MBA Wealth Solutions Gold Circle Country Boosted Showcase Hcp (C1)
1100m · Class 1; · 13:10
✗ MISS -$15 Final

Race type: C1, 1100m
Map & tempo: Genuine pace, Kojak wants to go hard early, and the whole field has to deal with it.
Punty read: Spectacular Star looks like the type that can do the job without needing the perfect trip. She's on the pace and that Nasal strip addition screams intent, especially when the track is Soft 5 and you want to keep momentum. Kojak is the obvious danger in the pocket, but today the race shape matters, and I reckon the leaders get a crack early. Cobocco is the little menace with winkers, if he finds clear galloping room, he's right in the finish.

Top 3 + Roughie ($15.00 pool)

1. Chamber Of Secrets (No.5) — $9.90 🏆 2ND
Bet $15.00 Win — ✗ Lost, net -$15.00
Prob 29.3% | Place: 69.0% | Value: 0.56x
Why She's made for the tempo, and the gear change says they're not messing around.

2. Fearn Trick (No.2) — $4.60 / $1.45 🏆 WINNER
Bet Tracked
Prob 29.1% | Place: 69.0% | Value: 1.34x
Why A real chance — but at $1.45 the place the numbers don't give me enough edge to insure with. Watching, not betting.

3. Bushwalker (No.7) — $8.00 / $1.90 🏆 4TH
Bet Tracked
Prob 12.3% | Place: 47.9% | Value: 1.26x
Why If the front group toils in Soft 5, this is the one swooping late.

Roughie: Argyle Laird (No.8) — $19.00 / $3.10 🏆 UNPLACED
Bet Tracked
Prob 3.8% | Place: 19.1% | Value: 0.93x
Why Wide draw, long odds, but Soft tracks often reward late movers when the leaders can't sprint clear.

1600m · Maiden; · 13:45
✓ WON +$5 Final

Race type: Maiden, 1600m
Map & tempo: Moderate pace, with Rockin' Red, Aerialize and a few others trying to sit in.
Punty read: Mighty Dancer is the pick because it's a simple race story: he's on the pace and the gear is being fiddled with to sharpen him up. This is maiden football, so you want a horse that can control position early, then keep grinding when they mix it up. Pinata and Simply Sonnet are the obvious market faces, but I'm leaning into the one with the clearer path to running right around the leaders.

Top 3 + Roughie ($13.00 pool)

1. Kojak (No.2) — $4.50 🏆 2ND
Bet $13.00 Each Way ($6.50W + $6.50P) — ✓ Won, net +$4.55
Prob 16.1% | Place: 47.0% | Value: 0.72x
Why Pace position is everything at 1600m, and the gear changes scream "go run".

2. Cosmic Jinks (No.16) — $5.41 SCR
Bet Tracked
Prob 12.6% | Place: 48.8% | Value: 0.80x
Why The top pick's each-way already covers the place angle here — doubling up is paying twice for the same insurance. Tracked instead.

3. I'm Flexible (No.15) — $5.68 SCR
Bet Tracked
Prob 12.5% | Place: 47.9% | Value: 0.83x
Why He's got the early zip, but I want the main pick to get first dibs.

Roughie: Nodefence (No.14) — $12.20 SCR
Bet Tracked
Prob 5.2% | Place: 21.7% | Value: 0.74x
Why If the pace falls apart, he might sneak into the top few, otherwise it's just place value.

Wellington Soldiers Memorial Club Mdn Hcp
900m · Maiden; · 14:25
✓ WON +$33 Final

Race type: Maiden, 900m
Map & tempo: Moderate pace with Devil's Reach pressing early, short sharp sprint.
Punty read: Devil's Reach is the leader you can trust, and this trip at 900m is where the front doesn't get forgiven. Polens is the big threat on the pace, and Bossy Sheila is the wildcard that can run into the money if she handles the first-run nerves. I also like that this race is built for quick acceleration, so any horse with early positioning and a clean run has a massive shot to hit the line strong.

