✓ WON +$9 Final

Race type: Maiden, 800m
Map & tempo: Genuine Pace, leaders up early, with a wet-ish sprint grind
Punty read: Night Market is drawn to do the right thing, and Soft 5 usually rewards horses that can keep a rhythm. Xplain This is next best for the "sit and poke through" role, and Ready As Bam is there for value if the leaders fight and set up the finish. Belle Paradis is your get-out-of-jail "if the track plays tricks" option.

Top 3 + Roughie ($20.00 pool)

★ PUNTY'S PICK 1. Night Market (No.9) — $1.95 🏆 WINNER
Bet $15.00 Win — ✓ Won, net +$14.25

Why On-pacer with strong market grip and the best chance to keep steam late on Soft 5.

2. Xplain This (No.8) — $8.40 🏆 4TH
Bet $5.00 Place — ✗ Lost, net -$5.00
Prob 15.6% | Place: 53.7% | Value: 0.81x

Bet Tracked
Prob 11.0% | Place: 46.1% | Value: 0.77x

Bet Tracked
Prob 6.0% | Place: 32.7% | Value: 1.25x

✗ MISS -$10 Final

Race type: Maiden Plate, 1350m
Map & tempo: Slow Pace, chances for midfield that can find clear air
Punty read: Cautionary Tail is the speed anchor in a slow one, and slow races on Soft can turn into a stamina paywall where the right run through matters. Divinelle and Poised Tycoon look like they've got enough to be there turning for home, Heavenly Artist is the "keeps plugging" type, and Sweet Pickles is the roughie if the race goes oddly.

Top 3 + Roughie ($18.00 pool)

★ PUNTY'S PICK 1. Cautionary Tail (No.1) — $2.15 🏆 4TH
Bet $13.00 Win — ✗ Lost, net -$13.00
Prob 41.3% | Place: 70.0% | Value: 0.89x
Why Soft 5 suits a grinder, and the pace scenario gives him the best "forward and find more" chance.

2. Divinelle (No.8) — $3.70 🏆 WINNER
Bet $5.00 Place — ✓ Won, net +$3.00
Prob 18.2% | Place: 59.5% | Value: 0.67x

Bet Tracked
Prob 5.8% | Place: 27.9% | Value: 1.25x

Race type: Maiden Plate, 1350m
Map & tempo: Slow Pace, advantage to the one who can still quicken
Punty read: Testy Nic is the cleanest story, speed where it counts and gear to sharpen the mind. Worthy Stunnah is the danger if the pace gets messy, Foxy Artist can lift if she gets clear in time, and Old Wermatong is your "if it goes soft and deep" wildcard.

Top 3 + Roughie ($10.50 pool)

★ PUNTY'S PICK 1. Testy Nic (No.5) — $2.00 🏆 4TH
Bet $10.50 Win — ✗ Lost, net -$10.50
Prob 48.6% | Place: 70.0% | Value: 0.97x
Why In a slow maiden, you want the horse that can still hit top gear without needing the track to save it.

2. Worthy Stunnah (No.6) — $2.48 / $1.10 🏆 2ND
Bet Tracked
Prob 25.1% | Place: 70.0% | Value: 0.94x

Punty read: Head Of The River looks set up to do the hard work early, get a break, and then keep battling when the corner pressure hits. Over The Louvre is the stalking threat, Mishani Senorita is the danger if she finds a soft lane, and Cause She's Mine is the roughie if the race turns into a chaos scramble.

Race type: Benchmark 62, 1500m
Map & tempo: Genuine Pace, advantage for runners that can sit and keep going
Punty read: This is a race where Kingsland gets a lovely chance to use her class. Heavenly Love and Standlee are the ones who can keep pressure on, Hang Out is the "if pace holds, she's there" type, and Express Star is the roughie for value late if the race doesn't fall apart.

1. Kingsland (No.3) — $3.00 🏆 3RD
Bet $10.50 Win — ✗ Lost, net -$10.50

✗ MISS -$15 Final

Race type: Benchmark 68, 1200m
Map & tempo: Genuine Pace, but Soft 5 makes it a "hold position, don't get flustered" sprint
Punty read: Rothgo and Wolfgang are the two names I want around the money, and this is exactly where Each Way and Place leverage can save your bacon. North Court is next best for value if the right runner drops out of the race, Miss De Medici looks like a genuine show contender too.

Top 3 + Roughie ($15.00 pool)

1. Rothgo (No.3) — $5.52 🏆 UNPLACED

Race type: Restricted 58 Handicap, 1200m

Punty read: This is a race where the tote can do silly stuff. Odin's Mount and Thunderous are the live tempo supporters, while I'm Lucky Two is the one I want because he's got both the finishing ability and the map to get into it. Copper Star can be a sneaky place, Little Vain is another chance if the race opens up, and Territory Ash is your "if it falls apart" roughie.

Punty's Early Mail

Rightio Loose Units, Warwick on a Soft 5 with the rail pinned true, that sort of day where the race looks simple from the grandstand, then everyone's footing starts getting personal in the last 100. Pace matters, but so does who actually wants to slug it out when the track goes full sponge and the sprint turns into a slow-motion punch-up.

I've got a pretty clear spine today, the Big 3 winners that I want all over my ticket, then we fill in with the races that can wobble. Early doors the card is dominated by a few proper speed/stick-with-it types, later on it turns into a place-war where the lanes pay for patience.

MEET SNAPSHOT

Track: Soft 5, 800-1350m card
Rail: True
Official going: Soft 5 (expected to play Tough-Tempo, hold-up risk, place value)
Weather: Mostly sunny, 21C, light wind (watch for track playing wetter underfoot than the sky suggests)
Early lane guess: True rail, inside saves ground but don't get trapped
Tempo profile: Genuine to moderate early, with a few races where leaders get a chance to set up their own downfall
Jockeys to follow:
Jason Taylor: gets them handy and is showing plenty of confidence in the maiden land.
Jade Hampson: rides like she's seen the film before, especially when the map suits.
Olivia Kendal: can land a finishing shot even when the draw or traffic gets annoying.
Stables to respect:
Donna Stanbridge (1 runners): has the kind of local know-how that makes Soft 5 not scare them.
Corey & Kylie Geran (2 runners): when they bring gear into play, they usually mean it.
Michael Nolan (1 runners): sneaks into the right race shapes and makes the most of it.

Punty's take: Warwick Soft 5 with the rail true means the inside is gold, but it also means if you're stuck behind a wall you'll pay the tax. So I'm prioritising horses that either get a clean run, or can win ugly without needing perfect galloping room.

Race 1 is the opener where I want the short king. Night Market looks like the kind that takes the first job seriously and keeps doing it late, Soft 5 suits that on-pacer style. Race 3 is the other "just get it done" job, Testy Nic is the one with the speed and the headstart feel.

Then after that, it's your classic Warwick chaos, especially Race 7. That heat handicap can throw a curveball, so I'm keeping the core selections tight, and using the roughies to catch the upside when the pace wobbles.

What it means for you: Be aggressive in the races where the map is screaming for a leader or an on-pacer who can hold position, especially Race 1 and Race 3. For the others, lean on Place and Each Way where the field size and soft ground make it harder for one horse to run away with it clean.

I'm not going full Big 6 suicidal today. I'll use sequences as lanes, the kind you take when you're feeling brave, but my day is built around the Big 3 plus the exact Top 3 and roughie calls per race.
