Punty's Punts
Race type: MAIDEN, 1400m
Map & tempo: Genuine Pace, leaders expected to go early, then it's about who can still sprint down the straight
Punty read:
Inspiritu (No.3) is the leader in the plot, and on Good 4 with the rail assisting, that's gold. The danger is La Chaparron (No.7), because she's not a panic buy, she's a "sit where you can and run through the gaps" type. Listen To Win (No.1) can place with the on-paper look, but the drift says he's been left alone in the market for a reason, and I'm not forcing a win bet. Ridgeback (No.8) is your entertainment, but for him to win, the tempo has to break and the field has to get shuffled.
Top 3 + Roughie ($13.00 pool)
★ PUNTY'S PICK 1. Inspiritu (No.3) — $2.60 / $1.20 🏆 2ND
Bet $13.00 Win — ✗ Lost, net -$13.00
Prob 39.7% | Place: 70.0% | Value: 1.21x
Why He's going to be on the speed without doing anything silly, and the straight-line sprint should suit.
2. La Chaparron (No.7) — $4.50 / $1.60 🏆 WINNER
Bet Tracked
Prob 19.4% | Place: 60.6% | Value: 1.13x
Why A real chance — but at $1.60 the place the numbers don't give me enough edge to insure with. Watching, not betting.
3. Nutbush Dancer (No.4) — $5.30 / $1.65 🏆 3RD
Bet Tracked
Prob 16.2% | Place: 53.5% | Value: 0.90x
Why A real chance — but at $1.65 the place the numbers don't give me enough edge to insure with. Watching, not betting.
Roughie: Ridgeback (No.8) — $10.00 / $2.55 🏆 UNPLACED
Bet Tracked
Prob 6.9% | Place: 32.7% | Value: 0.51x
Why For him to win, the race has to collapse in front and he needs clear air to swoop through the rail lane.
Race type: MAIDEN, 1300m
Map & tempo: Genuine Pace, leaders are favoured, midfield can still cash late if the speed holds
Punty read:
Macaroon (No.2) is the obvious engine, and 1300m with a genuine pace gives him the run he wants, straight onto the timeline then control it. Three Wishes (No.4) is the exact type that can swing at the business end if the leader gets tapped for pressure. Invasion (No.9) is there too, but he's the kind who needs the race to stay honest rather than turn into a slow-mo parade. Bound For Pattaya (No.7) is your "if they're scrambling" roughie, but I'm mainly respecting Macaroon to do the job early.
Top 3 + Roughie ($13.00 pool)
★ PUNTY'S PICK 1. Macaroon (No.2) — $2.55 / $1.25 🏆 WINNER
Bet $13.00 Win — ✓ Won, net +$20.15
Prob 40.4% | Place: 70.0% | Value: 1.56x
Why Jump and lead, simple as that, and the pace helps him do exactly that.
2. Three Wishes (No.4) — $5.50 / $1.65 🏆 3RD
Bet Tracked
Prob 12.8% | Place: 46.1% | Value: 0.91x

Roughie: Bound For Pattaya (No.7) — $9.50 / $2.50 🏆 UNPLACED
Bet Tracked
Prob 8.4% | Place: 34.2% | Value: 0.53x
Why His path is chaos, if the race rhythm throws him a gap and the leader gets jumped.
Race type: MAIDEN, 1000m
Map & tempo: Moderate Pace, speed matters a lot, mid runners need to jump and sit handy
Punty read:
This is 1000m, so excuses are loud and winning is quiet. Camden Cove (No.1) looks like the bloke who gets to the front early and then just has to keep doing the same thing, over and over, like a karaoke track you know by heart. Kennedy Compound (No.4) is the value of a midfield trip, if he gets a run through. Shade (No.11) has the profile to grab a slice late, especially if the speed is strong early and legs start changing gear. Eddy The Greyt (No.7) is the roughie, the sort that can pop up if the race breaks open.