Top 3 + Roughie ($15.00 pool)

1. Blind Squirrel (No.1) — $3.20 / $1.55 🏆 WINNER
Bet $15.00 Win — ✓ Won, net +$33.00
Prob 20.7% | Place: 66.3% | Value: 1.36x
Why He's built to lead at 900m, and the soft conditions suit speed that doesn't get stuck.

2. Angelina Run (No.8) — $3.40 / $1.60 🏆 UNPLACED
Bet Tracked
Prob 20.1% | Place: 69.0% | Value: 0.88x
Why A real chance — but at $1.60 the place the numbers don't give me enough edge to insure with. Watching, not betting.

3. Waikiki Lad (No.5) — $10.00 / $3.00 🏆 UNPLACED
Bet Tracked
Prob 10.8% | Place: 36.6% | Value: 1.40x
Why Blinkers and tonguetie, if she jumps smart she can clobber them late.

Roughie: Mighty Dancer (No.2) — $9.00 / $2.80 🏆 UNPLACED
Bet Tracked
Prob 9.9% | Place: 36.6% | Value: 1.44x
Why If the leaders waver, this sort of runner comes flying, wide or straight.

1100m · Maiden; · 15:05
✗ MISS -$8 Final

Race type: Maiden, 1100m
Map & tempo: Genuine pace, Proper Twelve wants it forward and the race should be run properly.
Punty read: Cosmic Jinks is the classier type of story, but Dusty Vermeer is the one with the right value angle for a maiden plate where the run can open up. Tucklan is the sneaky roughie, because 1100m on Soft 5 can punish the wrong place at the wrong time, and she's built for momentum. Aoife and Flashy Icon are the other on-the-day danger runners, but I'm sticking with the ones who look like they'll be in the right patch of ground turning for home.

Top 3 + Roughie ($15.00 pool)

1. Cosmic Jinks (No.14) — $2.35 / $1.25 🏆 2ND
Bet $10.00 Win — ✗ Lost, net -$10.00
Prob 24.9% | Place: 69.0% | Value: 0.58x
Why She can hit the line and this pace profile suits a quick trip.

2. Bossy Sheila (No.5) — $4.80 🏆 3RD
Bet $5.00 Place — ✓ Won, net +$2.50
Prob 21.1% | Place: 63.6% | Value: 1.01x
Why Big place chance, and the soft-track fit is real.

3. Tampa Bay (No.11) — $6.25 / $2.25 🏆 WINNER
Bet Tracked
Prob 11.5% | Place: 40.3% | Value: 0.79x
Why Can run into it, but I'm not backing a middling price in a tight sprint.

Roughie: Tucklan (No.13) — $9.60 / $3.00 🏆 UNPLACED
Bet Tracked
Prob 10.6% | Place: 40.3% | Value: 1.31x
Why If the race gets messy late, she's exactly the sort to pick up fourth to second and steal the trifecta dream.

J.R Richards & Sons (Bm58)
1600m · Benchmark 58; · 15:40
✓ WON +$3 Final

Race type: Bm58, 1600m
Map & tempo: Genuine pace, Race To Arms and Angie's Sister pressure early.
Punty read: Race To Arms is the clear pace driver, and at 1600m, the horse that keeps taking them along is the one that gets the breaks. Angie's Sister is the big early stalker, and Bobby's Secret is the type that can keep grinding for a place and steal a finish if the pace collapses. I'm treating this like a "pace is the currency" race, and I want horses that are either on it, or immediately beside it.

Top 3 + Roughie ($15.50 pool)

1. Proper Twelve (No.2) — $2.15 / $1.22 SCR
Bet $10.50 Win — ✗ Lost, net +$0.00
Prob 21.2% | Place: 69.0% | Value: 0.71x
Why Pace map is doing the heavy lifting, and she's the kind to keep finding more.

