Punty's Early Mail
For all of Punty's tips for Fannie Bay, head to https://punty.ai/tips/darwin-2026-09-05
Rightio Loose Units, Fannie Bay is on deck and it smells like a rail-true, Good-track day where the pace does the heavy lifting and the laggards get bullied. First-up vibes are real, and the showers can hang around just long enough to make everyone second-guess their life choices at the till.
MEET SNAPSHOT
Track: Fannie Bay, 1000-1600m card
Rail: True
Official going: Good (expected to play True-speed, settle-and-finish)
Weather: Possible shower, 23°C, humidity 90%, light wind (watch for the track holding together, watch for surface consistency)
Early lane guess: Quieter inside lanes with a nice chunk of "get across early" speed
Tempo profile: Slow to genuine depending on race, but once they click they tend to keep rolling on Good.
Jockeys to follow:
Jarrod Todd: gets horses into the race shape, especially when the early speed is on
Wayne Davis: often moves a run into the right spot and keeps them finding when the race tightens
Jessica Booth: strong when the draw and pace line up, she can turn "park and pray" into "run on"
Stables to respect:
G Clarke (16 runners): tends to have them right at the money, and the horses handle the local look
Paul Shiers (5 runners): sneaky with benchmarks, often has a runner that steps up once the market wakes
Philip Cole (7 runners): loves the sprint setups, and when the gear gets adjusted they usually go forward
Punty's take:
This meeting feels like it's gonna sort itself by position. On a rail-true Good track, the inside isn't a crime scene, but it's also not a free ride. If you're getting trapped three-back and the tempo doesn't kick, you're gonna be doing that annoying "slow-motion reaching" you see in slow-mo replays.
Race 1 is the classic "short-priced horse, but does he get it?" situation. Biden Time has the pace map screaming mid, and the barrier gives him every chance to sit in the pocket, suck up the run, and pounce when the field starts to bunch. I'm not married to him winning at $1.65, but I am very keen to back him for the right kind of return, because this is a race shape where a leader or stalker usually grinds it out.
Then you jump into the Quaddie lanes from Race 3 to Race 6, and this is where it gets spicy. Race 4 and Race 5 are set up for the "smart money knows something" story, and Race 6 is a maiden where you want either proven early gears, or the right pattern. Meet Me At The Bar and Saxon Beach are the ones that make the most racing sense.
What it means for you:
My big spine is short and sensible: Biden Time in Race 1, Order Online in Race 4, and Littlebourkestreet in Race 5. That's your anchor trio, because those are the races where the pace and draw alignment actually matters.
After that, I'm not forcing roughies for the sake of it. If the value is there, I'll lean. If it's just noise, I'll protect the bankroll and look for the place side where these fields tend to pay out when the front half does the work.
If you're playing wide exotics, do it like a sensible degenerate, not like a lunatic. Stick to the Quaddie ticket approach already built for R3 to R6, and let the faster lanes do the heavy lifting. If the track takes a tiny bit of rain, watch for those "on-pace" types to keep launching like they've been given permission by the starter.
PUNTY'S BIG 3 + MULTI
These are the three bets the day leans on.
1 - Biden Time (Race 1, No.1) — $1.65
Why Pace map and barrier set him up to sit handy, then take the fight up inside the final furlong.
2 - Littlebourkestreet (Race 5, No.4) — $1.90
Why The sprint speed is right there, and she looks like the type that bursts straight through the line on Good.
3 - Order Online (Race 4, No.2) — $2.65
Why Benchmark sprint run style loves this track, and the speed dynamic gives her an easy path to the finish.