Top 3 + Roughie ($15.00 pool)
1. Camden Cove (No.1) — $3.20 / $1.45 🏆 4TH
Bet $15.00 Win — ✗ Lost, net -$15.00
Prob 24.7% | Place: 55.5% | Value: 1.22x
Why He gets into the race early, and sprint maidens usually reward the simplest plan.
2. Kennedy Compound (No.4) — $3.70 / $1.55 🏆 WINNER
Bet Tracked
Prob 21.8% | Place: 49.9% | Value: 0.97x
Why A real chance — but at $1.55 the place the numbers don't give me enough edge to insure with. Watching, not betting.
3. Shade (No.11) — $4.80 / $1.80 🏆 UNPLACED
Bet Tracked
Prob 15.4% | Place: 46.1% | Value: 0.89x
Why A real chance — but at $1.80 the place the numbers don't give me enough edge to insure with. Watching, not betting.
Roughie: Eddy The Greyt (No.7) — $20.00 / $2.75 🏆 3RD
Bet Tracked
Prob 7.2% | Place: 27.8% | Value: 1.20x
Why If the pace scrambles late, he's got the tools to sneak a place at a price, even if it's unlikely to win.
Race type: CLASS 1, 2100m
Map & tempo: Slow Pace, so patience and position win races here
Punty read:
At 2100m on a slow tempo, you don't sprint for glory on the turn, you save it for the straight. Gosh Almighty (No.9) maps in midfield with the class, but Wizard's Star (No.7) is the place-leverage play in this sort of race shape, he'll be hanging around the right part of the track when it matters. Liyah's Girl (No.1) can do the heavy lifting early, then keep finding. Minister Garrett (No.5) is your roughie, but he needs the kind of late run that only shows up when the field fans out.
Top 3 + Roughie ($5.25 pool)
1. Liyah's Girl (No.1) — $2.75 / $1.15
Bet $5.25 Each Way ($2.62W + $2.62P) — ⊘ Abandoned · bet voided (stake refunded)
Prob 33.9% | Place: 70.0% | Value: 1.16x
Why Big staying shape, slow tempo helps her get into the right rhythm without being rushed.
2. Gosh Almighty (No.9) — $1.91 / $1.07
Bet Tracked
Prob 35.3% | Place: 70.0% | Value: 0.78x
Why He's the class angle, but he's priced like a sure thing and that's where you get robbed.
3. Wizard's Star (No.7) — $6.00 / $1.65
Bet Tracked
Prob 12.3% | Place: 46.1% | Value: 1.37x
Why He's built for the place spots at this track setup, and can run into the finish if timing is right.
Roughie: Minister Garrett (No.5) — $19.00 / $3.20
Bet Tracked
Prob 4.4% | Place: 24.4% | Value: 0.93x
Why Needs a big late pop, the sort of run you only get when the pace drifts and the gaps appear.
Race type: BENCHMARK 66, 1600m
Map & tempo: Slow Pace, leaders don't necessarily sprint away, they just dictate
Punty read:
Nomorenightshift (No.1) is the one to trust because he's proven at this sort of grind, and when it's slow, the best horses can still take your lunch money in the straight. Yes Siree (No.2) looks like the one who can be there early then run through. Naval Officer (No.7) is the midfield mover who can pick up pieces if there's a lull in the middle stages. Delrico (No.3) is the roughie, but he's got to find extra gear late, because the market doesn't scream "easy win."
Top 3 + Roughie ($10.68 pool)
1. Nomorenightshift (No.1) — $2.60 / $1.17 🏆 UNPLACED
Bet $10.68 Win — ✗ Lost, net -$10.68
Prob 31.6% | Place: 40.7% | Value: 0.98x
Why Slow tempo suits, blinkers back on again, and he's built to keep taking ground late.
2. Yes Siree (No.2) — $3.30 / $1.70 🏆 WINNER
Bet Tracked
Prob 28.3% | Place: 39.5% | Value: 1.08x
Why Only two places paid in a field this size, and skinny place divvies make savers a mug's game — this is a win-only race. Tracked, not staked.
