R1
Grant Bastian Super Showcase Mdn Hcp
1000m · MAIDEN · 12:35
✓ WON +$17 Final

Race type: MAIDEN HANDICAP, 1000m
Map & tempo: Moderate pace, on-pacers and stalkers have the advantage

Punty read: This one's a proper Coffs sprint scrap on Soft 7, where the inside and the on-pacers get first rights. Greyt Remlap (No.8) comes in with blinkers and that "I'm here for the last bit" setup. The map says moderate speed, so he should get every chance to sit close, and on this track, the horse that's near the action early usually gets the split second to keep finding more.

Dallas Duke (No.6) has that "pressure and hold on" vibe, and the market hasn't completely ignored him. But the biggest story is how on-pace lanes are organising themselves, and the No.8 fits that like a glove.

Top 3 + Roughie ($15.00 pool)

1. Greyt Remlap (No.8) — $2.13 / $1.12 🏆 WINNER
Bet $15.00 Win — ✓ Won, net +$16.95
Prob 37.1% | Place: 69.0% | Value: 1.11x
Why Blinkers on, Soft 7 friendly, and he maps to be in the right part of the race early.

Bet Tracked
Prob 24.7% | Place: 69.0% | Value: 0.77x

✗ MISS -$13 Final

Race type: MAIDEN PLATE, 1400m
Map & tempo: Slow pace, so you need a horse that can hit through without getting stuck

Punty read: Slow 1400 at Coffs means the race can turn into a procession until it suddenly isn't. Occupation (No.4) is the on-pace anchor, and it's the kind of profile that can hold position while others are still looking for clear galloping room. If the tempo stays slow, he's the type that can grind away in front or just behind it.

Kiwi Harmony at No.12 is your value place style, and Habib Albi at No.2 is the sort who can take advantage if the leaders feel the ground. But the big practical angle is: slow tempo on Soft 7 usually punishes wide trips unless you've got a real finish, so I'm sticking to the right-position horses.

Top 3 + Roughie ($13.00 pool)

Driscoll's Ken Howard Showcase Cup
2000m · Open; · 13:45
✓ WON +$32 Final

Race type: OPEN, 2000m
Map & tempo: Slow tempo, distance means patient positioning wins

Punty read: This is a 2000m where you want a horse that doesn't panic when the race goes quiet. Enterprise Private (No.4) is my pick because he's basically the calm operator. With the tempo slow, it's all about being able to travel through midfield and then let the engine kick when everyone's still saving for later.

Spencer-style setups matter too, Spenzalot (No.7) is looming as a genuine threat, but Enterprise Private gives me the cleaner story. Dollars at No.6 has his chance too, yet he feels like the kind of runner who benefits most when the race sets up for him, and today the race shape feels more tailored to the No.4.

Top 3 + Roughie ($15.00 pool)

✓ WON +$29 Final

Race type: BENCHMARK 74, 1000m
Map & tempo: Moderate pace, leaders have a crack but the right finisher can still grab it

Punty read: 1000m on Soft 7 is where the best horse doesn't always win, but the best-positioned one usually does. Beer Baron (No.11) is sitting there like a viking, mid-pack and ready to pounce if the pace doesn't get silly. With a 74 benchmark, you want something that can survive the early bump and still run through the line.

Steffi Electrica (No.13) is short and dangerous, but I'm not overpaying for her at this stage. Humphree Bear (No.12) is your value look in the middle, and she's got the right profile to take a slice of the finish if things get messy.

Top 3 + Roughie ($17.50 pool)

✗ MISS -$10 Final

Race type: OPEN, 1200m
Map & tempo: Moderate tempo, sprint lanes can open fast

Punty read: Two-horse vibes here, Lunaite (No.6) vs My Mum's Toyboy (No.1), and Soft 7 just makes that decision more about who gets the right rhythm. Lunaite maps to be in the right early space and with the market tightening around him, it tells me the stable has him ready to take control of the race. When a horse is on pace at this track and the betting supports the storyline, I'm listening.

My Mum's Toyboy can win it too, but Lunaite is the one I want first. That said, Toyboy's there for place value, and if Lunaite is brave and holds, the quinella types get cooked. In a good way.

Top 3 + Roughie ($10.50 pool)

✗ MISS -$18 Final

Race type: CLASS 3 HANDICAP, 1200m
Map & tempo: Moderate tempo, you want a horse that can box-seat or press

Punty read: This is the race I feel like the market is trying to solve for you, and I don't hate that. Certified Copy (No.2) is the one I want as my main. He's positioned to run his race without getting too far away, and on a C3 1200 at Coffs, that's often enough to be in the fight when it counts.

Too Darn Finesse (No.13) is a sneaky place play. If the race compresses, she's got a chance to slice through and hold her ground. The on-pace guys in this field can get a bit greedy, and when they do, the midpack ones can sneak into the sweet spot.

