✗ MISS -$15 Final

Race type: Class 1, 2200m
Map & tempo: Slow pace, pace advantage Sealord, Amelioration, Buffalo Theory (all backmarker mapped)

Punty read:
This is a staying grind on a Soft 6, so don't expect fireworks, expect attrition. Amelioration is the one I want in the middle of it, because she's built to keep giving late, not just chase shadows early. Wobbles from rough runs look like they were interference and traffic related for the others, and that means the market might be a touch messy. Sealord is drift-suspect too, so I like him for the picture, but the cleaner win profile sits with Amelioration. Junostar is the nightmare underneath, Moana Nui the one that could snag a place if the race collapses.

Top 3 + Roughie ($15.00 pool)

★ PUNTY'S PICK 1. Amelioration (No.5) — $2.26 / $1.22 🏆 3RD
Bet $15.00 Win — ✗ Lost, net -$15.00
Prob 37.0% | Place: 69.0% | Value: 0.98x
Why Slow tempo suits her run style, and she's the one with the most "right kind of hard" finishing option.

2. Junostar (No.6) — $4.40 / $1.95 🏆 2ND
Bet Tracked
Prob 18.1% | Place: 44.4% | Value: 1.27x
Why Only two places paid in a field this size, and skinny place divvies make savers a mug's game — this is a win-only race. Tracked, not staked.

3. Moana Nui (No.2) — $5.20 / $1.95 🏆 WINNER
Bet Tracked
Prob 17.4% | Place: 40.7% | Value: 0.99x
Why Short field, two places, thin divvies — the pool stays on the two bets that earn it. He's on the watch list.

Roughie: Durness (No.3) — $9.00 / $3.10 🏆 UNPLACED
Bet Tracked
Prob 10.1% | Place: 23.4% | Value: 1.07x
Why If the tempo completely breaks and she hits clear ground at the finish, that's the only way she's winning.

✗ MISS -$10 Final

Race type: Maiden; 1000m
Map & tempo: Genuine pace, leaders Tramca and the speedy types

Punty read:
1000m on a Soft 6, that's sprint football. Boots looks the obvious gate-to-tape proposition, but I'm not married to "easy" when everyone's backing the same vibe. Pierantes and Betty's Boy are the value pieces because they're the ones with a real place engine if it stays genuine and the run home is messy.

Ninja Power with tongue tie first time is in my peripheral vision too, but at the short price range, you want the ones that can keep finding the line.

Top 3 + Roughie ($24.00 pool)

1. Boots (No.6) — $2.35 / $1.25 🏆 UNPLACED
Bet $17.50 Win — ✗ Lost, net -$17.50
Prob 27.6% | Place: 69.0% | Value: 0.83x
Why Genuine pace helps her stay on the right part of the track, and her place profile is usually solid on wet-ish decks.

2. Pierantes (No.11) — $6.60 / $2.10 🏆 WINNER
Bet $6.50 Place — ✓ Won, net +$7.15
Prob 15.0% | Place: 47.9% | Value: 1.20x
Why The gear goes on, and she's priced like she might just nick third while she's actually got value to hit the top end.

3. Betty's Boy (No.1) — $7.20 / $2.35 🏆 3RD
Bet Tracked
Prob 13.3% | Place: 47.0% | Value: 1.27x
Why If she lands close enough early, it's a classic "run into the money" maiden scenario.

Roughie: Boom Chika Wow (No.3) — $12.50 / $3.20 🏆 4TH
Bet Tracked
Prob 6.1% | Place: 21.7% | Value: 0.80x
Why She needs the speed to collapse and for that held-up last start to fully translate into a straight-up turn.

✗ MISS -$12 Final

Race type: Class 5, 1000m
Map & tempo: Moderate pace, Bonded Affair pace advantaged

Punty read:
This is a race for the ones that can actually hold position at 1000m without turning the trip into a panic. Chalice Well and Bonded Affair want to be in that on-pacer lane, but the real play is King Of The Jungle for value because he looks like the type to keep chewing through under pressure.

Flywheel is the rough end, and if she's going to surprise she'll do it from a clean run. But with only 2 places paid, I'm treating this like a "get the finish right" affair.

Top 3 + Roughie ($12.00 pool)

1. Chalice Well (No.5) — $2.70 🏆 3RD
Bet $12.00 Win — ✗ Lost, net -$12.00
Prob 23.3% | Place: 53.8% | Value: 0.79x
Why From the front end, she's hard to run down if the rain has taken a bite out of the deeper finishers.

2. Bonded Affair (No.3) — $3.40 🏆 WINNER
Bet Tracked
Prob 22.1% | Place: 54.9% | Value: 0.94x
Why Only two places paid in a field this size, and skinny place divvies make savers a mug's game — this is a win-only race. Tracked, not staked.

3. King Of The Jungle (No.7) — $6.50 / $3.00 🏆 UNPLACED
Bet Tracked
Prob 17.2% | Place: 40.3% | Value: 1.40x
Why The price is fair-ish for a horse that can keep finding when others are going backwards.

