Punty's Early Mail
For all of Punty's tips for Warwick Farm, head to https://punty.ai/tips/warwick-farm-2026-08-19
Rightio Degenerates, Warwick Farm on a Soft 6, rails True, and the track is doing that soggy Melbourne Cup thing where everyone's a chance until you park your arse on the right horse. Let's have a crack.
MEET SNAPSHOT
Track: Metro, 1100m to 1600m card
Rail: True
Official going: Soft 6 (expected to play Speed vs Class, with doors opening late)
Weather: Partly cloudy, 12C, humid as hell, a touch of rain hanging around (watch for early skids and late running rails)
Early lane guess: Straight speed plus mid-pack stalkers, no sitting too far back
Tempo profile: Slow-ish in the faster races, hot in the 1100s. Soft footing, so whoever balances first will finish best.
Jockeys to follow:
Tommy Berry: loves a wet-track moment, if one's set for a run he'll find the gap
James McDonald: class operator, gets the right spot and makes it look easy
Nash Rawiller: sharp on these conditions, especially when the horse wants to work early
Stables to respect:
G Waterhouse & A Bott (6 runners): usually sharp first up and they don't waste rides
C J Waller (8 runners): when they have one, they've got reasons, and today looks like one of those days
Annabel & Rob Archibald (7 runners): keep an eye on their midweek magic, they can sneak a win out of a race
Punty's take:
Warwick Farm on a Soft 6 is basically a wet sponge. That means the quick ones still win, but the good quick ones are the ones who can travel through the kickback and not get mugged by momentum. Expect jockeys to start riding for traction, not fireworks. If they're floating wide early, it's often death by a thousand damp strides.
The big race-shaper today is pace. In the 1100s, if you're not on or near the speed, you're asking the others to do the hard work then hand you the off-ramp at the finish. In the middle distance stuff, it's the same story, just with more time for things to go wrong in a drama-filled Netflix episode.
My spine is pretty straightforward. Profitabelle starts it off in Race 1, Mr Miller runs the cleaner script in Race 5, and Deep Pleasure in Race 3 is your "soaked legs, strong finish" anchor. Then you add a couple of value swingers where the market is looking in the wrong direction for the finish you want.
What it means for you:
Be aggressive where the map fits. Race 1 is a Soft 6 sprint where place confidence matters, so you can press the top runners hard without needing a miracle. Race 2 and Race 3 look like they've got the shape for leaders to survive just long enough, then you take the best of the stalkers when they peel off on the turn.
Save your chaos for the right lanes. If you chase roughies at random, you'll cop losses like it's a spectator sport. But if the horse has a plausible path, like a market drifter that's sliding into your win scenario, then yeah, we're getting loose. Let's do it smart, not stupid.
PUNTY'S BIG 3 + MULTI
These are the three bets the day leans on.
1 - Profitabelle (Race 1, No.7) — $2.77
Why Maps to be right there turning for home on wet-speed form, and she's the kind that actually holds ground.
2 - Mr Miller (Race 5, No.3) — $1.79
Why Genuine pace profile, the type to keep running through the line instead of dropping a gear.
3 - Deep Pleasure (Race 3, No.4) — $3.75
Why Soft-track friendly, has the run-on style, and should be in the finish mix from the right spot.
Multi (all three to win): $10 × ~19.00 = ~$190 collect
Race 1 – Ranvet Mdn Hcp
Race type: HANDICAP, 1100m
Map & tempo: Slow pace, jammed up speed early, so positioning matters
Punty read:
This is the classic Soft 6 1100, slow early pace, then suddenly everyone wants to sprint and the track decides who gets traction. Profitabelle (No.7) is the one I want closest to the action. She's got enough page in the book to make that late dash count, especially if the inside sort gets a cleaner run.
Artemex (No.6) is the "could still run a big race but the win is fussier" type. Blessed Eagle (No.1) is a watchlist job. If she can settle and find the lane, she's there, but today feels like you want your bets on horses that get the first crack at the finish.
