R1
The Central Hotel Mdn Plate
1000m · Maiden; · 13:57
✗ MISS -$15 Final

Race type: Maiden, 1000m
Map & tempo: Moderate Pace, pace pressure with a couple of mid-packers stalking

Punty read:
This is an on-pace maiden where the "get across early" horses are hard to shake on a True rail. Oracle Of Omaha is the market attention, but it has work to do after being bumped/hampered last start, and today the trip is sharper. It's A Power has that right blend of speed and recent race shape, and with the sprint dynamics, if she gets rolling early, she's not just dabbling for a spot.

Euphoric Miss is the other live forward option, but if you want one to carry the main ticket, I'm sticking with the forward map energy. Watch for Hope To Heaven late, because if the speed collapses even slightly, that's when backmarkers start stealing lunches.

Top 3 + Roughie ($15.00 pool)

1. It's A Power (No.7) — $3.80 / $1.95 🏆 3RD
Bet $15.00 Win — ✗ Lost, net -$15.00
Prob 28.4% | Place: 38.8% | Value: 1.08x
Why She's built for sprint rhythm, and the forward action is the story, not chasing shadows late.

2. Oracle Of Omaha (No.1) — $3.00 / $1.62 🏆 2ND
Bet Tracked
Prob 24.6% | Place: 38.9% | Value: 0.88x
Why Only two places paid in a field this size, and skinny place divvies make savers a mug's game — this is a win-only race. Tracked, not staked.

3. Euphoric Miss (No.3) — $4.00 🏆 UNPLACED
Bet Tracked
Prob 20.4% | Place: 33.0% | Value: 0.82x
Why The sprint ability looks there, but the value is cooked at this end.

Roughie: Hope To Heaven (No.5) — $13.50 / $3.90 🏆 UNPLACED
Bet Tracked
Prob 5.5% | Place: 11.8% | Value: 0.85x
Why The field's too thin for a safer place hit, so I want the top pick to do the heavy lifting.

R2
The John Bulley Memorial (Bm50)
1400m · Benchmark 50; · 14:34
✓ WON +$40 Final

Race type: Benchmark 50, 1400m
Map & tempo: Slow Pace, place betting-friendly with midfields able to run into it

Punty read:
1400m at this tempo is where patience pays. You want a runner that can be in the right patch without burning too early, and Cryptology has the profile to capitalise if they bunch up and cover ground smartly.

Mayor Of Kingston is the classy speed look for the race, and the market's jumping, but I'm treating him as a place-minded player more than a primary win. Engeline is there too, and Panda Drum can light up for minor money if the leaders overcook it.

Roughie Ozzie Invader is the sort that can hit the board if the race falls apart, but I'm keeping the stake focused where the value sits.

Top 3 + Roughie ($13.00 pool)

1. Mayor Of Kingston (No.7) — $4.10 / $1.70 🏆 WINNER
Bet $13.00 Win — ✓ Won, net +$40.30
Prob 18.3% | Place: 46.1% | Value: 0.90x
Why He maps to get the run in the right position, and the price says "watch me" for a win.

2. Engeline (No.3) — $5.30 / $1.95 🏆 3RD
Bet Tracked
Prob 15.6% | Place: 46.1% | Value: 0.98x
Why A real chance — but at $1.95 the place the numbers don't give me enough edge to insure with. Watching, not betting.

3. Cryptology (No.6) — $8.20 / $2.55 🏆 UNPLACED
Bet Tracked
Prob 15.3% | Place: 34.1% | Value: 1.47x
Why He's live and price looks like value, but the staking plan keeps it disciplined.

Roughie: Ozzie Invader (No.1) — $8.50 🏆 UNPLACED
Bet Tracked
Prob 7.4% | Place: 29.2% | Value: 0.63x
Why His path is real enough, but you'd rather have the ticket where the confidence concentrates.