Roughie: Flywheel (No.1) — $18.00 / $4.50 🏆 UNPLACED

Prob 3.6% | Place: 12.2% | Value: 0.81x
Why She's a shock contender if the race falls apart early and she gets room late.

Race type: Benchmark 70, 1600m
Map & tempo: Slow pace, Boondocks and Hulkamania pick up pace advantage

Punty read:
1600m at this point of the card, Soft 6 and slow pace, means you want a horse that can sit close enough to switch off when it matters. Wrigley Field is the one that fits like a glove. June and Holy Flash are the danger zone if they get a run without wasting ground.

Boondocks is the type to do honest work and then keep running, but the win call sits with Wrigley Field.

Top 3 + Roughie ($19.50 pool)

★ PUNTY'S PICK 1. Wrigley Field (No.3) — $1.98 / $1.10 🏆 2ND
Bet $12.00 Win — ✗ Lost, net -$12.00
Prob 40.8% | Place: 69.0% | Value: 0.98x
Why He's got the cleanest path through this slow tempo, and he's not likely to be swallowed by the heavy later.

2. Boondocks (No.1) — $5.50 / $1.70 🏆 3RD
Bet $7.50 Place — ✓ Won, net +$5.25
Prob 16.8% | Place: 69.0% | Value: 1.13x
Why Big place profile on wet ground, and if the leaders stop, he just keeps rolling.

Bet Tracked
Prob 4.1% | Place: 19.2% | Value: 0.95x

✗ MISS -$15 Final

Race type: Class 3, 1200m
Map & tempo: Moderate pace, short-priced on-pacers carry the threat

Punty read:
1200m Soft 6 is where you either get a soft run, or you start losing chunks of ground. Razors looks like the one that can handle the "messy middle" and still hit the line. Col Burn is the annoying type, she can hit the placings and even more if the pace stays honest, but I prefer Razors for the win call and the place insurance is a sensible angle.

Influential is the value spinner, but Razors is the one with the simplest path. Vin Santo is there for a late wobble, not for a plan.

Top 3 + Roughie ($15.00 pool)

1. Razors (No.4) — $4.70 / $1.72 🏆 UNPLACED
Bet $15.00 Each Way ($7.50W + $7.50P) — ✗ Lost, net -$15.00
Prob 20.3% | Place: 62.1% | Value: 1.20x
Why Maps on the right part of the track and the blinkers should help her focus through the slog.

2. Col Burn (No.7) — $3.90 / $1.70 🏆 UNPLACED
Bet Tracked
Prob 16.4% | Place: 55.9% | Value: 0.80x
Why The top pick's each-way already covers the place angle here — doubling up is paying twice for the same insurance. Tracked instead.

3. Influential (No.9) — $5.00 / $1.90 🏆 UNPLACED
Bet Tracked
Prob 15.2% | Place: 62.8% | Value: 0.96x
Why Worth a look if the on-pacers tire and she gets a clean lane to grind home.

Roughie: Vin Santo (No.10) — $11.00 / $3.20 🏆 2ND
Bet Tracked
Prob 6.9% | Place: 24.1% | Value: 0.96x
Why If she finds the gap late and the leaders crumple, she can sneak a win, otherwise she's just a big price spectator.

✓ WON +$3 Final

Race type: Maiden; 1200m
Map & tempo: Slow pace, odd run styles, pace advantaged Ember Royale etc

Punty read:
This is another Soft 6 maiden where position matters more than ego. Storming Home has the right profile to keep finding and the price is not stupid. Ember Royale is the next threat with the best "run on through" potential, and Spirit Of Torque is a value place lean if she gets a run that isn't a highway.

Written Reality is the one I'd love if the race falls in a weird way, but we're not getting cute enough to bank on that.

Top 3 + Roughie ($24.00 pool)

1. Storming Home (No.11) — $3.65 / $1.65 SCR
Bet $20.00 Win — ✗ Lost, net +$0.00
Prob 20.7% | Place: 69.0% | Value: 0.97x
Why He's built for these conditions, and the midfield trip suits when the speed is slow enough to survive.

2. Ember Royale (No.14) — $4.80 / $1.77 🏆 WINNER
Bet $4.00 Place — ✓ Won, net +$3.08
Prob 17.3% | Place: 56.0% | Value: 1.14x
Why Back end staying power on Soft 6, and the way he's mapped gives him a real run at the line.

3. Spirit Of Torque (No.16) — $4.60 / $1.82 🏆 UNPLACED
Bet Tracked
Prob 16.5% | Place: 48.9% | Value: 0.64x
Why He can place if the race becomes a grind, but the win value is better with Storming Home and Ember Royale.

