Rightio Ticket Munchers, nine races in the rain at Sha Tin with a 24.8°C hot and sticky afternoon, a 7km/h north-easterly, and 10.4mm of rain already on the ground. The speed is spread across the card, the big bet lands on a horse that has barely raced at this track, and the quaddie is a ticket for the brave.

MEET SNAPSHOT

Track: Sha Tin, 1200m to 1800m card
Rail: True
Official going: Not given in today's data, so check the rating before you bet
Weather: Rain, 24.8°C, wind 7km/h NE, rainfall 10.4mm
Early lane guess: unknown pre-race, watch the first two
Tempo profile: Moderate in R1, R2, R3, R7 and R9. Genuine in R4, R5 and R6. Hot in R8, where five runners are shown as leaders, so the closers have the best chance at the back end of the card.
Jockeys to follow:
Alexis Badel: nine rides, including Better And Better in R5 and Happy Tercentenary in R6.
Andrea Atzeni: nine rides, including Leading Dragon in R5, Night Purosangue in R6 and Supreme Agility in R9.
Karis Teetan: eight rides, including Perfect Team in R6, the each-way Race 6 pick, plus Winning Diamond in R2 and Red Sea in R8.
Stables to respect:
D A Hayes (9 runners): nine runners on the card, with Bustling City in R8 and Precision Hope in R4 the eye-catchers.
A S Cruz (8 runners): eight runners spread around, including Happydearhappydeer in R1 and Good Luck Happy in R5.
Mark Newnham (8 runners): eight runners, headed by Armour War Eagle in R5 and Bull Attitude in R4.

Punty's take: The speed is the story. R4, R5 and R6 are Genuine Pace races with a clear leader in each, so the backmarkers have a real chance to run into the placings if the leaders come back to them. R8 is the hot one, with Bustling City, Causeway King, Lucy In The Sky, Red Sea and Notthesillyone all shown as leaders. Something has to give in that race, and I'd rather be the bloke waiting at the back than the one up front. R3 has Macanese Master and Colourful Winner on the lead, so that one is a moderate pace with two blokes who want to be out in front. R1 is the messiest race on the card, with nobody shown as a leader and the early speed split between ON-PACE and MIDFIELD runners. That is chaos country.

Track-wise, the races are wide open. Almost every race sits at a top probability under 15%, which is Sha Tin speak for "nobody is going to bank this for you." That is exactly why the staked races are staked at the price they are and the rest of the card gets a no bet.

What it means for you: Keep the day tight. There are three staked selections on the card: Oriental Surprise each way in R2, Colourful Winner each way in R3, and Yoda's Choice each way in R4. Add Perfect Team each way in R6 and Gorgeous Win to win in R9, and you have the day's real money. Races 1, 5, 7 and 8 are no bet, and the Big 3 multi is built from horses that the card is leaning on.

The quaddie (R6 to R9) is a wide ticket for a reason. Four open races means four chances for the form to get shaken up, so the hit rate is low. Keep the spend small if you are chasing it, and treat it as entertainment rather than a plan.

PUNTY'S BIG 3 + MULTI

These are the three bets the day leans on.

1 - Giant Leap (Race 7, No.4) — $8.00
Why On-pace from a barrier 8 in a moderate-paced 1200m race, with the best time rank on the card in the race's sectional lines and the fastest closing time, and Nichola Yuen riding with a 14.5% combo strike rate with this trainer.
2 - Armour War Eagle (Race 5, No.1) — $11.00
Why A backmarker from barrier 11 with fastest sectionals in all three categories, 4 wins from 41 career starts, and 3 wins from 27 starts on good ground, so the price is generous for a horse with that profile.
3 - Oriental Surprise (Race 2, No.9) — $5.00
Why On-pace in a moderate-paced race with 14.7% win and 34.9% place chances on my numbers, a horse that lives in the placings and has finished in the top three 15 times from 32 starts.

