✗ MISS -$6 Final

Race type: MAIDEN, 1000m
Map & tempo: Genuine pace up front, so it's Union and the stalkers having first go at the dash for home
Punty read: Union (No.4) is the "blinkers, now behave" type and gets a decent crack around the speed. Hearts Affair (No.11) is the value-place angle, because she's the sort that can pick up pieces if the leader's effort softens even a smidge. Andarna is short enough to be a real threat in a field like this, especially if she finds any room early. Hammertime is the danger if the market lets him drop in too far, because soft sprint races can turn into a late punch-up.

Top 3 + Roughie ($22.50 pool)

1. Union (No.4) — $3.40 / $1.20 🏆 3RD
Bet $12.50 Win — ✗ Lost, net -$12.50
Prob 26.7% | Place: 69.0% | Value: 0.91x
Why Blinkers first time and she's drawn to go forward, in a race where leaders get first crack.

2. Hearts Affair (No.11) — $4.15 / $1.45 🏆 WINNER
Bet $6.00 Place — ✓ Won, net +$2.70
Prob 26.6% | Place: 69.0% | Value: 1.57x
Why Big place value play, she's built for soft sprint finishing runs when the inside scrum gets shuffled.

Bet $4.00 Place — ✓ Won, net +$3.60
Prob 24.7% | Place: 69.0% | Value: 1.17x

✓ WON +$7 Final

Race type: MAIDEN, 1300m
Map & tempo: Genuine pace, so it's about who can sit close without getting stuck in mud
Punty read: Glissando (No.4) is the "get a nice trip and let the wheels roll" pick, and the market says people agree. Rapid Revenue (No.3) is the one you want to anchor because gear changes and blinkers first time often improve positioning, and at 1300 on soft the trip matters more than the dream. Swift Delivery (No.6) is the value place cover if the race gets cut up early, and Quadria is the roughie only because she's got the "if something goes wrong, I sprint" profile.

Top 3 + Roughie ($9.50 pool)

1. Glissando (No.4) — $1.88 / $1.07 🏆 WINNER
Bet $5.00 Win — ✓ Won, net +$6.50
Prob 39.0% | Place: 57.9% | Value: 0.87x

2. Rapid Revenue (No.3) — $4.10 / $1.45 🏆 3RD
Bet $3.00 Place — ✓ Won, net +$1.80
Prob 24.3% | Place: 57.9% | Value: 1.77x
Why Blinkers first time and from a backmarker style, he needs pace and spacing, which the "genuine" profile provides.

3. Swift Delivery (No.6) — $6.35 / $1.65 🏆 7TH
Bet $1.50 Place — ✗ Lost, net -$1.50
Prob 16.1% | Place: 43.1% | Value: 1.14x

✗ MISS -$7 Final

Race type: MAIDEN, 1600m
Map & tempo: Slow pace, so it's a sit-and-swoop, straight line, no panic type
Punty read: This is a "wait for the gap" 1600m. Clanwilliam (No.2) is a straight-up win chance with the form and the way slow tempo races let good gallopers hold their rhythm. Equinox Legend (No.5) is the value place and a sneaky win threat if he's closer than the backmarker label suggests. Copartner Pegasus (No.3) is the one you include because he's got the right on-pace profile and can steal a result if others overcook it. Wee Winn (No.11) is your roughie, because she's a pick for place value when the field doesn't sprint away early.

Top 3 + Roughie ($18.00 pool)

1. Clanwilliam (No.2) — $1.84 / $1.08 🏆 2ND
Bet $7.50 Win — ✗ Lost, net -$7.50

● CASHED Final

Race type: MAIDEN, 1200m
Map & tempo: Moderate pace, so you want a horse that can stay balanced through the middle and then move
Punty read: Written Doll (No.8) is the speed-friendly on-paper play and should enjoy a clean run near the front. Creator Of World (No.7) is the value-added punch because those markets that go short for Written Doll still leave him room underneath if the leaders get chased. Pariah Time (No.3) is the "everyone forgets him until the last 150" style, and Santarno (No.4) is a must-use for place because he's capable of grabbing a spot when others hit a wall.

Top 3 + Roughie ($20.50 pool)

1. Written Doll (No.8) — $2.59 / $1.37 🏆 2ND
Bet $7.50 Win — ✗ Lost, net -$7.50

✗ MISS -$2 Final

Race type: CLASS 1, 1300m
Map & tempo: Slow pace, so the real danger is being too far back without cover
Punty read: Rose Of Fenway (No.6) is the one I want because she's the fresh, forward-thinking type that can handle soft while still finding the line. Cuesta (No.3) is the other half of the grinder combo, and on a slow 1300, he gets every chance to keep coming. Call Me Sassy (No.5) is the place cover, because she's the sort that can float into the money if the field fans out. Skirmish (No.2) is the roughie swing, but only because soft tracks can bring those "not so far off" late hits.

Top 3 + Roughie ($11.00 pool)

1. Rose Of Fenway (No.6) — $3.77 / $1.52 🏆 2ND
Bet $5.00 Win — ✗ Lost, net -$5.00

✗ MISS -$8 Final

Race type: CLASS 1, 1600m
Map & tempo: Slow pace, so position and timing matter, and you get your place with the right trail
Punty read: This is a place-leverage race, and it screams for Call Me Mojo (No.4) and Yachiyo (No.3) underneath the likely top dog. Aethelwulf (No.1) is the straight-up win anchor, but the way slow 1600s unfold on soft means the favourite can absolutely get trapped behind a wall, and that's when place dividends pay your bills.

