TCL Earthworks Mdn
1550m · Maiden; · 10:53
✓ WON +$25 Final

Race type: Maiden, 1550m
Map & tempo: Slow Pace
Punty read: Slow pace on synthetic is a gift for on-pace runners that can hold their position without getting trapped. No.5 Alezando is the right kind of forward mover. No.1 Compulsion and No.3 El Vallo are the danger types because they can land handy enough to run through the finish, while the market is throwing a bit of heat at the value roughie No.7 French Fox.

Top 3 + Roughie ($21.00 pool)

1. Alezando (No.5) — $2.68 / $1.22 🏆 WINNER
Bet $17.00 Win — ✓ Won, net +$28.56

✗ MISS -$13 Final

Race type: Benchmark 69, 1550m
Map & tempo: Moderate Pace
Punty read: This isn't a race for going off like a firework, it's a race for being in the right pocket when the tempo steadies. No.1 Kasukedo looks like he can sit midfield and still be part of the argument in the run home. No.4 Subiaco brings the class edge in the right way, while No.7 Niagara Sky needs a clean tactical trip to get involved.

Top 3 + Roughie ($22.00 pool)

1. Kasukedo (No.1) — $3.95 / $1.62 🏆 2ND
Bet $17.00 Win — ✗ Lost, net -$17.00

Bet Tracked
Prob 15.0% | Place: 47.0% | Value: 0.94x

Bet Tracked
Prob 4.8% | Place: 17.3% | Value: 0.82x

✗ MISS -$7 Final

Race type: Maiden, 1300m
Map & tempo: Slow Pace
Punty read: 1300m maidens on synthetic are all about the first real kick. If you're planted in the right lane early, you can keep bullying the line. In The Vineyard (No.9) is the class angle and the market is already leaning into it. Barnum (No.6) is the place insurance type, and Hebridean Way (No.4) has the right look as a value runner when the race gets tidy.

Top 3 + Roughie ($10.00 pool)

1. In The Vineyard (No.9) — $2.04 / $1.09 🏆 UNPLACED
Bet $8.00 Win — ✗ Lost, net -$8.00
Prob 37.3% | Place: 54.4% | Value: 1.34x
Why Firming support and a sprint trip where class can just keep showing, he should be involved at the business end.

Bet $2.00 Place — ✓ Won, net +$1.24
Prob 14.7% | Place: 34.9% | Value: 1.02x

Prob 19.1% | Place: 41.0% | Value: 1.61x

Bet Tracked
Prob 5.8% | Place: 17.3% | Value: 1.15x

✗ MISS -$12 Final

Race type: Benchmark 74, 970m
Map & tempo: Genuine Pace (Leaders: Vittorio Veneto)
Punty read: 970m is a knife fight. When there's genuine pace, the on-pacers get first dibs and the horses that need too many lengths in the straight get punished. Perfect Dividends (No.2) is the one with the tempo advantage and the market's got a clear opinion. Pink Gin (No.4) is the classic "right there when it matters" contender, while Fat Albert (No.5) is a handy supporting threat. Shavasana is the roughie when the tempo gets stretched.

Top 3 + Roughie ($12.00 pool)

1. Perfect Dividends (No.2) — $2.55 / $1.52 🏆 4TH
Bet $12.00 Win — ✗ Lost, net -$12.00

Bet Tracked
Prob 24.2% | Place: 38.5% | Value: 0.95x
Why Only two places paid in a field this size, and skinny place divvies make savers a mug's game — this is a win-only race. Tracked, not staked.

3. Fat Albert (No.5) — $6.35 / $2.75 🏆 2ND
Bet Tracked
Prob 14.2% | Place: 23.4% | Value: 1.25x

Bet Tracked
Prob 6.2% | Place: 12.2% | Value: 0.81x

✗ MISS -$15 Final

Race type: Restricted 60, 2000m
Map & tempo: Moderate Pace
Punty read: Two grand on synthetic is where the race becomes about rhythm. Rosina (No.4) has the best combination of class and map to keep grinding. Melkor (No.2) looks like a live place chance and a danger if the pace is steady. Wry Smile (No.5) is the sort to be there when the race splits slightly. Arkadus (No.7) is the roughie, but he needs the right running through to be included.

Top 3 + Roughie ($15.00 pool)

1. Rosina (No.4) — $3.15 / $1.72 🏆 2ND
Bet $15.00 Win — ✗ Lost, net -$15.00
Prob 21.1% | Place: 47.1% | Value: 0.97x

Roughie: Arkadus (No.7) — $11.50 / $4.00 🏆 4TH
Bet Tracked
Prob 5.9% | Place: 17.3% | Value: 0.99x

✗ MISS -$15 Final

Race type: Benchmark 70, 2000m
Map & tempo: Slow Pace
Punty read: Slow 2000m means you can't just hope. You need a horse that's comfortable being within range without doing too much early. Dancin In The Dark (No.1) and Allthekingshorses (No.6) look like the two that can both be in the right spots and not lose too much ground. Pine Leaf (No.7) is the wild card for a value place or a surprise finish if things turn into a sprint from midfield.

Top 3 + Roughie ($15.00 pool)

1. Dancin In The Dark (No.1) — $4.25 / $2.10 🏆 4TH
Bet $15.00 Win — ✗ Lost, net -$15.00

Bet Tracked
Prob 24.7% | Place: 56.2% | Value: 0.91x
Why This is a place chance type profile, but win value is capped at this price.