Multi (all three to win): $10 × 440.00 = $4400.00

Race 1 – Wa Mei Shan Hcp

Race type: Class 5, 1650m
Map & tempo: Moderate Pace, no runner shown as a leader. ON-PACE: Happydearhappydeer (No.8), Go Go Go (No.10), Turf Phoenix (No.11). MIDFIELD: Team Happy (No.2), Hailtothevictors (No.3), Kolachi (No.9). BACKMARKER: Lucky Secret (No.1), My Flying Angel (No.4), Yee Cheong Raider (No.5), Happy Action (No.6), Superb Guy (No.7).
Punty read: No bet on this one. Nobody is shown as a leader, so the early pace is a lottery and the first two out of the gates will decide the shape. Team Happy is the one that jumps out of the form with a 1 on the end of his string, but the price is short enough that I'm not going to shove money on him. Hailtothevictors has the sectionals that make you sit up, but a midfield run in a messy race is not my idea of a bet. The danger is the back half of the field, because a moderate pace gives the closers a chance to come into it late.

Top 3 + Roughie ($15.00 pool)

1. Team Happy (No.2) — $8.00 / place tote
Bet $15.00 Each Way ($7.50W + $7.50P), collects $60.00 plus the tote place dividend if it wins, the tote place dividend if it only places
Prob 13.0% | Place: 23.7% | Value: 1.04x
Why Midfield in a race with no shown leader, his form string ends in a 1, and he has 4 wins from 34 career starts and 3 wins from 28 on good ground. The obvious pick and the obvious worry.
2. Hailtothevictors (No.3) — $6.00 / place tote
Bet Tracked
Prob 12.9% | Place: 32.4% | Value: 0.77x
Why The top pick's each-way already covers the place angle here — doubling up is paying twice for the same insurance. Tracked instead.
3. My Flying Angel (No.4) — $3.00 / place tote
Bet Tracked
Prob 12.4% | Place: 32.5% | Value: 0.37x
Why A backmarker who can run on if the pace stays moderate, with 1 win from 24 starts at Sha Tin and a 9.4% combo strike rate with Alexis Badel.
Roughie: Yee Cheong Raider (No.5) — $11.00 / place tote
Bet Tracked
Prob 9.2% | Place: 23.7% | Value: 1.01x
Why Backmarker from barrier 11 with 5 seconds from 22 starts at Sha Tin. If the leaders stop and the closers come home, a horse with that much sitting-up form can hit the frame.

Race 2 – Wa Mei Shan Hcp

Race type: Class 5, 1650m
Map & tempo: Moderate Pace. ON-PACE: Oriental Surprise (No.9), He Was Me (No.3), Celestial Harmony (No.6), The Concentration (No.4). MIDFIELD: Diamond Sparkle (No.1), Viva Taste (No.7), Kasa Papa (No.8), Mazing Grace (No.10), Speedy Trident (No.12). BACKMARKER: Flying Sniper (No.2), Flash Star (No.5), Winning Diamond (No.11).
Punty read: Oriental Surprise is the each-way bet, and the reason is simple. He is ON-PACE from barrier 5 with a 0-6-4 career line, which means he has been placed a lot without winning. He has been a placegetter at this level and the 34.9% place chance is the real case for the bet. The win price is the bonus. He Was Me is the one to watch, a speed rank of 1 with 3 wins from 26 career starts, and Winning Diamond is the closer who can sneak into it late if the early speed burns off.

