traffic clears, it can run through the field and land in the finish picture.
Roughie: Cowboykickedfive (No.1) — $12.50 / $3.00 🏆 7TH
Bet Tracked
Prob 7.1% | Place: 32.7% | Value: 0.94x
Why Needs the tempo to suit, and slow races can turn into sprint finishes at the wrong time.
Race type: Maiden, 2000m
Map & tempo: Slow Pace, Princess Chic has the early advantage but it's a long grind after
Punty read: 2000m on Soft 5 is basically survival plus patience. Mack The Knife is the one to trust because it has the feel of a horse that can control the race when others are saving something for later that never comes. Endless Fury is your second-act danger if it gets room at the turn, Winter Arc is there for the place result if it's traveling and doesn't get swallowed up, and Ideas Galore is the wide-run headache option.
Top 3 + Roughie ($13.00 pool)
★ PUNTY'S PICK 1. Mack The Knife (No.10) — $2.20 / $1.22 🏆 4TH
Bet $13.00 Win — ✗ Lost, net -$13.00
Prob 36.3% | Place: 70.0% | Value: 1.03x
Why Best profile for this distance and Soft 5, plus it maps to get every chance.
2. Endless Fury (No.12) — $3.40 / $1.55 🏆 WINNER
Bet Tracked
Prob 25.6% | Place: 59.3% | Value: 1.07x

3. Winter Arc (No.11) — $5.00 / $1.82 🏆 2ND
Bet Tracked
Prob 11.9% | Place: 46.1% | Value: 0.57x
Why Place only if it can keep momentum on the softer surface.
Roughie: Ideas Galore (No.7) — $17.00 / $3.70 🏆 11TH
Bet Tracked
Prob 6.3% | Place: 27.8% | Value: 1.60x
Why Needs an open lane miracle, but this price profile makes it dangerous if the race strings out.
Race type: BM62, 1400m
Map & tempo: Slow Pace, a race that rewards patience and finishing runs
Punty read: BM62 at 1400 on Soft 5 is all about who can nick the gaps late without wasting ground early. High Falls has the tactical profile for this race, Ataegina is the grinder who can hit the line, and Shades Of Stardom is the one I respect for place value if the tempo stays slow. Fully Justified is the sort that can move forward at the right time, but the top three give you the best mix of map and finishing ability.
Top 3 + Roughie ($10.50 pool)
1. High Falls (No.7) — $3.60 / $1.62 🏆 WINNER
Bet $10.50 Win — ✓ Won, net +$27.30
Prob 24.6% | Place: 55.0% | Value: 0.93x
Why Soft 5 suits its style, and with slow tempo it can just sit and pounce.
2. Ataegina (No.10) — $4.80 / $1.65 🏆 UNPLACED

3. Shades Of Stardom (No.9) — $10.00 / $3.00 🏆 3RD
Bet Tracked
Prob 15.0% | Place: 46.1% | Value: 1.64x
Why If it stays in the hunt, it's a place saver, but win is a tougher ask.
Roughie: Raven's Silver (No.8) — $9.80 / $2.55 🏆 UNPLACED
Bet Tracked
Prob 7.1% | Place: 28.0% | Value: 0.81x
Why Needs the right late run, and Soft 5 can turn into a quagmire for backmarkers if they get trapped.
Race type: BM62, 1200m
Map & tempo: Moderate Pace, Stolen Art could set it up for the on-pace crew
Punty read: 1200m on Soft 5, you want position early because the ground slows everything down. King West has the profile to keep coming and is built for a race where the pace doesn't explode. Icy Pole is right there in the mix for a forward showing, and Buzitup has the wet-ground confidence to run on strong. Port Louis is in the midfield but I'm treating it like an efficiency test, if it saves ground and finds a seam, it's a trouble-maker.
