The Traitors Country Boosted Mdn Plate
1004m · MAIDEN · 13:10
✓ WON +$30 Final

Race type: Maiden, 1004m
Map & tempo: Hot pace, leaders pushing early, this becomes Speed vs Stamina quick as a blink

Punty read:
This is a track-and-tempo race. The pace is genuinely on, and Soft 5 usually rewards the runner that can stay efficient when the ground gets grabby. Markwell Topsort (No.3) is drawn to be prominent and has the tongue tie first up, which can be gold for tidying up early focus. Cosmic Jinks (No.11) has market confidence and should be close enough to benefit when the front two get that little moment of friction. Fratianno is dangerous because he's right there in the speed picture too, but I'm leaning Markwell Topsort to win the race like a professional.

Top 3 + Roughie ($20.00 pool)

1. Markwell Topsort (No.3) — $2.65 / $1.40 🏆 WINNER
Bet $15.00 Win — ✓ Won, net +$24.75
Prob 34.1% | Place: 70.0% | Value: 1.28x
Why Drawn into the speed, tongue tie helps her concentrate, and the tempo looks perfect for a leader to steal it.

2. Cosmic Jinks (No.11) — $4.80 / $2.10 🏆 2ND
Bet $5.00 Place — ✓ Won, net +$5.50
Prob 23.8% | Place: 70.0% | Value: 1.01x
Why She's the one to run into it late if the leader feels the Soft 5, but the price isn't giving me enough wiggle-room for a straight bet.

3. Fratianno (No.2) — $4.20 / $1.72 🏆 3RD
Bet Tracked
Prob 16.1% | Place: 53.5% | Value: 0.83x
Why Can run a place, but I'm not convinced she's value enough to take the win risk in this spot.

Roughie: Debriefing (No.12) — $10.00 / $2.75 🏆 UNPLACED
Bet Tracked
Prob 9.9% | Place: 38.9% | Value: 1.18x
Why Big gear angle, and if the race gets messy late, she can slot into the right part of the finish, but bankroll says keep it simple.

✓ WON +$12 Final

Race type: Class 1, 1004m
Map & tempo: Genuine pace, likely a proper burn early then a scramble late

Punty read:
This is a sprint handicap where being in the first three is basically a personality trait. Triple Yes (No.2) is set up to sit on that pace lane, and when the start is clean she's got every chance to keep rolling because the speed shouldn't collapse too dramatically. Dirty Does It (No.5) looks the obvious challenger for the trifecta-type spots, while Don't (No.3) is the value runner if she can weave into clear running and not get stuck behind the speed haze.

Top 3 + Roughie ($13.00 pool)

1. Triple Yes (No.2) — $1.95 / $1.10 🏆 WINNER
Bet $13.00 Win — ✓ Won, net +$12.35
Prob 34.3% | Place: 70.0% | Value: 0.79x
Why Pace-map match, and she's the type to hold station through the Soft 5 skids.

2. Dirty Does It (No.5) — $4.00 / $1.52 🏆 2ND
Bet Tracked
Prob 23.6% | Place: 70.0% | Value: 1.09x
Why A real chance — but at $1.52 the place the numbers don't give me enough edge to insure with. Watching, not betting.

3. Don't (No.3) — $10.00 / $2.55 🏆 UNPLACED
Bet Tracked
Prob 11.7% | Place: 34.1% | Value: 1.79x
Why This is the true upset threat, but at the current ask it's premium risk for a straight win.

Roughie: Rosenblum (No.7) — $9.80 / $2.25 🏆 UNPLACED
Bet Tracked
Prob 9.1% | Place: 38.8% | Value: 1.09x
Why Comes into the finish with intent, but I'm not overplaying her chances in a pace-heavy sprint.

✗ MISS -$13 Final

Race type: Maiden, 1506m
Map & tempo: Slow pace, so the finishing kick and positioning are everything

Punty read:
Slow tempo races on Soft 5 are where you find out who actually wants to win the last 300m. Purple Haze (No.1) is the clear story here. She's the one that can sit and store energy, then hit the ground running late like it's a movie montage. Warm Front (No.3) is live if the pace springs into existence earlier than expected, and Red Deer (No.8) is the roughie type who can slice through gaps if the field bunches.

Top 3 + Roughie ($13.00 pool)

★ PUNTY'S PICK 1. Purple Haze (No.1) — $2.15 / $1.20 🏆 2ND
Bet $13.00 Win — ✗ Lost, net -$13.00
Prob 56.8% | Place: 70.0% | Value: 1.32x
Why Slow pace sets it up perfectly, and she looks like she's got the class to go through the gears late.

2. So Fortunate (No.11) — $9.50 / $2.75 🏆 3RD
Bet Tracked
Prob 9.6% | Place: 46.1% | Value: 1.40x

Prob 8.2% | Place: 38.9% | Value: 0.73x

✗ MISS -$10 Final

Race type: Benchmark 58, 1204m
Map & tempo: Genuine pace, so settling matters, but leaders can still get away with a lot

Punty read:
Bm58 on Soft 5, this is where speed is still king, but it's more about who stays economical. Aye Aye Skipper (No.6) has the pace profile to be hard to shake once she gets rolling, while Hard Jakka (No.5) is the likely on-pace pressure too, just with more "grind and survive" vibes. Coco Dreaming (No.2) is dangerous because she should get a sweet run, and if the track is holding together she can pounce.