Top 3 + Roughie ($9.00 pool)

1. Oriental Surprise (No.9) — $5.00 / place tote
Bet $9.00 Each Way ($4.50W + $4.50P), collects $22.50 plus the tote place dividend if it wins, the tote place dividend if it only places
Prob 14.7% | Place: 30.2% | Value: 0.73x
Why On-pace with a speed rank of 7, 0-6-4 from 32 career starts on the placings, and Nichola Yuen has a 15% last-100-rides strike rate, which is the sort of jockey form that gets a horse into the frame.
2. He Was Me (No.3) — $7.00 / place tote
Bet Tracked
Prob 14.3% | Place: 28.3% | Value: 1.00x
Why The top pick's each-way already covers the place angle here — doubling up is paying twice for the same insurance. Tracked instead.
3. Winning Diamond (No.11) — $3.00 / place tote
Bet Tracked
Prob 12.7% | Place: 31.7% | Value: 0.38x
Why Backmarker with the fastest time sectional on the card in this race and L600 rank 3 with L400 rank 2, so if the pace is moderate, he is a real danger from the back.
Roughie: Flying Sniper (No.2) — $9.00 / place tote
Bet Tracked
Prob 9.3% | Place: 23.8% | Value: 0.84x
Why Backmarker from barrier 9 with a 0-0-0 Sha Tin record, so the path is tight. He needs a fast pace up front and a clear run in the straight.

Race 3 – Tsim Mei Fung Hcp

Race type: Class 5, 1200m
Map & tempo: Moderate Pace, with Macanese Master and Colourful Winner shown as leaders. LEADER: Macanese Master (No.8), Colourful Winner (No.11). ON-PACE: Robot Knight (No.1), So My Folks (No.6), Swagger Bro (No.9), Viva Chaleur (No.10). MIDFIELD: Turbo Jefferies (No.2), View All Things (No.3), Bullish Pride (No.4), Daily Trophy (No.5), Conrad The Great (No.7), Quick Money (No.12).
Punty read: Colourful Winner is the each-way bet. He is a leader from barrier 7 and Matthew Chadwick is not the rider, James Orman is. Orman's strike rate on the track is 14.3% over 9,173 rides, and Colourful Winner has 5 seconds from 22 Sha Tin starts, which is the sort of form that produces a placing even when it doesn't produce a win. Macanese Master is the one to fear, a leader who knows how to lead from barrier 11 and has 7 seconds from 33 career starts. The danger is Viva Chaleur coming from ON-PACE, which he will do if the early speed is not as hot as it looks.

Top 3 + Roughie ($10.50 pool)

1. Colourful Winner (No.11) — $7.00 / place tote
Bet $10.50 Each Way ($5.25W + $5.25P), collects $36.75 plus the tote place dividend if it wins, the tote place dividend if it only places
Prob 14.6% | Place: 43.5% | Value: 1.02x
Why The leader with the best place chance in the race, and James Orman has a 14.3% strike rate at this track, so the rider has the sort of record that backs up a leader's chance.
2. Macanese Master (No.8) — $11.00 / place tote
Bet Tracked
Prob 11.0% | Place: 29.4% | Value: 1.21x
Why The top pick's each-way already covers the place angle here — doubling up is paying twice for the same insurance. Tracked instead.
3. Bullish Pride (No.4) — $6.00 / place tote
Bet Tracked
Prob 9.8% | Place: 30.2% | Value: 0.59x
Why Midfield from barrier 6, Alexis Badel has a 16.7% combo strike rate with this trainer, and a horse that can settle in the middle of the field may not need the pace to fall apart.
Roughie: Daily Trophy (No.5) — $10.00 / place tote
Bet Tracked
Prob 9.1% | Place: 30.3% | Value: 0.91x
Why Midfield from barrier 10 with 4 wins from 49 career starts and a Sha Tin record of 4-4-3 from 41 starts. He is the class horse in a race where the pace is unclear, so he can be the one who runs past tired leaders.

