✗ MISS -$10 Final

Race type: Handicap, 1100m
Map & tempo: Hot pace, on-pacers dominate, and wind up the straight makes holding ground tough for late closers
Punty read:
This is a sprinty little knife fight. Gin Twist (No.3) and Jarbardar (No.11) are both the type that can dictate from the front or be there at the punch. The place where people get stitched is when they chase the "soft price" and end up stuck mid-pack with no clear sprint lane. You want the ones that are either leading, or sitting close enough that they can just keep rolling.

I'm with Tales Of Time (No.5) first up, because she's the proven type for this Caulfield sprint setup and she has the punch to hit the line. I still respect Jarbardar as the danger, gear and first-up spikes can win these, and Aemond looks like a genuine speed-driven threat at a price the market will probably keep massaging.

Top 3 + Roughie ($10.50 pool)

★ PUNTY'S PICK 1. Tales Of Time (No.5) — $2.53 / $1.32 🏆 UNPLACED
Bet $10.50 Win — ✗ Lost, net -$10.50
Prob 26.3% | Place: 59.7% | Value: 0.75x
Why On a hot 1100 pace, she's got the class to be in the right tempo pocket and the sprint finish to hit the line.

2. Jarbardar (No.11) — $4.90 / $1.85 🏆 2ND
Bet Tracked
Prob 20.5% | Place: 57.9% | Value: 1.17x
Why A real chance — but at $1.85 the place the numbers don't give me enough edge to insure with. Watching, not betting.

3. Aemond (No.9) — $7.95 / $2.55 🏆 3RD
Bet Tracked
Prob 13.8% | Place: 46.1% | Value: 1.14x
Why Maps onto the hot pace and won't need much luck if he finds a clean lane. He's the sort that can keep sticking at Caulfield.

Roughie: Barghest (No.6) — $9.50 / $2.75 🏆 UNPLACED
Bet Tracked
Prob 10.1% | Place: 34.1% | Value: 1.14x
Why If the speed is real and something in front goes wobbly, Barghest can swoop into the top three with a real finish.

✗ MISS -$13 Final

Race type: Open, 1440m
Map & tempo: Moderate pace, but wind and rhythm matter at the 1440, keep an eye on who gets positioned early
Punty read:
This race is all about who settles with confidence. Pretty Baby (No.4) is the one the market's happy to lean on, and she's drawn to be in the race early enough to capitalise if the pace stays honest. Regal Ambition (No.10) and By Choice (No.6) are the classic "good run, might win if it opens up" types, and those are the ones that can snag you if you ignore them.

I'm backing Pretty Baby as the main. She's the money for a reason, and in a Caulfield mile-type tempo, she should give you the cleanest run. By Choice is the value lean for me if you're building something bigger, but today I'm keeping it tight.

Top 3 + Roughie ($13.00 pool)

★ PUNTY'S PICK 1. Pretty Baby (No.4) — $2.16 / $1.14 🏆 2ND
Bet $13.00 Win — ✗ Lost, net -$13.00
Prob 40.7% | Place: 70.0% | Value: 1.06x
Why She's got the positioning for a 1440 where the wind steals finishing bursts, and when she's comfortable, she does the job.

2. Regal Ambition (No.10) — $5.45 / $1.72 🏆 WINNER
Bet Tracked
Prob 13.1% | Place: 46.1% | Value: 0.77x
Why A real chance — but at $1.72 the place the numbers don't give me enough edge to insure with. Watching, not betting.

3. By Choice (No.6) — $9.00 / $2.50 🏆 UNPLACED
Bet Tracked
Prob 11.5% | Place: 38.8% | Value: 1.22x
Why That price is doing a lot of work, but the run style and pace fit say she's in the mix, especially for a place.

Roughie: Rubi's Choice (No.3) — $14.00 / $2.85 🏆 4TH
Bet Tracked
Prob 8.8% | Place: 32.7% | Value: 1.04x
Why If she finds a spot closer than expected, she's got the class to run into the finish and surprise the trifecta.

