✓ WON +$34 Final

Race type: MAIDEN, 1100m
Map & tempo: Moderate pace, Call Me Invincible on pace, tempo probably keeps them honest early
Punty read:
No.1 Call Me Invincible is the speed you can actually build a race around. He's drawn nicely, and the way these maidens shape up at Kalgoorlie, if the leader finds rhythm early, the rest can start peeling off like it's a bad boy band reunion. Is This Thing On (No.9) is the obvious threat if he gets a run stalking the hot bit, but my worry for the outsiders is the surface. In Soft 6, the late finish needs a cleaner trip than people think.

✗ MISS -$13 Final

Race type: MAIDEN, 1400m
Map & tempo: Moderate but messy, on-pace types around No.8 and No.12 can set it up for stalkers
Punty read:
This is a proper open maidens' buffet. Run Rupert Run (No.8) is the one with the cleanest speed picture, and when a horse is on pace at 1400m in Soft, the advantage can stretch. Vaulting Spirit (No.12) looks like the exact sort that can finish over the top, but he might be asked to work harder than the market wants, given the field's pace.

Billy The Boss (No.3) is the rougher's mate here, blinkers back in and the form says he's close enough to nick a run if the tempo turns into a sprint-wrestle.

Top 3 + Roughie ($13.00 pool)

✗ MISS -$15 Final

Race type: HANDICAP, 1100m
Map & tempo: Moderate pace, leaders around Dubai's Daughter and Alotofbanter, Vomo Island likely tries to dictate
Punty read:
This is a speed vs stability showdown. Vomo Island (No.2) has the front-runner mindset and the draw works for him, because in a short 1100m at Soft 6, you either set the tempo or you spend the whole race chasing it. Door Buster (No.6) is the big grinder, he looks like he's made to keep coming when the leaders get worked over.

Ripper Rupert (No.5) is the danger if the race stretches early and he gets a clear look, but Soft 6 can flatten the late charge if there's no room.

Top 3 + Roughie ($15.00 pool)

✓ WON +$32 Final

Race type: HANDICAP, 1600m
Map & tempo: Moderate pace, Argyle Star is the one to watch early pressure from
Punty read:
This race is about who handles the extra ground when the track's chewing. Blood Brother (No.2) looks primed to stalk just off the speed and then keep drawing stamina from the boiler, which is exactly what you want at 1600m when Soft 6 turns the straight into a slog.

Please Mizter (No.6) is there with a live chance, the map says he can stay in play, and he's the kind of runner that can pick up without needing the stars aligned. The Scholar (No.5) is shorter odds than his value, so he's more "place threat" than "win and get paid" for me.

Top 3 + Roughie ($10.50 pool)

✗ MISS -$8 Final

Race type: HANDICAP, 1760m
Map & tempo: Moderate pace, midfield congestion possible, Karsavina and Lanta can go forward early
Punty read:
This is a classic middle-ground handicap where staying power wins arguments. Karsavina (No.7) is the one I like to see stalking and then taking the hit at the right moment. Lord Momo (No.2) is live, but he's the sort that needs everything to run like the script in his head.

Lanta (No.4) has a better look for a run under Soft, and the draw helps him get to position without panicking. Gav Has Spoken (No.10) is the market favourite vibe, but I'm not sure the price is paying enough for the risk profile.

Top 3 + Roughie ($7.50 pool)

Map & tempo: Genuine pace, Hello Veneta (No.10) is the on-pacer to fear
Punty read:
Hello Veneta (No.10) is the one leading the line in this race. On a short 1300m in Soft 6, early control can be worth its weight in gold coins. Gibraltar Gold (No.7) is a live threat too, and Morf (No.2) can be there if the speed doesn't cost him too much.

Spangledstar (No.6) is the roughie type, he's got the ability to hit late, but the question is whether there's room and whether the pace holds long enough.