Race 4 – Tiu Yue Yung Hcp

Race type: Class 4, 1800m
Map & tempo: Genuine Pace, with Yoda's Choice shown as the leader. LEADER: Yoda's Choice (No.5). ON-PACE: Ragga Bomb (No.3), Storm Runner (No.7). MIDFIELD: Young Bravo (No.2), Noisy Boy (No.4), Firefoot (No.6), Bull Attitude (No.11), Glorious St Paul's (No.12). BACKMARKER: Turin Mascot (No.1), Leaping Star (No.8), Precision Hope (No.9), Supreme Mastermind (No.10).
Punty read: Yoda's Choice is the each-way bet, and it is the one that makes the most sense from the front. He is the only shown leader, from barrier 5, with 3 wins from 25 Sha Tin starts and 2 wins from 6 at this distance. Nichola Yuen has a 34.5% combo strike rate with this trainer, so the partnership is the real reason the bet is there. Turin Mascot is the one to fear if the pace collapses, a backmarker with 6 wins from 45 career starts and 3 wins from 5 second-up starts.

Top 3 + Roughie ($9.00 pool)

1. Yoda's Choice (No.5) — $5.00 / place tote
Bet $9.00 Each Way ($4.50W + $4.50P), collects $22.50 plus the tote place dividend if it wins, the tote place dividend if it only places
Prob 13.2% | Place: 29.2% | Value: 0.66x
Why The only shown leader in a Genuine Pace race, 3 wins from 25 Sha Tin starts with 7 seconds, and Nichola Yuen's 34.5% combo strike rate with the trainer is the kind of stat that makes me want to ride along.
2. Turin Mascot (No.1) — $2.00 / place tote
Bet Tracked
Prob 12.2% | Place: 25.1% | Value: 0.24x
Why The top pick's each-way already covers the place angle here — doubling up is paying twice for the same insurance. Tracked instead.
3. Bull Attitude (No.11) — $8.00 / place tote
Bet Tracked
Prob 12.0% | Place: 29.0% | Value: 0.96x
Why Midfield from barrier 8 with the fastest time sectional in the race and 1 win from 18 Sha Tin starts. Mark Newnham and Lyle Hewitson make a useful combination on the card.
Roughie: Young Bravo (No.2) — $11.00 / place tote
Bet Tracked
Prob 9.8% | Place: 24.7% | Value: 1.08x
Why Midfield from barrier 11 with 1 win from 3 Sha Tin starts and a good-going record of 1 win and 1 second from 5 starts. The strapping James Orman ride is what makes the price worth a look.

Race 5 – Shek Uk Shan Hcp

Race type: Class 4, 1200m
Map & tempo: Genuine Pace, with Leading Dragon shown as the leader. LEADER: Leading Dragon (No.5). ON-PACE: Endurance Express (No.2), Flowing Riches (No.4), Good Luck Happy (No.8). MIDFIELD: Central Bank (No.3), Starry Show (No.7), Better And Better (No.9), Everstar (No.11), View Of Cosmos (No.12). BACKMARKER: Armour War Eagle (No.1), Raging Warrior (No.6), Good Power (No.10).
Punty read: No bet in this one, and the reason is the price on the leader. Armour War Eagle is the horse I would be worried about if you were on the outside. He comes from the back with fastest sectionals across the board and a Good record of 3 wins from 27 starts, so I'm watching him closely. Leading Dragon has the speed to lead, but a 1200m Genuine Pace race means somebody has to chase him down and that person is most likely Armour War Eagle.

Top 3 + Roughie ($15.00 pool)

1. Armour War Eagle (No.1) — $11.00 / place tote
Bet $15.00 Each Way ($7.50W + $7.50P), collects $82.50 plus the tote place dividend if it wins, the tote place dividend if it only places
Prob 16.7% | Place: 40.9% | Value: 1.84x
Why Fastest sectionals on the card at L600, L400 and time, 3 wins from 27 starts on good ground and 2 wins from 32 at Sha Tin. A backmarker in a genuine pace is exactly where he wants to be.
2. Leading Dragon (No.5) — $2.00 / place tote
Bet Tracked
Prob 12.8% | Place: 39.1% | Value: 0.26x
Why The top pick's each-way already covers the place angle here — doubling up is paying twice for the same insurance. Tracked instead.
3. Flowing Riches (No.4) — $6.00 / place tote
Bet Tracked
Prob 12.7% | Place: 41.6% | Value: 0.76x
Why On-pace from barrier 6, with 2 wins from 14 Sha Tin starts and a 10.7% combo strike rate with Vincent Ho.
Roughie: Better And Better (No.9) — $12.00 / place tote
Bet Tracked
Prob 9.7% | Place: 32.8% | Value: 1.16x
Why Midfield from barrier 12 with L600 rank 2 and L400 rank 2 sectionals, so if the leader gets run down late he is the one who will be coming home fast.