Vantage Mining Solutions Hcp (C6)
1200m · Class 6; · 15:12
✓ WON +$13 Final

Race type: Class 6, 1200m
Map & tempo: Slow Pace, ideal for the horse that can control without doing the work

Punty read:
Great Cosmic is the one I want in this sort of race, because slow tempo over 1200m is where speed that stays efficient becomes gold. This isn't about sprinting like a maniac at the 200m mark, it's about timing and balance, and Great Cosmic has been doing it.

Ichiberu is the danger in the "suddenly, he's there" category. Surfers Royale can absolutely run into it if she gets cover and finds clear air, but you'd need a bit of luck around the turn for her to go bang.

Schmoozer and Manic Light are the backups if the race dynamic changes and the leaders peel off earlier than expected.

Top 3 + Roughie ($15.00 pool)

★ PUNTY'S PICK 1. Great Cosmic (No.1) — $1.85 🏆 WINNER
Bet $15.00 Win — ✓ Won, net +$12.75
Prob 38.6% | Place: 53.0% | Value: 0.71x
Why He wins this type of race, because the tempo suits and he keeps his momentum through the run.

2. Ichiberu (No.5) — $4.50 / $2.05 🏆 4TH
Bet Tracked
Prob 20.5% | Place: 38.9% | Value: 1.10x

3. Surfers Royale (No.2) — $6.00 🏆 2ND
Bet Tracked
Prob 15.8% | Place: 32.7% | Value: 0.95x
Why The odds are fair enough, but I'm not paying for the roundabout route.

Roughie: Manic Light (No.6) — $13.00 / $3.90 🏆 UNPLACED
Bet Tracked
Prob 3.5% | Place: 9.8% | Value: 0.45x
Why Her chance is more for exact trifecta chaos than a clean win script.

✗ MISS -$10 Final

Race type: Benchmark 55, 1000m
Map & tempo: Hot Pace with genuine leaders, sprint chaos potential

Punty read:
1000m at this level and pace is a weapon. A Bar In Paris is the one with the clearest speed story, and with the way these sprints play on the rail, if he gets a clean crack at the front, you're watching a horse hold court.

Without isn't far away either, and Valiant Joan has the forward tactics to worry the fav if the leader scenario softens. Dance Wizzard is a sneaky threat too, but the price can make you regret thinking too hard.

My roughie Xingxing is for when the sprint goes full Hunger Games and the finish gets loose.

Top 3 + Roughie ($10.50 pool)

1. A Bar In Paris (No.2) — $2.68 / $1.22 🏆 3RD
Bet $10.50 Win — ✗ Lost, net -$10.50
Prob 26.5% | Place: 59.1% | Value: 0.86x
Why The forward map is perfect for 1000m, and this looks like a race where leaders survive.

2. Without (No.8) — $6.00 🏆 UNPLACED
Bet Tracked
Prob 19.6% | Place: 46.1% | Value: 1.18x
Why A real chance — but at that price the place the numbers don't give me enough edge to insure with. Watching, not betting.

3. Valiant Joan (No.9) — $5.50 / $1.80 🏆 2ND
Bet Tracked
Prob 16.4% | Place: 46.1% | Value: 0.90x
Why The profile's good, but I'm keeping the win investment on the leader type.

Roughie: Xingxing (No.6) — $12.50 / $2.70 🏆 UNPLACED
Bet Tracked
Prob 7.2% | Place: 27.8% | Value: 1.03x
Why If the pace gets stretched, he can sneak into the finish, otherwise he's just a flyer.

JBS Australia Country Cups Challenge Qualifier / Cloncurry Cup
1600m · Open; · 16:27
✗ MISS -$9 Final

Race type: Open, 1600m
Map & tempo: Slow Pace, more time for rhythm, big swings come from positioning

Punty read:
This is 1600m where slow tempo turns the race into a chess match. Dollars is the one I want to anchor the race because he has the class balance to move without burning early. Spanish Blaze is the danger if he finds a run where his finishing kick actually lands, and Deferential can show up because his pattern suits when others start covering too much ground.