Top 3 + Roughie ($24.00 pool)
1. Profitabelle (No.7) — $2.77 / $1.32
Bet $20.00 Win, return $55.40
Prob 39.7% | Place: 60.2% | Value: 1.37x
Why She's the one with the best run-on profile for a Soft 6 sprint, and she should get the right trip without being stranded.
2. Artemex (No.6) — $4.90 / $1.75
Bet $4.00 Place, return $7.00
Prob 14.7% | Place: 40.3% | Value: 0.90x
Why Not the main winner, but she's got enough class to pick up pieces in the last 100m and hang around for place.
3. Blessed Eagle (No.1) — $4.70 / $1.70
Bet Tracked
Prob 10.2% | Place: 29.0% | Value: 0.60x
Why If she can slot in and build a run, she can threaten for a slice, but she's not the value play here.
Roughie: Darn You (No.9) — $12.00 / $3.20
Bet Tracked
Prob 7.6% | Place: 20.3% | Value: 1.13x
Why If the speed collapses he can swoop late, but I'm not paying for that scenario with the whole pool.
Race 2 – Inglis Xtra Bonus Mdn Hcp
Race type: HANDICAP, 1300m
Map & tempo: Slow pace, so whoever positions early enough gets a run at the line
Punty read:
Race 2 is a bit of a chaos handicap trap. When the tempo is slow, you can get stuck behind the scenery, then suddenly the best horse gets clear and the rest are just chasing their own tails. Satin Serenade (No.14) is the fave and she'll get plenty of attention, but her price says the market wants her to be brave, not dominant.
Queen's Gamble (No.13) is where I want to land for value on place. Defensemen (No.1) is interesting for underneath, but in a slow 1300 you want the right turn of foot more than a hopeful grind.
Top 3 + Roughie ($10.50 pool)
1. Satin Serenade (No.14) — $1.77 / $1.17
Bet $10.50 Win, return $18.59
Prob 23.2% | Place: 68.8% | Value: 0.56x
Why She's a top-tier place type and still capable of stealing it in a slow tempo, where tactical positioning turns into race-ending luck.
2. Queen's Gamble (No.13) — $7.20 / $2.50
Bet Tracked
Prob 16.7% | Place: 56.2% | Value: 1.63x
Why A real chance — but at $2.50 the place he's not a saver, he's a punt, and that's not a price I insure at. Watching, not betting.
3. Defensemen (No.1) — $9.40 / $3.10
Bet Tracked
Prob 7.7% | Place: 35.8% | Value: 0.99x
Why She can hold a spot and grab third, but this feels like a two-horse decision in the finish mix.
Roughie: Whitehall (No.19) — $14.00 / $4.20
Bet Tracked
Prob 5.6% | Place: 21.1% | Value: 1.07x
Why If the field starts chopping up late, she can slip into the minors, but not enough to justify extra stake.
Race 3 – Asahi Super Dry (Bm72)
Race type: HANDICAP, 1600m
Map & tempo: Slow pace, so it's about who can build and then sprint off a stable position
Punty read:
1600 on Soft 6 with a slow tempo is basically a chess game, then everyone forgets the rules in the last 300m. Deep Pleasure (No.4) is built for this. Blinkers on first time can help her lock in and hit the straight with intent.
Columbus (No.1) is the danger because she's close enough to the action to take advantage if the leaders start wobbling. Namaste (No.6) looks like the kind that benefits from a slow run and a final sprint, especially if she's not stuck too far back.
Top 3 + Roughie ($10.50 pool)
1. Deep Pleasure (No.4) — $3.75 / $1.50
Bet $10.50 Win, return $39.38
Prob 29.1% | Place: 69.0% | Value: 1.35x
Why Soft-track profile and blinkers push her to run straighter and finish with authority.
2. Columbus (No.1) — $2.47 / $1.17
Bet Tracked
Prob 23.8% | Place: 69.0% | Value: 0.73x
Why A real chance — but at $1.17 the place he's not a saver, he's a punt, and that's not a price I insure at. Watching, not betting.
3. Namaste (No.6) — $6.20 / $1.90
Bet Tracked
Prob 17.4% | Place: 57.1% | Value: 1.34x
Why She's the right kind of runner for a soft 1600, but the spot for profit isn't there on our thresholds.