2. Snow Dog (No.4) — $4.00 / $1.65 🏆 3RD
Bet $5.00 Place — ✓ Won, net +$3.25
Prob 19.7% | Place: 69.0% | Value: 0.79x
Why Great place profile, but I want the win money on the leader.

3. Bobby's Secret (No.13) — $3.80 SCR
Bet Tracked
Prob 17.1% | Place: 56.0% | Value: 1.01x
Why Can run close enough for money, but he's the supporting actor today.

Roughie: Way To Divine (No.6) — $4.24 🏆 2ND
Bet Tracked
Prob 7.5% | Place: 34.1% | Value: 1.15x
Why If the pace gets too hot and they fold, she can sneak into the finish.

R6
Allendale Merino Stud (Bm58)
900m · Benchmark 58; · 16:15
✗ MISS -$18 Final

Race type: Bm58, 900m
Map & tempo: Hot pace, Notleanormean and Broadcast Boogie setting it up, blink and you'll miss it.
Punty read: This is the race where the favourite is the right favourite. Notleanormean has the pace profile to go right to the end, and Soft 5 tends to reward leaders that can keep their rhythm. Maximum Ride is the value long-shot place play if they get greedy, and Puissance Power is the grinder that can fill holes. Broadcast Boogie is the other one that can put the others under pressure, but if Notleanormean finds clear air early, she's hard to stop.

Top 3 + Roughie ($25.00 pool)

★ PUNTY'S PICK 1. Pattera (No.6) — $3.80 🏆 4TH
Bet $14.00 Win — ✗ Lost, net -$14.00
Prob 44.6% | Place: 69.0% | Value: 1.16x
Why The pace advantage is real, and the race shape is built for her.

2. Emphatic Bel (No.11) — $5.29 🏆 UNPLACED
Bet $5.00 Place — ✗ Lost, net -$5.00
Prob 10.9% | Place: 59.8% | Value: 0.39x
Why She can feature, but the odds aren't paying for win.

3. Angie's Sister (No.4) — $50.00 🏆 WINNER
Bet $6.00 Place — ✓ Won, net +$0.60
Prob 9.2% | Place: 47.0% | Value: 3.13x
Why If she finds a rail pocket and the leaders tire, she's the chaos bolt for the placings.

Roughie: Allusive Intent (No.3) — $14.93 🏆 UNPLACED
Bet Tracked
Prob 10.2% | Place: 47.0% | Value: 1.04x
Why Needs a little luck, but in a short sprint, one stumble can open a lane.

R7
LSS Locksmith And Security Hcp (C1)
1400m · Class 1; · 16:55
✗ MISS -$10 Final

Race type: C1, 1400m
Map & tempo: Moderate pace, with Capital Mac and the Shipshape types nudging forward.
Punty read: Capital Mac is the one I want on a wet-ish 1400m when you need a horse that can keep rolling through the middle. Beauty Edge is the obvious second danger with a clean on-pacer angle, and Light Infantry is the other that can sit close and pounce if the inside saves ground. Naval Officer is a sneaky one for place if the run develops like everyone thinks it will, then does a bit of a twist.

Top 3 + Roughie ($10.50 pool)

1. Panelli (No.2) — $2.20 / $1.25 🏆 2ND
Bet $10.50 Win — ✗ Lost, net -$10.50
Prob 26.2% | Place: 69.0% | Value: 0.58x
Why He's got the right tempo profile for 1400m, and he's built to keep going when others cruise.

2. Vendor (No.5) — $9.50 / $2.85 🏆 UNPLACED
Bet Tracked
Prob 11.5% | Place: 36.6% | Value: 1.43x
Why A real chance — but at $2.85 the place the numbers don't give me enough edge to insure with. Watching, not betting.

3. Maximum Ride (No.4) — $7.00 / $2.50 🏆 WINNER
Bet Tracked
Prob 10.2% | Place: 53.8% | Value: 0.93x
Why If the pace holds, he's there, but he's not the value winner in my eyes.