3. Naval Officer (No.7) — $6.00 / $2.50 🏆 2ND
Bet Tracked
Prob 17.4% | Place: 32.7% | Value: 1.06x
Why Short field, two places, thin divvies — the pool stays on the two bets that earn it. He's on the watch list.
Roughie: Delrico (No.3) — $16.00 / $4.40 🏆 UNPLACED
Bet Tracked
Prob 5.1% | Place: 11.5% | Value: 0.82x
Why Needs traffic luck and a late acceleration, because from midfield at 1600m, you need timing.
Race type: BENCHMARK 58, 1000m
Map & tempo: Moderate Pace, sprint pressure, on-pace runners take control quickly
Punty read:
Patrika Express (No.4) is the leader, and leaders at 1000m can either pinch it or get caught by the next rail-grinder. Vicious Rumour (No.6) is the danger with a proper on-pace engine, and Can Do It (No.3) is the type who can slot and then take a run at the right moment. Giovanna Star (No.11) is the roughie, she's an "if she gets luck" play, and Notabadchassis (No.10) is a sneaky place hope but not the focus.
Top 3 + Roughie ($10.50 pool)
★ PUNTY'S PICK 1. Patrika Express (No.4) — $1.29 / $1.01 🏆 2ND
Bet $10.50 Win — ✗ Lost, net -$10.50
Prob 42.6% | Place: 70.0% | Value: 0.67x
Why He's the one to control the tempo early, and on Good 4, the speed holds more often.
2. Vicious Rumour (No.6) — $9.60 / $1.85 🏆 WINNER
Bet Tracked
Prob 13.0% | Place: 46.1% | Value: 1.71x
Why A real chance — but at $1.85 the place the numbers don't give me enough edge to insure with. Watching, not betting.
3. Can Do It (No.3) — $16.00 / $2.70 🏆 3RD
Bet Tracked
Prob 6.8% | Place: 32.2% | Value: 1.41x
Why A real chance — but at $2.70 the place the numbers don't give me enough edge to insure with. Watching, not betting.
Roughie: Giovanna Star (No.11) — $21.00 / $3.40 🏆 4TH
Bet Tracked
Prob 6.2% | Place: 28.9% | Value: 1.74x
Why If the leader gets challenged early and she can slot, she can mow late without warning.
Race type: CLASS 1, 1300m
Map & tempo: Moderate Pace, place leverage matters, midfield lanes can improve late
Punty read:
This race is a minefield of "almost" types, so I'm leaning on the ones that can be in the right spot when the race turns into a sprint. Written Story (No.4) is on-potential speed, Tigletta (No.3) is the place leverage magnet if the pace holds up and she gets a tidy run, and Swift Gun (No.2) is right there too because he's on the earlier side of the track. Tiye (No.7) is a roughie with a live sprint finish if she's not stuck too deep. Rule Of Faith (No.1) is the steady each-way type, but at this stage, I want the faster process horses.
Top 3 + Roughie ($13.00 pool)
1. Written Story (No.4) — $3.10 / $1.52 🏆 UNPLACED
Bet $13.00 Win — ✗ Lost, net -$13.00
Prob 24.7% | Place: 70.0% | Value: 0.92x
Why He maps on the pace and can land in front, then he just has to hold the momentum.
2. Tigletta (No.3) — $5.50 / $1.85 🏆 4TH
Bet Tracked
Prob 22.2% | Place: 70.0% | Value: 1.25x
Why A real chance — but at $1.85 the place the numbers don't give me enough edge to insure with. Watching, not betting.
3. Swift Gun (No.2) — $9.50 / $2.75 🏆 2ND
Bet Tracked
Prob 9.9% | Place: 46.1% | Value: 1.48x
Why A real chance — but at $2.75 the place the numbers don't give me enough edge to insure with. Watching, not betting.