Race type: HANDICAP, 1400m
Map & tempo: Hot pace, leaders everywhere, Cool Memory and Fast Flicker pushing into the flow
Punty read:
This is the kind of 1400m where the leaders don't just lead, they get tested early. Cool Memory (No.3) has the run style to benefit, because when the race is hot, you want someone who can hold their position without burning the candle down.

Fast Flicker (No.4) is the obvious pressure runner, and Silver Eye (No.13) is your roughie spice if the pace fragments enough for him to pick off. Correct Choice (No.6) is dangerous late, but I want the clearer early positioning.

Race type: HANDICAP, 1200m
Map & tempo: Moderate pace with a leader-friendly flow, Whatyoutalkinbout can press and Wiluna Lass can control
Punty read:
This is a speed-based 1200m where positions turn into money in the blink of a sore throat. Wiluna Lass (No.2) is the likeliest leader type and the draw helps, but Whatyoutalkinbout (No.7) is the value lurking in the pocket behind the speed.

Come On Emma (No.3) is a place chance if the race tempo stays even enough for him to roll through. Tiger Tank (No.5) is your roughie, but on Soft with a field this chunky, backmarkers need a miracle and a gap. Punters love saying they'll get the gap, then the gap arrives for the bloke across the table.

Punty's Early Mail

Rightio Loose Units, Kalgoorlie on a Soft 6 with the rail True, so expect races to get messy like a John Wick fight scene in a wet pub carpark. No scratchies either, so we're getting the full chaos parade, 8 races, 99 runners, and plenty of opportunities for your ticket to grow back its own personality by the straight.

MEET SNAPSHOT

Track: Soft 6, 1100m-1760m card
Rail: True
Official going: Soft 6 (expected to play Skids and Sticks)
Weather: Fine, watch for gusts 33.3km/h
Early lane guess: Speed holds up, rails help the on-pacers enough to get tempted early
Tempo profile: Moderate pace early, then the surface starts demanding a price
Jockeys to follow:
Brad Parnham: Gets the sharp end of the map on the favourites, and when he's confident it usually shows.
Mitchell Pateman: Quietly lands on the right ones, and he's got the tools to sit handy on a day like today.
Josh Brown: Can put a horse in the right spot even when the draw or conditions threaten to be rude.
Stables to respect:
P J Fernie (7 runners): This bloke's always got at least one that can lift on Soft.
D & B Pearce (3 runners): When they bring them back, they don't muck around, they mean it.
N D Parnham (3 runners): Shapes like a "calm the market, then let it run" stable, especially around the metro-to-country bridge.

Punty's take:

Alright, Soft 6 at Kalgoorlie is where races go from "form" to "survive". You can win on speed, but you win by staying balanced, not by heroics. With the rail True, the inside isn't a death sentence, it's more like a trap you can spring if the horse has enough zip and the jockey actually times it.

The meeting's got a few clear pace magnets sprinkled through, and the value plays are leaning toward those with maps that suit, or ones getting gear upgrades that can sharpen them up on wet ground. Watch how the on-pacers take a stranglehold in the straight earlier than you'd expect, because the surface knocks the finishing burst out of the late runners when they're still chasing air.

Also, the bookies are cooking a few prices at the moment. I'm not chasing every move like a tourist on a gaming app, but when something firms and the horse's map looks right, I like being involved. Today is about picking your moments, not throwing darts at the entire field and praying to the racing gods.

What it means for you:

My game plan is pretty simple, be aggressive where the map is clean and the horse fits Soft, then protect your multi legs where the race shape screams "chaos, chaos, chaos". If a horse is on pace with a good draw and the race is sprinty, that's when you pounce, especially in the earlier heats where the gaps between runners are smaller.

For the sequences, the lanes tell the truth. Early Quaddie and Quaddie can be playable because we've got a bit more structure in the legs. Big 6 is entertainment. It might pay, it also might leave you with a new personality trait called "learning humility".

Use the Big 3 spine for your confidence, then let the race-by-race picks do the heavy lifting. If you want a safe-ish approach, back the Top 3 Win and Place lanes, and treat roughies like seasoning, not the main meal.
