Punty's Punts
Race type: Maiden, 800m
Map & tempo: Hot pace up front, with on-pacers fighting for position early
Punty read: Lady Milan is the one they're building the race around. She's set up to lead or sit right near it, and in an 800m maiden with a hot tempo, that's basically all you can ask for. The danger is not "can she run?", it's "can the rest get her off her rhythm?". Kvas is the classic threat, he's charging late style, and if the pace shoves itself into the dirt, he swoops. Almond Gold is the rough around the edges, but with the gear changes and a chance to run on through the rain, she's the one that can flip the script if the speed collapses.
Top 3 + Roughie ($15.00 pool)

Bet Tracked
Prob 11.4% | Place: 34.1% | Value: 1.32x

Roughie: Almond Gold (No.1) — $25.50 / $3.90 🏆 UNPLACED
Bet Tracked
Prob 5.2% | Place: 17.3% | Value: 1.29x
Why Big price because she needs the speed collapse and the gear change to spark something.
Race type: Maiden, 1350m
Map & tempo: Slow pace, backmarkers can be involved if they find room
Punty read: This is a "who can turn into it late" job. Grieve Road at the front end is interesting because even in a slower race, midfield traffic can get messy, and she's set up to be in the right lane when it tightens. Master In Motion and Nozomu are the Place plays because they're the ones most likely to give you a run on the right sort of finish without needing to win. Catfish is the swingy one, but with her chances more about luck in the trip, she's a watch from the back rather than a dog at the till.
Top 3 + Roughie ($19.50 pool)
1. Grieve Road (No.2) — $2.68 / $1.35 🏆 UNPLACED
Bet $7.50 Win — ✗ Lost, net -$7.50
Prob 28.9% | Place: 69.0% | Value: 0.91x
Why Slow tempo makes the positioning matter, and she looks like the one who gets a clean crack at the finish.
2. Master In Motion (No.12) — $3.70 / $1.55 🏆 3RD
Bet $7.00 Place — ✓ Won, net +$3.85
Prob 21.9% | Place: 69.0% | Value: 1.28x

Bet $5.00 Place — ✓ Won, net +$5.00
Prob 21.6% | Place: 64.7% | Value: 0.96x
Why Better odds than she should have for a runner that can hold her own through a slow race.
Roughie: Catfish (No.1) — $13.25 / $3.20 🏆 UNPLACED
Bet Tracked
Prob 4.3% | Place: 17.8% | Value: 0.66x
Why Needs clear daylight to swoop, and that might not come early enough.
Race type: Maiden, 1700m
Map & tempo: Slow tempo, backmarkers can finish but midfield control is key
Punty read: In a slow race, Canya Berich is the sort that can sit and pounce. You want horses that can switch off early and then find the kick late, and that's her style. Divil A Bit is the value in the different way, because even with the slow pace, she's built to be around the money and she's got more run in her when it matters. Kalamia King is more about staying in the fight and taking the right lane, and Pure Audacity is your longshot with a gear story and a chance to surprise if the race gets messy late.
Top 3 + Roughie ($21.50 pool)
1. Canya Berich (No.8) — $1.88 / $1.10 🏆 2ND
Bet $10.50 Win — ✗ Lost, net -$10.50
Prob 29.8% | Place: 69.0% | Value: 0.82x
Why Slow tempo suits her, and she's set up to be finishing fastest late.
2. Divil A Bit (No.1) — $4.15 / $1.55 🏆 WINNER
Bet $5.00 Place — ✓ Won, net +$2.75
Prob 29.6% | Place: 69.0% | Value: 1.68x
Why Strong Place angle with the gear change, she's the one who can nail the gaps.
3. Kalamia King (No.2) — $5.30 / $1.70 🏆 3RD
Bet $6.00 Place — ✓ Won, net +$4.20
Prob 17.3% | Place: 60.3% | Value: 0.97x
Why Comes into it with the run, and she's got enough zip to be in the top few at the line.
Roughie: Pure Audacity (No.4) — $16.00 / $3.20 🏆 UNPLACED
Bet Tracked
Prob 2.6% | Place: 12.2% | Value: 0.26x
Why Needs a clean run and the right timing, otherwise she's just a spectator.
Race type: Class 2 Handicap, 1200m
Map & tempo: Slow pace, but the lead lane is still everything at 1200
Punty read: This race is a three-horse race masquerading as a handicap. Land Bank, Divine Justice, and Esprit Du Jour all look like they'll be doing the work at the right time, and you want to be on horses that can get a good run into the straight. Immediate is the one that gets a look from midfield and could take a placing if the front three duel too hard. Star Venture is the long way from winning unless the chaos unfolds, and Pacific Pirate is the same story, a lot of work from the back.
Top 3 + Roughie ($15.00 pool)
1. Land Bank (No.3) — $3.75 / $1.72 🏆 3RD
Bet $15.00 Win — ✗ Lost, net -$15.00
Prob 26.5% | Place: 56.2% | Value: 1.16x
Why Best blend of class and map, and with the short dash, he's positioned to strike.