Multi (all three to win): $10 × ~8.00 = ~$80.00 collect
Race 1 – Ladbrokes Switch Hcp
Race type: Restricted 58, 1600m
Map & tempo: Slow pace, Biden Time advantaged (pocket-midfield, grind and pounce)
Punty read:
This is a race where the tempo not being mental plays right into the "sit and strike" horses. Biden Time is the magnet, and barrier 3 means he's not trapped wide or forced back. The last couple runs had excuses around racing position and having to work it from not ideal spots, but with this tempo profile, he can just be patient enough for the field to compress and then do the business. Miami Baby's got enough class and track handles to be a place threat, and New Enterprise is the sort that can improve out of a wide run when the speed doesn't fall away early.
Now, I'm watching the market moves too. The short price is short for a reason, but I don't need it to be a dominant "win at all costs" type. This is a "get me paid for finishing positions" type of race shape.
Top 3 + Roughie ( $12.00 pool )
1. Biden Time (No.1) — $1.65 / $1.17
Bet $12.00 Win, return $19.80
Prob 50.3% | Place: 55.9% | Value: 1.09x
Why Barrier 3, midfield map, and the tempo is slow enough for him to tuck in and get first crack when runners start to stack up.
2. Miami Baby (No.3) — $3.50 / $1.75
Bet Tracked
Prob 23.7% | Place: 39.8% | Value: 0.86x
Why Only two places paid in a field this size, and skinny place divvies make savers a mug's game — this is a win-only race. Tracked, not staked.
3. New Enterprise (No.6) — $8.00 / $3.10
Bet Tracked
Prob 14.6% | Place: 23.4% | Value: 1.17x
Why Short field, two places, thin divvies — the pool stays on the two bets that earn it. He's on the watch list.
Roughie: Bryce (No.4) — $14.00 / $4.00
Bet Tracked
Prob 4.5% | Place: 12.2% | Value: 0.82x
Why Needs the pace to fall perfectly for a win, and right now the race story is more "grinders and pocket runners".
Race 2 – Mitcon Projects
Race type: Bm76, 1300m
Map & tempo: Genuine pace, Hennessy Lad on the speed, Fury off the tempo
Punty read:
This is a proper benchmark 1300 where the leaders have every chance to string them out, then the smart ones stalk, not loiter. Rossanado maps like the natural leader type, and Fury is the value runner if she gets into it without getting swallowed by the speed pressure. Fury drifting in the market is interesting, because she could be running for the place rather than the win, and this is exactly the kind of race where "place leverage" pays when the front half does the work.
Roughie Hennessy Lad is the danger if the pace collapses, but for this one I'd rather trust the right finishing patterns.
Top 3 + Roughie ( $18.00 pool )
1. Rossanado (No.4) — $2.90 / $1.37
Bet $12.00 Win, return $34.80
Prob 21.6% | Place: 69.0% | Value: 0.82x
Why He gets the sort of run where he can be hard to get past, and if the tempo is genuine, he's positioned to keep finding.
2. Fury (No.3) — $6.00 / $1.95
Bet $6.00 Place, return $11.70
Prob 17.2% | Place: 55.4% | Value: 1.36x
Why The drift says the market's cooling the win, so I'm treating her like a place play that can run on through the pack.
3. Bruno Bruno (No.5) — $6.00 / $1.95
Bet Tracked
Prob 16.2% | Place: 57.1% | Value: 1.27x
Why Third line of the market is where place bets go to die slowly — the ledger says so at every price. He carries the exotics and the watch list, not the bankroll.
Roughie: Hennessy Lad (No.6) — $9.50 / $2.65
Bet Tracked
Prob 7.7% | Place: 29.0% | Value: 0.96x
Why Too many things need to go right for the win, and for me the place value route is already covered elsewhere.
Race 3 – Vale Gavin Clarke Hcp
Race type: Open, 1200m
Map & tempo: Genuine pace, Lim's Bighorn sets it up
Punty read:
This is a 1200 where the leaders do the first job and the closers do the second job. It's not a race for dawdlers in the tail unless they're legit sprinting machines. Bon's Pride and Field Of Flutes are both in the right lanes for being in the fight, and Devils Delight has enough run style to slot in and run at the right time. Gravina is one of those horses that can lift a rank when the field gets rolling.