✓ WON +$20 Final

Race type: Open, 2000m
Map & tempo: Moderate pace, staying power and lane clarity wins, and wind can kill late bursts
Punty read:
This is a classic "who's got the engine to go again at 2000m" race. Royal Supremacy (No.1) looks like the one to get the right run with that on-pace profile. Suntora (No.8) is the other big story because she's got that consistent build and can keep chugging when the field turns for home.

See That Storm (No.10) is the one I think has the best line into the straight, he's the sort that can keep grinding through the wind and not lose his rhythm. Roughie Detonator Jack (No.3) is for the degenerates, if the pace isn't as hot as predicted, he can sneak into the placings and make a liar out of your sigh.

Top 3 + Roughie ($6.00 pool)

1. Royal Supremacy (No.1) — $6.40 / $2.25 🏆 WINNER
Bet $6.00 Each Way ($3.00W + $3.00P) — ✓ Won, net +$19.95
Prob 17.5% | Place: 46.1% | Value: 1.07x
Why On-pace type who can stay balanced through the wind, and he looks like he's meant to be in the finish.

2. Suntora (No.8) — $5.90 / $2.00 🏆 UNPLACED
Bet Tracked
Prob 16.5% | Place: 46.1% | Value: 0.97x
Why The top pick's each-way already covers the place angle here — doubling up is paying twice for the same insurance. Tracked instead.

3. See That Storm (No.10) — $6.50 / $2.25 🏆 3RD
Bet Tracked
Prob 14.8% | Place: 41.0% | Value: 1.18x
Why He's the sort that should run on through the straight pressure, and the value creeps in if lanes open up.

Roughie: Detonator Jack (No.3) — $9.15 / $2.85 🏆 4TH
Bet Tracked
Prob 10.9% | Place: 34.9% | Value: 1.21x
Why Needs the race to suit him, but if it steadies up, he can find space and run at the right time.

✗ MISS -$15 Final

Race type: Open, 1200m
Map & tempo: Genuine pace, on-pacers with enough punch to survive the headwind up the straight
Punty read:
This is the 1200 where you want to be either on the rail of the speed, or at least close enough to not get swallowed. Over The Bridge (No.12) is short enough to be dangerous, but I like Chayan (No.2) and Scintillation (No.5) because their run styles scream "we'll be there when it counts."

Chayan's your win threat because she looks like she can hit the right part of the track when the leaders lift. Scintillation is value for the way the race is likely to be run, and Sunbliss (No.10) is the roughie if the market gets cute or if there's an unexpected lane. Torture is a whole vibe, but at that price you need a fairy tale and a stable of angels.

Top 3 + Roughie ($15.00 pool)

1. Chayan (No.2) — $4.20 / $1.75 🏆 UNPLACED
Bet $15.00 Each Way ($7.50W + $7.50P) — ✗ Lost, net -$15.00
Prob 23.8% | Place: 50.7% | Value: 1.29x
Why Fits the pace picture and should get every chance to finish over the top as the straight turns into a test.

2. Over The Bridge (No.12) — $2.62 / $1.35 🏆 WINNER
Bet Tracked
Prob 16.0% | Place: 46.7% | Value: 0.50x
Why The top pick's each-way already covers the place angle here — doubling up is paying twice for the same insurance. Tracked instead.

3. Scintillation (No.5) — $8.40 / $2.60 🏆 3RD
Bet Tracked
Prob 13.1% | Place: 38.8% | Value: 1.35x
Why Strong value type, and if the race stays genuine, she's the one that can sprint clear late.

Roughie: Sunbliss (No.10) — $11.00 / $3.40 🏆 UNPLACED
Bet Tracked
Prob 11.9% | Place: 38.9% | Value: 1.36x
Why If there's a slight stumble in the straight, she can capitalise and grab a place, maybe more if lanes open.

Ladbrokes Feehan Stakes

✓ WON +$13 Final

Race type: Open, 1600m
Map & tempo: Genuine pace, so you want a horse that can keep hitting the line without getting checked by the wind
Punty read:
Feehan time, and this looks like it can be run with purpose. Pride Of Jenni (No.5) is likely to take control, and with genuine pace on, that's exactly where she loves to be. Mr Brightside (No.1) is next best for me because he's got that on-pacer profile and the extra gear if the leaders don't sprint the race.