Roughie: Tiye (No.7) — $10.00 / $3.00 🏆 UNPLACED
Bet Tracked
Prob 9.9% | Place: 46.1% | Value: 1.19x
Why Needs a clean run and a late kick, that's the only way she turns this into a big surprise.
That's the ticket as I struck it — the legs below are exactly what ran, no rewriting history.
Smart: 1,9,8 / 1,3,2 / 4,6,3,11 / 4,7,1 (108 combos x $0.19 = $20.00) -- 19% flexi
The day's multi leans on three win legs across the card.
1 - Inspiritu (Race 1, No.3)✗ — $2.46
2 - Macaroon (Race 2, No.2)✓ Won — $2.20
3 - Camden Cove (Race 3, No.1)✗ — $3.30

Punty's Early Mail
Rightio Loose Units, Orange on Good 4 with the rail +3.5m from 500 to 300, so yeah, the inside is alive and well, and the outside boys are gonna have to work for their rent. Pace map says genuine stuff early, then the course goes a bit "let's see who's got legs" through the middle. Keep it simple, chase the right styles, and don't overthink it like you're trying to solve a Rubik's Cube at a barbecue.
Today's spine is a three-headed monster: Inspiritu, Macaroon, and Camden Cove. They're the types I want on side when the race shape lines up and you can picture the race unfolding, not guessing at it. After that, we sprinkle in the roughies that can blow the dividend up if the tempo goes right, because that's how we keep the day interesting (and stop me from crying into my betting slip).
MEET SNAPSHOT
Track: Good 4, short to classic-ish range 1000m to 2100m card
Rail: +3.5m 500m-300m cutaway applies
Official going: Good 4 (expected to play forward-ish, rail helps)
Weather: Sunny, 14°C, humidity 53%, wind 9km/h NNE (watch for the rail effect, no rain in sight)
Early lane guess: Leaders and on-pace stalkers early, then runners who can hold a position through the bend
Tempo profile: Genuine pace early in the mid-distance races, sprint races looking punchy, stayers more about position and acceleration
Jockeys to follow:
Donovan Dillon: right in the mix in the sprints and midfield movers
Jacob Stiff: gets the jobs done when horses are allowed to travel
Ms Louise Day: strong hand on the forward-style chances
Stables to respect:
Ms A Smith (9 runners): keeps bringing them back and asks questions early
Bjorn Baker (6 runners): when he targets maidens, they usually aren't there for vibes
G Portelli (4 runners): loves a live longshot and can sneak one into the finish
Punty's take:
Race 1 at 1400m is the "who settles, who holds" battle. Inspiritu maps to lead and has that sharp sectionals profile, while La Chaparron looks like the kind of maiden that runs on without needing the front end to fall apart. Listen To Win drifted out and that screams "maybe just a place job today" rather than a full-time win mission.
Race 2 at 1300m is the Macaroon show if he jumps and gets to that sweet rhythm. The pace is genuinely helped by the leaders, and this is exactly where maidens can suddenly turn into "oh, okay, they've got it." Three Wishes and Invasion are the danger lanes, both with claims to run into the placings if the leader gets pressured.
Race 3 at 1000m is a blitz and the top three are built for it. Camden Cove is the early speed picture, Kennedy Compound has the right midfield journey for a sprint, and Shade is sitting there like a coin-toss that actually has form on it. If you're tempted to go wide, Nightwalker is the sort of chaos that happens when a plan survives.
What it means for you:
You play this meeting by backing what you can see: leaders and on-pace runners holding their spot, especially where the tempo is genuine and the rail isn't killing you. Where there's drifting, I respect it, but I only upgrade when the run style matches the map and the gear angles. Where there's value, I go hunting.
So yes, go aggressive in the win lanes where we've got the profile, but protect yourself with place leverage in the races that look like they're going to be tight late. And for the sequences, keep the legs tight early, because big fields and long shots are how quaddies turn into expensive diaries.