2. Divine Justice (No.6) — $3.20 / $1.52 🏆 4TH
Bet Tracked
Prob 26.6% | Place: 66.6% | Value: 0.99x
Why If the race breaks his way he can win, but the money's going on the rank-1.
3. Esprit Du Jour (No.5) — $2.92 / $1.50 🏆 2ND
Bet Tracked
Prob 26.7% | Place: 66.8% | Value: 0.91x
Why The speed is there, but today it's Land Bank to carry the ticket.
Roughie: Star Venture (No.10) — $33.00 / $5.00 🏆 5TH
Bet Tracked
Prob 2.3% | Place: 12.2% | Value: 0.90x
Why Needs a miracle late, and we're not handing out free miracles today.
Race type: Class 4 Handicap, 1100m
Map & tempo: Moderate tempo, on-pacers can hold on if the rail doesn't bite
Punty read: Everybody Rise is the one in the driver's seat. 1100m at Ipswich means if you get positioned early and keep the rhythm, you're hard to run down, even if the rain comes in for the last burst. Miss De Medici is the big Place angle because she's got the class to be doing something late, and Vorkuta can sneak a placing if the tempo suits. Bad Forest is the roughie but she needs everything to go right, and blinkers first time can either sharpen or expose.
Top 3 + Roughie ($19.00 pool)
1. Everybody Rise (No.1) — $2.54 / $1.15 🏆 WINNER
Bet $5.50 Win — ✓ Won, net +$8.47
Prob 31.9% | Place: 69.0% | Value: 0.94x
Why Keeps the run, maps to be prominent, and should be very hard to ditch in a short race.
2. Miss De Medici (No.9) — $6.25 / $1.72 🏆 4TH
Bet $10.00 Place — ✗ Lost, net -$10.00
Prob 19.8% | Place: 56.2% | Value: 1.44x
Why Better value than the odds say, and she's built to hit the line late.
3. Vorkuta (No.5) — $3.40 / $1.37 🏆 3RD
Bet $3.50 Place — ✓ Won, net +$1.75
Prob 18.6% | Place: 51.0% | Value: 0.73x
Why Pace profile suits her, and Place dividends are on the cards if she gets a trail.
Roughie: Bad Forest (No.8) — $12.25 / $2.75 🏆 UNPLACED
Bet Tracked
Prob 6.4% | Place: 21.7% | Value: 0.91x
Why Needs luck and a perfect run, otherwise she's chasing late in traffic.
Race type: Handicap, 1350m
Map & tempo: Moderate tempo, midfield movers with clear runs are the play
Punty read: Hidden Future is the spine here, he's the one that looks ready to take control when they start to string out. Vostokova is the value sweet spot, she's priced like she's got to do too much, but her race is in the right shape for her to be a proper factor late. Shedrivesabentley is more of a support, and Lukey Blue is a roughie type but we keep him as the one you watch, not the one you bet into unless the field breaks perfectly.
Top 3 + Roughie ($22.00 pool)
1. Hidden Future (No.10) — $3.33 / $1.55 🏆 2ND
Bet $15.50 Win — ✗ Lost, net -$15.50
Prob 28.9% | Place: 51.7% | Value: 1.13x
Why In a handicap with midfield running, he's the one that can put the race to bed.
2. Vostokova (No.6) — $8.75 / $2.50 🏆 3RD
Bet Tracked
Prob 10.8% | Place: 36.6% | Value: 1.28x
Why She's got the right chance, but the place price band says don't force it.
3. Shedrivesabentley (No.12) — $6.35 / $2.30 🏆 UNPLACED
Bet $6.50 Place — ✗ Lost, net -$6.50
Prob 12.4% | Place: 47.0% | Value: 0.93x
Why Solid Place profile from a map that usually rewards patience.
Roughie: Lukey Blue (No.13) — $10.00 / $2.85 🏆 WINNER
Bet Tracked
Prob 13.3% | Place: 47.0% | Value: 1.56x
Why Needs the right gaps and a clean angle in the straight to hit the frame.
Race type: Handicap, 1350m
Map & tempo: Moderate tempo, on-pacers benefit if they avoid getting swallowed
Punty read: This is La Profecia's race to lose. She's got the pace and the right style for this sort of Ipswich setup, and when they slow it down, those mid-race position tactics become the difference between winning and just chasing. Atlantic Coast is the danger in the placing sense, and Rosa Kiss is there, but her price and Place odds mean she's more of a "if you're watching it late" sort. King Cobama is the roughie with the right profile to cause trouble if the race turns into a speed versus grit showdown.
Top 3 + Roughie ($16.00 pool)
1. La Profecia (No.6) — $4.70 / $1.70 🏆 4TH
Bet $6.00 Win — ✗ Lost, net -$6.00
Prob 29.2% | Place: 69.0% | Value: 1.61x
Why Strong tempo alignment, and she should get the run in the right lane to finish best.