Treasurethe Moment (No.6) is a sneaky one for the trifecta and place game, Zambardo (No.4) is a roughie with a proper shot if the race doesn't get too stretched. But I'm not stuffing around here, Pride Of Jenni is the anchor.

Top 3 + Roughie ($12.72 pool)

★ PUNTY'S PICK 1. Pride Of Jenni (No.5) — $2.03 / $1.17 🏆 WINNER
Bet $12.72 Win — ✓ Won, net +$13.10
Prob 39.4% | Place: 59.1% | Value: 0.89x
Why Speed map fits and she's built to keep coming in the last 300 when the wind tries to steal it.

2. Mr Brightside (No.1) — $5.20 / $1.95 🏆 6TH
Bet Tracked
Prob 20.4% | Place: 38.9% | Value: 1.13x
Why Only two places paid in a field this size, and skinny place divvies make savers a mug's game — this is a win-only race. Tracked, not staked.

3. Treasurethe Moment (No.6) — $5.90 / $2.30 🏆 2ND
Bet Tracked
Prob 14.8% | Place: 38.9% | Value: 1.03x
Why Needs a clean run from the right spot, but if it happens he's got the sort of finish that makes you blink.

Roughie: Zambardo (No.4) — $6.70 / $2.40 🏆 4TH
Bet Tracked
Prob 12.6% | Place: 32.7% | Value: 1.16x

✗ MISS -$13 Final

Race type: Open, 1600m
Map & tempo: Slow pace, so you need position and then a late sprint burst, wind makes it harder for pick-up runners
Punty read:
Slow tempo means they bunch early and the race turns into "who can switch on" late. Lara Antipova (No.10) is my big lean because she looks like she can go hard at the right time, and her profile matches this kind of Caulfield holding pattern.

Diameter (No.1) is right there as the other major danger because if she gets a run, she can sprint up into the finish. Boys Bounce (No.8) is the rough value that can ping into the place spots when the pace is too slow for some and too hot for others.

Top 3 + Roughie ($13.00 pool)

★ PUNTY'S PICK 1. Lara Antipova (No.10) — $2.84 / $1.25 🏆 4TH
Bet $13.00 Win — ✗ Lost, net -$13.00
Prob 29.4% | Place: 61.5% | Value: 1.05x
Why Slow pace races often suit her kick, and she should time her acceleration perfectly into the straight pressure.

2. Diameter (No.1) — $3.12 / $1.32 🏆 WINNER
Bet Tracked
Prob 26.4% | Place: 61.5% | Value: 0.94x
Why A real chance — but at $1.32 the place the numbers don't give me enough edge to insure with. Watching, not betting.

3. Somethings Burnin' (No.5) — $7.15 / $1.95 🏆 2ND
Bet Tracked
Prob 12.8% | Place: 46.1% | Value: 1.10x
Why Can keep sticking if the tempo stays slow and she's allowed to find a path to the line.

Roughie: Boys Bounce (No.8) — $11.00 / $2.65 🏆 UNPLACED
Bet Tracked
Prob 11.2% | Place: 38.8% | Value: 1.42x

✗ MISS -$13 Final

Race type: Open, 1600m
Map & tempo: Genuine pace, so take the runners that can hold their momentum and don't get caught in traffic
Punty read:
This race is built like a pressure cooker. Sass Appeal (No.1) is the main character because she's on the pace and she's got the class to keep running through pressure. Changing Colours (No.5) is the type that can look like a winner at the 200 and then keep going, and Too Darn Discreet (No.2) is the value place lever because when she's on, she's on, she just needs the race to stay honest enough for her to hit the line.

Moonlight Circus is rough for the win, but if you get a chaos moment in the middle and she gets a slice of luck, she can run into minor money. Sea What I See (No.4) is there as the grinder but the price doesn't scream at me.

Top 3 + Roughie ($13.00 pool)

1. Sass Appeal (No.1) — $3.52 / $1.45 🏆 2ND
Bet $13.00 Win — ✗ Lost, net -$13.00
Prob 30.4% | Place: 70.0% | Value: 1.01x
Why Genuine pace helps her and she's built to stay strong through the straight when others start bouncing.