Awash is your "if there's a collapse, she swoops in with one of those annoying late runs" type, but she's priced like she needs a specific scenario.
Top 3 + Roughie ( $12.00 pool )
1. Bon's Pride (No.2) — $4.60 / $2.20
Prob 18.1% | Place: 34.1% | Value: 1.07x
Bet $12.00 Win, return $55.20
Prob 18.1% | Place: 34.1% | Value: 1.07x
Why He maps for a position where the pace helps, and the stable profile at this track screams "ready to run".
2. Field Of Flutes (No.1) — $5.00 / $2.35
Bet Tracked
Prob 18.2% | Place: 35.8% | Value: 1.13x
Why Only two places paid in a field this size, and skinny place divvies make savers a mug's game — this is a win-only race. Tracked, not staked.
3. Devils Delight (No.4) — $4.50 / $2.15
Bet Tracked
Prob 16.9% | Place: 34.1% | Value: 1.01x
Why Short field, two places, thin divvies — the pool stays on the two bets that earn it. He's on the watch list.
Roughie: Awash (No.7) — $13.00 / $3.90
Bet Tracked
Prob 5.2% | Place: 12.2% | Value: 0.87x
Why She's gotta get the perfect run pattern, and this pace set feels like it suits the first wave.
Race 4 – NT News
Race type: Bm54, 1100m
Map & tempo: Genuine pace, Tigers Roar to show up, Romantic Love has the pace edge
Punty read:
1100 on a Good, rail-true track is about who can control their position at the turn and not get bottled. Order Online is the horse I want in this kind of race story. Even though she's not the most obvious "front-runter for life" on paper, her style suits a sprint where there's speed in the race and she can land the right part of the track without needing a miracle.
Tigers Roar is the obvious danger if the leaders keep taking the whole meal, and All Inclusive is the kind of consistent type that can sneak into the finish with the right run.
Flash Kermy drifting out is telling, and Romantic Love is the sort that can run on, but I prefer the shape of the top pair.
Top 3 + Roughie ( $12.00 pool )
1. Order Online (No.2) — $2.65 / $1.55
Bet $12.00 Win, return $31.80
Prob 33.2% | Place: 44.1% | Value: 1.13x
Why Sprint profile matches the track, and the pace is genuine enough for her to hit the ground running and keep going.

Roughie: Romantic Love (No.4) — $4.00 / $1.95
Bet Tracked
Prob 23.7% | Place: 36.6% | Value: 1.22x
Why Price doesn't match the win value, and she needs the race to fall into her lap.
Race 5 – Fathers Day At Silks Hcp
Race type: Restricted 70, 1100m
Map & tempo: Moderate pace, Starzam has speed, Littlebourkestreet is the on-pacer
Punty read:
This is basically a two-horse race on paper with a couple of others trying to crash the party. Littlebourkestreet at $1.90 is the one they want to be on, she has the pace and the track feel for a sprint where the front runners don't die.
Montjuic Magic at $3.00 is the value curveball, she's on the pace and her form screams "she can be there when it matters". If I Was You is the other one I respect, because the run profile fits a finish where the leaders still have something left.
Starzam is your "if she finds a run" type at $9.00, but this looks more like a controlled sprint than a chaos brawl.
Top 3 + Roughie ( $12.00 pool )
1. Littlebourkestreet (No.4) — $1.90 / $1.15
Bet $12.00 Win, return $22.80
Prob 33.6% | Place: 47.0% | Value: 0.83x
Why Speed is the whole ball game here, and she's the one most likely to be in the right spot turning for home.
2. Montjuic Magic (No.1) — $3.00 / $1.52
Bet Tracked
Prob 29.7% | Place: 47.0% | Value: 1.17x
Why Only two places paid in a field this size, and skinny place divvies make savers a mug's game — this is a win-only race. Tracked, not staked.