Roughie: Broadcast Boogie (No.11) — $10.75 🏆 UNPLACED
Bet Tracked
Prob 11.7% | Place: 47.9% | Value: 1.37x
Why If it bunches late, he's the sort that can pick up and grab a cheque.

KFC Wellington Country Boosted (Bm66)

✗ MISS -$1 Final

Race type: Bm66, 1100m
Map & tempo: Moderate pace, with Light Infantry and Hanuman driving while the backmarkers hope for space.
Punty read: This is a race where you can't ignore positioning. Light Infantry looks like the kind that can hold a nice spot and still hit the finish, and Hanuman is the speed threat that can make others pay for sitting too close or too far. Capital Mac is the steadier type who can pop up at the right time, and Fetes Des Meres is the roughie that can take advantage if the field gets ragged.

Top 3 + Roughie ($15.00 pool)

1. Light Infantry (No.4) — $4.10 / $1.85 🏆 2ND
Bet $15.00 Each Way ($7.50W + $7.50P) — Cashed, net -$1.12
Prob 17.1% | Place: 57.6% | Value: 0.97x
Why He maps well and can keep his job done in Soft 5, 1100m suits that style.

2. Hanuman (No.10) — $3.67 / $1.75 🏆 WINNER
Bet Tracked
Prob 14.8% | Place: 54.6% | Value: 0.75x
Why The top pick's each-way already covers the place angle here — doubling up is paying twice for the same insurance. Tracked instead.

Prob 12.7% | Place: 36.6% | Value: 0.89x

Bet Tracked
Prob 6.3% | Place: 21.7% | Value: 0.98x

Punty's Early Mail

Rightio Loose Units, Wellington on a Soft 5 with the rail true, and the track's got that sticky "anything can happen" vibe. Eight races, a heap of scratchings, and a card that smells like leaders win early, then the backmarkers cash late once everyone panics. I'm here for it, I'm always here for it, even when I'm stubbornly wrong.

MEET SNAPSHOT

Track: Wellington, 900m-1600m card
Rail: True
Official going: Soft 5 (expected to play Fairly Speedy early, then it gets slushy for out-of-position runners)
Weather: Sunny, 19°C with a bit of swing in it, watch for the gusts whipping the field round (race shape can change quickly on Soft 5)
Early lane guess: Quaddie is where the spreads start, but Early Quaddie looks like it wants leaders involved.
Jockeys to follow:
Izzy Neale: gets a few key rides across the card, and her mounts tend to be there at the business end.
Mathew Cahill: steady hand, likes to place his horses where they can actually work.
Jordan Quince: snappy gate work, best when the pace is real and the job is clear.
Stables to respect:
Brett Robb (0 runners): aggressive maps, if they're confident the horse is doing a job early.
Brett Thompson (0 runners): keeps rolling runners through, especially in class setups where fitness matters.
Connie Greig (0 runners): often has them finishing off when the run falls apart.

Punty's take:

This Soft 5 at Wellington is the kind where the speed is a weapon, but it's also a trap. If you're too far off the right sectionals, the last 200m can turn into a wet mattress, and suddenly everyone's just trying to survive. So yeah, I like pace, but I also like horses that can stalk without burning, because the finish will be sticky.

The other theme today is "market doesn't lie, but it also lies by omission". When a horse firms hard and the map is cooperative, I'm keen. When something drifts like it's lost in the supermarket aisle, I treat it like a horse with a bad story. Keep an eye on the early class leaders in the sprints, then let the mid-card hands do the damage in the bigger races.

What it means for you:

Aggressive early with your place money, especially in the shorter races where the leaders set it up and the field staggers. I'm not trying to be clever in Race 1, I'm backing the horse that's built for the right run. In the chaos spots, I'm using the roughie as the "if the speed collapses" button, not as a lottery ticket.

Your best game plan is simple: lock the Big 3 spine for the day, then treat each race like a mini story. If it looks like they'll get held up, go place. If it looks like they'll get clear late, back win with confidence. No hero worship, just race reading.