Call Me Mojo has the right pace factor, and if he lands midfield with cover, he's charging at the exact time it matters. Yachiyo is the value runner, because when markets wake up, she can run on into spots. Arizona Loner (No.8) is the roughie idea for the place, but you keep it as a watch-your-butt roughie.

Top 3 + Roughie ($19.00 pool)

1. Aethelwulf (No.1) — $1.65 / $1.05 🏆 WINNER
Bet $6.50 Win — ✓ Won, net +$4.22
Prob 32.9% | Place: 69.0% | Value: 0.63x

Prob 20.4% | Place: 66.2% | Value: 1.74x

Bet $5.50 Place — ✗ Lost, net -$5.50
Prob 15.6% | Place: 53.8% | Value: 1.36x

✓ WON +$5 Final

Race type: BENCHMARK 64, 1000m
Map & tempo: Moderate speed, so the sprint comes down to position and quick throttle changes
Punty read: Century Song (No.1) is the main speed horse, and these 1000m soft races punish anyone caught too deep without clear galloping room. Vingt Neuf Noir (No.9) is the value win and place threat because he's in range early and can put pressure on at the right time. Shalaa Gold (No.2) is your second value gear-change style runner, with the kind of sprint punch that makes the finish ugly for everyone else.

Still Alice (No.7) is the roughie, because if the race slows and the favs get tangled, she could get an opening late.

Top 3 + Roughie ($22.00 pool)

Race type: BENCHMARK 68, 1200m

Punty read: Let's Go Again (No.4) is the one that looks ready to hit the line in this kind of tempo, and the market is treating him like the likely winner. Zaragoza (No.2) is the place cover because he can sit close enough without being a sitting duck, and Heuristic (No.3) is the value-ish runner if the race turns into a midrace sprint contest.

Equilibrist (No.5) is not in the top for today, and Cryptonic (No.1) is the wildcard types on soft days, but today we stick to the model picture: go with the tactical front-to-mid runners.

Punty's Early Mail

Rightio Loose Units, Kembla Grange is throwing a Soft 5 tantrum today, showers lurking like a bad idea, and the rail is true, so expect the inside to get brave and the rest to get sweaty. The track should reward horses that can keep their feet, keep grinding, and avoid the "race wide and hope" strategy. Strap in.

MEET SNAPSHOT

Track: Soft 5, sprint 1000-1600m card
Rail: True
Official going: Soft 5 (expected to play Speed to Hitters)
Weather: Shower or two, 15°C (watch for rain risk and late slick-up, plus gusty swings)
Early lane guess: A little bit of rail-saving early, but the best runs will be the ones that get first or second crack at the turn

Tempo profile: Races are largely set for either genuine speed or a soft shuffle where the leaders get first looks, not last rights.
Jockeys to follow:
Zac Lloyd: gets the job done with "get there, then get off" rides, and he is on key market names today.
Tommy Berry: when he's on an obvious pace profile, he tends to turn it into a mission, not a suggestion.
Chad Schofield: likes to hunt position early, and on wet-ish sprint tracks that matters a lot.
Stables to respect:
R & L Price (2 runners): they are popping their head up all day, and today's wet-sprint setups look like they've been mapped.
David Pfieffer (1 runner): shows up with runners that travel and hit the line, especially when the market takes an interest.
Bjorn Baker (1 runner): the "send them" style, plus gear and confidence moves in the earlier races.

Punty's take:

This is one of those Kembla cards where the straight line is king, but only because the corners are sticky. Soft 5 punishes indecision, so if your horse is stuck three-wide with no plan, it's basically doing laps of regret.

Race 1 kicks off with Union and a whole bunch of first-start energy, plus a blinkers switch that screams "alright, champ, now try". Race 2 is a classic maiden where Glissando looks like the sensible option, but Rapid Revenue has the exact profile you want underneath, especially if the pace is real and the field stretches. And Race 3 is the "pick the best 1600m sprinter, then pray the others learn faster" story, with Equinox Legend plugged into the market and likely to run on.

By mid-program, you've got the place-lever mechanism firing. Race 6 is screaming for a place bet on Call Me Mojo, because the way these middle distances set up on soft days means the favourite can win, or get held, and either way he's a cash register for a top-three finish. Then Race 7 is a proper sprint battleground, with Shalaa Gold and Vingt Neuf Noir in the pocket for value, and Race 8 is another short-course test where a clean, forward run wins more often than the "wide and wild" nonsense.

What it means for you:

Be aggressive early with the top seeds that have the right tactical maps, but be ruthless about where you go hunting. For sprints on Soft 5, being on speed or stalking the speed is the game, and backing backmarkers is only a plan if you can see the speed collapse.

My spine today is straight-up winners in the big three races, then I keep the rest of my action locked to the Top 3 plus a calculated roughie. When the market firms around runners with pace-friendly profiles, I lean in. When it drifts hard on a horse that still has the map and gear working, I treat it like a warning flare and I go looking for the runner that's being under-rated.

And yeah, showers. When the rain comes late, the leaders often get tired, so your place bets and exact tri-box inclusion makes sense. If it stays genuine soft, it's a grinders' parade. Either way, you've got a plan.