Roughie: Jack In The Box (No.2) — $9.90 / $3.50 🏆 UNPLACED
Bet Tracked
Prob 7.1% | Place: 17.8% | Value: 0.93x

✗ MISS -$10 Final

Race type: Special Condition, 2000m
Map & tempo: Moderate Pace
Punty read: This is wide-open. 2000m with special condition types means you can't lock in like it's a group race. Prisca (No.8) is the main puncher by profile and price shape, Skymax (No.4) is the one you want if it turns into a contest, and Pegasus (No.3) is the value sprinter type that can overachieve if the race compresses late. Love Janie (No.2) is your roughie for when the run develops differently and she gets the right tailwind.

Top 3 + Roughie ($10.50 pool)

1. Prisca (No.8) — $3.90 / $1.75 🏆 UNPLACED
Bet $10.50 Each Way ($5.25W + $5.25P) — ✗ Lost, net -$10.50
Prob 16.9% | Place: 56.0% | Value: 0.72x
Why She's priced like she's got to be perfect, but her profile says she can hit the frame even if she doesn't win.

2. Skymax (No.4) — $6.90 / $2.50 🏆 2ND
Bet Tracked
Prob 13.0% | Place: 45.7% | Value: 1.31x
Why The top pick's each-way already covers the place angle here — doubling up is paying twice for the same insurance. Tracked instead.

3. Pegasus (No.3) — $5.75 / $2.50 🏆 3RD
Bet Tracked
Prob 9.3% | Place: 33.3% | Value: 0.94x
Why He's a genuine threat for a run, but the place pricing isn't worth chasing here.

Roughie: Love Janie (No.2) — $9.90 / $3.10 🏆 UNPLACED
Bet Tracked
Prob 9.3% | Place: 33.8% | Value: 1.25x

Punty's Early Mail

Rightio Loose Units, Cambridge Synthetic is firing up like a Friday night comedy gig, where everyone swears they know the punchline and then the roughie steals the show. Rail true, weather fine, synthetic track ready to do that thing where the "obvious" runners get first crack, and the ones with the right run through the race pick up the pieces.

I've got a spine for the day too, and it's built on three horses that look like they've got the right job to do, then I'm layering the multi like a lasagne, because why eat lightly when you can get messy?

Big picture, the tempo profiles across the meeting are leaning either slow or moderate, so the race is more about who's in the right spot early, not who can fly late in a fantasy world. Expect a heap of "running on" finishes, especially around the middle distances, and if you back a horse that has to come from the very back without cover, you're basically donating to the turnover gods. Fun, but costly.

MEET SNAPSHOT

Track: Synthetic, middle distance range 1300-2000m card
Rail: True
Official going: Synthetic (expected to play even and run-on, with pace positions mattering)
Weather: Fine (watch for no moisture, so speedier types can hang around)
Early lane guess: On-pace to midfield is the sweet spot, especially in the 1300-1550m range
Tempo profile: Slow to moderate, with the leaders setting a rhythm and the stalkers picking up the slack
Jockeys to follow:
Tom Wigram: Gets first look on the smarter positioning rides, and he's good when the race shape suits.
Kyle Wilson-Taylor: Can lift a race for you when the tempo is manageable, and he usually gets them travelling.
Joe Doyle: Often holds a rhythm in the run and turns it into a proper finish down the straight.
Stables to respect:
S B Marsh (2 runners): Their horses look like they're trained for this sort of steady synthetic grind.
G A & D G Rogerson & Clint Isdale (2 runners): Shows up with multiple profiles that can get into the race without needing miracles.
S Ralph (2 runners): Regularly gets value out of their runners, especially around place chances.

Punty's take:

Race 1 (Cambridge Synthetic TCL Earthworks Mdn 1550m) is a classic "who settles and who actually finds the lane" job. The on-pace type No.5 Alezando has the right map for a maiden where the pace is slow, because slow pace means the leaders can't just cruise away and the finish gets decision-based. If you want the first leg to behave, that's the one I'd start with.

Race 2 (Bm69 1550m) is about the speed being within striking distance. No.1 Kasukedo looks like he can do the travelling part without getting bullied, and there's enough in the line-up for it to set up for a repeatable, controlled run rather than a sprint-fest. I like the idea of being on the "proper one" rather than chasing a flyer.

Then Race 3 (Phelan Racing Mdn 1300m) is where it gets tasty, because In The Vineyard is short for a reason, and it looks like the market is already telling a story with firming. This is the sort of maiden where a horse with real early class can just keep punching, and the others are stuck doing paperwork trying to get into it.

What it means for you:

My plan is simple: go aggressive early with the best-positioned, best-shaped runners in Races 1 to 3, then get smarter in the handicaps and middle-to-longer events by backing the right tactical profiles. The meeting shape screams that place looks like the safer angle, and Win only when the race map is clean.

If you're building a ticket, keep your legs tight in the earlier parts where the pace is predictable, and let the later legs breathe a bit more, because by then you're guessing about run-throughs, interference, and jockey intent. For quaddie land, you want a couple of "clean" legs and a couple of wider ones, not four lottery tickets in a row.

Gambling is gambling, but if you play the map, not the vibes, you've already done half the hard work.