Top 3 + Roughie ($15.00 pool)
1. King West (No.2) — $3.90 / $1.70 🏆 3RD
Bet $15.00 Win — ✗ Lost, net -$15.00
Prob 26.3% | Place: 59.4% | Value: 1.22x
Why Right style for this trip, and it's the one I want front-to-mid in a Soft 5 sprint.
2. Icy Pole (No.9) — $4.80 / $1.85 🏆 5TH
Bet Tracked
Prob 22.5% | Place: 46.1% | Value: 1.29x

3. Buzitup (No.7) — $6.60 / $1.90 🏆 WINNER
Bet Tracked
Prob 15.6% | Place: 38.9% | Value: 1.19x
Why If the race opens up, it can run through the line.
Roughie: Tauri (No.10) — $12.50 / $2.75 🏆 8TH
Bet Tracked
Prob 8.3% | Place: 32.7% | Value: 1.18x
Why Needs everything to fall its way and the pace not to turn into a procession.
Race type: BM62, 1700m
Map & tempo: Slow Pace, Mayeki likes it but Cute Girl and Both Sides Now can still keep pressure
Punty read: This one's a proper mid-distance battle where you earn your finish. Cute Girl is the pick because it has both the ability and the right sort of run style for Soft 5, it can make its move without being forced. Asal is the second-act threat, and Just My Lot is the classic "don't ignore it" type if the race doesn't accelerate too much and it can keep finding. Both Sides Now is the roughie chaos, but it also has the sort of late-momentum that can crack wide-open.
Top 3 + Roughie ($6.00 pool)
1. Cute Girl (No.4) — $5.00 / $2.00 🏆 WINNER
Bet $6.00 Each Way ($3.00W + $3.00P) — ✓ Won, net +$15.00
Prob 21.3% | Place: 69.2% | Value: 1.27x
Why Soft 5 suits its run style, and it has the finishing punch for 1700 without needing perfection.
2. Asal (No.6) — $9.00 / $2.90 🏆 10TH
Bet Tracked
Prob 16.2% | Place: 46.1% | Value: 1.73x
Why The top pick's each-way already covers the place angle here — doubling up is paying twice for the same insurance. Tracked instead.
3. Just My Lot (No.13) — $4.20 / $1.80 🏆 3RD
Bet Tracked
Prob 16.1% | Place: 53.8% | Value: 0.81x
Why Can run a race, but it's a bit short for my exact bet structure.
Roughie: Both Sides Now (No.7) — $9.00 / $3.00 🏆 8TH
Bet Tracked
Prob 8.8% | Place: 34.1% | Value: 1.00x
Why If it gets a clear run through the grind, it's a place lock style for Soft 1700.
Race type: BM62, 1000m
Map & tempo: Hot Pace, leaders pushing hard early, Ziggy Bama is in the pocket of advantage
Punty read: This is the sprint race of the day where the winner is usually the one who wastes the least energy. Ziggy Bama is a serious player up front and it has the resume to back it, especially on Soft where many sprinters start to lose traction. Salaria is your value place and could absolutely fight out a finish. Outer Banks is the danger if it gets a run in the clear, while Kid Dynamite and Midnight Devil are the sort that can pinch a cheeky slice if the pace gets messy.
Top 3 + Roughie ($15.00 pool)
★ PUNTY'S PICK 1. Ziggy Bama (No.1) — $2.88 / $1.25 🏆 UNPLACED
Bet $15.00 Win — ✗ Lost, net -$15.00
Prob 35.1% | Place: 70.0% | Value: 1.23x
Why Maps to control, Soft 5 gives it grip, and it's the most trustworthy short price of the night.
2. Salaria (No.9) — $4.00 / $1.75 🏆 WINNER
Bet Tracked
Prob 23.2% | Place: 70.0% | Value: 1.11x
Why A real chance — but at $1.75 the place the numbers don't give me enough edge to insure with. Watching, not betting.