Roughie: Written Reality (No.17) — $9.50 / $3.10 🏆 3RD
Bet Tracked
Prob 7.7% | Place: 28.5% | Value: 0.70x

✗ MISS -$15 Final

Race type: Benchmark 60, 1800m
Map & tempo: Genuine pace, Family Of League and Old Faithful shaping

Punty read:
1800m with a genuine tempo means stamina has to show up, and you can't be too far back when it matters. Old Faithful is the bet because he's the one that keeps finding in these ground conditions. Family Of League is the other major danger and he's been performing the sort of races that turn into "one more push" wins when the pack bunches.

Mad Ana can still pop up late, but if you're building a plan, you go with Old Faithful and Family Of League and don't overthink it.

Top 3 + Roughie ($15.00 pool)

1. Old Faithful (No.2) — $2.66 / $1.20 🏆 2ND
Bet $10.00 Win — ✗ Lost, net -$10.00
Prob 30.6% | Place: 69.0% | Value: 1.01x
Why Genuine pace helps him hold rhythm, and that's gold on Soft 6 because it reduces the "stumble and sink" effect.

2. Family Of League (No.6) — $3.85 / $1.45 🏆 UNPLACED
Bet $5.00 Place — ✗ Lost, net -$5.00
Prob 24.9% | Place: 69.0% | Value: 1.19x
Why He's got the leader engine and keeps chewing, so if the leaders split, he's right in the fight.

Bet Tracked
Prob 11.6% | Place: 47.0% | Value: 1.01x

Race type: Maiden; 1800m
Map & tempo: Slow tempo, A Bit Dusty types at the back and Kowloon Magnate mid

Punty read:
This is the long-form maiden where the wrong trip turns into a whole race lost. Kowloon Magnate is the easy one to side with, because he's got the right run style, and he's proven enough to be dangerous even when others are hitting the line with more hype than composure.

Brass Band is the classic place threat, Bobby's My Mate is a value midfield chance, but for win confidence I'm keeping it simple: Kowloon Magnate first.

Top 3 + Roughie ($19.50 pool)

★ PUNTY'S PICK 1. Kowloon Magnate (No.8) — $2.20 / $1.17 🏆 2ND
Bet $17.00 Win — ✗ Lost, net -$17.00
Prob 40.0% | Place: 69.0% | Value: 1.21x
Why He maps midfield in a way that saves ground for the straight, and Soft 6 should suit a grinding type.

2. Brass Band (No.5) — $4.20 / $1.60 🏆 3RD
Bet $2.50 Place — ✓ Won, net +$1.50
Prob 17.9% | Place: 62.3% | Value: 0.69x

Punty's Early Mail

Rightio Loose Units, Sunshine Coast on a Soft 6 with the rail jammed out, and half the sky acting like it owns the joint. This track is basically a bog-fest agreement, so you want runners that can handle getting shuffled, keep their feet, and still run when others are swimming. No heroics needed, just the right kind of awkward.

First up, the Hcp is a staying slog on paper, and the speed profile screams "get through it" rather than "win by daylight". Then we sprint, where one hiccup at 1000m is the difference between a salute and a long stare at the tab app, wondering where you went wrong. After that, it's a whole lot of class lines and little tactical chess matches, with a couple of proper stinkers of overs and unders that I reckon are about to get punished.

MEET SNAPSHOT

Track: Sunshine Coast, 1100-2200m card
Rail: +2m Entire
Official going: Soft 6 (expected to play Speed on, but staying power pays)
Weather: Partly cloudy, gusty, rain risk high (watch for Sloppy track upgrades and late odds noise)
Early lane guess: Leaders can steal it, but the best blokes are usually stalking just off them
Tempo profile: Slow to moderate early, then races get spicy when they hit the straight
Jockeys to follow:
Tiffani Brooker: Gets horses positioning right when the ground is testing, loves a straight-line grind.
Brandon Lerena: Handles pressure well, and his rides tend to be "patient then violent" in these conditions.
Cejay Graham: Often gets the right trip, and when the market backs him, it's usually for a reason.
Stables to respect:
Tony & Maddysen Sears (4 runners): Their types handle interruptions, and they don't panic when the draw isn't perfect.
S W Kendrick (3 runners): Good at getting debut and fresh legs switched on, watch for bounce-back races.
Jack Bruce (3 runners): When he's sending, it's rarely a sightseeing mission.

Punty's take:

Sunshine Coast today is one of those meetings where the quicker you try to be a hero, the faster you end up donating your lunch money to the tote. Soft 6 makes everything longer, and the rail at +2m means you still want to be on the right part of the track, but you also get those "run through the line" finishers that look like they're floating.

My spine runs through the short-priced winners that actually fit the map and conditions. In the big races, I'm leaning into horses that either map to be handy, or get the chance to run over the top when others are cooked from racing a bit too hard.

What it means for you:

Aggression early is fine, but keep it smart. In Races 1, 4, 7 and 8, you're basically shopping for "can win on this ground" types, so I'm backing the ones that match the tempo and don't need everything to go right.

When we hit the roughies, I'm not hunting chaos for chaos sake. I want a path, like a gear tweak that should fix a problem, or a runner that got trapped and now gets a cleaner shot.