Roughie: Belle Detelle (No.3) — $13.75 / $3.50
Bet Tracked
Prob 5.9% | Place: 21.7% | Value: 1.01x
Why If she's got a soft-luck run and finds room, she can surprise, but it's a longer bow.
Race 4 – Toyota Forklifts (Bm72)
Race type: HANDICAP, 1100m
Map & tempo: Hot pace, leaders go early and the rest have to respond fast
Punty read:
1100m on a hot tempo is sprint physics. Uncertain Glory (No.13) looks like the one that can sit near enough and then reel them in when the field starts to splinter on Soft 6.
Scenic Point (No.4) is a proper threat because she has the speed to hold a spot, and if the race opens up even slightly she's got that turn-of-foot that makes them look slow. Striking Alibi (No.12) is too short to back today, even if she can run her race. Lull (No.3) is the value kicker if the leaders set it up for closers.
Top 3 + Roughie ($24.00 pool)
1. Uncertain Glory (No.13) — $5.15 / $1.95
Bet $20.00 Win, return $103.00
Prob 24.2% | Place: 66.7% | Value: 1.55x
Why She's the best blend of positioning and late punch, and Soft 6 at 1100 rewards a clean trip.
2. Scenic Point (No.4) — $5.10 / $1.90
Bet $4.00 Place, return $7.60
Prob 17.6% | Place: 55.3% | Value: 1.11x
Why Firming in the market tells me they're expecting a big run, and she has the speed to be dangerous late.
3. Striking Alibi (No.12) — $2.70 / $1.40
Bet Tracked
Prob 16.3% | Place: 53.8% | Value: 0.55x
Why She's probably good enough, but the value isn't there at the price and rank.
Roughie: Lull (No.3) — $9.75 / $2.80
Bet Tracked
Prob 8.5% | Place: 29.0% | Value: 1.03x
Why If the leaders come back to earth, she can hit the front end of the straight and steal a big chunk.
Race 5 – Catanach's Jewellers (Bm72)
Race type: HANDICAP, 1400m
Map & tempo: Genuine pace, so the race is decided by who keeps momentum and doesn't fade
Punty read:
This is built for Mr Miller (No.3). When there's genuine pace, the winner is usually the one who can sustain the effort without the Soft 6 taking them off the bridle. Phantom Major (No.6) is the backbone exacta chance, especially if she finds the right spot and then gets clear late.
Sociable (No.7) can run on, but the main risk is she's more of a supporter than a closer who gets the final say at the line. Island Dream (No.2) is a classic value rougher type, especially with a big track play, but today the map points to Mr Miller first.
Top 3 + Roughie ($16.00 pool)
1. Mr Miller (No.3) — $1.79 / $1.14
Bet $10.00 Win, return $17.90
Prob 30.8% | Place: 69.0% | Value: 0.72x
Why If the tempo is real, he's the one that keeps running, no dramatics needed.
2. Phantom Major (No.6) — $5.35 / $1.85
Bet $6.00 Place, return $11.10
Prob 21.7% | Place: 68.4% | Value: 1.52x
Why Value on place looks right, she's got the class to be part of the finish and not just a support act.
3. Sociable (No.7) — $9.40 / $2.85
Bet Tracked
Prob 8.2% | Place: 34.1% | Value: 1.01x
Why She can slot in, but we want the price to cooperate, and it isn't.
Roughie: Island Dream (No.2) — $12.00 / $3.40
Bet Tracked
Prob 7.4% | Place: 27.9% | Value: 1.16x
Why If she gets a clean route and the race opens up late, she's a place-chaser with an outside salute.
Race 6 – Ole Kirk @ Vinery Stud (Bm72)
Race type: HANDICAP, 1000m
Map & tempo: Hot pace, speed holds up, and the Soft 6 turns it into a sprint battle
Punty read:
1000m on Soft 6, it's all about who finds the front rhythm and who stays balanced. Manukau (No.8) is the value play in the place lane, because she's got a better "run and grind" profile than most in this group.
Fierce (No.9) is brave, but Valilee (No.4) is the one the market will love and punters will worship. For me, the value is Manukau for place, and I'm happy to take Fierce as the each-way anchor only because the price and positioning can make it pay.
