✓ WON +$12 Final

Race type: Maiden, 1700m
Map & tempo: Slow Pace
Punty read: This one's a slow burner, so the old Warrnambool story kicks in, the finish is where the drama starts. The key is lane positioning and not losing touch, because with slow tempo the backmarkers can still run on, but only if they're not stuck in traffic. Enchilada looks like she's got that "quietly sits and then strolls to the line" vibe, Endless Fury is the sort that can wind up late if the field pinches, and All Moonlite profiles as a runner who can grab a spot into the finish if the pace stays stingy. I'm not pretending it's a race for heroes, it's a race for smart timing.

Top 3 + Roughie ($13.00 pool)

★ PUNTY'S PICK 1. Enchilada (No.11) — $1.95 / $1.10 🏆 WINNER

Prob 42.2% | Place: 70.0% | Value: 1.25x

✓ WON +$14 Final

Race type: Handicap, 3100m
Map & tempo: Moderate Pace
Punty read: Long staying race, so positions matter, but momentum matters more. With a moderate tempo, the main danger is getting boxed up while the leaders string out, then you're in the worst spot, stuck trying to manufacture gaps in soft conditions. Black Peppermint has the map manners to be involved, Reddivo looks like the one who can keep grinding, and Octahedron is a value-trap type if the race flow stays even enough. This is where you play the place game smarter than the win game.

Top 3 + Roughie ($7.50 pool)

1. Black Peppermint (No.1) — $2.80 / $1.45 🏆 WINNER
Bet $7.50 Win — ✓ Won, net +$13.50
Prob 29.6% | Place: 59.3% | Value: 0.97x
Why On a staying track like this, the runner who gets the right rhythm early usually wins, he can do that.

✗ MISS -$15 Final

Race type: Maiden, 1200m
Map & tempo: Moderate Pace
Punty read: This is the "front-runner gets first shout" 1200m. Tuscan Rose has the speed to lead, and with the track being Soft 6, the straight-line momentum matters even more, you want the leader who can keep finding a rhythm. Thermic is the main threat type, Vulcana is the extra place chance that can slide into the finish if the leaders tire. With showers around, I'd rather back the horse who can punch through the conditions early.

Top 3 + Roughie ($15.00 pool)

★ PUNTY'S PICK 1. Tuscan Rose (No.8) — $1.90 / $1.08 🏆 5TH
Bet $15.00 Win — ✗ Lost, net -$15.00
Prob 58.8% | Place: 70.0% | Value: 1.15x

2. Thermic (No.4) — $6.50 / $2.50 🏆 WINNER
Bet Tracked
Prob 10.3% | Place: 34.6% | Value: 1.07x
Why Only two places paid in a field this size, and skinny place divvies make savers a mug's game — this is a win-only race. Tracked, not staked.

✓ WON +$33 Final

Race type: Maiden, 1200m
Map & tempo: Slow Pace
Punty read: Slow 1200m on Soft 6 is a lane lottery, and the winner usually has the easiest path. Pastoral King has the clean profile for a maiden through this sort of grind, Mr Cicconi is the main saver-type if they get shuffled, and Cool Aza Breeze can hit the line if the pace stays soft. Rakiynn is the roughie danger runner, but I'm not overcomplicating it.

Race type: Benchmark 62, 1200m
Map & tempo: Moderate Pace
Punty read: This is a "who's got the engine" race, 1200m on Soft 6 means the first quick part is everything. Celibate profiles as the one who can stay balanced and keep running, while Break The Taboo is the value runner who can lift late. Artistic Genius and Singles Moment are both live for a top finish if the field doesn't stretch too far, but my main interest is picking the one who gets the ideal rhythm.

✗ MISS -$1 Final

Race type: Benchmark 62, 1000m
Map & tempo: Moderate Pace
Punty read: 1000m on a wet track is chaos in a blender. The best tactic is backing the runner who can hold the front rhythm without getting swamped, that's Nordic Strike's lane. Romantic Miss is the other speed threat, and Money Honey is a genuine place chance if the leaders do what leaders do, wear out. Succaforyou and Forever With Ned are there for the "if it goes wrong for the favourite" fantasy, but I'm keeping it focused.