3. Outer Banks (No.5) — $5.50 / $2.15 🏆 UNPLACED
Bet Tracked
Prob 14.3% | Place: 47.4% | Value: 0.94x
Why Place chance looks okay, but win value isn't there for me.
Roughie: Midnight Devil (No.4) — $12.00 / $3.20 🏆 3RD
Bet Tracked
Prob 6.3% | Place: 29.3% | Value: 0.77x
Why It needs the front-running lanes to stay open, and Soft 5 can close them fast.

Meeting Stats
Selections
Punty's Early Mail
Rightio Loose Units, Warrnambool on a Soft 5, rail out 3m round the entire circuit, where every kick turns into a bog fight and the lucky ones get to hit the line with dry socks.
This is one of those meetings where the speed is there, the stamina is there, but the real difference is who gets the right run through the muck. Map is everything today. When the race shape says "on pace" those horses aren't doing it for the photos, they're doing it to keep the ground and deny the swoopers. When it says "backmarker", you'd better be hoping the leaders get clinical like a surgeon, because otherwise the whole field goes around in grief.
My spine today is the Big 3 Multi, three shorties that actually fit the race stories: No.7 Zercardy, No.10 Mack The Knife, and No.1 Ziggy Bama. From there, we build lanes for the quaddies and keep the chaos where it belongs, in the legs that need width because some of these races are basically roulette with blinkers.
MEET SNAPSHOT
Track: Soft 5, 1000m to 2000m card
Rail: Out 3m Entire Circuit
Official going: Soft 5 (expected to play speed with some give in the ground)
Weather: Partly cloudy, 18C (watch for gusty ENE knocks, race shape can get choppy)
Early lane guess: Busy lanes early near where the "leaders" settle, then spread for the backmarker value
Tempo profile: Moderate to Hot early, with the longer races turning into grinders
Jockeys to follow:
Jack Hill: gets first dibs on the better type chances across the day
Brad Rawiller: he's around the mark when it tightens, especially sprint trips
Tom Madden: clean hands on the right horses when the market starts talking
Stables to respect:
Jamie Edwards (7 runners): has the polish and gear moves to lift a maiden
Symon Wilde (5 runners): tends to get them ready for the wet-ish days and the softer surfaces
Tom Dabernig (4 runners): when they're odds-on range, they're usually there to finish off
Punty's take:
Warrnambool Soft 5 is the kind of track where you can see the race get decided at the 300m mark, but you only realise it because the leaders still have a gear and the rest are grinding. The rail is out, so it's not as savage as it can be, yet you still want to be smart about position.
Early doors, Race 1 is a two-act play. Zercardy looks like the class line and the market's trying to do a deal with it, but the Soft 5 suits horses that can keep momentum. I'm also watching Villa Grande and Acharnee because this is the kind of maiden where one gets held up and the other one runs through the gap.
Then we've got that big middle stretch where the quaddies start to bite. Race 4 is basically a Mack The Knife showcase, but Endless Fury and Winter Arc give you the "okay maybe there is a twist" energy. After that, Race 6 is your classic BM62 pace test, King West looks like the one to stick with, and if you miss it, you miss the story. Late, Race 8 is Ziggy Bama time. When something wins early and stays winning, the Soft 5 just lets it do the job easier.
What it means for you:
If you're playing conservative, you bet win/place on the shorties that actually map to get the right trip, Zercardy, Mack The Knife, and Ziggy Bama. If you're chasing value, you do it in the places where the race shape says it, like Acharnee in Race 1 for a place line, or Endless Fury and Winter Arc in Race 4 depending on how the track rides out.
For the multi lanes, I'm not going full send in the chaos legs. I'll let the quaddie do the work and I'll keep it tight around the standout sprint chances. Place leverage matters on Soft tracks, so if you're unsure, take the safer finishing position angle over the flat-out win gamble.
Finally, remember this meeting is rail-out and Soft 5, so barrier drama is real. If a horse is drawn where it can sit without wasting energy, it can make the whole race look easy.