Race 6 – Tin Ha Shan Hcp

Race type: Class 4, 1650m
Map & tempo: Genuine Pace, with Night Purosangue shown as the leader. LEADER: Night Purosangue (No.5). ON-PACE: Happy Universe (No.1), Another World (No.2), Chill Kaka (No.6), Massive Glory (No.14). MIDFIELD: Excellence Value (No.4), Hero Rising (No.8), Lucky Bid (No.12), Family Knight (No.13). BACKMARKER: Happy Tercentenary (No.3), California Star (No.7), Perfect Team (No.9), Joltin (No.10), Kyoto Spring (No.11).
Punty read: Perfect Team is the each-way bet. He is the backmarker who should get the run if the speed up front is as strong as the card suggests. He has 4 wins from 38 good-going starts, 2 wins from 20 at this distance, and his sectionals rank 2 at L400 and time, so he is the horse I want if the leaders come back to the field. Chill Kaka has the best place chance on the card and is the one you have to respect, while Another World is the on-pace danger with the fastest 600m and 400m sectionals.

Top 3 + Roughie ($10.50 pool)

1. Perfect Team (No.9) — $3.00 / place tote
Bet $10.50 Each Way ($5.25W + $5.25P), collects $15.75 plus the tote place dividend if it wins, the tote place dividend if it only places
Prob 13.1% | Place: 26.9% | Value: 0.39x
Why Backmarker from barrier 3 with 4 wins from 38 good-going starts and 3 seconds, and the L400 and time sectionals both rank 2. In a genuine pace race, that closing ability is the key.
2. Chill Kaka (No.6) — $13.00 / place tote
Bet Tracked
Prob 12.8% | Place: 24.9% | Value: 1.66x
Why The top pick's each-way already covers the place angle here — doubling up is paying twice for the same insurance. Tracked instead.
3. Another World (No.2) — $14.00 / place tote
Bet Tracked
Prob 10.0% | Place: 22.8% | Value: 1.40x
Why On-pace from barrier 14, 4 wins from 16 good-going starts, and the fastest L600 and L400 sectionals in the race. Vincent Ho rides him and the combo has been quiet, but the sectionals are real.
Roughie: Hero Rising (No.8) — $9.00 / place tote
Bet Tracked
Prob 7.3% | Place: 18.6% | Value: 0.65x
Why Midfield from barrier 9 with four career starts and no placings yet, but the L600 rank 2 and fastest time sectional show the ability. If the pace is genuine and he sits in behind, he may pick off a tired leader.

Race 7 – Shek Uk Shan Hcp

Race type: Class 4, 1200m
Map & tempo: Moderate Pace, with Honest Witness and One Man Show shown as leaders. LEADER: Honest Witness (No.1), One Man Show (No.6). ON-PACE: Giant Leap (No.4), Noble Deluxe (No.10), Loving Vibes (No.12). MIDFIELD: Mega Captain (No.2), Wolf Coming (No.3), Good Chap (No.5), California Bay (No.8), Call Me Success (No.11). BACKMARKER: Rising From Ashes (No.9). UNKNOWN: Trophy Raider (No.7).
Punty read: No bet in this one, but Giant Leap is the horse on the top of the list. He is on-pace from barrier 8 with the fastest time sectional on the card in his line, 4 wins from 34 distance starts and 2 wins from 25 good-going starts. He is the leader of the market, so the price is short for a horse that wants a tidy run. Loving Vibes is the danger from the on-pace group, with a speed rank of 1 and 3 seconds at this track from 11 starts. Mega Captain is the one with the form to run into a place from midfield.