Top 3 + Roughie ($15.00 pool)

1. Nordic Strike (No.2) — $5.50 / $1.90 🏆 3RD
Bet $15.00 Each Way ($7.50W + $7.50P) — Cashed, net -$0.75

✗ MISS -$4 Final

Race type: Benchmark 62, 1700m
Map & tempo: Genuine Pace
Punty read: 1700m with genuine pace on Soft 6 usually means the race is run properly, then sprinted to the line by the strongest. Crossoverkid is drawn to get a trip and can earn a spot in the race, Just My Lot is the other "can threaten late" runner, and Philharmonic is the value-led chance that can hit the line if the tempo holds. This is a chaos handicap, so the trick is to back runners who can adapt, not ones who need everything perfect.

Top 3 + Roughie ($3.50 pool)

✗ MISS -$10 Final

Race type: Benchmark 62, 1400m
Map & tempo: Moderate Pace
Punty read: 1400m is where the track starts separating the smart from the stubborn. Invisible Magic looks like the type who can sit in range and keep finding, Mr Sioux is the main alternate with a more forward style, and Victory Tune is the consistent place-in-the-frame runner. Imminent Storm is the roughie value, if the race is on and the lane opens, he can run right through the line. That's what I'm looking for, the kind of finish that looks like it was made for soft footing.

Top 3 + Roughie ($10.50 pool)

Punty's Early Mail

Rightio Loose Units, Warrnambool on a Soft 6 with showers threatening to turn the whole joint into a soup. This is one of those days where speed matters, but only the real ones can keep it together when the track starts chewing up the later runners. I'm leaning into a tight spine early, then widening the chaos where it actually pays to do dumb shit.

2-3 things driving my brain today
First, the rail is true, so you can back speed with confidence, as long as your horse isn't getting mugged for position early. Second, showers are basically guaranteed at multiple points today, so you want horses who can handle give and grind, not just flash through it once. Third, Warrnambool stays brutal for wide, plus late runs can get smothered if the field strings out and the gaps vanish.
Jockeys to follow:
Cillin Leonard: when she's on a well-meant runner, she usually does the job without making it a drama.
Jack Hill: clean handling, good in wet-ish races where lanes open late.
Dean Yendall: keeps horses moving forward, and that matters a lot when the tempo turns messy.
Stables to respect:
P Kearney (5 runners): this is the type of stable that brings a plan, especially with gear changes.
M J Williams (1 runner): has been competitive with maiden types, and when they map to get involved early, keep it simple.
Patrick Payne (2 runners): shows up plenty on these tougher provincial cards, and their runners often take the right path through traffic.

Punty's take: The early races scream "pace shapes, but wet patience". In Race 3 it's the classic 1200m maiden, where the best horse can basically control the air, then get swallowed by the mud if they lose their lane. In the staying stuff (Race 2), it's longer-stride territory, so a couple of positioned runners can make it look easy while the rest are stuck doing paddock calculus for the final bend. By the time we hit the Quaddie legs, you want to be either on a strong map or on a value angle that can swoop in when the leaders get tired. That's my whole day in one sentence.

What it means for you: Be aggressive early in the races where the pace advantage is obvious, but don't get cute in the wet. Your Win bets are the "I want to own the finish line" plays, while the Place bets are your safety rails when the run is there, the lane just isn't guaranteed. For the chaos, I'm not backing nonsense, I'm backing runners who have a real path to running on, especially if the track keeps getting worse by the hour.

So here's the plan, simple version:

  1. Lock in the Big 3 Multi winners.
  2. In each race, back the top three the way the day is mapped, then use the roughie as your "if the speed collapses" lever.

3) Use the sequence lanes exactly as built, Quaddie and Big 6 included, because one wide miss in the wrong leg nukes the dividend fantasy.