Top 3 + Roughie ($24.00 pool)

✗ MISS -$20 Final

Race type: OPEN, 1600m
Map & tempo: Moderate tempo, big field tactics across the first 800

Punty read: 1600 at Coffs on Soft 7 turns into a chess match. Perfect Justice (No.12) is your focal point, because he's got the right balance of being able to travel and still hit the finish without needing miracles. When a horse is market-supported at the front end like this, it usually means they're not asking for luck, they're asking for execution.

Hollywood Hero (No.3) is your place-pressure ride. He's not the "walk in and win" type, but in a tempo that doesn't sprint itself early, he can be there when the gaps show up. Fortune at No.4 is live, but I'm happy to let him be the risk in multi markets, not the core lane.

Race type: CLASS 2 HANDICAP, 1600m
Map & tempo: Slow-ish mile, expect a finish that gets weird late

Punty read: This is a mile where the inside and the runners that can hold a ground-saving position get paid. Vixenette (No.1) is the one I trust to keep making ground without getting bogged. At Soft 7, that matters a lot. She should get into a rhythm early, and on a true rail, you don't want to be stuck thinking about the ground instead of using it.

Satin And Cash (No.5) is your other main, especially for place. No Woman No Cry (No.6) is the value window, because if the race compresses, the horse with the right late run can suddenly pop into the perfect gap.

Punty's Early Mail

Rightio Loose Units, Coffs on a Soft 7 with the rail jammed and everyone's lungs working overtime, today's races are gonna be less "clean surgical strike" and more "who still has a leg left when it's all holding together".

Me and my mates are treating this like a speed map day, because Soft 7 at Coffs usually rewards the horses that can get into position early and then keep kicking when the ground takes the life out of the field. If you're backmarkers who need a miracle, you're basically asking Hollywood Hero to save you, and that never ends well unless you're emotionally prepared for chaos.

My big spine for the day is three winners across the card, then we sprinkle the exact roughie where the run can swing. Greyt Remlap in Race 1, Lunaite in Race 5, and Enterprise Private in Race 3. If you follow that spine, you're gambling with intent, not just vibe.

2yo gear up and coming back into play in this weather, too. Blinkers on, winkers on, nose rolls off, the whole hardware store. When you see multiple first-time or gear-first jobs, it usually means the stable has a plan for the last 200m, not just "let's see what happens".

MEET SNAPSHOT

Track: Soft 7, 1000m-1600m card
Rail: True
Official going: Soft 7 (expected to play speed-versus-resolve)
Weather: Sunny, 17°C, humidity 67%, wind 11km/h SE (watch for the track holding its condition, no rain wobbles)
Early lane guess: Leaders and on-pacers get first crack, then it's about running through late
Tempo profile: Mostly moderate to slow, so position early matters more than fantasy finishing speed
Jockeys to follow:
Bailey Wheeler: He's all over the place today in key spots, and when he's got an on-pace ride he's usually not giving it up easy.
Archie McColm: When he's on something with proper market respect, it's often ride-to-instructions, no silly stuff.
Aaron Bullock: He tends to land on the right horse for the right job, especially when the tempo suits.
Stables to respect:
K A Lees (9 runners): They're breeding confidence today with multiple chances set up for Coffs lanes and soft footing.
Aiden St Vincent (9 runners): Quietly ticking along with horses that look like they're meant to hit the line in the last stages.
Bjorn Baker (2 runners): One or two shots, but when they come out for a showcase they're usually not there to make up numbers.

Punty's take: Soft 7 plus true rail at Coffs is a recipe for "you can't just be brave, you gotta be in the right postcode early." Race 1 sets the tone, because the on-pacers and the ones that map to stalk are getting first pick of the ground. Greyt Remlap is my baseline play in that opener, and it's not because he's short, it's because he's wired to be there when it matters, blinkers on and no reason to fall out of the race early.

Then you look at Race 3, and it's that classic Cup-style patience over 2000m, where the horse that positions midfield and keeps its options wins the job. Enterprise Private is the one I want turning into the straight, because the others have either got a tougher road or they're the kind of horse that needs everything to go right.

And don't sleep on the sprinters. Race 5 is where I go for Lunaite, and Race 6 keeps the pressure on with a tight top end. Coffs sprints can turn into a scramble if the tempo isn't hot, so you want a horse that's already operating like it expects the race to come to it.

What it means for you: Here's the simple punting plan: be aggressive where the horses are set to be in the fight early, and don't get hypnotised by longshot names if they're stuck doing cardio from too far back. Soft 7 doesn't forgive late starts. It just makes the gap bigger.

So in your betting life today, I'd be putting the bulk behind the Big 3 spine, then letting the roughie do its job as the "if the speed collapses, we're alive" angle. If you're looking for value, it's in the place lanes and in races where the market support backs up the map, like you've got in Race 1 and Race 6.

Quaddies and Big 6 lanes are there for entertainment, sure, but you'll want to stay disciplined. The hard part isn't choosing runners, it's choosing the right races to go wide in. This meeting has a couple of those sneaky open bunched legs where you can accidentally donate your bankroll to the track gods.