3. If I Was You (No.5) — $5.00 / $2.20
Bet Tracked
Prob 18.9% | Place: 29.0% | Value: 1.19x
Why Short field, two places, thin divvies — the pool stays on the two bets that earn it. He's on the watch list.
Roughie: Starzam (No.3) — $9.00 / $3.00
Bet Tracked
Prob 9.5% | Place: 17.3% | Value: 1.10x
Why Needs a run to the outside or the pace to get disrupted. Maybe today, maybe not.
Race 6 – ROANT Mdn Plate
Race type: Maiden, 1000m
Map & tempo: Slow pace, Brave Heritage and others can appear late, meet-in-the-middle speed advantage matters
Punty read:
1000 maiden, slow tempo, rail-true, and everyone wants to be the first one to crack. This one screams "position and sprint ability" more than "form lines from the shadow realm". Meet Me At The Bar is the standout of the bunch, he's got the racing pattern to hit the line even if the race doesn't rip early. Opulent Oscar is the one for the straight pick when the market thinks she's the next one through, and Saxon Beach is the wildcard that can actually live up to her price, because her finishing style matches the type of maiden where speed doesn't collapse.
Brave Heritage and Zoutara are the ones I'd rather watch than pay for, unless you're building a big exotics ticket.
Top 3 + Roughie ( $12.00 pool )
1. Meet Me At The Bar (No.3) — $2.25 / $1.40
Bet $12.00 Win, return $27.00
Prob 27.3% | Place: 40.3% | Value: 1.22x
Why Slow tempo means less early chaos, and he's built to keep rolling through the final straight without needing the perfect break.
2. Saxon Beach (No.5) — $5.00 / $2.35
Bet Tracked
Prob 21.1% | Place: 32.5% | Value: 1.37x
Why Only two places paid in a field this size, and skinny place divvies make savers a mug's game — this is a win-only race. Tracked, not staked.
3. Opulent Oscar (No.4) — $4.20 / $2.05
Bet Tracked
Prob 21.0% | Place: 30.5% | Value: 1.36x
Why Short field, two places, thin divvies — the pool stays on the two bets that earn it. He's on the watch list.
Roughie: Brave Heritage (No.1) — $15.00 / $4.20
Bet Tracked
Prob 4.5% | Place: 12.2% | Value: 0.44x
Why Needs a major lift and a clean passage. I'm not paying for miracles unless the track gives me reasons.
SEQUENCE LANES
Quaddie (R3–R6)
Smart: 2,7,3 / 2,4,3 / 4,3,1 / 3,5,4 (81 combos x $0.43 = $34.83) -- 43% flexi
Three legs are "wide enough to respect the chaos", one leg is more open than it should be, so keep the flexi honest and let the pace do the talking.
Punty's take: Open Bunch in Race 3 and the trio leg shapes in Race 6 make this entertainment-adjacent, still playable because Race 4 and Race 5 are cleaner sprint stories. It's a crack at the big one, not a sit-and-smile.
NUGGETS FROM THE TRACK
1 - Slow tempo, big finishers get rewarded at 1000m
Meet Me At The Bar in Race 6 is the exact kind of maiden profile that benefits when nobody sprints early and the race turns into a straight fight late.
2 - Market drifters can be place plays, not win plays
Fury in Race 2 drifting is a clue, she looks like the kind of runner who can still run into the top three when the speed holds on.
3 - Don't overthink the rail on Good
With Rail True all day, you don't need to chase the outer unless the barrier forces it. The real advantage is being in a position to hold ground in the run, not being somewhere for vibes.
FINAL WORD FROM THE SICKO SANCTUARY
Alright legends, I'm backing the shape today, not just the headlines. If the track stays Good and the pace does what it normally does, this card's set up for a clean-ish early spine and a quaddie that actually respects the finish. Gamble Responsibly.