Top 3 + Roughie ($15.00 pool)
1. Fierce (No.9) — $4.70 / $2.00
Bet $15.00 Each Way ($7.50W + $7.50P), return $35.25 (wins) / $15.00 (places)
Prob 18.5% | Place: 53.8% | Value: 1.12x
Why Cross-over run style fits Soft 6, and if she hits the front, she should keep her feet.
2. Valilee (No.4) — $3.25 / $1.55
Bet Tracked
Prob 17.1% | Place: 49.3% | Value: 0.72x
Why The top pick's each-way already covers the place angle here — doubling up is paying twice for the same insurance. Tracked instead.
3. Manukau (No.8) — $6.75 / $2.40
Bet Tracked
Prob 16.7% | Place: 44.4% | Value: 1.46x
Why She's the value place angle, but the bet sizing rules say we focus elsewhere.
Roughie: Rantan (No.5) — $9.75 / $3.10
Bet Tracked
Prob 11.0% | Place: 34.1% | Value: 1.39x
Why He can run into a slice if the speed goes messy, but I'm not burning units on a small slice.
Race 7 – TAB (Bm72)
Race type: HANDICAP, 1200m
Map & tempo: Genuine pace, so the ones who hold their position get rewarded
Punty read:
This is one of those open 1200s where the leaders and the mid-pack stalkers both get chances. Heroic Deed (No.12) is the market comfort pick, and if she jumps well she can be right in it a long way.
The Little General (No.7) is the value place and can turn the screw if the pace keeps flowing. Kwirky Smile (No.15) is another that looks like she can keep coming late, and Infusion (No.14) is the rougher value route if the track gives her a lane.
Top 3 + Roughie ($15.00 pool)
1. Heroic Deed (No.12) — $3.55 / $1.62
Bet $15.00 Each Way ($7.50W + $7.50P), return $26.62 (wins) / $12.15 (places)
Prob 17.0% | Place: 58.7% | Value: 0.80x
Why She's got the credentials to sit in the right spot and keep fighting, Soft 6 at 1200 suits this style.
2. The Little General (No.7) — $7.20 / $2.50
Bet Tracked
Prob 13.6% | Place: 47.0% | Value: 1.29x
Why The top pick's each-way already covers the place angle here — doubling up is paying twice for the same insurance. Tracked instead.
3. Kwirky Smile (No.15) — $8.95 / $3.10
Bet Tracked
Prob 11.4% | Place: 28.5% | Value: 1.35x
Why She can hit the frame, but the bet thresholds say it's not our sweet spot today.
Roughie: Infusion (No.14) — $11.50 / $4.00
Bet Tracked
Prob 5.9% | Place: 21.4% | Value: 0.89x
Why If the race splits and she gets room late, she can pop into the quinella lane, but we keep it focused.
NUGGETS FROM THE TRACK
1 - The Soft 6 at Warwick Farm loves a "balanced early" rider
If a jockey spends the first half of the race chasing traction instead of positions, they usually find themselves windmilling home.
2 - Market drifters can be the actual saviours, but only when the map still stacks up
Race 1's big drift types are loud for a reason, but your money should still go to the horses that can actually hold a line through a Soft 6 sprint.
3 - In these 1100m Bm72 races, the winner often gets to make one decision early
Uncertain Glory in Race 4 looks like she'll get that decision, Scenic Point can force another, and that's why the finishing order gets messy.
SEQUENCE LANES
QUADDIE (R4–R7)
Smart: 13,4,12,3 / 3,6,7,2 / 9,4,8,5 / 12,7,15,14 (256 combos x $0.20 = $50.00) -- 20% flexi
Punty's take: R4 is a tight trio, R6 is wide-open, and R5 plus R7 are where the chaos hides. It's for entertainment with teeth, not a bank account rescue mission.
FINAL WORD FROM THE SICKO SANCTUARY
Get on the lanes that match the track, not the ones that match your mates' group chat. If Warwick Farm hands you a Soft 6 gift, grab it, and if it doesn't, blame the rain sponge and move on like a pro. Gamble Responsibly.