Top 3 + Roughie ($10.50 pool)

Race type: Benchmark 58, 1204m
Map & tempo: Moderate pace, so the finish is about timing, not just speed

Punty read:
This race sets up like a duel between forward runners and those that can stalk without getting stuck wide in the mud. Newy (No.4) is the one that looks like she can keep finding, and Fancy Shoulder (No.7) is a live place punch, especially if she gets a clean run through the straight. Savvyrocker (No.1) is the sort of runner who can sneak into the finish if others over-race early.

Punty read:
Bm66 at 1506m on Soft 5 is all about settling without losing momentum. Listins Lass (No.6) is in the right kind of rhythm horse category, and she's drawn to get every chance to be in the battle, not just watching it. Lensman (No.3) is the classy alternate, and Golden Copper (No.7) is a genuine speed-versus-surface grinder, the sort that can keep fighting when others get tired of the mud.

Hibiki Harmony (No.2) is the danger if she stays on song from the right side of the pace, and Rothrock (No.3) is the "if the leaders misread it, here comes trouble" type.

Sprints on Soft 5 are brutal, you can lose a race in 2 strides. Damas (No.3) looks primed to get the right kind of trip from the pace lane, and with the map advantage, she can hold on through the slippery bits. Denial (No.7) has the form to follow the tempo and pick up pieces. Via Vegas (No.5) is the stalker type who can sit handy, but the real value swing is Savoca (No.9) if the track gets sticky and late runners get a run at them.

Punty's Early Mail

Rightio Loose Units, Port Macquarie on a Soft 5 with the sky giving it the old "maybe I will, maybe I won't" routine, and there's 13 scratchings worth of chaos potential floating around. This is one of those meetings where the front runners get a head start, then halfway down the straight you can practically hear the track whispering, 'good luck, champ'… especially with gusty showers pushing and pulling the momentum.

If you've got FOMO, aim it at the speed. Soft 5 at this joint means you want horses that can either hold a position early or sweep through when everyone else is swimming in treacle. There's also gear turning up all over the place, tongue ties, blinkers, ear muffs, the whole circus. When the market firms, I pay attention, but when the market drifts hard, I get cheeky and try to catch the wobble.

My spine today is built around the Big 3 winners across the card, then we go race by race, protect the places, and grab a roughie where the tempo suits and the drifting prices smell like an upset brewing. Let's go.

MEET SNAPSHOT

Track: Port Macquarie, 1004m-1808m card
Rail: +2m Entire
Official going: Soft 5 (expected to play Speed vs Ground, favouring on-pace runners who can stick)
Weather: Showers, 14°C, humidity 92%, wind 24km/h S (watch for Rain risk 40%+ at 07:00, 10:00, 13:00, 16:00)
Early lane guess: Inside to midfield, then go wider when the track gets heavy late
Tempo profile: Hot early in the opener, then a generally honest tempo through the quaddie races, with some races likely to turn into position lotteries
Jockeys to follow:
Aaron Bullock: plenty of strike when he gets them into a working spot early
Ben Looker: patient hands, but he'll have them finishing off like they've got a debt to pay
Ms Teighan Worsnop: sneaky impact value, especially when the race shape lets her sit closer
Stables to respect:
Sally Taylor (9 runners): keeps finding races that suit their way of going on soft tracks
T M Whittington (5 runners): loves a money moment, and the horses usually handle the conditions
A D Smith (4 runners): when they bring one up in class, it's usually with intent, not vibes

Punty's take:

Race 1 is the kind of maiden where the speed is alive, but the real question is who handles the first time of the gear and the Soft 5 without going full spaghetti. Markwell Topsort looks like the one to get first crack at it, with Cosmic Jinks not far behind if the money keeps moving the right way, and Debriefing is the roughie swing for when the race opens up late.

Race 3 is the standout story, Purple Haze looks hard to stop if she brings that usual late grind, and So Fortunate is there as your "if they run out of petrol, she runs over the top" option. Then we hit the quaddie legs, where the winners are more about position and staying balanced than anything fancy.

The wet-weather roulette factor is real today. If the track keeps getting shower-soft mid-meeting, back horses that can keep a rhythm, not ones that need everything to go perfect. And if you're chasing value, watch for the firms and the drifts like a hawk watching a sausage roll.

What it means for you:

Be aggressive early, but smart. In the first two races especially, I'm backing the horses that line up with the expected pace map, because Soft 5 at this venue punishes wide, floating trips. So, Win bets sit where the leaders can take control, and place bets sit where the race could bunch and you want cover.

For the quaddie and Big 6, it's a split personality meeting. Two races feel like 'hold my beer' favourites, and then the open-bunch legs are pure minefield territory. That means: keep your lanes tight where the map is clear, but don't get stubborn in the chaos legs. The whole point is to survive the day, then let the dividends do the talking.

Now, I'm not saying go full gambler mode, but I am saying don't be timid in the right races. This card has a few "run like a machine" types, and it has a couple that can absolutely sting if the tempo collapses.