Top 3 + Roughie ($15.00 pool)

1. Giant Leap (No.4) — $8.00 / place tote
Bet $15.00 Each Way ($7.50W + $7.50P), collects $60.00 plus the tote place dividend if it wins, the tote place dividend if it only places
Prob 17.1% | Place: 41.6% | Value: 1.37x
Why On-pace from barrier 8 and the fastest time sectional in the race, with Nichola Yuen's 14.5% combo strike rate with the trainer. The pace is moderate, so he has an easy run to lead the chase.
2. Loving Vibes (No.12) — $2.00 / place tote
Bet Tracked
Prob 14.8% | Place: 45.8% | Value: 0.30x
Why The top pick's each-way already covers the place angle here — doubling up is paying twice for the same insurance. Tracked instead.
3. Mega Captain (No.2) — $6.00 / place tote
Bet Tracked
Prob 13.3% | Place: 40.6% | Value: 0.80x
Why Midfield from barrier 6 with 1 win from 5 career starts and a second, so the form is tight and the Sha Tin record is solid enough to be a placing threat.
Roughie: Good Chap (No.5) — $11.00 / place tote
Bet Tracked
Prob 8.8% | Place: 30.2% | Value: 0.97x
Why Midfield from barrier 11 with 2 wins from 12 career starts and a 17.5% combo strike rate with Andrea Atzeni. If the leaders get tired, the closing sectionals are good enough to hit the frame.

Race 8 – Hebe Hill Hcp

Race type: Class 3, 1200m
Map & tempo: Hot Pace, with five runners shown as leaders. LEADER: Lucy In The Sky (No.3), Bustling City (No.4), Causeway King (No.8), Red Sea (No.9), Notthesillyone (No.11). ON-PACE: Self Improvement (No.1), Blazing Wind (No.2), Sky Cap (No.6). MIDFIELD: Straight To Glory (No.5), Must Go (No.7), Zhuang Yuan Glory (No.10), Hott Shott (No.12).
Punty read: No bet on this one. Five leaders in a 1200m race means the front end is going to be brutal, and that is where I'd be looking first. Causeway King is the one I'd respect most, a leader with fastest time sectional on the card and 3 wins from 6 at this distance. Straight To Glory is the horse who can run through the pace collapse with fastest L600 and L400 sectionals. The danger is Bustling City, who has a 13.6% jockey strike rate at this track and a 2-3-1 record over the distance.

Top 3 + Roughie ($15.00 pool)

1. Causeway King (No.8) — $11.00 / place tote
Bet $15.00 Each Way ($7.50W + $7.50P), collects $82.50 plus the tote place dividend if it wins, the tote place dividend if it only places
Prob 13.7% | Place: 41.0% | Value: 1.51x
Why Leader from barrier 11 with the fastest time sectional in the race and 3 wins from 6 starts at this distance. Nichola Yuen has a 15% last-100-rides strike rate, so she is the right rider to take the pace on.
2. Lucy In The Sky (No.3) — $3.00 / place tote
Bet Tracked
Prob 11.1% | Place: 30.9% | Value: 0.33x
Why The top pick's each-way already covers the place angle here — doubling up is paying twice for the same insurance. Tracked instead.
3. Blazing Wind (No.2) — $9.00 / place tote
Bet Tracked
Prob 8.4% | Place: 25.2% | Value: 0.76x
Why On-pace from barrier 9 with L600 rank 2 and L400 rank 3, and 4 wins from 26 Sha Tin starts. If the leaders go too hard, he can run into the placings from the second line.
Roughie: Straight To Glory (No.5) — $10.00 / place tote
Bet Tracked
Prob 8.7% | Place: 29.6% | Value: 0.87x
Why Midfield from barrier 10 with fastest L600 and L400 sectionals and 4 wins from 20 career starts. If the five leaders go too hard, he is the one who can come past them late.