The Driller and Dark Harmony are the two you keep in mind if the race opens up late. Hang Five is roughie territory because you need everything to go right from that back half.

Top 3 + Roughie ($8.60 pool)

1. Dollars (No.3) — $4.30 / $2.00 🏆 3RD
Bet $8.60 Win — ✗ Lost, net -$8.60
Prob 21.1% | Place: 38.8% | Value: 1.06x
Why He's the most reliable for a slow 1600, right kind of trip and can strike late.

2. Spanish Blaze (No.6) — $5.10 / $2.25 🏆 7TH
Bet Tracked
Prob 18.1% | Place: 24.4% | Value: 1.08x

3. Deferential (No.7) — $6.00 / $2.65 🏆 2ND
Bet Tracked
Prob 15.4% | Place: 28.0% | Value: 0.92x
Why Value is there, but the day's staking plan sticks to the top anchor.

Roughie: Hang Five (No.4) — $14.00 / $4.00 🏆 5TH
Bet Tracked
Prob 4.3% | Place: 9.8% | Value: 0.60x
Why His path is a wide-open late surge, not a tidy win script.

✗ MISS -$10 Final

Race type: Class 1, 1200m
Map & tempo: Moderate Pace, place chances matter when leaders keep their advantages

Punty read:
Holy Holy Holy looks like the kind of horse that gets positioned and then keeps going, and this is the sort of Class 1 race where the forward tactical types can be deadly. Red Code is the other big player because the map and his recent rhythm scream "I'll be in the finish."

Bonnie Bouquet is a standout for where place value can pop, if the race sets up similar to what she does best. Puligny is the roughie for those "one of those runs" scenarios, but with Class 1, you need the story to line up from gate to line.

Top 3 + Roughie ($10.50 pool)

1. Holy Holy Holy (No.6) — $3.30 / $1.50 🏆 UNPLACED
Bet $10.50 Win — ✗ Lost, net -$10.50
Prob 24.5% | Place: 61.5% | Value: 0.81x
Why He's got the most reliable staying power through a 1200 where the pace doesn't fall apart.

2. Red Code (No.1) — $4.50 / $1.65 🏆 UNPLACED
Bet Tracked
Prob 19.1% | Place: 54.4% | Value: 1.03x
Why A real chance — but at $1.65 the place the numbers don't give me enough edge to insure with. Watching, not betting.

3. Bonnie Bouquet (No.4) — $6.00 / $1.90 🏆 WINNER
Bet Tracked
Prob 17.4% | Place: 46.1% | Value: 1.27x
Why Price says value, but the bet type allocation stays tight.

Roughie: Puligny (No.7) — $26.00 / $4.40 🏆 UNPLACED

✗ MISS -$3 Final

Race type: Open, 1000m
Map & tempo: Moderate pace, on-pace pressure with place leverage on the right runners

Punty read:
I'm riding with I'm Zac in this one because at 1000m you want a horse that can get a clean run without getting stuck in the blender. Cochrane is the obvious speed threat too, and Jimmyinthejungle is the one that can go into the race like a sniper if traffic opens.

The weird part about this race is how often 1000m finishes turn into position lotteries. So I'm trying to line up my bets with the horses that look best placed to survive the last 200m scramble.

Top 3 + Roughie ($15.00 pool)

1. I'm Zac (No.5) — $4.80 / $1.60 🏆 2ND
Bet $15.00 Each Way ($7.50W + $7.50P) — Cashed, net -$3.00
Prob 23.3% | Place: 59.0% | Value: 1.36x
Why Proper 1000m type, and the map suits when jockeys go hunting for space.

2. Cochrane (No.4) — $2.22 / $1.12 🏆 WINNER
Bet Tracked
Prob 22.6% | Place: 54.3% | Value: 0.62x
Why The top pick's each-way already covers the place angle here — doubling up is paying twice for the same insurance. Tracked instead.