2. Changing Colours (No.5) — $3.25 / $1.45 🏆 WINNER

Bet Tracked
Prob 19.2% | Place: 54.3% | Value: 1.32x
Why Value is screaming on race shape, and if the race stays fast enough, she can run right through it.

Roughie: Moonlight Circus (No.12) — $21.00 / $3.70 🏆 UNPLACED
Bet Tracked
Prob 3.8% | Place: 21.5% | Value: 0.92x

Race type: Open, 1200m
Map & tempo: Genuine speed on, so on-pace and midfield that can sprint off the turn win, wind still applies
Punty read:
Manikato day is all about quick acceleration and not getting bottled up when the field compresses. Jimmysstar (No.3) is the one I love because he's got the run style and the speed to be in the right part of the track. Oliveanotherday (No.9) is the bigger value threat with a place profile that can actually go longer than people think.

Beiwacht (No.5) is the classic "don't ignore the leader" horse, but with the chaos factor in these sprints, I'd rather take the value elsewhere than just assume he's untouchable. Extragalactic (No.13) is roughie danger, he's the type that can sneak in if the race gets a little loose.

Top 3 + Roughie ($15.00 pool)

Race type: Open, 1440m
Map & tempo: Hot pace, so you want a runner that can handle sprint pressure and still last to the line
Punty read:
This is a race where the leaders will set it up like a training gallop, and the question is who can outlast the pressure. Buccleuch (No.13) has the profile to keep finding and not get knocked out by the straight wind and tempo.

Royal Insignia (No.12) is the value play in the mix because she can get into the race without needing a miracle, and Harry's Yacht (No.9) is your classic "good for the numbers, keep him honest" type. Run Harry Run (No.10) is the roughie that can muscle into the placings if the pace is strong and he gets cover.

Punty's Early Mail

Rightio Loose Units, Caulfield's rolling along on a Good 4, rail out 13m entire circuit, and the wind's doing a bit of annoying big-brother cosplay, headwind up the straight. That combo means if you're not on the speed, you're effectively trying to win with one hand tied behind your back. I love a race where the leaders get a head start and the rest have to wear their lungs like a backpack.

Race 1 screams pace on paper, and it's a hot little sprinty handicap where the "sit handy, don't get stuck" crowd usually cash checks. Race 2 is your classic middle-distance City mission where tempo decides everything. Then we hit the big three feature bets across the day, where I'm mostly siding with runners that look like they can travel and put themselves in the right spot before the straight.

Alright, let's crack in. If you back one thing today, make it the plan, not the vibes, even though the vibes are doing alright.

MEET SNAPSHOT

Track: Caulfield, sprint to middle distance range (1100m to 1600m) card
Rail: Out 13m Entire Circuit
Official going: Good 4 (expected to play Speed vs Stamina)
Weather: Partly cloudy, 15°C, humidity 54%, wind 29km/h SSE (watch for gusts, headwind up the straight)
Early lane guess: On-pace lanes early, stay stalking in the sprints, keep your eyes on the wide runners in the mile
Tempo profile: Pace does the heavy lifting today, with a headwind up the straight making it harder for late swoopers to finish off strongly
Jockeys to follow:
Craig Williams: maps well to win races and tends to land close when the tempo shapes up
Damian Lane: sharp on the front and knows when to keep poking through
Blake Shinn: deadly timing when the run line opens, especially around Caulfield's quicker sections
Stables to respect:
C Maher (8 runners): consistently fires with high-function runners, especially when they're meant to be near the speed
Ben, Will & Jd Hayes (8 runners): they've got the Caulfield profile, smart placement and tidy finishes
M Price & M Kent Jnr (5 runners): when their horses look race-ready, they usually are, and they back themselves

Punty's take:

Caulfield on a Good 4 with that SSE wind is basically telling all the closers, "good luck champ." Up the straight, it's like the track's got invisible grip tape, and you feel it in the last 200. So I'm not chasing heroics from the back of the bus all day. I want horses that can either lead, or at worst sit just off them and not get trapped behind traffic.

Across the day, you'll see a theme: if a horse is advantaged by map factor and it's been placed well in races like this, it's going to get first bite. And when the market firms around the right kind of runner, I'm taking that as permission to be confident, not permission to be greedy.