Race 9 – Pyramid Hill Hcp

Race type: Class 3, 1650m
Map & tempo: Moderate Pace, with Mighty Steed and Pray For Justice shown as leaders. LEADER: Mighty Steed (No.10), Pray For Justice (No.13). ON-PACE: Sky Vino (No.4). MIDFIELD: Top Dragon (No.1), Lucky Sam Gor (No.3), Sovereign Fund (No.5), Dragon Air Force (No.6), Thunder Blaze (No.7), All Round Winner (No.9), Supreme Agility (No.14). BACKMARKER: Gorgeous Win (No.2), Nezha (No.11), Young Achiever (No.12). UNKNOWN: United Hua Steed (No.8).
Punty read: Gorgeous Win is the win bet, and the reason is the form on this track. He is a backmarker from barrier 2 with 6 wins from 35 Sha Tin starts and 6 wins from 31 on good ground, and Nichola Yuen has a 15% last-100-rides strike rate at the track. The moderate pace suits a horse who can run down the field. The danger is Supreme Agility from midfield with the fastest time sectional, and Thunder Blaze who has a 13.6% jockey strike rate at the track.

Top 3 + Roughie ($9.00 pool)

1. Gorgeous Win (No.2) — $2.00 / place tote
Bet $9.00 Win, return $18.00
Prob 10.6% | Place: 27.3% | Value: 0.21x
Why Backmarker from barrier 2 with 6 wins from 35 Sha Tin starts and the best good-going record on the card, so if the leaders stop the bloke at the back is the one collecting.
2. Supreme Agility (No.14) — $12.00 / place tote
Bet Tracked
Prob 10.0% | Place: 17.7% | Value: 1.20x
Why A real chance — but at that price the place the numbers don't give me enough edge to insure with. Watching, not betting.
3. Thunder Blaze (No.7) — $13.00 / place tote
Bet Tracked
Prob 9.4% | Place: 24.3% | Value: 1.22x
Why Midfield from barrier 13 with 1 win from 4 good-going starts and 1 win from 5 first-up runs. Brenton Avdulla has a 13.6% strike rate at Sha Tin, so he is a danger.
Roughie: Sky Vino (No.4) — $11.00 / place tote
Bet Tracked
Prob 6.8% | Place: 17.3% | Value: 0.74x
Why On-pace from barrier 11 with the fastest L600 sectional and 4 wins from 25 career starts. If the two leaders go slow, he can sit close and pounce.

SEQUENCE LANES

QUADDIE (R6–R9)

Smart: 9 / 4 / 8 / 2 (1 combos x $5.00 = $5.00) -- 500% flexi
Punty's take: Race 7 is the tightest leg with three runners, and the other three legs are wide open with four runners each. Four open races means this is a chaos ticket, with the hit probability low and the outlay high. The flexi sits above the 30% floor, but it is still an entertainment-first ticket, so keep the spend to what you are happy to lose.

NUGGETS FROM THE TRACK

1 - Yoda's Choice and Nichola Yuen
Nichola Yuen has a 34.5% combo strike rate with the trainer from 29 rides, with 10 wins from those 29, the strongest pairing on the card. Yoda's Choice is the only leader in Race 4, so that partnership matters.

2 - Armour War Eagle's Sha Tin form
Armour War Eagle has 2 wins from 32 Sha Tin starts with 8 seconds and 3 thirds, and 3 wins from 27 good-going starts. He is the one backmarker in Race 5 who can run through a genuine pace.

3 - Mega Captain's career line
Mega Captain has 1 win and 1 second from 5 career starts. He is the bloke who looks like the guy who turns up to the pub on a Monday with a plan and a winning ticket in his pocket, and then gets a bit too ambitious.

FINAL WORD FROM THE SICKO SANCTUARY

Eight races with no bet and two with stakes on the table, which is the sort of discipline I rarely pull off on a Wednesday. Keep the quaddie small, back the each-way bets with your eyes open, and let the leaders do the work for you.