3. Jimmyinthejungle (No.10) — $4.60 🏆 4TH
Bet Tracked
Prob 21.1% | Place: 52.0% | Value: 0.97x
Why He's live enough, but the ticket doesn't need another saver kick.

✗ MISS -$10 Final

Race type: Class 1, 1200m
Map & tempo: Genuine pace, and that means "don't overthink, stay with the right position"

Punty read:
Heathcliff is the horse I trust to be around the mark, and Anders Kiss has enough toe to run at the finish too. Cinchicated gives you a clean mid-run value option, but the bigger story is which of these on-pace horses gets the best cover and then hits the straight without getting shuffled.

Champonnet is the one for the place value types, and Day To Remember is the roughie because she has that "if the gaps appear" ceiling.

Top 3 + Roughie ($10.50 pool)

1. Heathcliff (No.1) — $2.25 🏆 UNPLACED
Bet $10.50 Win — ✗ Lost, net -$10.50
Prob 23.4% | Place: 56.3% | Value: 0.53x

Bet Tracked
Prob 19.7% | Place: 53.1% | Value: 0.93x

Punty's Early Mail

Rightio Sickos, Cloncurry today is one of those cards where the rail is locked in, the speed's doing push-ups, and one of your roughies is gonna kick the door in like Rocky walking up them stairs.

MEET SNAPSHOT

Track: Good, 1000m to 1600m card
Rail: True
Official going: Good (expected to play Speed to Stamina, rail running helps the forward types)
Weather: Shower or two, 34°C, humid, gusty (watch for the gusts making the field a bit trigger-happy early)

Early lane guess: Get in early on the leaders, then protect your wider sweeps late.
Tempo profile: Moderate to Genuine pace through the sprints, with a couple of races where the leaders will be hard to reel if they get a clear run.
Jockeys to follow:
Brooke Stower: Big rider book, comes up on enough maps to make life awkward.
Chris Whiteley: Loves the on-pace play when the race shape lines up.
Nor Yadi: Consistent type, usually gives you a clean run through traffic.
Stables to respect:
Tanya Parry (28 runners): She's got the volume, plus the gear and prep choices look sharp when they matter.
Lachie Manzelmann (12 runners): When he brings them, they tend to be ready to fire, especially in the lower grades.
Toni Schofield (6 runners): Good for sneaky live ones, often the sort that fills a spot and then keeps going.

Punty's take:

Cloncurry on a Good track and True rail usually means you get rewarded for being close enough to the action early. If you sit too far back in the sprints, you're relying on luck and physics, and both hate punters. Gusty weather also means jockeys are keen, so watch the early tempo. If the pace is real, the straight line gets messy.

My spine today is built on three races where the speed maps and fitness profiles line up, and the prices are still sane enough to take a stand. Race 3 is my first "lock it in and breathe" moment with Great Cosmic, then Race 1 has It's A Power doing the on-pace job, and Race 4 is A Bar In Paris in a sprint where that kind of forward pressure usually earns respect.

If you want the "how do I play it" part, I'm attacking Win where it's value-ish and going place or each way where the race shape screams "leaders will be there at the finish, not cruising home for fun." Roughies are there for a reason, not because I feel like lighting money on fire.

What it means for you:

For betting, I'd be thinking: aggressive early in the races with clear on-pace profiles, then take your safer value in the closer-to-the-rails sprints. When a horse is mapped forward and the market has come around, you follow the path, not the noise.

Your roughie plays are built around getting a better trip, not magic. So, if they go around and lead, great. If they get checked or boxed, they still get you in the ballpark because the finish is where the winners are coming from today. And if a short-priced favourite drifts in the market, I'm not instantly panicking. I'm just making sure my exotics are wide enough to survive the chaos that gusts and True rail can throw at you.
