Rightio Loose Units, Morphettville Parks is Soft 6 today and the wind's blowing cross-handed, so if a horse wants to drift wide through the breeze, they'll be doing it with their parachute already deployed. With showers hanging around like an ex at a footy pub, you want ones that handle the wet grind, then ones that can still hit top speed when the track starts chewing up the road work.
Track-wise, this is a day where leaders still get a crack, but the winner's usually the one who keeps the momentum. On Soft 6 with rail true, the rail hug has value, yet the crosswind can absolutely turn "I'll just sit outside" into "mate, where's the finish line gone?". I'm looking for races where the speed is real, then I'm paying for place in the ones that can get held up or shuffle on the turn.
My spine today is the Big 3 + Multi, because when your first three winners are all coming from the right maps, you can finally relax enough to enjoy the rest of the card. I want horses who either lead cleanly or stalk with cover, then swap gears late when the field starts stretching.
And today has plenty of those "swap gears" types. Race 1 is a maiden plate where the speed should be there, and I'm backing the one who fits the Soft track picture and has enough place punch to grind you out. Race 2 is a straight handicap sprint where you back the best map and hope the run is clean, Race 3 is the classic distance where the wet and the draw decide whether it's a sit-sprint or a real staying affair.
What it means for you: Bet aggressively where the map is obvious and the horse's style matches Soft 6. In races where the field's likely to jostle and lose rhythm, I'm steering you into place or a roughie that can swoop rather than a shorty that needs everything to go right.