2. Atlantic Coast (No.3) — $4.90 / $1.75 🏆 3RD
Bet $10.00 Place — ✓ Won, net +$7.50
Prob 25.6% | Place: 69.0% | Value: 1.47x
Why Likely to be in the fight late, and Place is where the value sits.
3. Rosa Kiss (No.11) — $2.42 / $1.30 🏆 WINNER
Bet Tracked
Prob 10.2% | Place: 40.5% | Value: 0.40x
Why She's got ability, but the Place confidence isn't strong enough to warrant a bet.
Roughie: King Cobama (No.9) — $12.75 / $2.80 🏆 UNPLACED
Bet Tracked
Prob 6.0% | Place: 25.3% | Value: 0.91x
Why Needs pace pressure and a late run, the kind of finish that sneaks into the frame.
Sequence legs are the picks-engine's authoritative choice, rendered from the persisted ticket.
Smart: 3,5,6 / 1,9,5,4 / 10,12,13 / 6,3,9 (108 combos x $0.19 = $21.00) -- 19% flexi
The day's multi leans on three win legs across the card.
1 - Lady Milan (Race 1, No.6)✓ Won — $1.26
2 - Canya Berich (Race 3, No.8)✗ — $1.88
3 - Everybody Rise (Race 5, No.1)✓ Won — $2.54
Meeting Stats
Selections
Punty's Early Mail
Rightio Loose Units, Ipswich on a Good 4 with showers lurking, rail +9, and the wind having a little bit of a crack at your hair gel. This is one of those meetings where the speed looks good, then the last 200m turns into a slapfight. If you're thinking "nah, it's only 1mm", mate that's exactly how you get done.
The big spine today is simple. You've got three races where the market and the race shape actually line up, and we're building around them like it's a Fast and Furious heist plan. Lady Milan in Race 1, Everybody Rise in Race 5, and Canya Berich in Race 3, then we let the Quaddie lanes do the heavy lifting in R4 to R7. After that, it's Value and Place leverage, because Win-only when it's tight fields and wet-weather variables is how you donate money to the TAB gods.
And yeah, there's plenty of "could" runners. But today we're not chasing every shiny toy, we're backing the ones that can travel, hit the line, and handle Ipswich when the heavens decide to loosen the taps. Big energy, small discipline. That's the sweet spot.
MEET SNAPSHOT
Track: Good 4, 1100-1700m card
Rail: +9 metres Entire course
Official going: Good 4 (expected to play Speed on, but finish matters)
Weather: Showers, 17C, wind 25km/h SSW, watch for gusts and those rain bursts at 10:00, 13:00, 16:00, 19:00, 22:00
Early lane guess: Bias out a touch with the rail, so get on the better tempo or the ones that can still swoop wide
Tempo profile: Early tempo mostly solid, then it gets grindy late, with on-paces in the right spots doing the damage
Jockeys to follow:
Dylan Turner: consistently rides these Ipswich-style maps well, and he's on runners that look like they'll be involved.
Nozi Tomizawa: sharp at keeping rhythm, and when the market firms, he tends to deliver.
Les Tilley: knows how to keep a horse travelling into the sticky bit, especially at this track.
Stables to respect:
T J Gollan (8 runners): multiple shooters through the grades, and he's not afraid to show speed.
Stephen & Jordan Lee (7 runners): strong when the market aligns, and their horses are usually ready to run.
Allan Chau (6 runners): lots of competence in sprints to middle ground, and gear changes get them sharper.
Punty's take:
Ipswich today is a bit like a pub playlist, you get the upbeat tracks early, then suddenly the bass drops and you're hearing every footstep in the last section. The showers are real enough that you can't ignore the grip, but it's still listed Good 4, so we're not throwing the form out like it owes us money.
Race shape-wise, the leaders are going to try and control it early. That helps the ones who can actually hold a spot, not the ones forced three deep from barrier. In the first two races especially, look at the tempo and where they can settle, because when the pace is on, the backmarkers are doing it the hard way. Then by Race 3 into the middle card, you want horses that can travel through the line, not just pop up for a photo.
And for the value stuff, we're not guessing. We're leaning on the market firmness plus the race map. When a horse is getting hammered in the ring, there's usually a reason, even if it's as simple as "this bloke knows they're going forward".
What it means for you:
Be aggressive where the race shape says "go". That means backing the top picks that map near the action. Don't get fancy in the first innings when there are solid paces and clean barriers. Save the chaos for when it's got a real pathway, like a runner that can still run on if the speed collapses or the rain pinches them late.
For your bet plan, think: lock the Big 3 spine through R1, R3, and R5. Then use Race 2 and Race 6 for Place leverage, because those fields and odds make Place dividends make sense. For the quaddie lanes R4 to R7, we're using a wide-enough ticket that respects the danger runners, but we're not going full wheel-spinning circus. You're there to win, not audition for the next disaster recap.
Alright, let's get into it.
